Abilities Earned While Leveling from 50 to 60 in Shadowlands
The Level Squish necessitated a reassigning of the Levels at which each Ability is learned. Inevitably some of those fell beyond the maximum Level for Battle for Azeroth. These are the Abilities that Hunters will gain access to as they level through Shadowlands.

General
荒野医疗
- level 52 - Mend Pet heals for an additional 15% of your pet's health over its duration.

- level 54 - When Tranquilizing Shot successfully dispels an effect, gain 10 Focus.

- level 56 - The cooldown of Tar Trap and Freezing Trap is reduced by 5 sec.

- level 58 - Kill Shot's critical damage is increased by 25%.
Blizzard's Hunter Patch Notes
Blizzard has released Patch Notes including the class changes for Shadowlands. The following is the class change summary for Hunters.
PvP Talent changes
Survival Tactics now reduces damage taken by 90% (down from 99%) and can now be used to reduce damage from spells that are already mid-air.
Marksmanship
Trueshot now increases your Focus regen and Focus generation by 50% while active in addition to its current effects.
Classes: Hunter
General
Stable size has been increased to 200 (was 60).
Wing Clip can now be used with bows, guns and crossbows. Wing Clip will be replaced with Concussive Shot at level 13 for Beast Mastery and Marksmanship Hunters.
Revive Pet now has a 4 second cast time (was 2 seconds).
All Hunters can now use the following abilities:
New Ability: Kill Shot – You attempt to finish off a wounded target, Physical damage. Only usable on enemies with less than 20% health.
New Ability: Scare Beast – Scares a beast, causing it to run in fear for up to 20 seconds. Damage caused may interrupt the effect. Only one beast can be feared at a time.
New Ability: Eyes of the Beast – Take direct control of your pet and see through its eyes for 1 min.
New Ability: Tranquilizing Shot – Removes 1 Enrage and 1 Magic effect from an enemy target.
Pets that used to have Tranquilizing Shot as their special family ability now remove 1 poison, magic, and disease effect from the pet. 10 second cooldown.
Hunter's Mark – No longer a Marksmanship Talent. Apply Hunter's Mark to the target, allowing the target to always be seen and tracked by the Hunter. Only one Hunter's Mark can be applied at a time.
Arcane Shot – A quick shot that causes Arcane damage.
Beast Mastery
Misdirection threat percentage increased by 100%.
Spirit Mend (Spirit Beast pet ability) healing reduced by 66%.
Aspect of the Wild no longer has a global cooldown.
Bestial Wrath now causes your pet to instantly deal damage to your target upon activation.
Multi-Shot and Beast Cleave now capped at 5 targets.
The following Talents have been adjusted:
New Talent: Bloodshed – Command your pet to tear into your target, causing your target to bleed over 18 seconds and increase all damage taken from your pet by 15% for 18 seconds. 1 minute cooldown.
Dire Beast no longer costs focus.
Scent of Blood has been redesigned – Activating Bestial Wrath grants 2 charges of Barbed Shot.
Venomous Bite has been redesigned and renamed Spitting Cobra: When Bestial Wrath ends, summon a Spitting Cobra to aid you in combat for 15 seconds. Each Cobra Shot used during Bestial Wrath increases the damage this Spitting Cobra deals by 10%.
Stampede now has a 2 minute cooldown (was 3 minutes) and capped at 5 targets per beast per wave of Stampede.
Barrage now capped at 8 targets.
Marksmanship
Rapid Fire duration lowered to 2 seconds (was 3 seconds). Total damage dealt by Rapid Fire is unchanged.
Aimed Shot focus cost increased to 35 (was 30).
Arcane Shot focus cost increased to 20 (was 15).
Multi-Shot focus cost increased to 20 (was 15) and damage is now capped at 5 targets.
Binding Shot is no longer a Talent and learned by all Marksmanship Hunters at level 33.
The following Talents have been adjusted:
New Talent: Chimaera Shot – A two-headed shot that hits your primary target and another nearby target for reduced damage, dealing Nature damage to your primary target and reduced Frost damage to your secondary target. Replaces Arcane Shot, is instant cast and costs 20 focus.
New Talent: Binding Shackles (Passive) – Targets rooted by Binding Shot deal 20% less damage to you for 8 seconds after the root effect ends.
New Talent: Dead Eye (Passive) – Kill Shot has 2 charges, and causes Aimed Shot to recharge 50% faster for 3 seconds.
New Talent: Volley (replaces Piercing Shot) – Rain a volley of arrows down over 6 seconds, dealing Physical damage to any enemy in the area, and gain the effects of Trick Shots for as long as Volley is active. Volley is instant cast and has a 45 second cooldown.
Master Marksman has been redesigned – Your critical shots cause your target to bleed for 15% of the damage dealt over 6 seconds.
Serpent Sting duration increased to 18 seconds (was 12 seconds).
Careful Aim has had the low health benefit removed as it felt redundant with Kill Shot returning. Additionally, now the bonus damage is applied to targets above 70% health (was 80%).
Steady Focus has been redesigned – Casting Steady Shot twice in a row now increases your haste by 7% for 15 seconds.
Streamline (Passive) has been redesigned – Rapid Fire damage is increased by 15%, and Rapid Fire now also reduces the cast time of your next Aimed Shot by 30%.
Lethal Shots proc chance has been increased to 30% (was 20%).
Lock and Load's proc chance has been increased to 8% (was 5%).
Barrage now capped at 8 targets.
Explosive Shot now capped at 6 targets.
Survival
The following Talents have been adjusted:
Tip of the Spear now causes Kill Command to increase the damage of your next Raptor Strike by 25% (was 20%), stacking up to 3 times.
Flanking Strike now has a 30 second cooldown (was 40 seconds).
Chakrams now costs 15 focus (was 30).
Carve and Butchery now capped at 5 targets.

