Uldaman is a great place for those replacing all their old pieces of gear with the new ones they're now able to wear. Warriors and Paladins can wear plate around the time they'll be coming here, and Shamen and Hunters will be able to wear mail. Uldaman offers a lot of good pieces that help facilitate the upgrade. Its an interesting instance that won't be made or broken by not having any one specific class as long as you have tanking and healing covered.

the whole instance should be doable with most groups if they play well. the first part is a piss, and should be doable with lvl 40's.
we did him with only 4 players, and not very high lvl's either. and two of the players had only been in Uldaman 2 times before (inexperienced players i would call them).

very confident in our team, we went straight to Zul'Farrak and downed everything but the cave dude and we didnt have the mallet.

There is also a back entrance to uldaman south of the Ressuction Point (Spirit Healer/Grave Yard) which puts you closer to the end of the instance, saves time unless your looking for some of the boss drops

For a high lvl char and enchanter i like coming back here because i can easily run to the dwarves and up to ironaya quickly. They all drop gear level 35-40 ish and this when disenchanted turn into the very valuable small radiant shard used in the very popular fiery enchant. Also small radiant shards are high in demand on my server and sell really well.

My goodness this has been nerfed . I was aked to come tank it (at lvl 38) I thought are you nuts? bosses are like lvl 44-45 or so.... anyway i didn;t know about the patch.. we went with lvl 38 37 40 40 and 41 and it was too easy.. and the loot is still very good. lots of lvl 40 REQUIRED items, so we couldn;t even wear hald the stuff we won :)

ive herd alot of people say u need a group of 40s for this instance... not true at the time i ran this my rogue was lvl 36 and we had a 42 priest and a lvl 39 warrior(our tank) and a lvl 39 hunter, 45 lock(locks r good to have in this one because of SS lots of wipes if u arent carefull, and shammys r good here to)... took us like hour and thirty mins to clear it no wipes priest never had to use SS and to top it all of i got those good boots(handy in pVp becasue of aggilaty and stanima if im not mistaken) a great run i cant w8 to hit it again.

There are 3 or 4 sections in the dungeon where a ton of non-elite scorpids are waiting for you. If your tank is not capable of holding AOE aggro, make sure you have an off-tank to pick them up, because they'll eat healers for breakfast. Also, it's a good idea to make sure that everyone knows this so you don't have an erstwhile member of your party pulling these things when you aren't ready; it's very easy to wipe if you know what's going on, but relatively easy to defeat if you are prepared.

I heard two players around level 40 two-manning Ulda all the way to Grimlok, and prolly would of gone even deeper. They were a rather twinked warrior but not too much, and a -feral- druid with decent +int gear. That's just a ton of exp and easy blue items.

after the horror time-eating called gnomeragan, this is the next, but it worthed for my lvl42 SPriest. my party (40 pally + 41 mage + 40 lock + 43 HPriest) advanced soooo hard. it took like 4-5 hours to complete it, but i advanced one entire level 50k XP from mobs, then 30k XP from the 5-6 quests i completed inside.
a word of advice to make your time worth: take as many quests as you can before going in, else is a lost of time...

This place has indeed been nerfed into smithereens.
That being said, it's pure heaven for any lvl42+ish BM hunters.
There's a very good gun & polearm to be gotten here, as well as nice bracers, shoulders etc.
Some care in pulling and pet sacrificing makes the whole place solo-able, and teaches you a lot about hunter flexibility. Very good xp too :)
(Well except the final boss since you need more people to activate the door )
And it's a very funny dungeon with a lot of pop cult references.

