With the launch of Battle of Dazar'alor, a new questline and achievement was added for Horde players:
The Shadow Hunter
. As many players have not yet defeated Jaina, we are highlighting this special questline.
This Vol'jin questline, which starts with
Wisdom of the Warchief
, is available to Horde players that have completed the following:
Patch 8.0 and 8.1 of the
Horde War Campaign
Exalted with the
Zandalari Empire
Defeated
Jaina Proudmoore
for
Battle of Dazar'alor
Completed the previous Vol'jin questlines for
Spirits Be With You
in Uldir
In this questline, we react to Sylvanas' new shocking decision, and everyone is puzzled why Vol'jin proclaimed Sylvanas Warchief on his deathbed. Starting with
Wisdom of the Warchief
, we assist Baine, Talanji, and Rokhan in communicating with Vol'jin and questioning Bwonsamdi, Eyir, and the Lich King.
We've transcribed all the dialogue in the
8.1 Vol'jin Questline
article, and you can learn more about Vol'jin's importance in past expansions in the
Lore of Vol'jin
guide.

Play both sides, get all the things.
Removed.
Horde get two unique questlines in the form of Saurfang and Vol'jin's storylines, complete with the addition of player choice. Alliance get nothing of the sort.
Horde get a CGI cinematic about Zekhan and Saurfang. Alliance get a CGI cinematic about Anduin and... Saurfang.
I get that the two factions aren't supposed to be equal all the time in terms of faction-unique content, but when am I going to receive anything like this as an Alliance player?
As an alliance player, out of lore topic, you receive a 30% stuff-receiving buff from warmode, a 385 ilvl piece of gear (400 one week ago) for just, well, being alliance and basically free camping horde players because there's some so-called "unbalance" in population between factions, which in fact, blizzard made it happen after adding a trinket for all races in Legion (making human active racial pretty much worthless in pvp since it shares cooldown), and making most of them going horde for the silence racial of blood elves for PvP purposes. Right after, alliance players started to cry over the fact blood elves had the advantage of having a silence, a trinket and obviously, two own trinkets of choice as a player. Then, how new of course, we as blood elves were removed our precious silence racial and we were given a free stealing buff racial, which in fact, alliances cry over about too, because blizzard decided to add a ton of scenarios in PvE, in which you are forced to remove a buff from a foe, and it is also worth in PvP scenarios.
I mean, not to be harsh or anything, but now that we were given two extra quests about lore, and I remind you that you guys received a lore-specific questline in 7.2 about Anduin and Varian while we got nothing in exchange, basically does not affect your gameplay at all, you too seem unhappy while you're given other advantages coming off from a problem that blizzard itself created in the first place.
This is one of the most ridiculous and petty comparisons I've ever seen. Are you aware that the entire reason this
incentive
was given to the Alliance was because the Alliance were no longer utilizing War Mode because of just how ludicrously unbalanced it had become in favor of the Horde? No, of course not. All you see is greener grass and you think everything is unfair because someone got a toy for participating in content no one was doing otherwise.
More importantly, this has
absolutely nothing
to do with imbalance between quest chains. Now don't get me wrong, I'm hardly riled up about this, but it is none the less genuinely disappointing to see--yet again, dare I mention--that Horde is getting more story content than the Alliance. One quest chain would be understandable, but two separate quest chains that are overflowing with lore, story content, and
player choices
is a bit much, don't you think? No, probably not. You're perfectly fine with it. After all, you are the one receiving the benefits of it.
Threads like this never play out in any kind of reasonable way.
