in the orange section of maraudon. He is a basic fight, until he dissapears and a bunch of little spawns show up (noxxion's spawn). Just kill them without wasting to much mana and get back to fighting him. Also, he's immune to frost spells (sorry mages). He is great to farm for nature resist gear for aq, so don't toss out the gear you get from him once you get something a couple levels higher, hold onto it and you'll have a few less hours of farming when your lvl 60 and it's tedious instead of fun :D.
i'm were farmed him for 2x
for NR gear.
This can be duo'd easily. soloed if your a healer (if your 60 of course) just need to keep sustained damage to make sure he doesn't get too much adds on you.
because of the spawns at Noxxion the best way to get him down is with burst damage. Get him down really quick as there keep spawning non-elites.
44-45 grp with warrior/mage/warlock/priest/pally
worked well on him
pally just keep distance with boss and focus on Debuff, mage and warlock use AOE asap once u see the boss dissapear, priest add shield for mage asap too
everything goes smooth in this way, no potion needed
Ridiculously hard for his level. The motto here is
. Just any old group will not do. Warriors will not be able to maintain aggro and AOE is nearly essential on this guy due to his splits at half life. The problem is he will usually respawn before all his splits are killed unlike what the write ups say. My humble opinion, he is way under conned and should be "adjusted" or his big ass room should have a sign that says "AOE required beyond this point." But I'm not bitter ...
Killed him yesterday, very close fight tho. We had 2 lvl 47 warriors, 46 Rogue, 47 Shaman(Me), and 50 Priest. As you can see we had no mage, so it was a lil difficult keeping the lil non elites under control. We ended the fight with just the rogue and I left, both of us under 20% health and myself out of mana. Dropped the wand, which the priest didnt want, so we rolled for greed and I won it. Nox split about 2 or 3 times in the fight, earlier than I expected, his first split was around 75% health and the warriors had trouble keeping the agro of all 5 of the lil ones. Very hard.
Two Level 60s... one wanting the trinket and the other wanting a challenge. We got him on our third attempt :-)
Killed him solo. Lvl60 combat spec rogue with 100 NatureRes (before I got his lovely trinket). Ended the battles with about 80% health, I'm pretty heavily geared with epics though so it might not be possible without good natureres/epic gear.
As a 60 combat rogue i was able to solo him quite easily. The trick that worked for me was to drink a nature protection pot prior to fight and let the cooldown clear before engaging (in case u need to drink another) save your evasion and blade flurry for when he despawns and the adds come, when they do, fire off Blade Flurry, Evasion, and Adrenaline rush. He will respawn and you continue to wtfpwn him. I didnt need a second nature pot or any other healing and finished him with about 35% health remaining.
--Dragov Troll Rogue, FSBO, Skywall
He has close to 15k health.
He will randomly 'despawn' and summon adds, which will need to be aoed. He does this at least one a fight.
He hits for 200-350 Nature damage.
Very difficult to solo.
Killed him with priest/warlock lvl 60s. Hellfire dominates the spawns, but he hits the voidwalker pretty hard so it was still a challenging fight.
I'm an all blue troll combat rogue. I soloed this trinket with a couple of buffs and a trinket.
You want to have a minimum buff of Prayer of Fortidude and a Nature Protection Potion. You can get a MoTW if you want as well. Greater Nature Pots will absorb more, but the Greater Pots are much more expensive. Make sure you bring along your Barov Peasant Caller trinket too. Drink the Nature Pot as soon as you zone to eat up the 2 minute cooldown.
This fight has a few stages. Initially, all you want to do is dps Noxxion down so he splits up into 5-6 non-elites. You should to take minimal damage here because all of Noxxion's attacks are nature based and the potion should absorb them. You shouldn't use any cooldowns here. (Exception being a troll rogue could use berserking.)
When he initially splits use the Barov Peasant Caller immediately. They should draw a few of the non-elites off of you and allow you to kill the spawns while taking little damage.
After Noxxion reforms pop evasion and adrenaline rush. Do as much damage as you can while these effects are up. If you are lucky you will kill him in this stage.
If you don't finish him in time a second round of spawns appears. Use your blade flurry at this point and kill the spawns quickly. Noxxion should be down to his last sliver of life when he reappears. Hurry up and kill him already, loot your shackles/wand DE them and reset the instance.
If you think at any point you are going to die vanish and sprint away, because its a long corpse run and Orgrimmar is 2 flight paths away for rebuffs. You will probably be DOTed but the sprint should give you enough time to get out of aggro range before it procs you out of stealth.
Something to remember is that any effects you place on Noxxion are dispelled when he splits into the spawns. USE DIRECT DAMAGE ONLY. The only exception to this would be to garrote him at the beginning fo the fight if you don't like ambushing and switching to swords/maces.