Posthaste: clearing movement impairing effects, and increasing your movement speed by 50% for 4 sec
Narrow Escape: and activating a web trap which encases all targets within 8 yards in sticky webs, preventing movement for 8 sec.

Hunter Talent Changes for Shadowlands

Rapidly fires a spray of shots for 3 sec, dealing an average of Physical damage to allup to 8 enemies in front of you. Usable while moving.

Fires a magical projectile, tethering the enemy and any other enemies within 5 yards for 10 sec, rooting them in place for 8 sec if they move more than 5 yards from the arrow.
Now baseline for Marksmanship

Apply Hunter's Mark to the target, increasing all damage you deal to the marked target by 5%. If the target dies while affected by Hunter's Mark, you instantly gain 20 Focus. The target can always be seen and tracked by the Hunter.
Only one Hunter's Mark can be applied at a time.
No longer a talent, now baseline for all specs

Every Focus you spend reduces the remaining cooldown on Exhilaration by 1 sec.
Beast Mastery Hunter Shadowlands Class Change Highlights
NEW
Bloodshed (Talent):
Beast Mastery Hunters teach their companions to tear into their target. The unfortunate quarry will bleed significantly, causing them to take more damage from their pet.
Scent of Blood (Talent):
Reworked. This passive now activates when Bestial Wrath is used—granting two charges of Barbed Shot to bloody a target and empower their bonded beast to take down threats quickly.
Venomous Bite (Talent):
Reworked. Moved to
Spitting Cobra
's place in talent tree. When Bestial Wrath ends, a cobra will come to aid the Hunter in combat. The serpent’s power will increase based on how many times they used Cobra Shot during Bestial Wrath.

I really hope they get rid of Spitting Cobra and just replace it with Blood Shed. Having that against Aspect of the Beast is really, really bad. Or just swap there talent row locations to have Spitting Cobra against Aspect of the Beast. Blood Shed feels like it should be baseline kinda to me. I'd rather stick to a bleed style spec in BM (since they will never wise up and make BM the melee and survival the bomber/grenadier no pet spec, throwing a grenade in your pets face will never make sense to me...) than this odd snake obsession when it is the one spec that doesn't have access to serpent sting or a poison dot at all. Just me still hating cobra shot still... love barbed shot.

Please tell me Wildfire Bomb doesn’t have a cap on targets hit. Please give Survival some kind of an edge. Give Survival at least one reason why it would be accepted by the WoW community. Even if the damage is there, Survival gets poo’d on, but it’s an extremely fun spec to play. Marksman and Beast Mastery will definitely keep a spot in any group because of the high demand for ranged classes. Give Survival something, even if it’s only good for big M+ pulls.

mm is fine fortunately. kill shot is a good addition(come back) to play and class fantasy. good job there.
bm is an ok class. it takes a lot to mess it although I'm confident they are capable to do just that, like this 6 second cast of revive pet. why change that? 6 second in the middle of a fight is a disaster.
as for survival. honestly it sucks. it sucks in bfa and apparently it will continue to do so in shadow lands. I mean is it a hybrid, is it NOT a hybrid? these abilities won't mesh together. their idea in legion was far better. a class based on traps, bombs and bleeds. now it looks like a warrior with a spear.

I think my biggest concern to hunters in general is Hunter's Mark, and looking at the hunter discord, there seems to be a agreement on this.
Hunter's Mark just feels soo bad to press cause of its gcd. It they make it atleast out of the gcd then i have no issues in the specs.
Pet revive increased to 6sec can be annoying specialy for bm, as we alredy have a cast time to dismiss the pet (unlike warlocks that can dismiss pets just by starting to summon another or insta dismissing it) but i wouldnt call it game changer. Pets alredy avoid most aoe mechanics and only die during encounters on very rare occasions.
(I dont play survival soo i cant comment much on it, but changes dont feel that bad on paper)

Marksman Hunter is terrible now looks to still be bad in Shadowlands they reworked a spec that was amazing on WOD was a little worse at the beginning of Legion got worse after they "fixed focus". The current MM iteration is why I quit at the beginning of BFA it is clunky and play terribly over 95% of the community agrees with this and hardly anyone plays it yet Blizzard is still going forward with the spec basically as is if you want all hunters to play BM just take MM and Survival out of the game because both of those specs are terrible and a very miniscule number of people play them fix MM make Survival ranged again and a mix of MM and BM or just remove them.

please return revive pet to 2 seconds. I know locs have the same problem but they can summon a new one while the current one is active and alive. a hunters pet is very important. without a pet they lose a good chunk of their output.
also some love for survival please? my bm and mm hunter are ilvl of 470 but my survival is 370. right now no one cares about survival.

