if they all return you to 100% mana then why would you need 4 ranks?...as far i I can tell each rank just drains more mana from you Demon.

This spell is very useful in raiding situations. For pvp, utilizing your pet is important, so draining it's mana during battle wouldn't be a good idea.
However, during raids, this spell is extremely handy - especially if the instance is on farm status which means that there is not usually much time to sit and drink. I'd recommend it to any lock that wants to be on the top of the damage charts... no downtime is always nice!

By far the worst 31 point talent for warlock, after the 2.01 patch it now affected by your spell dmg, witch at first seems great. You could get over 1k mana in one click. on the other hand, the only pet useful for this is the imp, with its phase shift, it will be the only one that will not die in a raid, and it will regen much faster when its occ. but it only has 1800 mana or so, so after one dark pact you will have brought its mana down over half. if you spam it for mana in a raid, you will get about 1k then 800 then about 14-50 unless you wait another 20 sec. life tap on the other hand also is affected by spell dmg and if you are a affliction lock, you will most likely be just doting the mobs and drain life thanks to the patch, so you will get all your health back very quickly. One should NEVER get dark pact.

does this spell return all your max Mana. or does it only return 100% of the 250 Subtracted from your pet?

It only adds 250 mana.
Otherwise it wold be senseless to buy the second or third rank

mindcontrol enemy caster (if you are an enigineer) and just drains he's mana with this :P

hmm, with this, i can waste a talent point that can be spent in ruin, OR i can sacrifice the like 450 health to get 550 mana or something with the imp life tap..... hmmmmmmm...

Dark Pact should be like the Lich's Dark Ritual: Sacrifice the pet to add either 33%, 66%, or 100% of the pet's current health to your mana. That would make a reason to get the higher levels of the spell, plus would give more than 250 mana (unless pet was almost dead). Besides, pets are already fully capable of emptying their own mana pool by themselves. Why make it easier for them?

This spell is invaluable in endgame instances for a lock. Since we're left to phase shifted imp duties, the imp merely functions as an uber mana battery. Warlocks meanwhile have little in the way of mana conservation when spamming shadowbolt. Thus, on endurance bosses like Rag, instead of life tapping and sucking up your healer's valuable mana, I can take my pet's mana instead. By the end of the battle while the mages have burnt up their evocations, the other locks are tapped out, the healers are manaless, and the hunters are just plucking away, I'm still launching a neverending volley of Shadowbolts. This talent should not be underestimated.

Dark Pact is one of the best skills for warlocks that like to use any shadow spells. because they can just get +spell damage gear and dont need alot of int gear (although that doesnt mean you dont need alot of mana). but you also cannot count on this to be your only way of mana regeneration. I'd say this skill would mostly be used to reduce downtime by a whole lot, and to not hurt yourself while regenerating mana. Keep in mind that you need to have a pet summoned to use this skill...

Also dont count on this skill in combat. you need to use drain mana if your low on it, and if you dont have enough mana to do that use Dark Pact once then use drain mana.

darkpact req 31 points
Demonic Sacrifice only 21 points
darkpact returns 250 mana per cast with a 1.5 sec global cooldown so 250 mana per 1.5 sec
Lifetap gains 502+ mana at the cost of 420 life per 1 sec
Demonic Sacrifice regens 2% mana per 4 sec meaning like 120 mana per 4 sec on 6k mana.
or with 3% like 120 life per 4 sec on 4k life .
I prefear the life or mana per 4 sec anyday over a pet's mana that will be empty anyway after a copple of drains.
If you regen 120life + others you can get 170 life per 4 sec ezy lifetap = mana = shadowbolt.
or you can use the soccubus to get 15% damage bonus omg imba...

In big instances you would prolly use imp to get blood pact to party, and thats good I tell ya. Imps mana regen is INSANE, and since it regens even when you drain it you should have gotten enough when imp mana is out to do many bolts more (as lvl ~50 i get 2,5k-3k man on one full imp drain). When ur mana is out imps mana will be up again and you can drain.

"Endless" mana is better than all other talent you could get according to me.

Dark Pact is damn usefull in endgame instances on bosses.. You can just summon your imp (which gives a nice stamina bonus any way), and make it phase shift, so it won't die of aoe or anything, and just put it on passive. When you're low on mana, just do dark pact some times and continue your spamming..

Blizz increased its range by 10 yards, so now you can keep your imp near the melee if need be. Also, max rank drains a whopping 700 mana and gives it to you.

Anyone know if this skill benefits from +spell damage from gear; or if it benefits from -15% shadow cost from 8/8 felheart?

This move is so good, but its only for affliction locks. It mkaes no sense because affliction spell are very low mana and i dont think tey will get a good use of it. If our destruction or demonlogy it would be more helpful.

If you have never used dark pact don't make a comment about it. I have gone thru all 3 trees and I can tell you this is a very good spell. Your imp has a ton of mana and if left on passive you can dps like crazy while he regenerates his whole mana bar in less than 60 seconds. You don't need high spirit or int because you regenerate faster than casters on water. I out dps every caster everytime because I have no down time. I never run out of mana.

I repeat I NEVER RUN OUT OF MANA. All of my gear is increased spell damage so I have the lowest int, stam, and spirit but I can outlast anyone in any PVP or PVE anything. This is the best 31 point talent in the game and it has increased since the most recent patch and stacks with +spell damage gear. Ruin and soul link have nothing on this spell.