Two combat rogues should be able to burn him down quickly without any pots, nature or healing.
Im a 60 warrior and i solo'd him fairly easy given the fact he killed me once when he had 2% left, then destroyed me second time, then third i popped recklessness, whirlwind when adds came killed em all off in under 5 seconds, then he came back up and i killed him, ended fight with about 25% health left, no pots at all were used.
Just finished farming him as 60 rogue with 60 priest. Easy to get to him and further on to Razorlash without aggroing anyone, and even easier to kill them both :)
Finally managed to solo this guy; lv60 combat rogue with ~130 NR gear and it still took me 2 Greater Nature Protection pots. I must suck or something, but this guy hits hard, the adds are weak but a total pain in the behind (thank you blade flurry).
And all I got was the lousy plate bracers, gotta do it again =D
as warlock with sm/ruin spec this boss should be doable without having nature resist gear or such, it requires a healthstone a voidwalker for sacrifice later on and a soulstone which u use directly when u die if needed.. depends on ur gear.
As a 60 resto druid with tier 2 gear, I couldn't even come close to soloing him. You either need hella-DPS or the ability to kite him. Rogues, hunters and mages in my guild are the only ones who can manage to solo him to farm the +nr trinkets.
Your guide to an easy way to get some NR for AQ40
Alright my spec is 7/33/11
An NR pot makes this fight very easy, ok lets me word it another way. An NR pot makes this fight possible.
What i did:
-send your void walker in (I have imp void walker) dot him up with corruption, immolate and agony then just use your wand.
-when he splits don't panic, gather up the adds then use your void walkers suffering ability and rain of fire the adds. Don't hell fire cuz it does dmg to you and you will pull the adds off your void walker and die.
-When he comes back up send your void walker back on him, dot him up again and keep wanding. If he summons adds again use sacrifice and rain of fire them all down.
-When he is at about 40% just spam shadow bolts/burn and you will kill him. At this point it does not matter if you pull agro or not.
-if you get in trouble use Fel domination to summon up another void walker and shield yourself.
-Make sure you have a healthstone with you (i have the 1440 stones)
After each kill i went on to kill Razorlash and the Keeper of the grove guy. After a few runs i had a nice NR set from Mara.
2 trinkets of Noxxion
the wand of Noxxion
belt and boots of Razorlash
and the cloak from the keeper of the grove
total NR from Mara
Fun and pretty easy if you know what you are doing. Good hunting!
If you combo the
from the Mara item and get yourself the Sylvan Shoulders (
NR) and the Sylvan Crown (
NR) you will have a nice
NR without putting much effort into it. (no need for bloodvine). Along with the ring from cenarion hold (Band of Cenarius
NR, if you do not have the rep for that or think its too much effort to kill the bosses then just buy a
NR ring off the AH it would be cheaper then buying a scepter.) is pretty much all the NR you will need as a caster in AQ40
A total of
NR, and trust me as a base for a caster that is enough, add in Mark of the Wild, Aspect of the Wild/Shaman NR totem and you are all set.
he hits hard... Take a priest, oh and a mage for AOEing his ads, oh and I spose a tank would be handy, stuffit, just take a flipping army and kick him from one end of the cave to the other...
well i'll admit it wasn't easy even though i'm pretty decently geared out (5 piece nemesis and other assorted epics)
the hard part was the split.. had to use Voidwalker to tank him first off.. when he split voidwalker AOE taunt while i rain of fired them ( just 1 rain of fire kills them)
when he came back re applied dots/ shadowbolting, at this point i'm below half health so i healthstone/ sacc voidwalker for next split.. rain of fire again while shielded.. boss comes back fel domination another voidwalker and sacc if needed while killing him
EDIT: i wish i was as smart as the guy above and just wanded instead of shadowbolted >.< would have saved me alot of trouble lol
EDIT x2: well i tried the strat above and made the mistake of popping ZHC to DoT noxx before i started wanding.. i didn't pull aggro on noxx but i DID pull aggro on his spawns by ZHC rain of firing after hitting torment.. Doh!
the fel domination is probably unneccesary for this but i don't carry AB trinket around with me otherwise i wouldn't have to sacc vw for the second split
i justt soloed him no NR trinkets rings, full T2 and UTB just whirlwind his adds and blow retailation and its all good home slice ;)
We did Noxxion with hunter (lvl 55), rogue (lvl 54), paladin (me lvl 53).
