This is the Dungeon Set 1 (Tier 0) robe designed for Mages.
The only time when spirit comes in handy for a mage is when you evoc, and you only get about 3000 of you oh so great 7000+ mana pool back, whereas those who have a lot of spirit can get 5-6k mana back from the same evocation.
If you ever find yourself having a bad pull, with no mana and 5-6 more mobs on you, then evocation can save the day.
So for PvE, its definitely int / spirit, with as much stamina you can get.
For 1v1 PvP (or similar situations) its int/sta, or sta/int even, as you'll die well before you could use up your mana pool, and you'll never have the time to sit back and wait for natural mana regeneration to kick in.
For mass PvP, it is sta/spi/int in my opinion, as having shorter downtimes for mana regen, and bigger health pool to stand the beating / rogues backstabbing you is much more important.
First off this is supposed to comments on a robe, no? at any rate Stamina and spirit are both important, I've done it all pretty much and I've found HIGH intellect with relatively even spirit/stamina is very good for a mage. Spirit very well could be the difference in life or death as so would stamina. If it's obvious mage armor, use it, blizzard already did the math. and if you think mage items are stupid then change classes cause I pwn with this set.
"Frost = Best Massive Raid PvP There is. (BAD 1v1)
Arcane = Great PvP *if* you have a fully working Raid party that knows there job. (Great 1v1)
Fire = Best 1v1 there is. (Make sure to use 15 talent in arcane talents for Arcane EXP!)"
Frost = Best PvE, especially if you solo. You can kill elites that are 1 level above you. Frost is nice if you like to spend all your mana on Blizzard in Mass-PvP. For everything else its #$%^. You will buy time with all the protection *!@#, but you will kill your opponents much slower too. the least you want to do in PvP is less damage. Frost is very useful vs. rogues and warriors though. they are much easier to kill as frost mage in a 1 on 1. iceblock has to be the most useless high talent that I know for mages. I always laugh at frost mages who do that and still die instantly after 10 secs. only useful when a rogue jumps you and youre in a group, so they can kill the rogue before your block wears off. but a smart rogue will simply vanish and try it again.
Arcane = ultimate PvP talent tree. fire and frost mages will suck extremely against arcane mages.
Fire = Best damage hands down IF you dont get a single resist, which wont happen often in PvP. very nice for PvP, if you magically dont get attacked by rogues a lot, and they will go for you even more if they notice you do so much damage. still sucks vs other casters, because if they resist your crit youre done for.
According to thottbots very reliable faqs, this has 9.5% to drop, which mean, that you will likely, at least, see this drop between 1-11 runs.
I have played ubrs for about 35 times now throughout my life time, and i havent seen this &*!@ drop one singel time. Perhaps blizzard has put some disease or curse on my character, which cuases 0 procentage of drop rate on it when im in the raid, or els, i really have no ide.
People usually get pissed on that someone ninja their set items, but this is far beyond that bull@#$%. if were assuming that this item will drop at my next run, my 36th run, and that it approximately will have to drop as many times as the other magister-items, before i actually got them, ill get this at about my 200th run.
Now, lets assume that each run takes about 1.5-2hours, which makes it between 600-800 hours! between 25-33 days! Just for this crappy item, that i will prabobly exchange for something els when i start Mc/onyxia.
I really dont know if its is worth the trouble. What do you guys think?
I agree on that, we mages sometimes could use the dreadmist-set stats better than the magisters. But ive never seen a mage stealing something form a warlock, who needs it aswell. That warlocks have highest priority on deadmist peices is obvious, and if any mage/priest would roll on it, its obviously a ninja-loot.
But when am asking myself, why is it not obvious for a warlock, that magister pieces in first hand goes to a mage? On the basis of my knowledge, a mage could use a dreadmist piece better than a warlock could use a magister piece, since they dreadmist has a little bit less intellect, and alot more stamina. If a warlock would use to much magister, their health would get totally lowerd, which would suck as hell for a warlock. Well, lets just assume that there are simply a few warlocks who has bad manners.
THAN, lets look on which peices is easiest to get. The drop-rate is approximantely the same for the both sets. In a UBRS/SCHOLO/STRAT party, ive experinced an amount of MAX 1 warlock in the entire raid party. When it comes to the mages, there are several more. In Scholo 2+, in start 2+, and in UBRS 3+. So its pretty clear that magister is harder to get for a mage than the dreadmist is for a warlock.
