Having mained Hunter in Legion, I firmly believe this new incarnation is a massive improvement. Vulnerability was a convoluted mechanic which you had little control over. It felt more like how a Sub rogue plays, requiring so much setup just to fire your main ability.I personally enjoy the hard hitting feeling of AS now, combined with how satisfying RF is to use. I'd like to see them double down on the Doubleshot and Lethal Shots playstyle (where you empower 1 of your big 2 abilities with unique buffs) by having them on different tier rows so you can pick both. How cool would it be to to line up all your cooldowns so that you have Rapid Fire where every arrow is a guaranteed crit, it fires twice as many arrows and lasts 30% longer than normal? In my opinion the tweaks mentioned in the article (and they are only tweaks) are all that is necessary to make MM a fantastic spec in BFA. Specifically buffing some of the dead talents (Volley and Piercing Shot I'm looking at you) and making Trueshot more impactful. Our 100 tier row is the least interesting of all right now, and that should never be the case.
Hey guys! I main MM hunter and MW monk, but all I've tried so far in 8.0 is MM hunter, BM hunter and spriest lol. I don't switch specs, so I have a specific character I've been maining MM on since WoDBut basically I'm agreeing with everyone saying the spec is currently very slow and very boring. It took me some getting used to vulnerable debuff in Legion, but once I did, AOE felt amazing. Now my spam of multi shot hits like foam darts ;;Aimed shot feels like a heavy hit, but the focus regen is terribly slow, ending up with only one or two casts of it and having to fill with your boring regen shot over and over. I played demo lock in Legion and it feels similar to that spec's lack of mana and having to stumble over the rotation just to get your resources up for another minute of damage buttonsThe rotation is just three different 'wow you shoot' buttons. I enjoyed the fast paced feel of Legion - trying out Antorus with the changes made me almost fall asleep, whereas I payed attention and had fun a few weeks ago ;;;;;;OH and god am I bad at applying the 5% damage arrow manually. I keep forgetting I need to do that, especially on multi target fights. I'm sure I'll get used to it, but it feels clunkyI'm very much hoping Azerite traits will effect this... But right now I'm nervously avoiding my main dps haha ;;;And despite BM being gutted, too, at least the attacks are still fun. I liked throwing my pets at enemies in Legion, but I'm... Okay with the changes there. Compared to standing still as MM with loooong casts and no resources and being slow, BM feels like you're still free to jump around everywhere and have a blast with things like chimera shot (which I remember being a favorite of mine for MM in WoD)
this couldn't have been updated recently, as it still has information relating to steady shots capping at 4, instead of 2
So apparently nobody here can see the issue with Lone Wolf? Everyone calling Blizzard retarded for having the ramp up time on the buff, read the article. If you are going single target, having a pet gives more DPS, if going AoE the lone wolf buff makes your DPS higher than with a pet. That is why there is the ramp up time, so it would stop a rather ridiculous mechanic of having your pet during a boss fight and "Oh adds appeared, let me dismiss my pet for AoE damage". Calling pets during fights is a BM thing you know.
Unpopular opinion here, but I actually love the rework. Except for Trueshot lacking some of its burst, everything else feels awesome.I love how i can one-shot mobs with Aimed Shot, feels like a true sniper fantasy. Aimed shot takes longer to cast, but feels more rewarding. Carefully positioning to dish out a hard-hitting shot, while the rest of the time you are free to move. We lost RNG and gained mobility. The vulnerable mechanic felt too RNG and too punishing if you had to switch target or move at the wrong second.I'm not too worry about the sims. People tend to forget that sims usually calculate based on perfect preformance, which in most cases isn't applicable for the majority of players. The fact that MM's rotation got a bit more forgiving, AKA easier, means that it will be easier to execute than more convoluted rotations that sims higher. You doomsayers said the same about Legion, and it turned up just fine. The rework makes most people hate it straight away, just because it has different mechanics and pace than what they were used to.
MM feels incredibly slow with lackluster sustain damage. Aimed Shot is great starting off the fight, but if that doesn't kill your target, it's a very slow trudge to kill things. I also absolutely HATE Steady Shot. I was glad for its removal in legion, and it's honestly the change that pissed me off the most for BfA. A slow, lackluster damage ability to regain a meager amount of Focus? WHY?
I liked more than Legion but still less than the WoD one.
QQ more hunters, you have been OP for 3 xpac. It isn't fair for me to cast a 2-3 second spell while you are moving and shooting faster than I can count.
the only time I've ever used the trailblazer talent is for Mythic Imonar to get across the bridge in a timely manner....otherwise it's not worth the effort to talent swap. Now I'll probably just grab a cunning pet for running through old content. Also, how are people complaining about aimed shot and not being mobile? did they not play legion? This iteration is so much better, not having to waste a damage buff cause a swirly popped under your feet right when you needed to cast aimed....I had the worst luck ever with vulnerable :(
