A very cheap potion craftable and usable only by alchemists.
Side effects:
http://www.mmo-champion.com/images/news/2007/october/madalch_110307_111143.jpg
Edit: Just crafted a few of these on live server and I tell you, they rock! You can use them while grinding if you're low on health and mana, plus there's a chance you'll get a great buff like Adept's Elixir's buff for an hour. :)

I did some of my own testing today. Here are my conclusions:
*When drinking a Mad Alchemist Potion it always tries to give you one random buff.
*The selection of buffs is randomly chosen from the list of high level battle and guardian elixirs new in BC, as long as your class might possibly be able to use it.
*It first chooses the elixir buff to apply, then attempts to apply it once decided.
*If the user already has an elixir of this type (battle/guardian) active, the buff never happens, but you still get the health and mana.

Does this item share cooldown with other healing items,
for example the warlocks' healthstone?
Thanks Dynenth

Where do you learn it from?

I learned it from the Trainer in Shattrath. Not sure where else it can be learned.
When used by an alchemist it can proc a random elixir buff.
In four separate uses while in ZA on the PTR with my lock, the potion procced four elixir buffs at different times: Adept's x 2, Fortitude and Earthen.

I assume this also procs with discovery's?

Used these pretty regularly in my guild's TK raid tonight. I am a resto druid so I was getting some really not useful elixir buffs but I was getting one every time.
Only catch is, these seemed to not break the guardian/battle elixirs rules.

I would like to point out the benefits of this potion.
Extremely cheap materials. Ragveil is fairly abundant and easy to farm, not to mention you can make this with Crystal Vials not Imbued vials. Which are significantly cheaper per stack.
Alchemists Only! Yay! We finally get something nobody else does!
Restores mana and health which will benefit all classes.
No more need to farm the annoying mats for health/mana pots since it will share the cooldown of those.
And of course the elixir buffs that it will give you! Random it may be, but I ain't never complainin' bout' no free elixir buffs.

Yes you do get discoveries from this, just crafted 7 Mad Alchemist's Potions and got a Super Rejuvenation Potion discovery off of it. Looks like it'll be a cheap way to proc discoveries too.
In fact, gotten two discoveries from it so far definitively a nice way to get discoveries relatively cheaply.

After doing some testing in a raid tonight I discovered this potion will only give you the type of elixir that you have open. If you have a battle elixir already on it will either refresh that elixir or give you a guardian elixir. Vise versa if you have a guardian elixir on. Also it does not buff you with an elixir that would help your class. It is completely random in that sense. For example: Onslaught elixir buff on a priest.

Just wanted to throw this out there for Warlocks:
Throw up 2-3 lifetaps and chug one of these, you have just regenerated 5-6k mana. As an Alchemist Destruction Warlock, these pots are just ridiculous and provide immense benefits to this particular class/spec, especially in a raiding situation.
评论来自
Aevitas
Available from
Lorokeem
in Shattrath City, but supposedly from any
Master alchemy trainer.
This potion instantly regenerates your mana and health. This potion is also influenced by the Alchemist's Stone, which increases mana and HP gained from the potion by 40%.
Materials required to make one Mad Alchemist's Potions are:
•
Ragveil
x2
•
Crystal Vial
Quote from WoW Wiki:
The random side effects appear randomly, and match the effects of known elixirs. The random effects will not overwrite existing flask/elixir effects, so they do not appear if you are already under the effects of a flask or two elixirs.

^ That is false. I just recieved Onslought Elixir (+60 ap) on my priest. The side affect is chosen randomly from ALL elixirs, not just ones your class can use.

So I pose this question:
Does anyone see a reason to NOT carry these instead of regular Mana and Heal pots? My Shaman is thoroughly addicted to these and has been since I was leveling him. If you have your flasks/elixir buffs already why not use these INCREDIBLY cheap potions that actually restore MORE than a Super Heal or Super Mana?
Unless I am completely missing something, I would like to see a few other people's opinions of this.

