It's Talk Like A Pirate Day in World of Warcraft, Too!

September 19th (today) is
Pirates' Day
in World of Warcraft, an in-game version of the international holiday
Talk Like A Pirate Day
! There's nothing new this year, so I'm just going to repost last year's guide for you guys, in case there's some new players out there who haven't had to opportunity to participate! While Pirates' Day not a full-blown holiday (such as
Winter's Veil
or the
Midsummer Fire Festival
), it still provides an amusing distraction from the everyday grind - complete with pirate costumes and flagons of grog!
The festivities take place in Booty Bay, located in southern
Stranglethorn Vale
. Here players will find a horde of pirates celebrating on top the roof of the Booty Bay bank. For those of us who celebrate Pirates Day every day of the year (ie.
Bloodsail Admirals
!) and haven't yet made up with the goblins of Booty Bay, it may be difficult to reach these NPCs without some guard aggro. However, because they are located on top of the roof you should be mostly safe from new guard spawns. Horde players will have it a bit easier due to the location of their flight master.
Once you've arrived, speak to the
Dread Captain DeMeza
and share a festive drink. She will grant you the
恐怖海盗
buff, giving you a sweet pirate costume of whatever race your character is which lasts 12 hours! This buff will stay on while mounted, in combat, and even pertains through death, though it will, of course, break if shapeshifting - because druids can't ever have any fun. Obtaining this buff will also earn you the
one achievement
related to this holiday,
船长的宝藏
. This achievement, of course, is
not required
for any version of
, and since there aren't any other achievements there isn't a player title related to this holiday. You'll have to work on becoming a
Bloodsail Admiral
to show off your pirate pride!
Head on out to Booty Bay and celebrate with DeMeza and her Dread Crew, as they laugh, drink, shoot fireworks (and cannons) and generally cause mischief for the resident goblins and their leader,
Baron Revilgaz
. Festive pirate music fills the air as you dance with the likes of
Cap'n Slappy
and
Ol' Chumbucket
, in-game homages to the
real founders
of Talk Like A Pirate Day! Drinking and dancing, ahoy!
You can even get into the spirit of the festivities with the
Pirate Speak
addon, which can be found on
WoWInterface
. Pirate Speak will spice up your in-game chatting with familiar pirate dialect, though you will have to enable out-of-date addons. Download it and annoy your guil-- er, I mean
show off your pirate pride
this Pirates Day!
