best fire mage belt until C'thun's Eyestalk Waste Cord (I used it for 8 months)
The Eyestalk Waste Cord
Is the big brother of the MIC. Considering how early a caster can get the cord, it lasts amazingly long. For pure damage, this lasts until tier 3.
This belt is amazing. This is an MC drop and has no comparison until C'thun of AQ40. Has great stats, great damage, and even a chance to crit. Netherwind Belt (Tier2) has nothing compared to it with only 23 damage and stats, no brainer to take the Mana Igniting over that one. Even the AQ40 belt isn't THAT much more amazing with 41 damage and 1% crit, only 16 dmg upgrade from a much much harder instance. This drop is great and I highly recommend picking this one up.
The point is that most guilds who get the epic items on this site have a heavy focus on PvE. Although an item may be reasonable for classes A and B to have in PvP, they probably won't be allowed to roll over classes C and D who can make excellent PvE use of it. It just comes down to what guilds care about most: their PvE progression or letting people get whatever they want.
There may be something better in BWL, but if a mage doesn't take this for ANY other belt, especially Arcanist or of the Archmage, there is no kind way to put it. They're an idiot.
better than even the netherwind belt unles set bonuses come into play. very nice to use when you get a t2 crown or legs and break 8 set bonus on the t1 set. I wish it didnt look like a coal miners belt tho.
this dropped last night and i won the roll BUT this stupid "class priority" crap they were saying so some loser mage won, i don't really care if anyone thinks its locks and mages only item cus of +dmg/healing and crit chance, anything that has good stamina and intellect and +dmg/healing if even...is good for any caster
A druid in my guild got this today, even if there were a few mages and 'locks that needed it xD Oomkin' FTW!
for a level 71 piece of loot. This is stat distribution done right, unlike the atrocity that is Netherwind Belt, a full 5 ilvls higher, and still a good 12-17 expected damage output lower than this beauty.
Especially considering you only need to go as far as Magmadar to have a chance at getting this belt, whereas its first substantial dps upgrade for a fire mage lies deep into the heart of AQ40: C'thun, with his ilvl 90, 41 dmg 1% crit monster belt.
Mages: this may *never* drop for you, but if it does, for god's sake, bid on it. Its worth every penny.
Shadow Priests: Firemaw's Clutch was built for you. Don't let anyone tell you different. MIC's value is wasted on you, but don't be afraid to grab it if its going cheap, or if your guild is far from Firemaw.
Warlocks: Sash of Whispered Secrets will go much cheaper than than this belt for comparable damage output, but if you're Ruin Spec, MIC is awesome too.
So unless your guild forces you to bid on upgrades (techically they should), save up for the items I listed, and ESPECIALLY for this beauty of a belt.
This thing dropped tonight, my first time seeing it in a few months. I immediately mentioned I wanted it when it came around. It ended up being a
taking this over me. My first thoughts were, "You've got to be kidding me."
Unfortunately we had no priorities on the belt even though it's obvious Mages/Warlocks would kill for it.
All he said was, "It's good for Elemental shammies, get over it."
Time to wait for the next drop...
When I read this, people made remarks like "Priests only have one spell that can crit". Why do people assume that all damage Priests are Shadow Priests? Since the new patch I'm spec'd 46/5/0, and I LOVE it! Smite, Mind Blast, Holy Fire, and even Power Word: Shield Reflect... all of these spells have a chance to crit. This item also increases damage and healing by 25. Try finding a better damage AND healing belt.
In Warsong Gulch I put my PW:S up. This shadow Priest hit me with a Mind Blast and I absorbed most of it, and me Shield Reflect returned a crit for 768! Not bad for a passive skill. Good thing I was wearing my Mana Igniting Cord at the time...
We were running Scarlet Strath, and I was wearing my healing gear. I activated my Power Infusion and hit this Rogue with a Greater Heal that crit'd for 4863! Good thing I was wearing my Mana Igniting Cord at the time...
Say what you will, but this item is for ALL cloth wearing classes, not just the damage ones.
Got this belt on my lock a while ago. It pwns much better then t1 or the belt that drops in the coffer. Is even on par with the t2 belt w/o counting the set bonus. This belt is most definetly the best belt a caster can get in MC.
Our guild dropped Lucifron and Mag on our first MC run and this dropped.
I'm gonna get falmed for this cuz you don't know how much i heal, but this is THE BEST belt in the game for paladins.
Take a look at the belt list and look at how many +spellcrit belts there are. Two! One cloth, one leather. The rest of the spellcrit belts are class restricted.
This is so unfair to a class that just got a 25 point talent to add spellcrit. Until blizz makes a plate belt with spellcrit, i'll continue to drool over the MIC.
Shadow priest belt is what this is.
Pallies don't even think about it!