Is there any way of confirming that there are NO NEGATIVE (i.e. Debuff) side-effects? If so please post how. I always assumed that eventually taking one would send me mad and cause me to turn into a mushroom at some critical moment, but perhaps I am wrong.

These things are *amazing*, and ragveil is so ridiculously easy to get in quantity, unlike the netherbloom required for super healypots.
I have been planning to swap alchemy for leatherworking, but I am now one happy (and frequently, mad) alchemist!

The only "real" problem with this is I wouldn't say they have any utility for raiding. Generally you'd be using elixrs/flasks already (rather than relying on a lucky side effect from these) and so the buff would be useless. As they don't restore as much mana or health as a super pot then there's really no sense using MAP's over them for raiding. However if restoring health and mana at the same time is useful for you then they're a cheap alternative to super rejuvination pots.
They're still handy for general PVE/PVP though.

i usually use them for raids because they are the best raiding pots for alchemists if you are a raider and cast/heal i should say these pots are really worth raiding

This is definitely not correct. As a priest, I've gotten the Fel Strength Elixir buff and the Onslaught Elixir every so often. Not to mention the Agi one.
Purely random I'm sure.

does anyone know if the buffs given are completely randomized? i remember reading something about them
usually
buffing with caster vs melee buffs based on class. i've only used them a few times on my alch lock (never need to used pots...drain life ftw) and i remember them
usually
giving me draenic wisdom, adepts elixir, healing power, fort, etc. i only got onslaught and earthen once each (if i remember correctly).
I'm respeccing my boomkin into alch and
IF
the buffs aren't completely randomized, I'm concerned how they check caster vs melee with hybrid classes...
I may be wrong but any input will help. thanks in advance =D

This does NOT select only useful buffs as some have commented. Not unless priests can somehow make use of Fel Strength Elixirs. It merely selects randomly from the list.

I was thinking, there are warrior, rogue and druid alchemists too (obviously), would it be an idea to give them some bang for their buck too apart from the nice health boost?
Mad Alchemists potion (rogue/cat druid version)
Requires Level 60
Requires Alchemy (315)
Use: Restores 1650 to 2750 health and
30 to 40 energy
. Sometimes has side effects. (2 Min Cooldown)
Mad Alchemists potion (warrior/bear druid version)
Requires Level 60
Requires Alchemy (315)
Use: Restores 1650 to 2750 health and
instantly generates 15 to 30 rage
. Sometimes has side effects. (2 Min Cooldown)
minor tweaking to current mana restoring effects, tweaking to the energy or rage restored for balance and competitiveness compared to the original. and maybe drop a ragveil and replace with dreaming glory or felweed.
would generate extra energy or rage with alchemists stone obviously.
i would post this on the suggestion forums but pedobear got me permabanned sadly. that said, anyone thinking this is a neat idea and a little pat on the back for warrior/rogue/druid alchemists, feel free to post this on the suggestion forums for me (with credit ofc *cough* ).

Good potion to save some money vs using Super mana potions:
Average mana gain is 2200 MAP vs 2400 for a Super mana Potion (1.677 mp5 difference)
3080 vs 3360 once you have an Alchemy Trinket equipped (2.33 mp5 difference)

Although at first glance the "not being able to use at full health" sounds crappy if you're a healer in a raid; just pop a demonic rune before one of these and it solves all of your problems. You can't write a macro to do it for you.

"Side Effects" so far for me has meant: normal +health/mana effect + the effects of some random lvl 60 potion.
I've gotten the effects of:
-Adept's Elixir
-Elixir of Ironskin
I'll edit my post when i use this potion more and see more effects. I'm curious as to whether there are any debuffs that can occur from this potion.

these potions are amazing. easy to make, slighty more HP then Super Health pot. slightly less Mana then Super Mana Pot. but you get both so its just plain better (as a Pally you couldnt ask for more from a pot). and i have not once recieved a Debuff from this.
Also, the mat's are cheap and easy to get. you can eat these things like candy and not even care. if you have the Alchemist trinket it makes these things just short of OP. wonderfull for BGs.