I don't see that happening. Some people, not many, love the BfA Survival, but it is near impossible to play in any serious content. Why have a class such as hunter with three damage specs, but only one is viable and extremely boring to play? As of right now Beast Master has 127,067 parses on warcraft logs, Survival has 1,087 and Marksman has 2,695. Do you really not see anything wrong with that? I don't mind it being unique, but having a melee spec that brings zero utility to a raid doesn't help, please put some love into Survival.

So let me see if i understand these survival hunter changes/buffs:
you say you buff certain abilities to make sure players use other talents yet you nerf mastery so the buff arent even gona mather.
you buff tip of the spear yet mongoose bite is still gona be the only choice in that tier unless its completly removed or baseline.
you give us kill shot but make it cost no focus ( only on survival because it costs 10focus as a MM /BM) making it not scale with our NERFED mastery.
if you go on live a 475 ilvl survival hunter does 6k dmg baseline with carve and yet we see no improvements to our aoe besides the small buff to butchery.
on live most hunters dont use serpent sting on a pve rotation unless they have picked viper's venom.
What i want to see for survival hunter?
Mongoose bite baseline
A reason for me to use vipers sting
Kill shot cost focus so its actualy a priority on our rotation
Wildfire bombs hit targets arround the target instead of in a cone
Have an actual aoe rotation, maybe the return of the legion artifact ability as an aoe talent, maybe have a talent where you ignite the tar trap with wildfire bombs to do aoe fire dmg.
Make Coordinated assault a good ability to press an not a boring 20% more dmg
Bring some SURVIVAL flavor back ( maybe give us mending bandage baseline or something to buff our tankiness because in terms of survival we have nothing)

Suggestions for Fixing Survival Hunter:
1
. Mongoose Bite should be baseline. It adds flavor to the class, and as of BFA it is still a mandatory talent.
2
. Butchery should be baseline. Carve is such a boring spell. It is only there to reduce the cooldown on your bombs, and just think what they could replace this talent with. I foresee some creative aoe/cleave options that could be a lot of fun once Butchery is baseline.

. Kill Shot shouldn't cost Focus. If Mongoose Bite remains a mandatory talent, it's going to feel super bad to cast Kill Shot during the Mongoose Bite burst window. We already have to forgo Serpent Sting and our bombs during this period and that feels bad. Casting Kill Shot is going to slow things down drastically in the long run.
4
. Counter Shot should replace Muzzle. Giving Survival a ranged interrupt like the Shaman's Wind Shear will help the spec's utility.
5
. Give Survival Aspect of the Wild. It makes a ton of sense to have another cooldown like Aspect of the Wild for Survival. The additional 5 focus per second will be huge for Survival's Mongoose Bite burst window.

I miss more Explosive shot (and Black Arrow) ON SURVIVAL, than the first in MM. MM shouldn't be using things that should be used by the other specs, and all the other way around. Sure, some skills, like Hunter's MArk, and Kill shot (MAYBE), should never be changed/removed.
For example, A Murder of Crows should be BM only, explosive trap, bombs, black arrow, SV only, Serpent Sting, BM and SV, and etc. Blizz is screwing with each of the class' spec fantasy.
I tried all 3 specs and MM can be good but I still don't like the fantasy of the spec, at least since legion.
SV, for people 'not liking', TRY it out for a period of time, try some rotations, it's not totally melee, nor totally ranged. The only melee skills can be 3 of them, ST Raptor/Mongoose, AoE Carve/Butchery and the shorter interrupt of the class, Muzzle. I rather think of the spec as an 'improved' melee dpser. Highly mobile (like Havoc and WW Monks), can deal DoT Damage (from ranged Serpent Stings) like UH DK, can become 'ranged' for 15 with Aspect of the EAgle (for those few moments you REALLY shouldn't be near your target(s)).
If people stop complaining and change their mindset a bit, they can get the hang of the spec. It isn't

in terms of DPS, can even outDPS BM in most cases, I've seen some SV, mine included, outDPS BM of similar ilvl and setup.
The only good addition I see is the Kill Shot, no focus cost, ranged too. All else, talents not changed that much, still Mongoose Bite will rule on it's talent line.
Also, wasn't the ORIGINAL (from Classic) SV a melee spec? Even BfA one is still more ranged than melee. Raptor/Mongoose Bite damage gets surpassed by Serpent Sting, Kill Command and the bombs (all ranged attacks) in some cases, specially on multitarget fights.

