Yeah the stats are much lower. But the spellpower got raised. And guess what, spellpower is far more important then stats.
In case you haven't noticed, melee classes are getting better and better weapons and as such their dmg output keeps going up. For casters their dmg stays the same. It actually got to the point where guilds take only rogues and warriors to Ragnaros and leave mages and warlocks at home because of the huge dps difference.
Spellpower is the only thing that can raise caster dmg so you better start loving it or you will be looking against many deaths against epic equipped melee classes with 60% of your mana left.

Bat Eyes are undoubtably the hardest way to get this trinket, but if you don't have the right trade skill, there's an easy way to get lots of Bat Eyes.
There are a ton of people killing bats (for the bat kill quest among other things), and most of them just view the Evil Bat Eyes as vendor trash.
Go to EPL, and start farming bats.
Every couple of minutes, put a spam into general chat "Does anyone have any Evil Bat Eyes? I will pay 1g for them! They vendor for 20s!"
I got a lot more bat eyes from other people in this way than I did farming them myself.

After getting about 400 darkmoone tickets like a moron, I realised that this necklace actually purely sucks for priests and other healer classes.
The stats are totally sucky compared to tooth of gnarr for example, and you can get
from Rammstein a similar necklace
, but with a better healing bonus .
Keep your tickets for future items, this item is only for damage dealers.

Update: anyone can now turn in Thorium Widgets, Rugged Armor Kits and Dense Grinding Stones for tickets.

and start grinding 1200 painful tickets for this?

This is far superior to Anasari or Dark Advisor.
11 stam and +22 to ALL spells? That is epic my friend.. especially for us PvP locks that use Fire as our primary weapon.
Man.. too bad the grind is just stupid.

i've done it in a way simmilar to the above poster. My 2nd char is ing, and since 20 Thoriumbars are about 3g buyout, it's very easy to make many many thorium widgets! You just need some more Runecloth, but hey nothing is easyer farmable!
You'll ned 6 Thorium Widgets for 20 Tickets.
20 Thoriumbars = 6 Thorium Widgets = 20 Tickets
This means if you buy all the Thorium for your Neck thing, then you spent about 180g.
Ok its expensive, but you also have glowing scorpid blood and evil bat eyes to turnin! Here 10 items = 20 Tickets
The scorpids in silithus drop the glowing blood at about 25%! In about an hour you will farm 20blood if you are fast with killing!
All in all a realy easy optainable very nice epic +dmg necklace!

I did a bit of both to get this, mainly thorium widgets that I made with my engineer priest and sent to my mage (yes, you no longer need to be that profession to turn in items made by it). I also farmed Monstrous Plaguebats up in EPL. Note the Monstrous- the other ones have really bad drop rate, which I suspect is why some people are having trouble getting the eyes. They're a pain because they silence, but that's what wands are for...
I also collected vibrant plumes in Deadwind Pass until I couldn't turn those in anymore. High drop rate, but not very many birds there, so if there's competition you're better off in EPL. The scorpids in Silithus are a bad idea. There's too many spiders to aggro, so it's actually dangerous, there's competition, and now that AQ is open there's massive lag. I also observed very low drop rate of the blood, which caused me to stop at 20 and go back to making widgets.
If you just want to buy your way to it, it doesn't make much difference which item you pick- just make sure it's a 20 ticket reward, since those can always be turned in.

so I just got my orb of the darkmoon but now I see
Beads of Ogre Mojo
is a quest reward which isn't bad at all. Especially since it has some intellect on it. Kinda feeling like my orb isn't so epic.

You can get the 1200 tickets pretty fast if you can play all the time. I can't (job, family, etc.), I only play 5-6 hours per week. The strategy I used was to multitask and put all my efforts into getting the tickets. here's my recommendations...
First, farm the harpies in Thousand Needles for Vibrant Plumes. There's a cave with a ton of them, and they respawn quickly. Turn these in until you can't anymore.
After that you can turn in Rugged Armor Kits, Thorium Widgets, Grinding Stones, Evil Bat Eyes, and Glowing Scorpid Blood for tickets. This is where the multitasking comes in.
I dropped herbalism to get skinning. Rugged Leather is the easiest thing to get and drops off most higher level animals. As soon as I had 300 skinning I started with the scorpids in Silithus. They drop Glowing Scorpid Blood and 50% of the time drop Rugged Leather. My strategy was to take anything that drops and sell it (repair costs first), then search the AH and buyout stacks of Rugged Leather, Thorium bars (or Ore whatever is cheaper), Scorpid blood, etc. On my server Thorium ore was the cheapest per ticket. Work out the math and see what's most cost effective. check with the opposite faction's AH too, it's a pain to transfer stuff over but sometimes things are way cheaper.
So I did this for a week or two every night, and damn it got boring. So I went to check out the Bat situation in Eastern Plaguelands for a change of pace. I found it to be ugly, the drop rates sucked and everything kept infecting me with diseases. Back to Silithus.
I also tried the yeti cave in Winterspring. They drop money, items, and most of the time skin into Rugged Leather. This might be the best place to farm- there were always tons of people killing yetis and leaving them to us skinners. Often you don't even have to kill any of them, there's yeti corpses all over. Can easily get 100 skins in an hour or two.
Keep track of things and know where you're at, you don't want to grind more than you have to. Use an alt to hold everything as it takes a lot of space. When you have everything gather all your mats and find a friendly leatherworker and engineer. Done. Took me a few weeks of sporadic playing. Going to turn it in soon! can't wait for this nice piece of +damage...

