The first guard in Dire Maul North drops these. He's very easy to farm, and these bracers are some of the better dmg gear you can expect to find until Zul'Gurub. Highly recommended.
What level is recommended for this wing of Dire Maul?
No one comments on alot of the best blue's in the game, it's so strange. This is quite easily the best mage/warlock wrist piece in the game outside of epics.
It completely owns magisters/dreadmist/devout bracers, which almost every person seems to use until they find something epic.
THIS IS A VERY EASY PIECE TO GET. It requires the following.
1) Zone into DM North
2) Kill one Ogre pat
3) Kill Ogre/2dog pat
4) Walk down the first ramp and pull the 4 dogs on the right side.
5) Walk through (avoiding the 3 dog pat), stay to the right, and pull guard Mol'.
6) Pull him back to the entrance, and kill him
It takes all told 7 minutes from start to finish with 3 players (paladin/mage/priest), so I imagine if you found a full 5-man group to help you attain this, you could easily cut each run to 3-5 minutes tops. Even with a 5% drop rate, it won't take you more than a single hour.
Anyway, happy hunting, as unless you're spending DKP on epics or have exalted with a PvP faction, this is as good as it gets.
It's even more simple than that really. Go in. Wait for lone ogre pat, kill him. Have a mage/hunter with a long range pull Mol'dar up to the entrance, rinse, wash, repeat.
Yes it blows my mind how people will wear set pieces over great gear like this, and Im talking about people wearing random set pieces without getting the bonuses. Enough ranting, these will benefit any caster just fine and I recommend the +4mana/5 second enchant instead of a stat enchant for them
dmg gear ftw, i consistantley get shadowbolts of 800+(not counting bonuses from CoS) and i dont even have dmg gear for every slot yet.
Does this still drop since 1.7?
Yes it does.
Got lucky and received it on the 2nd drop, quite nice as we had some trouble with the pulls and the really huge aggro range of those ""$"%@%& dogs...
Been in DM several times and never seen it drop
But last run it dropped from mol'dar and fengus in a row :]
for my priest its a pretty nice item, but where are the spamming hunters in those comments ?
Hunter item jokes are lame, to start.
Anyway - casters should definately have more than one set, and a +damage set is a must. If you don't have one, it's amazing, get one.
However, magister isn't useless - I don't use mine much, but in very long battles where constant damage is necessary, but not in big numbers that'll take damage off the main tank. Magister has huge INT and decent STA, which will help you last the whole way.
So, different armor for different situations will make you a more flexible character, better in any situation. :)
I want these so bad for my mage. I sold them to the vendor back when I thought +12 dmg was crappier than magisters stats. Now I regret it.
The +dmg adds up fast. I have:
+201 dmg with all spells
+64 dmg with fire spells
+48 dmg with spells vs undead
+5% crit, +1% to hit with spells
and no MC drops or anything.
Thats a total of over 300+ vs undead. My fireball minimum dmg is over 1k.
Gotta love running up one of the huge packs in UD Strath, flamestrike, combustion, blast wave, blink, turn around, watch them all fall over dead while the noob pickup group stares at you with their jaws to the floor.
And I dont even have these bracers yet, Im wearing crappy magisters =P
Last night in a non-tribute run of DM North. I now have about 217 in +dmg gear and that's all pre-ZG/MC/whatever. These things are very attainable for the casual player.
So does Mol'dar not drop them anymore? They should just make these a random world drop... I have never heard of a group going through DMN without going for a tribute.
25 kills.. nothing!
They just dropped for me today, so yes, they can still drop. It was probably quite lucky though seeing as how this was the 2nd time I killed him.
Got this yesterday at my first DM North trip (60 Warlock). Dropped from Guard Mol'Dar.
Got mine about a week ago so they still drop.
Since I also got mine today from Guard Mol'dar, I can confirm that these still drops from him.
Yeah these things are pretty sick I must say. Definitely comparable to sorcerer's, I would definitely use these sublime ones over em.
And to all you cocky pre-mc mages talking about your "leet" +200-250 dmg. That is weak sauce homes. I have no zg/mc/bwl gear and have 333 damage +20frost damage. So yeah I own all of you.
