I haven't seen this mob before.
During the combat, it might has an ability "Vanish" like a rogue.

He's using shadowstep once in every ~7-10 seconds. No bonus damage from backwards, just a random direction he's reappearing from.

Just killed him today and got off him. Took a screenshot for this page. He's a beautiful wolf, would have tamed him if it weren't for my greedy Bloodelf self that wanted to loot him instead! LOL

Snarler used to be one of the most popular Hunter pets as he retained the 100 pts resist after taming that he has before taming making him deadly to dress wearing classes.
He has since been "fixed" by blizzard, and no longer bothers the neighbours kids and just sleeps all day beside the fireplace. He is one of the few all black wolves, and quite a nice looking pet.

If you try to tame this dude, you'll fast notice that the Fade Out thing cancels your Tame Beast ability. To prevent this, Mark him with Hunter's Mark :-)
Hope it helps ^.^

Snarler is difficult to find, because he moves around in two different locations. One is near the Lariss Pavilion, and the other location is to the right of it (in between the Lariss Pavilion & The Lower Wilds). That is where I found my Snarler, while some people have found it near the Lariss Pavilion. Just remember not to give up, he is CLOAKED, so you will not be able to spot him unless you use flare, or happen to bump into him. Don't give up finding him, just grind around there if you're really bored.
Happy hunting =) took me 2 days to find him, but well worth it.

Relating to my above post i am now an owner of Snarler and as i promised, i took alittle pitcure of his stats. Sad to say his Res is all 0 but it doesn't matter to me. Cause i know he's rare and the work put into finding him is prize all itself. Ive decided to name him Fenris and im very happy with him. Now for location.
I spotted his walking away from the pavilion on the east side
Time=About 10:30pm Server time
Time Spent Camping: 3 hours about
Cloaked?: Nope! like i said above, he's black so he's just hard to find but he appears on the tracker
Other: Ill mention the fact that for some reason about after 10 of the 20 seconds Taming takes he decided to try and run away. Ran over to a bear i was worried was gonna attack me, turned around dead on the spot and charged right back at me! didn't break the taming channel took one try.

This morning I've tamed Snarler. When tamed, he had no res to anything. I'll have to check again when I log in again.
It was an easy tame. I was happy that I laid a trap. Just as I started to tame Snarler a mob tried to attack me, who luckily trapped itself in my icetrap. :D Then tames Snarler, so we could kill the mob.
Happy ever since.
Ps th tip of making a macro was very usefull.

Snarler, once known for its impressive resistance rates. Too bad that he now posses none of those extraordinary resistances. With these Nerfs hes nothing more than a mere wolf……the only thing good about is that he comes with a level 6 Bite and a level 3 Furious Howl which are quite impressive for his level. This wolf can be seen in 76,38 but spends most of his time strolling north of camp mojache near the ogre mounds. Like any other rare spawn he has a LONG spawn rate and added to the fact that he can cloak so when you do see him quickly mark him with a hunter’s mark or he will disappear in front of you -_-“( This area is very near the Horde camp so it is over farmed and filled with hordies so alliance beware).Like ay oter rarespawn dont waste your time on this guy, log on in intervals instead of going parnoid trying to find him O.O(Note: If you want to do something constructive level wise you can grind on the mobs that surround the area but be careful since those bears that are also there tend to magically call for friends for some reason, they also become adds when you do find Snarler while taming and if you don’t want to tame him like me… because he isn’t that strong anymore I recommend you kill him to get his item or post on general chat that you found him so other hunters that want to catch him can)

He is on an 8 hour spawn time , but he does a "shadow step" type thing often. He can be on track one sec then he is gone and if you move some 50 to 60 yards in the direction he was in u normally spot him on track again. Did this 3 times to me. Also when you tame him, I used the freezin trap. if the trap breaks before the tame is done he will "shadow step" and charge back at you and the tame to break. Best think i can think of is to get as close to him as possible drop trap back up some and hit him at max distance with tame that way he will be frozen longer. I got him the first time I went to look. He does have 100 to all resists and stats are better then King B's. He does not have the insane speed boost that king B has but Keep em both and ur set for PvP.

Hi all, thought I would post here and tell you about my "Snarler" hunt.
It took me 3 nights of grinding around the area discribed above:( but finally got him.
If you do want to put the time into finding him here are some helpful tips/ info.
1. He spawns to the west of the Lariss Pavillion, six hours from when he was killed/trained last.
2. Make sure you clear the area of the inhabiting bears and wolves (trust me on this one).
3. When you see him throw up your "hunters mark" on him cause he will phaze in and out on ya makeing it difficult to tame him.
4. True, Blizzard has nerfed him to 0 in all resists.
5. He is pretty cool looking, but other then that unless you enjoy the hunt he might not be worth your time anymore.
Well hope this helps ya all.

