I’m actually really familiar with the map editing tech WoW uses.Zones like Bastion are conceptually really complex, and take a lot of lessons from Mac’aree (which is a lot more complicated than it looks). Revendreth is somewhat basic, though it clearly had a lot of work put into it, and I imagine connecting all those towers smoothly was hard. Ardenweald and Maldraxxus are also conceptually simple in terms of layout (mostly), but both are so prop heavy that they must have taken forever to get just right, especially Ardenweald. There was definitely a lot of care put into each of these zones. I can’t understate the level of details each has put into them. The Maw is neat, though I did notice some parts where they left ground textures awkwardly stretched by inclining an angle too quickly without changing the textures. I would chalk that up to SL being rushed though, maybe. That said, Oribos might just be the lowest effort main city they ever made. It’s pretty much just a model and props, and a fairly simple, if large, model and not that many props.I wouldn’t really mind a low effort city though, if it weren’t so confusing to navigate. My awareness of how the map editor works irks me more, because I know they could have made something better for navigation.
De Other Side is definitely the dungeon that I would love to spend more time in to look around. The backgrounds are super impressive, IMO.
Ardenweald is an absolutely beautiful zone, as is De Other Side, though whilst also thematically stunning, the depiction of Zul'gurub doesn't seem to make a great deal of sense and seems to cause confusion as the lore points to the implication that that each wing is warping us elsewhere, with the Mechagon and Zul'gurub wings taking us out of the Shadowlands. Being on Azeroth, the wing shouldn't have that bizarre thematic to it. Despite that, it's still one of my favorite places in the expansion.