The 6 second cast on pet rez is going to be ROUGH in the beginning of the expansion, at the very least. Not exactly looking forward to that myself.. Seems needlessly punishing, same for Warlocks. Some pets are just squishy as can be, and die way too fast. Now it's even more of a problem. I understand that some could see a pet class as having an advantage because we have a 'tank' with us, but honestly. I'd settle for 4 seconds if they want to raise it, but tripling the cast time is way too much.

At this Point Survival isnt Survival at all, its just a Melee Bm hunter. Wheres the traps? Why doesn't wildfire bomb give focus regen over time?. I like the idea of the Tar trap bomb combo, leaving a flame patch. Why is the only offensive trap a talent? What they should do is make the first 2 talents of survival be a choice of ranged or melee then based off that option the talents change. Like If they wanted to they could easily just convert bm into melee and keep how it works at ranged into melee, raptor strike replaces cobra shot and wow look a melee hunter with a decent tool kit that makes sense. Then change survival back to range and it being the trap throwing explosives experts they once were.

I stopped feeling like a "mm hunter" when they added "rapid fire". When using this skill, I no longer feel like a powerfull "sniper". In my opinion they should modify it to resemble legion marked shot, an ability that shoots fast without channeling, or failing that a talent that changes the setting of "rapid fire" to fire 1-3 quick shots before a channeled one.
About Surival I have little to say, mongose bite should be a baseline ability, as long as it is a talent it will overshadow the rest.
Aside from the mongose bite some talents feel really worthless, I personally love wildifre infusion talent and I see Survival a very fun and powerfull class to use but some of their talents are incompetent against the rest.
About Bm I dont have nothing to say about Bm because i dont paly it. :P

Despite the kill shot, there is not any other change at all. This class still feels weird and doesn’t really feel like a unique spec but more like some estrange beast mastery play style.
Basic hunter changes:
Steady shot and Arcane shot were added for all the hunter specs but in the end, these abilities would work only for BM and MM since you can only use them with a ranged weapon. No point on adding those abilities to SV.
Talents changes:
No significant changes over here, Increase of certain abilities. The purpose of this is to get more people involved to choose a variety of talents but as it is right now, it doesn’t seem to work too well. As right now in the alpha, because of the focus regeneration reduction, it is almost impossible to have a decent gameplay without the Wildfire Infusion talent, this forces the players to have basically the same rotation from BFA.
(I care a lot about this spec, it’s being always my main and I feel blizzard had abandoned it. I don’t hate it, but I can’t say I like it at all. I know they put a lot of effort on trying to create a good spect in Legion and it kind of worked…? I don’t know, but according to the stats, after Legion, SV hunters were one of the least played spect in WoW. I really want the best for this spect, maybe blizzard should reconsider the range option?)

Kill Shot literally makes no sense. It doesn't require Focus, so it isn't affected by Mastery which is already a bottom priority stat.
Removal of Azerite traits really hurts a lot. I was hoping they'd replace them with something similar, at least in the form of a talent or something. I will certainly miss extra 20 focus, the Coordinated Assault stacking agility for single target and cluster bombs for AoE.
It's such a shame Blizz decided to go for spec identity just to crap on it one addon later. Was a great fun playing a melee hunter. Oh well, switching back to warrior.

I really like my SV hunter, but was hoping to see it get a bit more identity in shadowlands. looks like it's still melee beast master for the most part without the cooler pets. They really need an "iconic" ability like whirlwind, or rampage, or that rogue thing where they teleport everywhere, or the spinny monk kick. Just something that's cool and unique looking that when you see it you go "Wow, yep, that's a SV hunter." All our abilities are extremely lackluster and not very cool looking at all.

I think hunter will be one of the last spec to come out of the alpha. I truly believe they are working on some kind of rework as we, hunters, are mainly dissapointed in SV and MM.
Being a Hunt since the old days, that's how I see the thing :
PvE :
-BM is super meta, but pretty boring to play. It feels like you ain't doing much and still going high on DPS.
-MM is ok but need more AOE focus. The AOE buff should be for 2 target and not 3.
-SV is pretty ok but with all the Expendient we're loosing, they should counterbalance the loss of haste, cause SV without haste is pretty bad.
PvP :
-BM is even more boring in PvP. Can't play that spec without feeling bad lol. It does constant damage and self heal but isn't that great imo once you need that super burst to knock down somebody.
-MM is good in RBG but super super bad as the survavibility is the worse I've ever seen on any spec tbh. They should get fox aspect back and it would be ok for me. And delete that rapid fire which is probably the worst ability in the entire game.
-SV is the strongest and really good, but would love to see some more trap/bomb base abilities so I could feel the spec fantasy a little more.

I would love to see the return of aspects. I miss back in Wrath having to change between aspect of the hawk and viper to get my mana back. I understand that hunters don't use mana anymore, but just make it so we can get our "energy/focus" back. Also I want to see aspect of the cheetah to return to its glory. The little speed boost is trash.