I have played ubrs 44 times now, and the magister chest has dropped once. That time, a warlock wanted to show he appeciation, and stold it from me(aswell as 2 other mages). I mean, ive lost enough time in my life doing this &*!@, and when the chest drops, it gets ninjad. That really feels to hell. And im so tried of all excuses ive heard throguh my life time. One of them is "?. what?. OOOOHHHH, #$%^, I am so sorry! I accidently pressed need...blablabla". Than people are supposed to feel sorry for them, for getting ninja accused for a misstake that they didnt perform on perpose. Another excuse is "Ohh.. i didnt know this was a mage-set! (And this after wearing some felheart-peices)Im so sorry! blabla. And than, people are once again supposed to feel sorry for them. BAH! why is none feeling sorry for a mage who have spent over 300 hours on this @#$%, whitout any result yet.
Twisted poeple really starts to intrigue me. Is it only becuase of the selfi@#$%y, or are there another reasons? I really have no idea.
Blizzard should invite an "highest priority need-button". Dont think any mage would complain about it. And as far as i know, there are more than 100% more mages on every server than warlocks.
Bah, enough writting, going outside for a smoke now.
I think that blizzard is assuming that every player, originally, is rightoues, and respect other players time asmuch as they want their own time to be respected.
Unfortunately, this is not the todays case on the WorldOfWarcraft realms.
Looks like the robe is dropping again in UBRS. Saw it drop the last 2 times, and I finally got one the 2nd time.
Doesn't seem like drops like these are really to random. They drop the same item for a while and then go on to the next.
Maybe it changes with the patch? Just a thought.
As much as you all think that it's for a specific class, meaning dreadmist, magisters, and devout (as I do myself), there are no class restrictions on the items. I hate to say it, but any class could wear these things. I myself rolled on Devout Robe when it dropped, ONLY after making sure the priests didn't need it. It was an upgrade for myself and it worked out great.
Magister's Bindings drop from Rage Talon Fire Tongue in Blackrock Spire..
Look, guys. The stats you need to focus on depend on...
A) What you are fighting
B) How you fight
C) Who's helping you
D) Who's helping your target
(That's not in any particular order.)
For example, if you like PvP alot, but die before you can use even half of your mana, go for some more stamina. However if you run out of mana too quickly, go for more intellect. If you find yourself with long times to wait and regen mana and health, you can either go spirit, or you can conjure some food or water (if you're a mage.) If you like to magebomb, agility can help alot (but not as much as sucking up to your local priest!) It all depends on what your current biggest problem is. There is no SET ORDER OF STAT IMPORTANCE for any class. There are some pretty smart ones to keep in mind, but you have to go by what your problems are.
And as for the drop rate... Find a good guild, get them to like you, and have them help you out. Make sure you help them out too, you greedy fool =P KILLTROCITY FOR LIFE! (mal'ganis server)
I have ran UBRS in full to drakk 20 times...not including failed attempts...Never once have I seen magister's and this being my last piece, I am simply terrified to go on a UBRS run with another mage.
Consider yourself lucky anyone who got this before their 10th run...all you others...just consider it normal.
Quit talking about that you finally got them and put some information about where and who dropped them. That is what these forums are about. Now that we have 1.10 patch we need to know what these items are coming off of.
Drakk still drops them after 1.10
I managed to get them on my first ever run in ubrs (lucky me)
can anyone post a picture of s.o. wearing this robe?
After 33 times of painful UBRS run, I finally got mine! It takes all the stress out of me :D yupieee! I still have head piece and leggings to go. But now that I got the robe i can take it easy ... muahahah
Key is the PATIENT. I didn't give up until i get it.
WOOT! FINALLY! 27 UBRS runs and this baby drops. Was so happy. I had 7/8 Magisters and had been trying for the robes for 2 1/2 weeks. Awesome stats too! :D
Well.. yeah... second ubrs run, and it drops for my mage. Lucky me, i was the only mage in the raid :D
So it finally ends up as it always ends up..... the lock rolls it.
... well, I would have been pissed off really bad if i did not already had the robe of the archmage equipped. Still... set would have been nice.
To all the locks out there... stick with the dreadmist, would ya
thats unlucky mate. cant believe the group let the warlock roll without asking if you needed it first. normally my runs allow priority to the class in which thechestpiece drops. since it is a mage set AND from the new patches its used to trade in for your sorcerer's robe i would have thought you got priority for it. :(
all the best of luck for your next run and hope your raidmates are more understanding ^^
i've taken down drakk 29 times so far, and you guys know that 30-40% of PUG UBRS runs don't end in drakk dropping, and i still haven't even seen them drop!
i'm so tired of waiting on this armor. If you got it in your 5th run, you are SO lucky! i've been in UBRS like 50 times probably, and i still cant get this stupid robe.