For soloing this instance, there are quite a few ledges you can jump on which will make enemies run really far away to be able to get to you. If you stick to the small ledges in the green marble rooms, you can avoid a lot of attention and make it harder for enemies to chase you. There are even a couple places you can end up where enemies can't get you at all, and will evade out and you'll leave combat! There are two I know of so far:
In the hallway leading to the dwarves, while facing the entrance to the small cave that leads into the dwarf room, there is a ledge to the left. If you hop on the pot in the corner and hop again, you can kind of glitch up there and no troggs can get to you. Makes it easier to just run to the dwarves from here and feign if you are a hunter. Even better, however...
Behind Grimlok and to the right is a chunk of earth, boulder thing. If you jump behind it and wait, you'll leave combat. This is excellent for killing Grimlok quickly; Just run to that spot, leave combat, jump out again and kill him asap, loot, and run back behind the boulder. Feel free to hearthstone!

hmm..... i tell u what.... this dungeon is one of the best of all horde.. very good exp... 2/5 more than all average elite EXP. there is a 100% need for a healer- a tanker and someone who knows how to do AOE dmg cause there sometimes r alot of monsters clustered together.. good luck to anyone who goes there ----

In patch 3.0.8 you will no longer need to bring two other friends to Uldaman and in a relevant case, Blackrock Spire:
The ritual objects that used to require 3 players to activate in Blackrock Spire and Uldaman now only require 1.

I have just discovered something this duneon is literally impossible to do solo u can get to hall of the crafters and u r done u need 2 people to activate the altar of the keepers so unless u r running with a group or get someone to tag along your done there.

i ran it in december 2008, solo all the way to the first summoning spot. got a friend to help at that point and we still couldnt summon, had to pull in a third person and it finally worked. so yes it still takes atleast 3 people to open the door and to summon the last boss

Attempted to 2 man today,(41 hunter and 41 rogue). Not special gear just some blues, some(by some I mean most) of the gear was like lvl 20- blues. We got as far as to the part where you summon and failed to complete that as we were 2 manning. Unfortunately we had to turn back, maybe we'll 2 man it on some other toons another time after 3.0.8! But overall, not hard a group of 4 40s should clear it with EASE!

attention enchanters, as a 65 lock, i'd rip this place up in about 30-40 minutes and DE everything that drops. In a single trip i'd get about 3 Large Radiant Shards, 2-3 Small Radiant Shards, a small bit of illusion dust and maybe some Nether Essence if I'm lucky. Easy way to get some reagants.
I'd also come out of there with about 60 silk or so and a stack or two of mageweave...
Uldaman is a dandy little reagent run for high levels.

Some days ago me (level 39 subtlety rogue) and a level 38 healer priest managed to 2-man the entire place. I don't really recommend it, since it practically took us a whole day (with lunchbreaks and stuff), but it is doable. The bosses are pretty easy, and I wasn't really well geared (still had Tunic of Westfall and a dagger from ~lvl 20). Altough last boss was a bit tricky but on the second try we managed to down him with the run-out-and-back-up-to-second-floor tactic.
Just get 5 people if you want to do it, way easier and faster :)

This instance was very easy for my friends and I, so I'm assuming it should be easy for everyone else. I'm fairly new to WoW, so please excuse me if I sound like a noob. Like I said, our group had no problem with Uldaman.
Our group consisted of:
lvl 43 Mage
lvl 42 Warrior
lvl 39 Shaman
lvl 38 Warrior
lvl 37 Paladin
One warrior was a tank, the other was dps. I'm not sure what the other classes specced in.
One of our guys (38 warrior) was rushing ahead of everyone else because apparently it was well past his bedtime when we ran the instance. Haha, I wonder how old he is. So anyway, because of that he was separated from the rest of us and got lost. Just thought I'd share that.

So our intrepid Pally and Shammy 2 man team decided they had had enough of SM and a trip to Uldaman was on the cards.. Both level 38 and wearing quest and lower instance items (no heirlooms).
This instance is very straight forward and strangely enjoyable. If you take the mobs in groups of 4 (if elite) then you should have no troubles. Their are no fights that need any real co-ordination or tactics, other than Archaedas, where as a Shammy I stood right on the Paladin to ensure any incoming mobs would be cought up in his concecration. If you have a competent healer / tank combo then there is no reason you wont be able to clear this instance at lvl 38. We went back for a 2nd run after hitting 39 and wanting to get to 40 so we could take the quest at the end. Running this instance twice and handing in the quests netted us an average of 71k exp an hour.