AMPLIFIED
IN SHADOWLANDS.
Vast majority of talents are extremely useless so your build is an absolute NON-CHOICE.
Murder of Crows is still mediocre for single target and absolutely bloody useless for any AoE situation (for both specs, since both have vastly superior talent choice in the that row), like it was forever by now. I HIGHLY SUGGEST at the very least, buff it's damage by at least 25% AND take it off GCD. If you cast it first, you literally do no damage for like 4 seconds until it starts doing it's terribly weak ticks and have to wait the whole GCD+Aimed Shot's long-a55 cast time to start seeing any damage. By the time Aimed is ready to shoot, the mob is already in your face since you don't use pet to taunt it and it's STILL at almost full HP. So you're better off initiating with Aimed Shot - but when you hit a target with aimed shot, it usually already shaves so much HP that putting a DOT on it is a waste of Focus (around lvl 35 my Aimed Shot does like 750 dmg with ~1500 crits and Crows do like 45 dmg per tick)
The entire ability is flawed as a talent. If you want to put an ability with VERY situational use (fighting 1 target at a time that dies within some 12 sec, otherwise you can't even USE the ability for another 45 sec), then make it BASELINE, not a talent where the other two choices are vastly superior.
Suggestion:
1) tune down the sound effect. It's entertaining the first time, but the constant LOUD cawing makes people go crazy. No wonder most people play WoW with sounds off.
2) make the ability baseline with 45 sec CD
3) rework a TALENT for the ability to instead refresh the DoT on target and spread the Murder of Crows DoT to nearby targets in 5y radius with 10 sec duration (2/3 of the ability's original duration)
- You get a moderately strong DoT with 33% uptime. When talented, you can double to uptime to up to 66% while also allowing you to spread the dot once every 45 seconds to multiple targets.
Though I can still see people choosing the flat 25% crit chance increase to Aimed Shot because it's way less work and no change to dps rotation.
Hunter's Mark provides NEGLIGIBLE damage increase for wasted GCD for anything below Elite/Boss level encounter (that even a weak ability like this is STILL better than Steady Focus and Streamline is a testament of how bad MM talents are). Sure in some situations you can pre-mark targets before you start the encounter, but you're generally too lazy to use it every time you have to switch targets.
Suggestions: Either remove the GCD so you can macro it, or just make it a passive talent so the Hunter's mark is always on the last target hit by a single target ability. Think it once even worked that way already... before they removed it and then re-added a mentally deficient version of it back.
Explosive Shot is another of those "talents" that should REALLY be a baseline ability. It's cooldown is very long so you can use it like once every 3 pulls and even then the damage is not THAT high. Having a choice between PURELY single target and PURELY multi-target talents in one row is extremely bad, especially since Tome of the Clear Mind costs like 80g each on my realm. Explosive Shot is just extremely bad for everything but M+, since, as MM you don't pull multiple mobs if you can help it (as it's now literally the most glass cannon spec in BFA and even killing rare mobs often has you sacrificing Lone Wolf for a pet tank. Sure, in the OLDE DAYS you could kite, but the mob density nowadays just has you collecting more and more mobs every step you take away from your target).
I loved Explosive Shot when it was still the staple of old Survival spec - sure it dealt way less damage than MM's Aimed Shot, but it exploded multiple times in an AoE. Chugging Explosive Shots and Explosive Traps at the enemy was fun. This current Explosive Shots is just VERY BORING way to inflate your action bars by another button you only press once every 30 seconds or more.

Seriously. Like 20 years and they STILL haven't fixed it. Whether it's a curve in the tunnel in a dungeon, or a small ledge, or just a random bump on the ground, if YOUR PET doesn't have direct line of sight AND a clear path to the enemy, you're locked out of half of your spec (unless you're MM, in which case you're more of a glass cannon than your shadow priest buddy). It doesn't matter that YOU have clear line of sight and path to enemy, your pet likes to stand to the side of you so you have to hug the right wall every time the path curves even slightly left to avoid this shi... ahem. Even worse when you jump off a ledge. You're better off just dismissing/calling the pet than waiting for 3 minutes till the guy comes the long way around (sometimes despawning spontaneously if the path took him TOO FAR from you). It even affects FLYING pets as they are programmed the same - unable to JUMP over anything... what's this, Lineage 2?.