I'll just talk about farming monster body parts as a means of getting tickets. I did it with my now 60 mage, and I'm doing it now with my 43 hunter (for the "Amulet of the Darkmoon," different stats but same concept). Note: if you're a skinner/leather maker, the scorpids give up rugged leather (I believe) for rugged armor kits, making your task that much easier.
ABBREVIATED VERSION: Farm Vibrant Plumes ONLY in One Thousand Needles until you have 130. Farm
Glowing Scorpid Blood in Silithus for the remainder. Do both while your character gets experience points for the kills.
First, go for vibrant plumes in One Thousand Needles in the harpy cave mentioned in other posts. DO NOT TURN IN ANY OTHER ITEMS OTHER THAN PLUMES! DON'T EVEN TURN IN THE "DARKMOON FAIRE QUEST" THAT GETS YOU 5 TICKETS AND 50 REP UNTIL YOU'RE DONE WITH THE PLUMES! You can only turn in lower tier items until reputation 2600, and vibrant plumes give you the most. That means if you turn in the lower tier items, such as small furry paw (1 ticket per 5 paws) or torn bear pelts (4 tickets per 5 pelts), you will get less tickets by 2600 rep. For example, if you did the lowest tier possible for each turn in, you would only have 185 tickets as opposed to 312.
Second, farm glowing scorpid blood in Silithus. The drop rate was about 23%, and it was a long grind. However, they drop a claw that sells for 1.4 gold per stack of 10, and you'll get greens every so often. The mobs have a wide range, so take out spiders before they take you out.
At least they drop various spider webs that were listed at decent prices on AH.
Third, consider doing this with someone else when you can. That means you only get 1/2 the drops, but as long as you can kill more than twice as fast, you do better in the long run. You also die less often with someone backing you up. Plus, if you're the only skinner, you get to skin his kills for rugged leather.
Finally, do all of this when you get experience for it. The harpies were levels 28-30, so my 40 mage stayed at 40 while my 32-34 hunter kept leveling. In Silithus, I started when the mage was 56 and hit 60 with only 1/2 the Scorpid Blood I needed (partially due to levels 58 and 59 being double XP. My hunter will go there at level 54. The various scorpions are different levels, the lowest being 54 or 55, the highest being 58.
If you have a profession for other turn-ins, you'll adapt your strategy as you see fit. As an alchemist/herbalist, it was farm or buy off of AH.
Good luck!

A fairly easy ride: log in and do a mining trip every day in Burning Steppes, Un'goro and Winterspring, mine all thorium veins, send the dense stone to your smith alt, smelt the thorium and send it to your engineer alt, sell the arcane crystal that drops every now and then... usually I do a one-hour mining trip every morning which gives me 20 to 40 bars of thorium, plus dense stones. Make thorium widgets (either farm the runecloth or buy it from AH) and dense grinding stones, turn them in, and you'll get your epic item in about one month, without grinding heavily.

Spirit isn't so great for a warlock, quite disappointing non of the darkmoon faire rewards is for warlocks.
Someone mentioned it's better for boss fights, well, theorically, but not really, I think it won't be that noticable, having a necklace that does good in short fights will make up for that anyway.

This amulet kicks ass. Best amulet outside MC / BWL.
Also it isn't that hard to get. Just takes some time. :)

question for me is always this vs. Amulet of the Dawn, and I always end up choosing Amulet of the Dawn.
Amulet of the Dawn
+13 Intellect
+13 Stamina
Equip: Increases damage and healing done by magical spells and effects by up to 15.
Sure Amulet of the Dawn has 7 less dmg/healing per spell and no spirit, but it has 2 more stam and 13 int, whereas Orb has no int at all. In theory Orb is better for longer boss fights, but overall I still think Amulet is better.

Hi, I am trying to get this amulet, so I have farm soft bushy tail in Kargath (badlands). I turned the quest in the darmoon fair but after I got 120 tickets, the quest for the soft bushy tail has disapear and there was still the other quests like evil eye, etc. Bug? Or is it normal and you have to farm each quest item 120/8 times?

So if you plan to buy this before hitting 60 I have bad news. You must be level 55+ to purchase it, otherwise the vendor will not show it. I'm not going to make it to 55 before the faire leaves town, so now I have to wait a month with 1200 tickets in my bank :(

After waiting some weeks for Choker of the Fire Lord(
https://classic.wowhead.com/item=18814/choker-of-the-fire-lord#see-also
),
my guild turning to LC and i have to pick 3 desirable items from MC+BWL.
So i made it the hard way. I don't have a friend engineer, so i skilled up my 40lvl alt.
I think it's the easiest profession to skill up comparing the other 2 needed for items.
I spent about 250g to get him up to 300 including thorium widgets for turn-in.