This guy was a lot of work for me. I stayed up until 5am that morning, leveling to 42. Once I did, I decided I'd go to bed. But I guess I was too excited, because I only got about 4-6 hours of sleep lol.
Anyways, that /target snarler trick worked really well. Without it, I never would have got him. The first time I found him, I asked for help because I was afraid another beast was going to kill me. The guy thought I wanted to kill Snarler, and so he kills Snarler. Made me angry... lol.
Later though, I went back, and camped. But wow. I picked a bad time to take a shower lol. While I was in the shower, my dad got on my charry to check for me. What do you know, there he was. But my dad isn't good with hunters, so he didn't really know how to tame him. So I told him to get my brother, and well. I got him. Made me the happiest person lol.
However, he didn't keep his 100 resist. Sorta disapointing, but not really. He's still a cool pet. Because not many other people have him. I named him Copper though. Just seemed like a nice name... lol.
So for people trying to tame him, he spawned around 3:20 for me, and then around 8:00 or something like that. So he has a spawn time of around 5-8 hours Im guessing. Also, make a macro /target snarler. Really works nicely. =)

The maps above are pretty accurate. I have seen Snarler multiple times to the east of Camp Mojache. Occasionally he's relatively close to the road but he'll also spawn in the general region of the Lariss Pavillion which is just south of the Gordunni Outpost. He flickers in and out of stealth mode but he isn't hard to spot when he shows as he's the only wolf in the area thats black. Make sure to mark him before you start the taming process as he will try and stealth out.

I started camping at lvl 41 actually, killing stuff around where he spawns to level, make money and actually see the wolf in question and make note of his patrol path. So today I hit lvl 42 and got to tame his furry butt! He really is a beautiful animal and my god is he huge! lol, I had a longtooth runner as a temp pet and at the same level Snarler is bigger... he's monstrous when I use Bestial Wrath lol.
He seems to spawn right beside the pavillion, the east side is where I first saw him both times, then he travels to the west side of the pavillion via the path behind it... then he turns around and walks back to the east... waaaay to the east before reseting and starting all over again. :)
And I do believe he is on a 6 hour respawn time as around 11am (AST) he spawned, was killed by the horde roaming the area and then I caught him just before 5pm (AST)
Good luck to all those who make the effort to camp/hunt this beautiful wolf!

Decided I wanted a wolf instead of Humar for a bunch of reasons, one being wolves are more Orc imho. ;)
So I checked his location, flared etc, no Snarler... went away, tamed another kind of wolf but I don't care for the dire skin so I went back to Feralas to get me a Longtooth Runner thinking it's second best. Don't want to spend the time leveling up something that's a bunch of levels lower than me.
When I came back to the pavillion, there he was on the tracking. =)
After one death due to add and various mishaps in the taming I got him. If you're gonna tame him, hunters mark is the key as said before here I think. Then he can't cloak which he'll try to do during the process.
But since he's lost his resistances and all, if all you want is a black wolf there's always the Vilebranch Cubs in the Hinterlands or something, but those are level 46-47.

Snarler was the hardest pet I've tamed, only because the first few times I didn't put hunter's mark on him. I don't know if it works, though, i would assume it did... after he came out of the freezing trap, he fell asleep from my Green Whelp Armor. XD
he's got normal stats like a regular wolf, but he comes with bite 6 and howl 3. odd that he doesn't have 100 on all resists... he has 90 on two of them, but 30 and 45 on another. i must have taught him some resists, which cancelled out the ones he came with. :(

Level 42 Blood Elf Hunter on Icecrown server.
Got him last night at 11:30PM Central time. Took me 7 times to tame him. He kept phasing out, even with dropping a freeze trap. He seemed to phase just as I was about to tame him...weird skill I wish he would have kept. Regardless...I tried 5 more times to tame him, and finally...I decided to try a frost trap. That worked. It slowed his walk, and...I got him.
I now have Humar and Snarler...re-named, ScytheClaw and DeathFang. Both rare, black pets.