My main character has been a hunter since vanilla. Every expansion there would be major changes to one or all of the hunter specs and every time I hated the changes at first and eventually got used to them. I felt like the best iteration for all 3 specs was in legion. each spec felt unique and fun.
When BfA was released Blizzard removed or changed a lot of the abilities that gave each of those specs identity and with Shadowlands they are further removing that identity.
Here is a list of the simple changes that I believe would make the hunter specs a lot more enjoyable.
MM: Don't change any of the spells but update the spell effects. MM is fun to play and does actually feel like a marksman hunter but their spells are so boring to look at. Back in legion they had lots of cool looking visual effects, maybe some of them can be repurposed for existing spells/abilities.
BM: Change barbed shot back to dire beast or at least make it a talent (legion version, not current talent). Having a huge hoard of animals as a BM hunter was one of the greatest moments ever. Too bad it only lasted one expansion.
SV: Make mongoose bite and butchery baseline. Mongoose bite is too powerful/interesting not to use and carve is one of the weakest AOE abilities in the game (plus it's animation is boring).
Also add back in the legion artifact ability that synergizes with mongoose bite. It made the rotation a lot more interesting as we had to time its use for optimal damage and it was an aoe ability.
General: Take away the damage component of hunter's mark. It is a mandatory ability that uses up a global CD to do...nothing. Even its visual effect is boring. If the damage component gets taken away its no longer a meaningless button push and can instead be used strategically to keep track of rogues in PVP or track an add that teleports around the room.
Also make a melee version of kill shot for SV. Even though it would no longer be ranged ability it makes no sense thematically for an SV hunter to go in for the kill with a crossbow when they have this massive 2-handed weapon.
Please comment if you agree or disagree with anything I said. I simply want hunters to be as fun as possible next expansion.

Playing MM mostly (I have to switch to BM in "competitive" content or just being denied in groups, because it's meta), I don't see much improvement right now.
Having Killshot and Tranqshot back is nice, but honestly, I would rather have the buttons I have already do something important or situational, rather than just have 3 dmg abilities that all do the same thing but are called differently.
Also, F*CK Hunter's Mark and Rapid Fire! Worst abilities in the game. First one lost its right to exist since raid symbols were introduced back in vanilla and the other one is just a glorified Steady Shot.
If you want to have an ability that's called "Hunter's Mark" so much in-game, make it a DMG burst cooldown, similar to Vendetta. It would make much more sense than Trueshot (Aura!) being a temporary DMG increase anyway.
Imho, WotLK and MoP MM was fun to play, even WoD had it's moments. But right now the spec just feels dull. Adding more buttons to press won't fix that problem. The developers don't really know what to do with it, I guess.

I hoped they would do something about revive pet, maybe give better pets, reducing the cooldown of pet heal and getting it off the gcd or other ideas, but nothing. They just gave us a bunch of useless abilities and crippled two specs in the name of unpruning. I don't need kill shot and arcane shot for mu sv and bm, but I absolutely need my pet. A 6 second interuptable cast in tje middle of fight in pvp and solo alond with faulty UI, low armor and paper pets is a death sentence.
If nothing is changed we hunters are going to play possum for most the next expansion.

Suggestions that I feel might improve Survival somewhat.
First talent row: You have two powerful, rotation-shaping abilities in Viper's Venom and Alpha Predator. And then you have whatever Terms of Engagement is meant to be. This is the kind of half-assed garbage talent that will never be good unless they suddenly buff its damage and focus generation by 1000%. And even if they did that and we were forced to take it, it would still feel garbage.
Possible replacement: A strike with a 1min cooldown that costs a small amount of focus, maybe 15/20, does damage similar to a 3-5 stack Mongoose Bite and refreshes the duration of the Mongoose Bite buff. It changes your rotation in a meaningful way, allowing you to use it strategically to create a large 5 stack window.
Second talent row: A lot of survival hunters are clamoring for Butchery to be baseline. While it doesn't seem necessary now with our 75% base haste, Guerilla Tactics/Wildfire Cluster aoe will be very slow without it in Shadowlands.
Possible replacement: Passive - Every time you use Butchery, your pet cleaves up to 5 nearby targets for X damage. This cleave should cost Focus for the pet so it's amplified by Mastery. If coupled with a legendary or a conduit this could create a viable pet-based aoe playstyle wherein Mastery isn't so bad. Some might say it's "too beast mastery", but let's not forget Survival is also meant to be attacking in tandem with their pet. We both have Kill Command, after all.
Fourth talent row: I honestly don't know what to say about this one, it's a terrible row across the board, but I suppose most specs have one of these. Maybe if Murder of Crows had a focus generation component, or if Steel Trap dealt more damage, then they'd be more attractive choices. Or maybe they shouldn't be attractive because I'd hate having to use either of them. Either way this is obviously the small dps increase row, so it doesn't matter too much.
Sixth talent row: Mongoose Bite has no business not being baseline. It's a spec-defining ability. If anything, Raptor Strike should be an optional talent for those 5 people who feel Mongoose Bite is somehow too compicated to deal with. Flanking Strike is also not ideal, but it's possible that it's just massively overshadowed because it's next to an obviously necessary ability.
Possible replacement: Bake Raptor Strike into Tip of the Spear for those who want to keep it for some reason. Replace Mongoose Bite with a passive effect that either reduces the focus cost of Mongoose Bite by 1 (or 2) per stack of Mongoose Bite, or grants 2% haste per stack. This would make pooling resources and staying at high Mongoose stacks more rewarding if you can pull it off.
Seventh talent row: Wildfire Infusion is a lot of fun and gives flavor to a spec that somewhat lacks it. However in most scenarios it's not worth taking over Birds of Prey. Its boost to aoe damage is minimal and the loss to single-target is massive. I won't even touch Chakram, it's terrible and no damage increase can save it, but I can't come up with a replacement.
Possible solution: Wildfire Infusion made baseline. Its talent replaced by a passive talent that increases the power of the Infusion effects and turns it from one ability that cycles randomly into 3 separate abilities that share a cooldown. This way the talent has greater value for an aoe build, allowing you to use either a Volatile/Hydra's Bite/Latent Poison combo or Shrapnel/Guerilla Tactics/Wildfire Cluster, and use Pheromone strategically for rapid Focus generation. Furthermore, Shrapnel and Pheromone give it value for single-target as well. It also makes the spec feel like it has a greater variety of grenades rather than one that is random and unreliable.
Additional suggestions:
- The Soulforge Embers legendary seems like something that should have been Survival-only, but I guess they went with Flare so it would be usable by everyone. However, it would be nice if it also was activated by Wildfire Bomb, so Survival has at least the advantage of not having to press a dead gcd to activate it.
- Kill Shot should cost some focus. It's strange that they'd pick abilities to be excluded from our Mastery when it was already the most undesirable stat.

