The dragonling will be a level equal to your engineering skill/5 (Gnomes will have level 63 dragonlings). Deals about 20 damage to a level 60 mob, 2.0 attack speed. Very little health.

I tried it out too - level 35 dragonling, lives for 1 minute, cooldown of *60* minutes. According to Cosmos, it did 312 total damage against my level 32 foe (that satyr with the branch of cenarus or whatever). Probably could have done as much as 600 if its full lifespan was spent attacking something. That's about as much as a grenade or two, but without AE or stun, and with 60 times the cooldown of one.
Neat toy, but it's not all that practical.

This little guy is worth it if you ask me. If you have to kill something that's higher level than you... and you just can't seem to solo them... then this little guy is the tie-breaker.
Also good as an anti-gank device. Love it when someone comes up to you just as you finish a fight with a mob, expecting an easy kill when you're at half-health. Activate dragonling, and suddenly you're not such easy prey.

It can be used any number of times. The lifespan is -per use- so you can always re-activate it. All engineering pets function this way, with the exception of exploding sheep, whose lifespan is rather shorter.

He didn't say 600 dps he said total 312 with a max of 600 dmg not max of 600 dps

A little tip, if you make a dummy and let something kill it, it drops Fused Wiring. Save you all having to search for years for it to drop ;)

What determines the lvl of it? heard of it being 35-41 and does the lvl even make a differece since it always seems to strike for about 40?

It really dies after one minute? cant you heal it with the Mechanical repair kit?

yeah, it works with pet... little guy only last for 1 min, but is fun first couple of time and in town :)

These do not die, they just look like they die but there corpse dissapears and then you have to wait an hour, then you can use it again.

Okay you might like this so READ IT! any combat pets you summon relate to the skill of your engineering, each 5 engineering skill is 1 lvl of your pet, you learn these plans at lvl 200 so the pet lvl is 40, if you were 205 the lvl would be 41, 300 = lvl 60, it works like that so goodluck and keep up on ur engineering!
( The same thing works for all dragons and chicken pet thingys )

So I made one of these, and I found a practical use for it that is very handy in a PvP server. I had one of these when I was lv 33. It was lv 45 in comparison. So what do I use it for? A lv 40 Rogue got the drop on me, and the second he Vanished, I threw this guy out. Being lv 45, it saw him alot easier than I could and knocked him out of Stealth, then I Netted him, and kicked his butt. =D

Engineering 255 creates a level 45 Dragonling.
Can be used multiple times BUT only for 1 minute every hour (As stated many times before)
Nice for when you are in trouble, don't rely on it though.
Beware, as with many of these pets.. They are very aggressive... If it kills a treat it WILL go to another treat (If it's near enough) Even if you don't want it to.
You can ONLY have 1, that is ONE... If you made one for yourself you can NOT make another one, you'll simply get "
you have to many already
" Now THAT sux :-( You'll have to sell or trash yours if you want to create a new one to sell to a friend or in AH.
ONLY engineers can use 'm... And yes they need to have a skill of 200... Pretty stupid that most items engineers create can only be used BY engineers... Try to explain that to new players :-(

as with most of the engineering stuff; somewhat useless but amusing in pve, but can win pvp encounters.
I found myself up against a lvl 43 dragonling in AB (me being 35), which was summoned by a dwarf I was sure i'd beat. that is; i thought i'd beat him untill this thing started wailing on me.
Ouch

I just created one of these and tested it out to collect some basic information about it.
Stats:
Health: ~306
Damage: ~1092 over 60 seconds (18.21dps)
Attack Speed: 1.8
Type: Defensive
Cooldown: 30 seconds to equip, 1 hour to reuse.
Required to Use: Engineering 200
Required to Make: Engineering 200
Info:
It does on average 18dps, which doesn't seem like a lot. However, it did 510 damage over 28 seconds before dying. That means if it lasted the full minute it could do over 1000 damage to your target and that is a lot.
I believe this is best coupled with a tank, warrior, pet, or druid, and maybe target dummy so that it does not take aggro and that much damage.
The 1 hour cool down seems harsh at first but figuring if you can get the full 1000 damage out of it it can turn a losing battle in a winning one and is free to use, no mana requirements, etc.
PLEASE NOTE: You must be attacked BEFORE this will do anything, it is a defensive toy not offensive. It is probably best to drop this after the battle is going and an idea of how it is turning out can be made.
For the test I used a L31 Snapjaw near Tarren Mills.
Good Luck young Engineers!

