Legion Pre-Expansion Patch: Major Class, Character Visuals, and Gear Updates
The Legion pre-expansion patch, live on July 19, has a variety of updates to your character. In this post, we'll look at some of the major updates like new models, new visual effects, the biggest class changes, revamped glyphs, and changed stats.

This is a look at some of the biggest changes coming to classes in the pre-patch. The

Combat Rogues Replaced with Outlaw
The Combat specialization has been replaced by the Outlaw specialization.
Some abilities are familiar from Combat, but the spec has more of a brawler/pirate feel.

Fistweaving and Gladiator Unsupported
Fistweaving as we know it for Mistweaver Monks and Gladiator for Protectior Warriors are not supported in the Legion pre-expansion patch.
Fistweaving is making somewhat of a return via the Monk PvP talent

Survival Hunters Melee
Survival Hunters have a major revamp, placing them as a melee spec with a pet.
New abilities include
You'll want to look for a suitable melee weapon to use in the pre-patch. Survival Hunters favor two-handed weapons such as polearms, 2H axeand swords.

Demonology is now a completely pet-based specialization with a handful of new abilities.
Demonology Warlocks no longer turn into demons, Metamorphosis is removed.

Shadow Priest Void Form
Shadowform is now permanent for Shadow Priests.
Abilities generate Insanity; when 100 Insanity is reached, Shadowform can transform into
This enhanced form has special graphics, increases damage done by 20%, and adds 1% haste per second.
Your Insanity will drain quickly and
will be removed when it hits 0, but the haste bonus will persist for a minute after.

Petless Options for Marksmanship Hunters and Frost Mages
Marksmanship Hunters can take the talent
to be a competitive petless class.
Frost Mages also have the option to be petless with the talent

Shadow Priests no longer use Shadow Orbs; they instead build Insanity to reach Void Form.
All Warlocks now use Soul Shards; Demonic Fury and Burning Embers have been removed.

Balance Druids no longer have Eclipse; instead they use Astral Power on some abilities.
Death Knights have one rune type.
Changed Abilities and Glyphs
Raid buff spells that grant your party a stat increase have been removed.
The Mass Resurrection guild perk has been removed. Only healers will be able to mass-rez:
Attunement spells, which granted a 5% boost to a certain stat, have been removed.
Draenor Perks, which added benefits to some spells over level 90, have been removed and their effects have generally been added to the base spell.
Major Glyphs have been removed, and much of their functionality has been added to existing spells.
Cosmetic glyphs are remaining, and some vanity effects have been converted to toys.
In the Legion pre-patch, you are playing versions of classes that are balanced for Legion content without the Legion Artifact, so you are not getting a full picture of the spec.
New Talent System
In addition to many brand-new talents, the process by which you switch your talents has changed.
Currently in Warlords of Draenor you need a cheap reagent to swap between talents, and you must pay to dual-spec.
In the pre-expansion patch, you need a crafted reagent to swap between talents when not in a rested area, and you can respec freely.
The item needed to change talents for level 100 players is

Druids have received updated Cat, Bear, and Moonkin Forms. We have

More Warlock demons have received model updates.
Most classes have new spell animations, most notably melee. Each melee specialization has a distinctive color associated with it, which is used for most abilities. The pacing of combat animations has been improved as well so heavy-hitting abilities look like they have more of an impact.

New 2H Idle Animation for Monks
Staves are now displayed differently for Brewmaster Monks :
Hellfire Citadel Loot
Hellfire Citadel loot is now part of the new Legion bonus system. This means that instead of hoping for a Warforged upgrade of +6 ilvls, your Hellfire Citadel item can have a variety of item levels, in increments of +5 ilvls.
Anything up to +15 over the base ilvl has the "Warforged" description.
Any loot over +15 of the base ilvl has the "Titanforged" descirption.
Hellfire Citadel should also be easier to clear: all bosses have the
Multistrike, Spirit, and Bonus Armor are no longer found on gear.
With removed stats, several consumables grant different stats than before:
grants Versatility instead of Bonus Armor.
grants Versatility instead of Spirit.
grants Critical Strike instead of Multistrike.
Multistrike Ring Enchants grant Mastery instead.
Multistrike Neck Enchants grant Haste instead.
Multistrike Cloak Enchants grant Critical Strike instead.
Multistrike Gems grant Haste instead.
Multistrike Food grants Critical Strike instead.
As part of transmog, players can put illusions on their weapons. Enchanters may want to farm up some old-world materials in advance, as they can craft items which unlock unique illusion appearances. . Honor Points are removed in the Legion pre-expansion patch.
will be available from Battlegrounds, Arenas, and Skirmishes. An additional change to PvP transmog gear is that loot has been shuffled around on some vendors. There are no longer Legacy NPCs who sell all items from a particular expansion; instead one NPC will sell Season 9 transmog gear, another will sell Season 10, etc. As an added benefit, some Wrath-era weapons that never made it to PvP vendors are being sold again!

Mail to Plate Conversion
Hunters and Shamans use mail gear from level 1, and Paladins and Warriors now use plate from level 1.
To this end, many low-level rewards have been converted to the appropriate armor type. Blizzard has tried to avoid breaking up existing transmog sets, so many popular sets using world-drop BoEs should still be usable on your existing characters.