Soloed the whole instance, completely cleared with a 45 (dinged to 46 whilst inside) Paladin with Prot spec. Took a few hours but very satisfying.
With the last boss, Archades, just kited him as far from his hall as possible, which meant the trash mobs that he summons had a long way to run. Not so much a worry for the dwarves, but the keepers he summons can stun / knock back for a few valuable seconds.

The last boss is cake if you have a balanced group. We did it and the highest level was 45.
Have the tank stick to the boss. Tell your tank to bust out the shield, and get in def stance. The boss can be disarmed. Do so. He also swings extremely slow, so your warrior should time his shield blocks, if you do that, then he's only hitting your warrior for about 100 - 170 every 3 seconds.
Have the priest just watch health. Don't waste big heals, it's a long fight, but nothing that gets out of control.
The rest of the group should focus kill the mobs as they become active.
Once the boss is down to 25% he'll spawn guardians. Everyone rush the boss and take him out as fast as you can. The guardians die when he eats floor.

the master enchanter was tricky to find. after the room with the miniature looking town with the entrance to giant, there is a hallway after it. when you reach a fork in the road turn to the right. there shuold be a valley of scorpions level 41 non elites. keep goin to left of valley. make the fist right turn yuo see. in there, will be about 10-20 scorpions. when you kill them all the master enchanter will be there. i pray that you have some money. i went in at level 37 was broke and didnt go back till 40.

the back entrance is easier to clear the zone, a few 40 elite troggs guard it, and theres the obsidian elemental, which has high resists and splits..
the entrance is in dustwind gulchm about halfway down the badlands, and to the east, its a cave in the side of the right spire on the map

Since no one else has made much mention of the Back Door.... I shall ... its at Dustwind Gultch, SE of the main Badlands entrance. Its in a cave "Dustwind Gulch Cave" and is guarded by 39-40 Elites

I've been to Uldaman countless times now, and seen even good groups wipe at the end (upon encountering the stone mobs, and then at the final boss) if they don't use a good strategy. On the other hand, I've seen mediocre groups successfully beat this instance with a good strategy. Here's the best way I've seen it done.
Once you enter the boss' extended chamber you'll face many mobs of stone guys. Most of the mobs will have the following setup: 1 or 2 small white guys, 1 big stone dude, and many smaller regular stone guys. These mobs can be hard. The white guys are like fire mages and they have very high dps. The big stone guy is tough and has the distinctive feature of stomping, which will stun everyone nearby and interrupt any spells nearby players are casting. It's a good idea for casters to avoid being near this big stone stomper if posible. The best strategy I've seen is to kill the white guy(s) first, then the big guy, then kill the rest. I don't think any of the stone guys in this whole area can be sheeped, sapped, feared, or otherwise controlled. If anyone finds out differently please post.
In the first chamber, there are about 3 of thse mobs which should probably be pulled out so that no one runs into new mobs prematurely. After the mobs are killed, there are 4 stone giants which need to be woken before the door into the corridor opens. Touching the altar wakes em up. They'll wake up one at a time, with the next one waking immediately after the previous one died. These guys hit hard and can quickly kill any casters that aggro em. It's hard for the tank to keep aggro here because it doens't carry over from one stone guy to the next. Casters should probly take pains not to draw aggro, and also to conserve mana because there are four of em! It's rather amusing though watching thse giants chase after casters, they look like big stone zombies. One notable feature: when one of these giants dies, he'll fall dramatically on the floor. This isn't just cinema: standing under or even nearby to his falling corpse will cause you alot of damage, so party members try to pull back when he starts falling.
In the next few corridors leading to the boss, watch out because there are two very big patrolling stone dudes. It's very difficult to kill both the pats and a mob; successful group usually check if the pat is around, then pull the first mob into the previous chamber. After killing the first mob it's possible to wait for the pats and kill them separately from a mob. The rest of these corridors is just filled with more of the same type of mob as earlier.
The final boss:
Archaedus is the enormous titan in a chamber with lots of other stone guys. There are three types of stone guys: small ones, medium ones, and big ones. He wakes these guys up depending on the percentage of life he has left (so at 95% hp he might wake up little stone guy #3). First Archaedus wakes up about half of the little stone guys, one or two at a time, then he'll wake up all of the medium stone guys at once, then some more of the little stone guys, and finally he'll wake up the big stone guys.
The best strategy I've seen here takes a while but works like a charm. The tank attacks Archaedus while everyone else takes out the guys he wakes up
until
he wakes up the big stone guys. When the big stone guys are woken up it can be a bit of a mess killing them; I think you can close the door to the corridor though and so eliminate 2 of the big stone guys, could be wrong there. Anyway.
So before the big stone guys are woken: Slow and steady is the best way I've seen it. Casters conserve mana because it'll be needed later. This part should be very easy as long as you go slowly enough... if you go faster, it's more difficult to keep everyone alive and there definitely won't be much mana left for the difficult part.
After the big stone guys are woken: Everyone ignore them and attack the boss. They won't wake up till the boss has pretty low hp, and when the boss dies so will they.