Was wearing them until yesterday I got 2 felheart peaces - pants and bracers )
Got them on my first and last non-tribute DM, it started as a tribute but than Blizz decided to reboot servers! so we just killed all in our sight...
They pwn all sets except epics and true - got only belt now from dreadmist - it suxx! got only 3 dreadmist parts because was leveling from 52 to 60 - and than changed them to felcloth gloves and this bracers... no girdle yet - hope to get PVP-faction or felheart one)
Ashmaar 60 lvl
i had a 4 man team farming these, and on the 3rd try i got lucky :)
now its just the other mage who needs them -_-
Got this in my 10th run i guess.. They are awsome and now i got them to my collection of bracers =)
Zandalar Illusionist's Wraps
and these Sublime Wristguards
Confirmed, they droped for me on 12/29/05 good luck!
30 runs no drop :(
10 times so far ...
1 bulky shoulder
2 orge rings
1 fist weap
2 cloth cloaks
1 Mail shoulder
These are the best blue caster braces in the game, also as a warlock, you can solo the pulls before the first guard, and then solo the first guard.
All you have to do is dot kite them around the library. :)
37 Kills on Guard Mol'dar
2x Heliotrope Cloak
4x Denwatcher Shoulders
2x Bulky Iron Spaulders
0x Sublime Wristguards =(
Anyone had one of these drop for them lately?

Any new mage should get this as soon as they can. Compared to the tier 1 and 2 bracers, these are very close. Infact, the tier 2 bracers only offer +3 stam, +3 spirit and +9 intellect while losing 1 damage. The main advantage the tier 1 bracers have over these would be the fire resist and passive mana regen. Tier 2 bracers need an upgrade ASAP. DKP wise, it might be better to get these and save your DKP for better upgrades in other slots until you're geared up.
They're very easy to get as well. You can do it with a 3 man team; tank, healer and yourself. Enter DM North, avoid the patrol and head down the ramp and jump to the right corner alongside the ramp. Kill the dog patrol when it comes then pull the guard to you. Easy as that, reset the instance and keep at it until you get them.
Still wear them. Will replace them with the Bracers of Arcane Accuracy from BWL.
These are the best Bracers pre raid content. After that come the Zandalar ones and then you can only upgrade with raid stuff.
they dont wanna drop for me tho >.<
2019. wow classic. literally did nothing but run this all day today for 10 hours about 50 times and havent seen the sublime wristguards drop off this guy. in total id say im at about 65 runs. have seen everything but the bracers. maybe just bad luck..... starting to think it just doesnt drop off him anymore... that's probably wrong but it's so discouraging seeing every other item off of him multiple times now
i have killed Mol'dar 50+ times now (not exaggerating) and havent seen sublime wristguards drop off him once
Ok. Im Mage and first of all, there's no many option to get quality wrist with damage done before BWL. They are bwe Arcanist Binding from MC (about 1000G on AH), and listed Sublime Wristguards from DM:N. Also there are exelent wrist from Warsong Gulch PVP for very slowly exploiting reputation to exalted. Dont know more from PVP high ranks.
I decided to try some grind Mol'dar solo, because that is quite possible.
Actually i killed Mol'dar 35 times (and few more times with party earlier before DBM intalled). It means that for some cleaning before him i killed 35 times x 6 elite ogres = 210 ogres and 35 times x 7 dogs = 245 dogs.
I dont think that drop rate 5% from this guy is accurate. I get few times plate and mail blue shoulders, about 5-6 times Hedgecutter with drop rate 6%, exactly all above green loot several times. Also desirable quality Heliotrope Cloak with drop rate 6% not drop once. Thats strange if difference between 5%, 6%, 8% can be so big.
I think Cloak and Wrist are really rare items, much rare that others blue loot.
I advise you not to expect that it will be easy loot after several attempts like very others blue loot from bosses.
I got the cloak on 40 run.
I got the wrist finally! When i was already very tired and saw late at night in one eye, i did not count on it at all and it was to be the last attempt of the day. That was a 45 run.
