didnt know vanilla was almost also lfg tool that explain why there is meeting stones too what does nothing. those has summon function in tbc
There's a bunch of things from Vanilla that I miss a lot, and tons that I absolutely do not miss. Like with hunters for example, one thing I miss a lot is pet loyalty levels and happyness and having to feed them. It made the pet feel more like a living companion, not just a passive ability in your skillbook. I also miss having melee weapons in addition to my ranged weapon. One thing I do NOT miss is the deadzone, that eight or so yard space around your character where you could not use your ranged abilities, and especially, that small section of the deadzone where you could not use your melee abilities EITHER.Also: friggin mana instead of focus (Hunters were always meant to have focus as their resource, but Blizz was unable to make the system work adequately in time for the game's release, since Hunters were the last class added to the game.) Having mana as resource but no way to gain it back meant having to stack caster attributes on your armor, which feels backwards. Also, it meant it was possible to run out of juice during a boss fight, especially raid bossfight, which during Vanilla could be very very long. At one point it was possible to feign death and drop out of combat so you could eat and drink, but then the Blizz fun police closed that loophole, I think it was in one of the last few patches of Vanilla. As I recall, it was definitely gone by the time Burning Crusade hit though.Another thing on the "do not miss" list is friggin ammo. Not only was it a serious drain on your gold (you were literally plinking money away with each shot), running out of it during a boss fight in a dungeon could mean a wipe, since you went down to basically doing zero DPS. Yeah, you could wail on the boss with your melee weapons and the couple melee abilities which you had back then, but it was very ineffective. Also, recovering from fights where you ran out of ammo and then wiped took much longer, since you had to run back inside the instance, wait for it to load, hop into the portal and go back out again waiting for the world to load, (and in some cases fight your way through hordes of mobs which were sometimes elites and placed in a confusing labyrinth like outside Maraudon) so you could ride slowly on your ground mount (or worse, run super slow on foot) to the nearest vendor and buy more. It was basically easier to just drop group instead. And the "really cool" waiting an hour for a mail to arrive... No thanks. Jesus. I want to PLAY the game, not sit around waiting for an hour for that thing which I need to arrive. So yeah, I feel a lot of nostalgia for the things that are gone, like reagent vendors which were important and had a purpose but are now completely useless. And rogues brewing poison themselves, damn I miss that a lot. But so much of Vanilla's wonkiness I really don't miss at all.
How could anyone ever forget any of this? I might not remember what I eat yesterday, but I sure remember every single thing of this.Only thing that I actually forgot was that the auction house is for both factions nowadays, never getting used to that. ;-)
I never felt any sense of community in Vanilla, maybe it's because I never got a character to max level until WotLK but I never remembered anyone that wasn't in my guild, and even if I had I wouldn't consider recognizing a name from a dungeon as a community. Star Wars Galaxies on the other hand, THAT game had an entire class, Politician, who's sole purpose was to build and maintain player cities. The SWG equivalent of the AH also had a very small max price, so you were always going to player cities to get gear, run missions, etc, and it was impossible for even the most introvert players to not be familiar with the players, crafters, and guilds that ran those cities. THAT was a sense of community, and nothing WoW has had or ever will have could even come close to it.
Man I had forgotten most of those things...you can have ALL those time sinks,I'll stick with current WoW thank you..
so you liked the idea of it just not the thing itself, that's not exactly a resounding endorsement is it
Look at this, all the reasons classic won’t be popular long term in one video I played in vanilla and have no intention on going back. No way I want all that grind again. I have beta and won’t be logging in.. #fthatnoise
there's a LOT Of things you forget depending on what patch
I don't miss the ammo worries as a hunter (or shards as a lock). I remember being in WG one time and ran out of ammo - hunters melee-ing was not the way to go. Never forgot again.BUT, I did like the more interactive hunter - feeding/training - actually was interesting and thought on which pet to have/keep. That and having to level up a pet if you grabbed a lowbie one.As much as I'm looking forward to Classic, I'm actually more excited for BC - I liked many of the QoL changes/additions.
Ammo wasn't "fun" but it was flavorful and interesting. Did love the gold from selling the engineering made ammo and was a great source of gold when gold was harder to get.
This video goes beyond rose-colored glasses and into a realm I really didn't think was possible for human beings.