I hate to say this, but I got this on my very first run. I ran this many times will my main to get his Hunter's chest to drop, but I randomly PUGed this last night and it dropped. Even more lucky as I was only mage in party. Lucky, lucky alt as the pants droped from Baron on my second run...
Will still be running it again though, got help out some fellow mages!
Brimmstone 60 Mage - Dreanor FTW
i've done ubrs once, i was lv 58 and got the robe on my first run...
(you can call me a lucky bastard, but keep in mind that i have ran scholo too many times wothout getting that mantle...)
I Did UBRS for the 1st time and the Robe dropped luckly i was the only Mage in the raid :D
Ran UBRS for the first time today. ONLY mage in the group and it dropped off last boss. A WARLOCK needed on this and won. Couldn't believe it. No words from the warlock just promptly left the group after i questioned him about it. PUG's SUCK!
Same as above, ran UBRS today and it dropped, I was the only mage in the group and personnally asked everyone to let me have it (which is fair of course, magister=mage). However the priest rolled need against me and won the robes, then left the group and HSed. I was very angry, stick with your own classes Tier 0 ffs.
Have you all not heard of MASTER LOOT? Ive never do UBRS without a lead Master Looter on all boss drops...Main class gets first choice to roll if no mages need it then anyone else that it would BENIFIT (not a hunter btw) then no locks or priests want it then D/E and roll for shard...Hello its that simple. I wouldnt run UBRS with a pug anyway unless we were all lvl 70 and knew each other and hell who would want it then ROFL but then again i just rerolled a mage after BC and i want all my tier sets....I know everyone says im crazy but a few ppl...OH WELL I love AZEROTH and I think you all should come back once in awhile and pwn in the old school stuff and have fun :)
now im dun with yellin at the priests, its the mages' turn.
do warlocks roll on this armor because they can use the extra fire damage?
i didnt think so.
SO WHY THE F****** HELL DO U ROLL ON OUR DREADMIST ARMOR FOR THE SAME THING?
rolling on the dreadmist armor for a little extra fire damage when u have this set available is worse than when shadow priests roll on dreadmist for extra shadow damage when they have the devout set available! it also shows how much of a friggin idiot when u prefer extra fire damage and no other useful stat increases to extra fire damage and a whole lot of useful stats for a mage.
leave our dreadmist armor alone, or u will get ur ass kicked by locks all over WoW!
I play a priest and I have to say the Devout-set
is imho crappy... Ok the only good thing about is +44 healing but what use is that when you are shadow ? +21 spirit, right thats is where you have you mana potions!
I'm far more interested in the magister set because of his lovely int. stats More int. means more mana, more mana means more spells and a chance to crit. It is just so hard to explain it to your raid party that you prefer the magister set. You get the stuff like "You are a Priest WEAR DEVOUT" I know that is the general opinion about things but aren't we all free to choose the way how we would like to build our char?
Sigh... sorry just needed to get this of my chest ;)
this is a pic of the new armor set for mage coming in 1.10. upgrade from magister.

Not all parts of this apply to the topics in these threads, but read it anyway.
Dreadmist is a dungeon set, not a tier set(you warlocks are posting in the tier one armor set forums). DEVOUT is the priest dungeon set. Get your facts straight instead of sitting on your lazy bums and complaining.
ALL TIER ONE/TWO/THREE ARMOR SETS are indeed CLASS SPECIFIC.
Any guild will screw you up for that. DONT ROLL ON TIER ARMOR SETS.
Allakhazam may be a nice site, but not everything is correct. This is why they update every couple days. Thus the reason why some tier one/two/three sets do not show up in class specific.
DUNGEON SETS ARE NOT CLASS SPECIFIC!
Dont be idiots and roll agaisnt a warlock=dreadmist who needs the set. SAME for mages=magister and priests=devout. You wont get the upgrade that the actual class would get (dungeon set two). And you give THEM the right to roll agianst you, so dont complain about warlocks/mages/priests rolling against you for your own armor sets when you are doing the same thing to them.
I AM A PRIEST and HATE to hurt others by rolling agianst other classes, so dont attempt to twist this. Some of you are sitting on your lazy bums and believe every single thing that Allakhazam says. Not a good move.