In the Pre-Patch/Shadowlands Beta, all hunters get access to Tranq Shot (removes 1 magic and 1 enrage). This same ability was used by Rays and Spirit Beasts, both pet classes have had those abilities removed, and replaced with nothing. Spirit Beasts still have their heal, but Rays are complete ass now. If you want Primal Rage, bring a Devilsaur, with the Mortal Strike debuff, or a Core hound for PVE tank content.

OK I've seen the last build. there are very little improvement and a lot of punishments and nerfs and a whole lot of "meh".
- for example my main concern regarding my pets did get better but it still is very bad. a 4 second interruptible cast is still a lot without something to compensate.
- they've increased the focus cost for aimed shot and multi shot. because apparently they weren't expensive enough and limiting the Cleave was not bad enough.
- they reduced the window for careful aim by 10% because reasons. specially the part where it would match with kill shot. and when higher damage is more needed in raids during the last 20% health of bosses.
have the hunter community done something to devs? with each expansion it gets worst. I mean one of our specializations are useless now. nobody is playing suv. and they act like there is nothing wrong here but lets nerf you a bit more for fun. but instead have a bunch of useless abilities that you are not gonna use ever.
I want my BM to have more pets not shots. if you want to punish bad pet management that's fine but first give us better pests and a better UI so I can manage them.
and please give us the old SUV with dots and traps and all that goodness instead of this warrior with a spear thing we have.
and please don't try to sugarcoat these nerfs with kill shot or hunters mark. as BM I'm not gonna use kill shot' and hunters mark on gcd is just a pain to apply every time, and honestly a lot of people are gonna forget to recast it again in the middle of a fight.

It feels like Marksmen hunter just keeps getting worse. Legion we could spam Aimed shots all day(no charges) and arcane shot and multishot generated focus. Then BFA reduces Aimed shot to 2 charges, and arcane and multishot cost focus. Now focus costs go up, rapid fire focus generation goes down, and were forced to use steady shot more often which does not seem appealing at all. It feels like an auto attack that you channel while moving.It's as if they're focus starving MM to make steady shot more relevant... which is awful.

in ptr the talent steady focus, if you use any other ability after that the buff disappears which existed in old version but not mentioned here. which means its useless. 9 sec of haste buff is actually 0 sec.
also the talent lethal shot reduce the cooldown of rapid fire which has been nerfed severely and almost useless.
dead eye talent is ridicules. it reduce the cooldown of aimed shot by around 3 second after using kill shot. you have a execute that makes you use another ability. and the damage of kill shot is less than rapid fire let alone aimed shot and it cost focus. factoring the increased focus cost of aimed shot, it becomes very limiting. couldn't they make it so we could sometime use kill shot out of its window.
who is designing these abilities and talents. have they ever played hunter before?

I have played MM hunter for 13 years.
This is the weakest I have seen MM and its going to get worse in Shadowlands.
For the small chance a blizz dev reads any of these please for the love of god just buff us across the board for all our abilities by like 20-30%. Maybe we can be competitive at that point.

The way they design the hunter as a whole doesn't really make sense to me. BM is the easiest spec to play, with the most mobility, yet it also does the most damage. MM should do more damage than BM due to having less mobility and being more difficult to play. I feel as though this should be common sense, but I guess it isn't. I end up in a situation where I feel like I have to play BM, and that alone has bothered me enough to the point where I don't want to main it out of spite.

