Corrupted Weapon Effects Have Multiple Tiers and Can Roll From Mythic+ Cache
PTR

With more testing done with the Mythic+ cache, it seems that the Ny'alotha Corrupted Weapon effects have multiple tiers, with difficult values of Corruption, and can roll on more than just Weapons. We've seen these "weapon" effects on Trinkets, Belts and Rings from the Weekly Mythic+ cache. Thanks to
Jeathebelle
for helping test this.
This seems independent from the normal Corrupted Weapons that drop in the raid.
3 Tiers - Infinite Stars
Thanks to
Jeathebelle
for helping test this! The two screenshots are from
his stream
.
Using the PTR, you're able to open as many weekly boxes as you want. He's opened the following items:
Lord Waycrest's Signet
+20 Corruption
- Equip: Your spells and abilities have a chance to strike a nearby enemy with an Infinite Star, dealing
7,303
Arcane damage and increasing their damage taken from your Infinite Stars by
25
%, stacking up to 10 times.
Balefire Branch
+75 Corruption
- Equip: Your spells and abilities have a chance to strike a nearby enemy with an Infinite Star, dealing
12,172
Arcane damage and increasing their damage taken from your Infinite Stars by
60
%, stacking up to 10 times.
Then he checked the Corrupted Weapon which is
Shgla'yos, Astral Malignity
from Ny'alotha.
+50 Corruption
- Equip: Your spells and abilities have a chance to strike a nearby enemy with an Infinite Star, dealing
9,737
Arcane damage and increasing their damage taken from your Infinite Stars by
60
%, stacking up to 10 times.
Rolls on Any Item
From this, we can see that there are three tiers of the effect, with 3 levels of Corruption as well. You can also see that they can roll on Trinkets and other items obtained from the Mythic+ cache, with our screenshot of the "weapon" effect proccing on gloves.
Double Equip Corrupted Items Are Possible
Thanks to Feenux on Discord for sending us this image of a double Equip Corruption item,
Geti'ikku, Cut of Death
. This probably applies to the
Bile-Stained Crawg Tusks
and other similar items as well.
This is also a new affix and we've found the spell data!

New Corrupted Effect Spell Data
Based on the spell data in today's PTR build, we can guess what new affixes have been added to the pool. These procs may only be possible from the Mythic+ cache as they seem more powerful than the previous Corruption effects, but we haven't tested end-of-dungeon rewards yet.
We're not sure exactly how much Corruption each of these give.

The system is convoluted for no reason, giving literally no benefit over the old Titanforging system, and in fact is worse because there is now more RNG than ever before.
You can cleanse them.
I hate this system more than I have hated any system they have implemented in WoW, and I've played since LK. 11 years now. THIS is the dumbest gearing system they've ever implemented.
You can cleanse them.
Like seriously. HAVING TO DEAL WITH A DETRIMENTAL EFFECT JUST TO GAIN A 1 OR 2% DAMAGE INCREASE IS NOT FUN, BLIZZARD. PAY ATTENTION. People tend to stay away from talents that have similar effects for the same reason. There'a already so much bull#$%^ you have to deal with in raids now that voluntarily adding even more on top of it just to do to 1,000 more dps is NOT FUN.
You.Can.Cleanse.Them.
And before you come for me with "BuT jUsT gEt CoRrUpTiOn ReSiStAnCe!" just stop.
By the time we will be able to wear any sizable amount of corruption resist, the patch will have been out for like 6 months and the content will be largely irrelevant as most players will be done with the content. The only people this MIGHT benefit are the Mythic raiders, who have time and time again told Blizzard they want RNG taken OUT of the loot system. So the one subset of people who seemingly would benefit from this system DON'T EVEN WANT IT in the first place.
YOU CAN CLEANSE THEM.
Stop trying to polish a turd, Blizzard. Scrap it. Start from scratch for next expansion if you need to, but seriously...Corruption sucks. Fundamentally and from a "fun" aspect.
Just in case you didn't know: You can cleanse them.

Really dislike the idea of corruption. Honestly I don't find mechanics like this fun at all. I'm probably just going to cleanse everything, it's just not worth the effort to min max anymore. At least there's no ilvl titanforging
I agree. People who still are giving this a chance like it's magically going to be tuned to be amazing in the next 3 weeks are in denial. The system is convoluted for no reason, giving literally no benefit over the old Titanforging system, and in fact is worse because there is now more RNG than ever before.
I have given BFA a chance patch after patch, defending it from naysayers who wanted to &*!@ on every little aspect of it, but honestly, this corruption system is a big @#$% you from Blizzard, and it puts the nail in the coffin for me. I hate this system more than I have hated any system they have implemented in WoW, and I've played since LK. 11 years now. THIS is the dumbest gearing system they've ever implemented.
WHO THE #$%^ was telling Blizzard they liked the Crucible of Storms kiss/curse items? Like seriously. There'a already so much bull#$%^ you have to deal with in raids now that voluntarily adding even more on top of it just to do to 1,000 more dps is NOT FUN. Can it be dealt with? Sure. Does that make it okay? Hell no.

I wish they would just take their effing heads out of their asses and wake the hell up already. This expansion has been bleeding subs probably worse than even WoD or Cata, and all they keep doing is ignoring the playerbase like refusing to make essences account wide or scrapping the corruption system altogether.
What ever happened to a time when game companies looked at their product and went, "Okay this is not really working well so let's scrap it even though we've invested a ton of resources and time into it." Nintendo did it for Breath of the Wild. The game came out almost 2 years later than it originally was supposed to, and it's incredible because of it.
Stop trying to polish a turd, Blizzard. Scrap it. Start from scratch for next expansion if you need to, but seriously...Corruption sucks. Fundamentally and from a "fun" aspect.

He doesn't understand that, my dude. Multiple people have tried to explain that and he keeps saying how he "was doing heroic 10 man before it was a thing". There's really no helping some kid who is just clearly mad and wants to throw his toys out the cot without actually understanding the system in place.