I haven't even tried this in combat, but since I don't have any other trinket than this and the cloaking device, I'll just keep it until I find a better one. It's fun to summon it in town and then cry when it breaks down ._.
Anyway, here are two pictures of it:

Oh and a comment about this:
https://www.wowhead.com/classic/ccb=1&v;=6973
(well it's over a year old but what the heck...)
Maybe it does damage only as much as a grenade or two, but there's just one little thing... you can use this
and
the grenade or two at the same time! This is a trinket and so it doesn't take space in your inventory - unless you have more than two trinkets. In that case I don't know would I even have this with me. Funny little thing anyway.

Look at it like this if you are a gnome at lvl 20 u can have a 48 dragonling at lvl 35 a 63 if u go gnomish eng. then u can have a battle chicken and this out together (just summon chicken first) if this isnt a tide turner then i dont know what is

Okay I've read a lot of comments both from people asking who sells this and other (less useful) people disrespecting them for supposedly not learning to read themselves, however I've tried both firefox and IE and on my screen it's not displaying anything about who sells this item. Here, see for yourself

Not sure if anyone else posted about this (long threads), but the Battle Chicken/Mechanical Dragonlings can detect stealth very easily if you take the time to level up your engineering early.
I'm currently playing a 30-39 Mage BG twink, and my level 60 pets detect stealth from about 20-30 yards away (!). It's quite satisfying to see my chicken go flying across the map, then peck at a stealthed rogue/druid for 1 damage :D

Well in theory, you could have 12 pets out at once, i'll explain (its crazy, but i'd love to see the screen shot)
1) hunter pet or lock pet
2) regular pet (cat, snake, ect...)
3) battle chicken
4) Arcanite Dragonling
5-7) Barov peasent caller (brings 3 peasants out)
8-12) Alliance rat quest (have 5 rats following you)
Now if anyone can post this screen shot, i'll give you a cookie :P

These are trinket pets like all the other engineering items, useable over and over again. Simply put it in your trinket slot and activate.
Then you have an hour as it says above, before its mext use still useful when you are OOM, or need a little bit more damage for a harder than usual to kill foe. :)

Just a little pic i made from my dragonling. Im a goblin engineer, the dragonling is lvl 50 with me 250 engineering. Its great when i get ganked in stranglethorn, whip it out and useually the ganker gets scared #%@*less. Its good in instances aswell, could just tip the scales of a battle in your favor.

even if it doesnt change much its usefull to have and make because you can reuse it as many times as you want.
its nice for when you get an unexpected add or need another offtank suddenly. its instant cast so he pops right out to attack random mob near you, if your pet class, you can tell your pet to attack mob that dragon isn't, having them both tank different mob and keep them off you. in groups he can save some dmg from you or other players by distracting a mob, if he can do enough dmg to get aggro. you can also clicky him out to distract mobs while you run for your life. He is lvl35, i only used him few times, did not notice much dmg, but he didnt have trouble getting aggro. by time you get this he might not be able to tank anything but hes still helpfull and completly reuseable.

the arcanite dragonlin requires 2 arcanite parts, which are made from a arcanite bar each, that's one hell of a dent in your wallet.

This dragon, and I suspect all other engie pets have a level based directly on your engineering skill. 5 engineering = 1 level for your pet.
So in theory it is possible to have level 60 engineering pets as soon as you unlock artisan? engineering 300 skill point cap at lev 35.
The pets damage doesnt seem to increase much (if at all) with the level increase though.

It says: "It requires an hour to cool down before it can be used again."
I think that implies that yes, it can be used again.

This item is useful.
I use it mostly on bosses or when I get too many adds. The one hour cooldown does not make it useful for normal combat however.
The dragon is level 35 and hits for 15dmg to 76dmg a hit depending on the level & armor of the creature it is attacking. It hits every 1.5 seconds or so. It attacks any enemy near it, so use only when you don't mind it attacking every enemy in a 15 foot radius around you. (Basically if they are close enough to agro on you the pet will agro on them.)
Deffinately worth making if you solo frequently, or if you find yourself in tight situations often.
I'm a level 34 Gnome Rogue doing Gnomish Engineering, skill at 240.

For those in SoD: This guy is level 40 and has 300 health. It hit for 33 every swing but didn't show up on details damage meter at all so I can't say how much dps it is. I'd guess it was hitting once every couple seconds.
Worth it if you have nothing else in the slot or you can use it as a "prepot" once an hour. Equip 30 seconds before pull and use a macro like below.
#showtooltip Mechanical Dragonling
/use Mechanical Dragonling
