Used to open the Sealed Boxes that are lying around the ruins of Dalaran.

They're used to open the containers found in the same area that the summoners are (not the locked chests).
I got a Fine Parchment and a Gryphon Feather Quill from one.

They're called "Hidden Strongbox."

The Hidden Strongboxes are small (about one third the size of a regular chest) and black with silver fittings, making them pretty hard to spot. The two I've found were in destroyed buildings without a roof.

The boxes look like the footlockers that are dotted around the land for rogues to lockpick and the runes drop from the Dalarians around the purple bubble.

I've opened 5 or 6 of these boxes and they have all contained nothing but junk.

I've only found two of these boxes and they seem to respawn at the same places every 5 mins approx. One is between some bricks on the south side, and another in a fireplace on the north side.

I think it's betetr to just sell the runes stead of using em, u get more money then form selling junk

These don't sell to vendors, and they don't disenchant either, that list is just a thottbot error. I didn't have any luck finding the boxes while I was questing there, so I just trashed the runes.

I have found 3 consistent hidden chest locations. chests seem to spawn every ten minutes or so.

12,76 - on building foundations, out in open
19,76 - in ruins, nestled in an L shape of rubble
20,65 - behind building, right next to dome.

The only drop I have ever seen from them is a single "Fine parchment" that has only seen use in selling for 23 coppers. The "runes of opening" themselves are uncommon but not rare. drop rate of probably 5-10% from the human types in the area.

Has anyone considered the possibility that the bloodstone pendant, mentioned in Belamoore's Research Journal from the internment camp, might be a "drop" in one of the boxes found in Dalaran? The Research Journal mentions that the pendant was sent to Dalaran, but was never delivered.

If you check thottbot using the keyword 'bloodstone', you'll notice that the bloodstone pendant doesn't seem to be on the list. Closest thing to it is the bloodstone amulet which is part of another hillsbrad quest, which probably means that the syndicate (drops from them) probably stole the pendant, and thus the story/quest continues..

There was a small box on the north end of dalaran behind a destroyed building.. it had a feather in it worth a whopping 30 copper.

We found a Hidden Strongbox inside a building in Dalaran, required this rune to open it.

I found one of the boxes at 21, 53 tuck near the chimney on the outside of the decrepid house. All I got was a piece of parchment and a broken wand.

so these are pretty much useless and should be thrown away .... I have never heard anyone getting anything .. not even a white item out of one of the chest these open...

But if anyone has gotten anything use plz post ...

My guess is blizz but em in for a quest.... but never actually put in the quest ...

I found a keyhole in the pink Dalaran bubble. When I used that thing in that hole, tha bubble vanished and I could see what's under that dome!

these runes drop fast enough, but the chests they open dont! we opened like 2 or 3 chests, and then no more came, weve been waiting like 20 minutes. all we got was some feathers. and its really weird, is this object the "Hidden Strongbox: requires Rune of Opening," isn't in allahs database. cant imagine something like this isnt in here yet, very strange indeed. however i went and downloaded wow reader on my friends comp (i have a mac) and opened a chest so it will be in allahs database hopefully at next update. we got a broken wand on this one, so if u see on allahs database these "Hidden Strongboxes" around dalaran, that was us :)

I found a strongbox in a North East ruined building North side of Dalaran's pink bubble, and it is dark grey and rectangular, It doesnt look like a normal chest. I opened one and got a "plain parchment", grey vendortrash worth 24c!

Found one at 18,14 (south) containing a Broken Wand and Gryphon Feather Quill.
I couldn't find any others though, and I looked *all* over, incl. other listed coords. Was the only one there too. Maybe there's only one box that changes locs.

There's also an Alliance Strongbox at 0,0 in a cart - great for a rogue.

I found two 隐蔽的保险箱 in the ruins around Dalaran (Alterac mountains). The first had 破损的魔杖 and the second had 优质羊皮纸 and 狮鹫羽毛.
The ID's for these items are sequential so we can assume what they'd all contain:

ID 3765 掠夺者肩铠 Not relevant
ID 3766 狮鹫羽毛 Confirmed loot
ID 3767 优质羊皮纸 Confirmed loot
ID 3768 Deprecated Anti-magic Potion Assumed loot
ID 3769 破损的魔杖 Confirmed loot
ID 3770 羊排 Not relevant

Maybe there's some RP value in these items but if you're saving for a mount at level 40 this isn't the treasure for you.