Because Noxxion hits only nature damage there was no point tankking the Noxxion with plate armour. We had rogue and hunters bear pet tankking and hitting the Noxxion. The hunters aspect of wild is essential and nature protection bottle helps (didn't have those on the final try (wiped twice before success)). I, as pally, was healing and keeping the two alive until the Noxxion disappeared and spawned the adds. When the adds came I runned and landed the consentration. With the consentration i got aggro from all the adds. We had Ez-throw grenades and i as engineer have some other bombs too. We throwed those in. The adds are lvl 44? non'elites and have something about 700 hitpoints. They hit about 100 points of nature damage. While the adds were on pally Rogue bandaged him self (if needed) and bear just waited. The hunter helped with multi-shots and on the seccond addon swarm with the volley area effect.
the Noxxion disappeared on 20 sec timer and was out about same time (maybe less). We didn't have problems to clear the adds before the Noxxion re-appeared.
Noxxion managed to spawn the adds three times before we got him down. after killing the last adds we lost rogue (because i was too slow at healing), but Noxxion was in about 10% so we had no problem to drop him with hunter and pally.
The idea was to just spam a lot of damage to Noxxion when he's around and when adds come pally takes the aggro and handles the adds.
If you have bladeflurry, this guy aint to hard. No pots or resistance-gear needed. Just nuke him, Evasion, AR and Bladeflurry
seems that this guy drops the digested hand of power and item that drops in nax. don't be fooled by it. it's just the stupid people at thottbot making this mistake
Killed him today solo, 60 mage, GM PVP set. Not an easy fight. 40/11/0 Arcane/pyro spec.
- Greater Nature Prot pot
- Greater mana pot
- Mana ruby
- Scroll of spirit
- Scroll of stamina
- Well fed buff
Pulled with pyro, then pom/ap/pyro, burn him until the adds come. Frost nova the adds, and if you're lucky you won't get any resists. While they're in place, bandage up and evocate. I got two sets of adds from him - not sure if this is common because this is the first time I've fought him (never came here when leveling).
Didn't get any during the fight, heh, was too busy trying not to die.
Bastard dropped the goddamn shackles. :(
- Sleeper, 60 Mage, Khaz Modan
Mage 60 can't kill him, at least before patch that will change mage talents will go on. Mage 60 and warlock 60 done him pretty easy. More fun thing u can avoid find with most every mob so u kill only bosses that takes very little time with fantastic reward
As a mage fully decked in epics, with 31Arc/21Fire spec, I can solo him quite easily.
Just pop up ZHC+AP combo, launch 3 fireballs on him, and then fireblast + POM pyro + spam a few scorch + fireblast. If you've got a few lucky crits with your fireballs or pyro, you may already have killed him even before the add spawning. If not, then he should have around 3-4k HP left, and spawn the little adds. Just AOE them, they have very little HP. Then just spam scorch or IAE till the main body is dead. During the whole course you may need to drink a major healing pot. Oh, don't forget to turn on your mana shield as well, because it can absorb the damage of his uppercut.
Of course, the fight will become much easier if you use some more buffs before the fight. One of the best is nature protection pots. Just drink one before the fight and you'll kill him very easily as long as your equiments don't suck TOO much.

i'm trying to solo this mob, how do i get to him? (never did maura, just quest/grinded to 60 and hit up the raids.)(i need the NR badly for AQ40)
a warlord mage in my guild couldn't solo him.
me (warlock) and a priest - easy
problem is AoE AND a knockback that prevents long spell casting. very dificult to finish casting a 2.5 sec shadowbolt when i;m tanking :)
Solod as 60 mage, 21/30 scorch spec with 540ish +dmg and zhc.
Couldnt kill with my 60 MM hunter, in zg and DM blues.
Edited, Sat May 27 05:22:35 2006
Yes, without AoE, he can be nasty.
Yeah this guy is nasty, took three tries to take him down. Our party consisted of 46 Hunter, 46 Priest, 48 Warlock, 48 Rogue, 50 Mage.
First what he does. While your fighting him once or twice a fight he will disappear and summon 3 regular(not elite) elementals. Shortly after he summons them he will reappear, even if his spawns arn't dead. He does this 2 or 3 times a fight, I lost count. Anyway we died the first two times cause the elements aggroed the priest and she was running around, then everyone picked a different spawn of his to try to get aggro off the priest and eventually we just died cause of the mass confussion.
To kill him here is what we did, and it was easy. He is standing in a pool, the rogue sneaks up and starts the attack and evades. Warlock and Hunter sent in the pets and everyone ran up into the pool fairly close together. Mage saves his mana till the first round of spawns and then he AoEs like crazy. IMPORTANT thing now is NO ONE run around, this just spreads out the mobs. Stay in that one spot and let the AoE guys do their thing. Rogue, pets, hunter still tagging away at Noxxion. Do this till he dies.
Prior to fighting get everyone a Healthstone if you have a warlock, make sure everyone has a healing pot or mana pot if your a caster.