does this item still drop i have been raiding mc for like 4 months and have not seen it drop once
Mana Igniting Cord obviously beats Belt Of The Archmage and Sash Of Whispered Secrets.
Archmage => The Cord has 9 less intellect and 2 more stamina and +25 dmg healing.
Sash Of Whispered Secrets => The Cord has +16 intellect and -5 stamina. +25 dmg is not shadow only (also increases fire for warlocks or healing for priests) and.. Who cares about life regen if it does not work yet?
Maerthorn, lvl 60 Shaman on Burning Blade Eu has this belt... =)
Got mine 2 weeks ago. Made me a happy warlock. Came from garr in my case.
Just got this off garr last night, I was the only one that wanted it. Replaced Dustfeather Sash.
Im a happy priest =)
Dropped 2x times in MC today, Garr and Golemagg. Priest got the first i got the 2nd =D
Belt of the archmage FTW
good for a mage and a priest imo as you do mostly flash heals any crit is welcome especially in MC
Been raiding MC since november and this never dropped, then last week it dropped three times in one clear off Magmadar, Garr, and Golemagg xD
Not that great? Belt of the Archmage? Are you guys crazy? This is the best belt in the game. The extra int on the Belt of the Archmage isn't that much, but +25 damage on a belt is great. This is now actually above the Staff of Dominance on my list of MC stuff I want. Staff of Dominance will only add +17 damage to what I already have, and that's only if I get Spell Power enchanted on it (I already have Ogre Magi with Spell Power). If I get this, I will be up to +290 damage and +5% crit. :)
im trying to get this for ages i have crappy gear and still i have 415 dmg
with this i would get even better with more dmg

This dropped for our casters last night off of Magmadar. Very nice stuff!
This belt is BoP, not BoE. It's a great belt for +dmg... especially since you have the +crit.
If you haven't made it into BWL yet, this is a great belt. Lost it to a mage, a 'lock, and a priest... Got a consolation prize (the arcanist belt) which replaced the Thuzadin Sash (for +dmg), but it's on my MC wishlist. =)
Netherwind is on my BWL wishlist. =o
Got it yesterday night from Garr :D
It replaces the Magister Belt.
in the same run :D
Happy Mage in here :D

Dropped on our 3rd run to MC. Our 'discipline' priest took it. Mages were highly upset. -_-
dropped tonight from Magmadar in MC on Kilrogg. not that great, but hey, new drop =D
warlock belt for sure, and i got it last night! :)
This is NOT the best belt in the game! Compare to the
In my opinion, Netherwind > This. However, this is good for the lazy people out there who buy all their gold and never do any runs ebcause their characters suck... Remember, most people dont like netherwind because its BoP, not BoE. (You can't buy/sell it, must kill for it).
Obviously the best mage belt of the game :) And I own it \o/
you dumb $%^&*!@s dont know what your talking about, best belt in the game for mage, noobchickenrofle.
Just got this last night myself. As a long-time Belt of the Archmage wearer and crafter, I have to say the Cord is far better. For a PvE mage, +dmg is king, far more than +crit. To have both is godlike.
Mages have so many mana regen options available to them, losing a few int is no big deal.
Using Netherwind right now and still wishing for this to drop. Been farming MC since the guild was created two months ago, only one has dropped and it went to another mage because I was working that night. Same mage got the only Choker of the Fire Lord the guild has seen too, for minimum DKP because I wasn't there. -_-
Best fire mage belt in the game until Eyestalk from C'thun IMO.
got this off Mag 2 night ago, unequipped my Belt of the Archmage without a second thought.
got this last night
im a lock btw, accidentally took it from the mage above me on dkp because no one could hear him saying he wanted it
feel bad but he is ok about it, should have typed it in raid the fool
thats some killer +Dmg and with crit chance too for a dps lock like me thats heaven and spirit i dont really care about i mean wats lifetap for, sash of whispered secrets is also cool, id get either tbh but for now felheart will do for me
Got this a few weeks ago over our mages. I honestly think they let me have it. Shadow Priest DPS FTW!
I dunno why people hate on shadow spec priests so much. Out of shadowform, we heal 80-90% as good as a full holy spec priest and when needed, we can unload some DPS like woa.
4/6 priests that raid regularly in my guild are shadow spec, and we're currently making our way through BWL without too much of a problem.
Got it yesterday, 3 other mages with higher dkp passed on it so I was the lucky winner :)
It replaced my Arcanist Belt. But I still keep that one in my bags for the FR.
BiS untill AQ c'thun belt for mages. Also very strong for PVP. Shockingly good item.
My guild have decided to prioritize mages over warlocks when handing out this belt. We consider that warlocks only miss out on +8 intellect (DPS stat) when they recieve
while mages alternative
is a lot worse.