Lorekeem in shatarath sells these. Alchemist only with mats like 2 ragviel and the 3rd tier glass. Extremely cheap. Does proc discoveries like flasks and rejuv. It doesnt give anything negative just a positive guardian/battle elixer chosen randomly according to your class.
More health than the super health but a little less than the mana one. Alchemists stone does work with this for a major amount of health and mana every 2 mins.
It should be noted that while it is according to class, its anything which will even minutely benefit you. So rogues will not get mana and spell casting elixer buffs. Mages will not get Str or agility elixer buffs. However you are likely to get armor buffs and the resilience buff, say while raiding. It might not be something you really want at the moment or like to have but it will provide SOME form of betterment to your being
This doesnt override the guardian or battle elixer you have, if it choses to give you a battle elixer and you already have one, you dont get a buff, if you didnt have a guardian, you get one. But if you get the same buff you have on, it will renew the time. If you manually use an actual buff potion, it will overirde.
Great for farming and great for raids, since its quite better than the rejuv potion with what it gives compared to how cheap it is.

no comments yet ?
Actually, this is one of the best things we alchemists got, it's so amazingly cheap since it uses the cheaper vials and there is no really good other use for ragveil, so everybody can use the tons they probably have in their bank.
The side effects I've had so far were always those of elixiers, and it doesn't seem so random: on battlegrounds, I got the +30 resilience effect, with several mobs hitting me I got the +550 armor one.
GREAT Pot, now I can save the pure mana/heal pots for my other chars.

Yeah very useful pot as it does jsut as much healing as a super healing potion, so far i've had the buffs from Earthen, Major fortitude, major agility and fel strength elixirs.
Highly recommended to any warriors with alchemy ^_^

As a priest I've gotten Adepts Elixir, Elixir of Mastery, Fortitude, Major Armor and Major Strength. I probably looked like a noob, running around as a priest with major strength buff on.
Note though, if you already have a battle elixir buff on you, it will not overwrite it. So if I know I'm going to be using one of these pots and my current pot buff is almost up I cancel it out right before drinking this to reup my buffs. Very, very handy potions.

This is a great potion. I used to make the Rejuvination ones but they cost me loads, this potion cost at most 1g if you have to buy the matts. I use it all the time and have noticed that the side effect seems to randomly give a random elixir but only if that type is not already on. You can only have one type of Battle and one type of Guardian Elixir at any one time. I am usually buffed with Adepts and Draenae Elixirs so only notice the effect when one of those has run out. Thought I was going mad(note the pun) at first and maybe clicking on potions in my bag until i got the Ironskin one which i never use. Replace your mana, healing rejuv potions with these little beauties.

All the buffs I've seen this grant are exactly the same as various 330+ skill elixirs, totally random, and if you're lucky enough to get a battle and guardian, you're all set. You can even get effects from elixirs that you don't know how to make yet. Add to that the excellent restorative abilities and super-cheap mats, and you can just make a billion of these and go nuts.

I'm not sure how random the side effects are. The tooltip says "sometimes has side effects", however in my experience it ALWAYS has side effects and they're always positive.
The effect may be class-based. Earlier comments above notwithstanding, as a mage I've never gotten a "useless" buff out of this. I get Adept's Elixir (yay) very often, and Earthen Elixir (boo) nearly as often. I've never gotten a buff that was useless to me as a mage, though (str, agi, etc).
Has anyone else seen that the buffs seem to be class-appropriate?

These exclusive potions are much cheaper than super rejuvenation for the same amount restored. They also have a chance to trigger bonus elixir buffs. If you just want to guzzle these for the restore however, rest assured they do not overwrite any active buffs.