And thats how we did it. Was a fun fight just remember to control spawns, if everyone starts running around its a lost cause.
is he soloable for a 60 mage? need sum NR for AQ
Soloed with 60warrior. few blues and epics. 19/32/0 DW. used normal buffs mongoose food, sometimes took a major healing pot.Can fear him and his adds :)

* Noxxion in Maraudon now has the correct immunities.
* Noxxion is now social and will bring friends if pulled past other creatures.
it seems that his adds spawn at timed intervals that are not related to his health.
first time we attempted him we were mid to high 40's and had 1 AoE person and had 3 or 4 waves of adds before we killed him and the fight lasted a while.
we went back in recently low 50's with 3 AoE toons and only had 1 wave spawn and he was dead alot faster.
the faster you take him out the less adds youll have to deal with
The only boss in Mara I am unable to solo without the use of external buffs (which is everything your class cannot buff by yourself). The lack of a powerful AoE and Nature Resistance kills. He does 320-350 nature damage every hit and each add does around 80 x 4 = 320. Greater Nature Resi Potion helps a ton but I consider that cheating.
Soloable for a hunter...juste put max NR on your pet.
I did him solo with my lvl 60 NE Shadow Priest on Shattered Hands without "external buffs". You'll need a high amount of +spell damage and a nice mana pool with it.
The idea is to mana conserve and fear the small replica of him quickly. Start the battle with Mind Blast, after that you've used Inner Focus to Shield yourself. Quickly put Rank 8 SW:Pain and VE on target, try get 2 Mind Flays and another Mind Blast before he splits. Now as fast as you can do your biggest fear, throwing Rank 4 SW:Pain on them as they run of in different directions. At the same time, run to the other side of the room, getting as much space betwen you and the full boss as possible. He'll probably reappear before his little friends had enough time to die off, this is another reason to get space betwen you and him. Throw a lesser rank shield on yourself and start over from the top. Rank 8 SW:Pain as soon as you see him. A couple of Mind Flays and Mind Blast...
Improved Mind Blast helps alot. These are the ranks I used but depending on your lvl of damage equipment you'll have to use higher.
Btw, a Priest can solo all bosses in Maraudon ^^.
If you don't have an AEr, this guy is probably more difficult than the princess. He spawns 4-5 level 45ish elementals probably every 20 seconds while you're fighting him. He's kind of a pansy himself, but all of the elementals add up and do very nasty things to you if they're not taken care of.
Just took him out easily.
53 mage (me)
60 priest-47Rogue- and 2 60 warriors
Got heart of noxxion
I couldent solo him a combat rogue wearing 4 t1 and 1t 2 armor piece . First 30% are easy if you got evasion on , the adds are anoying as hell and by the time you get him to 50% your already at 30% health and he spawns more adds .
If you cant heal/aoe i doubt you can solo him with casual gear
i can solo this guy reliably w/o pots or buffs on my 60 rogue.
Twice in a row my group killed Noxxion and our WoW clients all crashed. Corpse rotted each time before we could return. Don't say I didn't warn you.
Do you guys think that its soloable with a lv60 hunter?
An important tidbit for mages trying to get some nature res gear solo, While not immune to frost he is highly resistant so you'll probably want to use fire regardless. He has an add phase where you can buy some time using frost nova and bandaging instead of killing them outright, it'll also let you shed the dot that the boss applies. I'd suggest getting a nature protection potion because his melee attacks count as nature damage. You can even pre-pot and use one during the fight if your gear isn't quite up to par.
Easy to solo as a prot warrior when you have around 120 NR. easier with a +1 dps though, you can wear two of the trinkets as they're not Unique, bracers still seem to be the best for now as well.
For warlocks playing classic, this is an easy solo.
Put on your T2 gear, and you should have close to 5K health.
1. Make a macro to get both bonuses from your voidwalker:
#showtooltip demonic sacrifice
/cast demonic sacrifice
2. Enter the orange side of Mara and walk to Noxxion.
3. Stand up on the ledge above him (this requires you to clear 1 pack of the maggots)
4. Pop the macro above.
5. Pop your ZHC or TOEP (if you have one).
6. Cast shadowbolt at Noxxion. You should be able to get 3-4 bolts off before he has finished walking to you.
7. Cast corruption and curse of agony as you jump down.
8. Cast more shadowbolts as he walks back down to you.
You should kill him before he gets to you. If he gets to you, just keep casting as your VW shield should hold up long enough to kill him.
If he splits into the little elementals before you kill him, just corrupt and CoA them and ignore them or jump down to make them take the long path down, then target Noxxion to finish him when he reappears.
If you struggle with this, pop a greater nature protection potion before step 6, and you will easily do it as all his damage is nature.
ALL damage on this fight, including melee attacks from the boss and his adds, is nature damage and can be absorbed with a nature protection potion.