holy crap the new patch changed ulda a lot. i ran it yesterday when the patch came out and the first thing my group noticed was that we couldn't summon a 45 guy in our group. i've ran ulda ten times before patch and last guy has always been a 47 elite. this time he was only a 40 elite. they nerfed ulda like no other with the patch.

Just finished running Ulda. Our group consisted of:
38 fury warrior
40 fury warrior
41 shadow priest
42 enhance shaman
41 ret paladin
We had no tank, except the last boss, where I the 40 warr, tanked. So basically, we spent the whole time dpsing our way
to the boss, never had a problem. No wipes, just two deaths.
Besides I gained 3/5 of a level. This patch has really changed
instance running at lower levels.

Just a little lore.... blizzard left out a very important part of lore... Ulduar the titans had created the dwarves in 3 domains, Uldaman, Ulduar, and Uldum.. reading from chapter 2 Ironforge- the awakening of the dwarves- When the world was sundered by the Well of Eternity's implosion, the earthen were deeply affected. Reeling with the pain of the earth itself, the earthen lost much of their identity and sealed themselves within the stone chambers where they were first created. Uldaman, Uldum, Ulduar... these were the names of the ancient Titan cities where the earthen first took shape and form. Buried deep beneath the world, the earthen rested in peace for nearly eight thousand years.
Though it is unclear what awakened them, the earthen sealed within Uldaman eventually arose from their self-imposed slumber. These earthen found that they had changed significantly during their hibernation. Their rocky hides had softened and became smooth skin, and their powers over stone and earth had waned. They had become mortal creatures.
Thus afterwards forming Khaz Modan or Mountain of Khaz after the shaper titan, Khaz'Goroth.. eventually becoming Ironforge.. blizzard needs to read their own lore and stop leaving important details out......
This left me wondering why they hadn't added Ulduar to WoW.
P.S.- this is 2,500 years before Warcraft 1 (earthen = dwarves)

i was able to solo this with my level 47 paladin till the first boss without dieing just to get that viking helm but had to do it 4times till i got the drop:) here is my talent tree

Quite easy rogue stunned one elite in the group and then the warrior and the rogue let them have it. Worked quite well.
Whilst doing the final boss one person died but apart from that no hiccups.
You don't need a lvl 42+ group to do this

Just Ran Through Uldaman last night. i was lvl 41 pally, and my boy was lvl 42. we paid a lvl 52 to run us thro but with just the three of us it was fine. but later on inside we met up with a lvl 42 and he joined our group. it really helped cause he knew his way around Uldaman incredibly well! But my point being its not that hard. by myself lvl 41 pally, i was getting thro uldaman but i never tried to fight any bosses!

My advice is wait until level45, look for a group for it and set a level requirement when you look for people. The reason why is because the final boss is level47 (thats why I recommend 45 so the boss will be yellow) and summon adds at some point: if you go with a level 40s group theres a good chance you'll just wipe.
Now why do you want to beat the final boss? Because theres a quest to grab after you beat him that gives a 14slots bag.
Uldaman is a big bait: It starts with level36-39+ enemies, end with a 47boss. You can do most of it with a level40 group and then surprise lvl47boss +adds,wipe.
He was nerfed in BC, just a FYI.