I think With the release of the latest build we can call it. hunter is @#$%. it's going to be the worst class in SL. I specially loved that awesome move in which they put a 20 sec CD on HM, something every hunter wanted gone, and not addressing the other huge problems with the class at all like the huge problem with MM and trueshot, BM and pet rez and SV as a whole . and everywhere everyone is praising their response to feed backs and listening to players excluding hunters.

just went to PTR to check the latest changes. they have fixed the bug in steady focus that's good. with that I tried to see how many aimed shot I could cast during True shot, answer 4 4.5 with streamline to decrease aimed shot cast time. without true shot 3, with kill shot and dead eye 4, without azerite power. with a good gear i"m sure I can do 4 shots in 15 sec. that focus increase is really annoying. true shot is meaningless even if it has a 20 sec cooldown. so calling the shot is useless.
master marksman is extremely underwhelming but I think it still is the best choice in that tier.
in in 35 tier IMO it's either chimera shot for two target situations or steady focus cause I just don't like RF and streamline and itsea ms better in synch with aimed shot.
and in 45 tier for me it's double tap .cause dead eye is a meh and lethal shot is for RF which as I said I don't like right now.
and at 50tier as I said calling the shot is garbage so it's lock and load for single target and voly for aoe.
in SV they should realty baseline bloodseeker. so We can take steel trap
BTW the name "calling the shot" should obviously be related to aimed shot. maybe a talent that increased the cast time of aimed shot but also increased its damage greatly. lost opportunity there for devs.

at this point I'm sure that the people responsible for hunter class are trolling us. for weeks all communities has been shouting about MM and it's lack of focus and the problems regarding that ( such as trueshot being a joke as a DPS CD, and spec being slow and cluncky) and what they do? they put a new nerf on an already useless ability(Hunters mark), they increase the cost of Arcane shot so much that I'm not it will be wise to use it ever and now the changed dead eye to decrease THE CD of our most expensive ability which means less time to generate focus during its cd. it's like showing a fast food menu to a starving person.
now imagine during the last 20% hp of a raid boss, when kill shot activates, when you need DPS the most because the worst mechanics are usually then, you need to use your CD, aka trueshot, it reduces the cast time of AS and kill shot the cd of AS, During the 15 second of true shot you can cast 4 AS tops ( maybe 5 with some borowed power and a lot of haste buffs)( I can cast 4 aimed shot without true shot), because you need to cast steady shot after your second AS and it is a relatively long cast.
so effectively MM hunter has no DPS cooldown.
MM has been my go to spec for single target fights and pvp for a long time and have seen its ups and downs. but never this down. and since i'm not a fan of survival, its back to just BM.

Who wanna bet Undead Hunters automatically learn to tame Undead hunter pets :D It would be a neat thing to give them like Gnomes/Goblins taming mecha pets and Trolls able to tame Dinos right away. I wonder why they didnt give blood beasts automatically to Blood Elves.

so they finally fixed HM. that's good. I just hope they didn't forget to fix the numbers.
On the other hand, instead of fixing trueshot, they changed a legendary, so there would be absolutely no choice in choosing legendaries for MM. even then the fix is a proc for multi target only. and in single target, trueshot remains to be useless.
I wonder when will they stop trolling the hunters.
first the whole deal with pets and revive pet, which still is too long. either shorten the cast time or make it uninterruptible. or maybe, just maybe give the instant rez back. you gave it to warlocks and the could summon a new pet while the other one is still active.
the increased cost of MM abilities and its problem during trueshot. either reduce the cost of them entirely or at least reduce their cost during true shot.
arcane shot and multi shot cost is to much for Precise Shots procs to be used, specially during trueshot. that's a useless passive there. at least instead of just increase of their damage, reduce their cost also. arcane shot is filler, they shouldn't be this costly.
for SV, jut give us the legion version back.

66% nerf to spirit mend? why? they have already nerfed the ^&*! out of pets already. I usually use my spirit beast for raids. "Survival of the Fittest" is a 3 min CD so it is a 1 time use during boss fights. my role during fights as a BM hunter is soaking mechanics because our great mobility. so I need some kind of personal heal to get back to an agreeable HP fast. I don't know the exact number but I think SM healed me for 20%~30% of my HP on a 30 sec CD.
this allowed me to soak mechanics better than other range players. but with this SM is almost useless. 10% HP is nothing in a boss fights when usually soaking mechanics put some kind of DOT on you.
what's the use of mobility when you cant use it? specially if I have to stand 4 sec to revive my pet if & when my pet dies during a fight.

just saw the popularity of specs in mythic+ , and the condition of SV brought me to tears. and I think that situation can be translated to raids too specially since most raids need more range players than melee.
At least in bfa SV was a contender in pvp but after watching a few steams and trying it for myself I see no hope there. I lost my pet very fast (every one were gunning for it) and at some point I just gave up on rezzing and went MM.
MM is in a better shape than SV but the spec feels clunky. and without legendaries it is in a bad shape compared to other ranged specs. in pvp if you can go unnoticed in groups and such you can do some major burst dmg but the focus increase is a pain there too
My favorite spec BM suffered a lot in BFA and it seems it is happening again an SL with the 4 sec pet rez and other nerfs to pets such as spirit beasts and their spirit mend or Clefthoofs and their Blood of the Rhino.
and since pre-patch event is les than 10 days away and xpack launch less than a month, I think we can call it. hunter is going to suck again in SL.