Blizzard created those sets for those classes (SET BONUSES CONFIRM IT), they are intended for that class BUT they are not class specific. My point: Warlocks get the priority on Dreadmist, Mages get the priority on Magister, Priests get the priority on Devout. BUT if there is the rare case that no warlock/mage, warlock/priest, mage/priest are not in the group, then by all means roll. But you are idiots if you roll on something that gives set bonuses you dont need, especially if there IS a player that needs it. ( does not apply to shadow priests but still warlock priority)
CHECK THE LINK! It will tell you the true facts and which class/set they are MEANT for AND this link is from Blizzard. It's correct.
took me 68 runs but i just got them today .....
ahh they are comfy ^_^ maybe use them as PJs too ^_^... yeah that's right 68 runs better believe i'm gonna sleep in them!
Taken by yours truly, model is Kaledin. Many thanks to Kaledin for stoping and posing for me.
Just wanted you to know I did my first UBRS run tonight and boom there it was and I was the only mage out of the 15 so of course they're on me now and I love it
A night elf wearing a piece of a set that only a mage could make the most out of.It's like giving a ferrari to a ringtail ferret.
any1 got a pic of a gnome with them on i want to see,
lol 13 mage blackrock
These robes are great.
hahaha AstralEnmar, those arent magisters boots what he is wearing :)
That's the ugliest troll I've ever seen.
ive done like 40+ runs for this, seen it ONCE and lost the roll, im giving up
Here is another picture of it on a human female. It's the full set, boots and all.
Full Magister's Regalia
When I was a mage on Laughing Skull, a priest rolled against me for this and won... He kept arguing against me saying it DOESNT SAY FOR MAGES ONLY
You're an idiot. Devout is terrible for shadow priests. If a DPS priest wants to roll against a warlock for Tier 0, then so be it.
Don't be a narrow player who stutters in raids because you can't see the value of hybrid classes with crappy itemization. Learn to live with it.
Dropped today (1 Mar); General Drakkisath did drop the Magister's Robes after the server reset for scheduled maint. on the Khadgar server:
Only item I have out of the 8 regalia but the bracer also dropped earlier in the instance off I believe the pyroguard but im not positive.
Thanks to Skyshadow and the rest of the crew who were around grinding out gems for the key so we could get to this guy. We have gotten him about 4 or 5 times now other drops were Wildheart Vest, Breastplate of Valor and I cant remember the others.
Oh Ya and the grafics on it are cool too lol
I got fairly lucky.... this dropped on my first run, I won the roll vs 1 other mage.
And I got eye of beast.
And I got BWL entrance.
feel free to hate me :)
I have been to UBRS on about 50 runs to get this robe. It dropped once, and I had to roll against 3 other mages. Luckily one of my guildies won it instead of an outsider. It has'nt dropped since. I had a friend who got it on his first try, and another who got it on his 10th try. It's % to drop isn't the highest, but you would think that you would see it more. To my suprise I have seen the Valor drop far more than the Magisters. I have 5 pieces of the set. I'm missing the robes, boots, and the crown. I had a priest roll against me on the boots. I got disconnected when the crown dropped, and could'nt roll. I'm just very unlucky when it comes to rolling on this. Not to mention that the Royal Tribunal Cloak dropped in stratholme finnaly, and 2 retared Shaman's took it upon themselves to roll for it also. I don't understand people sometimes. As far as it goes for a priest rolling on this robe. I think they should only roll if there is no mage present who does'nt need it. We would'nt roll on your devout robe. If there is no mage present than I would agree that it's fair game. I know I would roll on teh Dreadmist Robe if no warlocks were there, and I would expect a priest to do the same.
That is no full magister set AstraldEmnar, THIS is a full magister set :P
Hey don't forget that the royal tribunal cloak matches with the rest of the set and has some beautiful stats.
Anyways, bout to start running UBRS for the robe, and I was wondering how much of a pain in the ass was this for you guys to get? Especially considering that this is the hardest instance to complete because it requires 15 people to have their !@#$ together.
Im not so sure hey... im a straight man and I cant see myself wearing this, but its not like there is an alternative :/
The reason it's not good to have a full Magister's set if you are a priest is because of the +fire, arc, and frost bonuses you will get. Plus, at 60 you probably shouldn't be shadow specced, you should be holy specced. But its up to you. Of course, intsead of getting magisters and having the set bonuses being useless to you, you could just grab all badass blue items and not wear a set. Get a Mooncloth Robe with +100 to mana, Royal tribunal, etc. Who's to say that you have to have set items at all?