Went hunting for him yesterday; like someone suggested the /Target Snarler macro really works like a charm. Just ride/run around while keep hitting that macro. When u finally got him targetted, stop right there and start looking around u immedietly cuz he can dissapear in a flash ! When u see him u should also put your Hunters Mark on him right away ! Clearing the area around the Pavillion (especially to the right of it) is a HIGHLY recommended idea. Cuz I got killed by wolfs/bears the first 2 attempts I made to tame him. Bringing a (high lvled)friend is also a good idea to insure keeping the area cleared of beasts. I finally got to tame him on my third attempt :D Onfortunately he had no resistances at all :( He comes with Furious Howl (Rank 3) + Bite (Rank 6).
Hope this helps any1 who wants to tame him like I did 8)

Alright, go to Camp Mojache if you are Horde of ir you are Alliance get to the point that you are looking at the two tauren guards at the side of the road. You will be looking west. Immedately to your right, and thus 'North' is a large hill type area. Go north here, you will come to the Lariss pavillion. Scope out this area. If you go all the way to the north, you'll run into the ogres. If you go to far to the west, you'll run into the river. He isn't in the ogre land and he doesn't spawn across the river. Follow the hillside near the pavillion and it will eventually hit the road. He doesn't spawn in the gully that heads down to the east and he doesn't spawn south of the road. I'm not sure it can get more localized than that. He likes to roam in that region. If you are meandering through and you don't see him, he's either somewhere near by or someone has killed him and he's waiting to respawn.

I would like to add some additional advice for hunting Snarler as a pet. First of all, I found the information here very helpful. The first day I hunted for him I never found him. But I got up very early the next morning and found him wondering on the east side of the pavilion. I killed off some of the surrounding beasts with my temp pet and then went to tame him.
The problem I had was that he kept resisting. I’d never had a beast resist taming before. I finally figured out what the problem was. While I saw him standing next to the pavilion he was actually walking THROUGH the building. The same thing happened on the other side. So I would suggest waiting until he is walking a fair distance away from the pavilion before trying to tame him. Once I did so he didn’t resist the taming.
I’m very pleased with Snarler as a pet. In my opinion he is much more wolf like than the dire wolf model. And I feel Snarler has the most attractive fur color of as well. Now I just need to come up with a good name for him.

Making a long story short...
I went to the place where it says here, and ran around with the target snarler marco constantly clicked. i couldnt find him. Went back to the building thing and logged out. Logged in 1 hour later, i find him, hunters mark him, tame him.
Easy process. Start with hunters mark, and put down a freezing trap. Start taming. If ur at the right distance, u should be about 1/5th or 1/4 of the taming done. All u do now is wait till he freezing and go right on taming. By the time he unfroze, i had a second left before taming ended. got him at lvl 42, used him to 50 while switching between King B.

This is LONG, but I have a long story about taming this wolf....
I've had two hunters to tame Snarler, but this particular taming was the most difficult I have ever encountered. I was leveling like crazy to get 42 so I could get this beautiful wolf. After hours of questing I was about a bar away from 42, so I decide to grind the last little bit near Snarler's spawn area. Halfway through my last bar, I see Snarler and he aggros me while I on another wolf! I finish the wolf, and run away to get him off me. I start another wolf and I get jumped from behind by a rogue about 5 levels above me. Die and rush back to body. I panic because I don't see Snarler now, but I continue grinding the wolves and finally ding 42. I run all around his spawn point and the wolf is gone. Disapointed, I see a 43 paladin killing wolves and another 41 hunter, both horde(like me).
Log out in the town and check in every few hours just in case, though I know his respawn is about 6 hours. Somewhere during that time, I move and log out in the pavilion. 30 minutes before he's due to spawn, I log in and he's right directly in front of me. I mark him, ditch pet, then I see him run off towards the same paladin who was there before because he attacked him. I say "/s I was going to tame him. XD" and the pally stops attacking and sends me a tell "go for it", but Snarler is focused on the pally so I can't tame it. I shoot a few arrows at him to get him to turn to me, he does, but I'M OUT OF MAGIC. So I use a potion and start taming, then the pally heals me and I lose Snarler to him again. I'm out of magic AGAIN!. I feign death and drink up. I shoot another arrow into Snarler, he runs at me I start taming. This time another wolf aggros me and the pally attacks it and heals himself, which causes Snarler to attack HIM again and I lose my tame... OUT OF MAGIC AGAIN. Feign Death, drink up. By now, the wolf is at about 200 health and I can't afford to shoot him any more and the pally doesn't seem to get the point that he needs to leave to lose hate. I shoot one arrow, Snarler is down to 79 health and runs my way. I start taming, he's tearing into my health, tame finishes and he's MINE. I'm about 200 health, wolf at 79 health and very unhappy... wolf dies by a bear and I run into the camp to revive him and feed him. FINALLY GOT HIM! XD I thank the pally profusely for letting me take him and for putting up with all that, even offer him money, but he declines it. Then mention that I've been waiting for 6 hours for the wolf and he says "sory I killed him before last time he was here".
THE END
