I like this talent , ultimate talent for a Two-Hander, You get instant hit with +dmg , and against shamans , paladins , Priests. if you are a two-hander i would say TAKE THIS ;) how slower weapon how better this talent. Cooldown not long , when cooldown gone you got another 30 rage good luck with it
Ultimate healer gimper. If you're fighting a paladin who you know is about to use his divine shield to heal himself, use mortal strike immediately before he does so. This should cut back on the amount of HP he heals himself by a large amount (this also goes for any other healer, of course) and should give you a pretty neat advantage.
To get the most out of MS (ie the largest numbers) you'll be looking for a weapon with a very high maximum damage value. Good examples are the Whirlwind Axe, Kang the Decapitator, and pretty much all of the HWL 2hers, which are much more easily available.
Generally, that will be a big, slow 2-hand weapon.
You get it through the talent tree, arms, put all your points in there and at 40 you place a point into Mortal strike, and its all yours.
Skills will be lost when you unlearn.
Here's a step guide from basic.
1. Use 30 points in Arms line.
2. Use the 1 point in Mortal Strike (At the very bottom of the Arms talent tree)
3. Go to a trainer and learn Lvl 2/3 w/e.
(To clear up an earlier misconception; you don't have to have 40 points in arms, just 30. What he meant is to be LEVEL 40)
To get mortal strike u will need to get 30 points in arms tree including one point in sweeping strikes. The tree is pretty self explanatory in it self as it says what is requiered to get the talent when u hold ur pointer over it.
A personal suggestion is to read the wow forums about how to build the type of warrior u want during ur lvling. Thus u won't have to spend extra cash in rebuilding when u get to lvl 60.
It might be wise to build ur warrior in arms exclusevely until u get MS, rather than dividing ur talent points between the trees, if ur planning on an MS build for ur warrior. Having mortal strike sure helps in the grinding process as u will kill mobs faster, thus making xp/s increase.
Just wanted to clarify the effect of Mortal Strike. I'm only lv 24, so I'm trying to see what it would do. Am I right that it is NOT like a shield bash (regarding the reduced healing) because you do not have to press the button as the enemy might begin to heal. Rather, with this, you might use it towards the end of the fight, and it would be like (execute+rend) that hurts them a great deal and would inhibit any healing the enemy might LATER do (up to 10 seconds later). Is this right? Is it pretty handy?
well i usually use this cuz its an instant attack. and with my ice barbed spear i hit for at least 300 on every hit with that... on crits i can get it up on over 1200 :)
the other stuff about healing is just a bonus :)
How can this be dispelled/removed?
Well, the only way it can really be dispelled is if you are a mage and you cast iceblock.
There is no way to get rid of the healing debuff otherwise.
By far any PvP warriors bread and butter, gives you an extra atk + makes your enemies weaker, UNLESS you are a protection spec for PvE tanking you are nothing w/out this skill
Is this worth it for 31 talent or should I go to protection and get concussion blow instead?
Being a 60 warrior...I've tried every tree out. Here is my input
Arms - Mortal Strike
Mortal Strike is the most powerful warrior move and requires a slow 2 handed weapon preferrably speed 3.20 or slower. My suggestion...spec Mortal Strike once you have a decent 2 hander of 50 dps or higher and speed 3.20 or slower
Fury - Bloodthirst
Bloodthirst is a move that can be used with any weapon preferrably dual wielding with a main hand weapon 2.20 speed or slower and an offhand of 2.00 speed or faster. Though the heal involved with this move is weak...it has saved me in the past. Anyone can go with Bloodthirst.
Protection - Shield Slam
I wouldn't reccomend speccing shield slam unless you are ready to be balls to the wall tanking for raiding purposes. I did have some fun tanking in MC with Shield Slam however often critting for 1k+. The 1k crits don't compare to my Mortal Strike and Bloodthirst crits however often twice as much. The one thing that is nice about protection is that your executes aren't affected by weapon so you still do the same execute damage relatively (i.e. me critting Gehennas with a Timeworn Mace and shield for 3684 back in my noob days :P)
In all....Mortal Strike is for big big hits, Bloodthirst is for decent damage and a small heal, and Shield Slam is for medium damage and threat. Hopefully you can make a decision based on this info though this does only apply to level 40+ players. :)
Which is better this or death wish? I noticed this costs quite alot of rage, but if its making big crits is it worth missing death wish for?
i finally hit 40+ and re-spec'd my warrior and now have mortal strike. someone please tell me how i inflict this? Its not an icon that i click? Its a 'talent' so does it comes up randomly?
Sorry for my noobiness. I usually miss out on the intricacies of games cuz I'm too busy just killing things.
never ever spec to protection if you are not lvl60 who is going to tank. Id say fury is the best for leveling and dps dealing, arms for pvp and its ok at everything. Only thing why I hate protection is the long fights, killing a mob takes about 4 times more time than with fury or arms. I have tried arms twice, protection twice, and now Im going to spec to fury after I get my Blackfury..
Well Ap affects weapon dmg so yeah but no it doesnt affect this directly, Now if u want more damage with it just get improved Mortal strike which really is a waste of talent points but if you use it alot why not.
Does mortal strike give you a chance to crit for higher then normal or is it just a base on you attack power like everything else?
If I get this, and buy the mortal strike 2, then respec somthing, then come back to mortal strike, do I have to rebuy mortal strike 2?
frostbolt does no way crit higher. word
Where can i become mortal strike level 1?
it's nice thing :)
It is in your Arms skill tree. You have to spend like 20 talent points in arms to get it.
Y is this cool?
-The Great Rikabu-WarChief of the DDF
because it can stop healers in their track on healing themselvs in pvp for them only getting 50% of thier hp up at a cost of alot of mana then you can give them a lot more digs. That coupled with pummel and shield slam makes all the differance for you have stopped them useing spells in that same spell pool
you need 30 mins using auto attack to use this ability
