Would like to comment this since someone previous mentioned this fabulous weapon.
Bone Slicing Hatchet as a tank weapon is the best blue/superior weapon you can find. It gives some stamina boost, and also about 1% extra crit chance, some minor armor bonus also due to the extra agility.
The speed, 1.70 makes it ideal because you build rage very fast, and can do your best move:Sunder Armor very quick.
Slow weapons for tanks are mostly not good to have.
Maybe if you meet a heavy armored dragon, then maybe a slow high damage weapon is to be prefered, but then, a tank is not a damage dealer, he/she is the damage taker!
Roll on this for high damage 1h weapon dealing.
Reygamba - Horde Undead on Stormscale EU
I'd just like to say
I have this for my 60 Shammy with Icy Enchant
you guys are all like "blah blah blah dps, it matters."
Might i ahve to remind you that world of warcraft is for fun? You guys were agruing about this being a tanking item. People care if its good, sure. But if its fun, and ur having fun, lighten up shesh.
Man, does anyone read up on how aggro works. Besides the extra aggro bonus for using ability's like sunder, revenge and some points in defiance, u definately need dps.
Another player takes aggro from u being melee doing damage at 110% of the warriors damage an ranged players at 130% of the damage dealt by warriors.
It's like this, the more damage a warrior does on a mob, the more the other players can...
That's basic aggro stuff.
I have to say this has gotten heated. If you know how to tank then Thrash Blade is fine until level 60. I have run UBRS as MT using Thrash Blade and crappy Agis of Stormwind and I did just fine at keeping aggro. I finaly had an Annihilator made and got a Draconian Deflector after those 30 plus runs but I had no problems Main Tanking with the above mentioned equipment before that.
This axe dropped on me in Scholo. It looks cool, but the *overwhelming majority* of warrior aggro comes from sunder, revenge and other skills -- not from damage. It's not worth giving up stats to get a couple more DPS. Especially when a weapon with +str adds DPS anyway. Sure, you can slap a +str enchant on this, but like I said -- skills, not damage. Don't waste the money or mats on +str to 1h, unless your a dual wield Fury warrior. Even then, there are much better enchants out there.
It's just not that great of a weapon compared to what else drops in Scholo and Strat. Plus, there's a quest in Scholo that earns you Mirah's Song.
quest chain starts here:
The quest rewards are not listed on Thott, but they're linked in the comments section here:
is almost NO part of tank agro. as mentioned before, i am almost always MT in any PuG i go on, and as such i hold agro on two mobs minimum at any given time. however, on the damagemeters side, i'm always, without fail (okay just once but the group sucked)4th out of 5 or 9th out of 10 on damage, only ahead of the healer. i still seem to hold agro though. ya see, damage is only for making Rage, which turns into a sunder, or a revenge, or a heroic strike, which makes agro. no warrior can hold agro just by DPSing, cause a rogue or mage or even a shammy does more DPS easily.
you can try to use "damage" to tank, or you could just let the priest keep agro just from heals..
In ZG or MC you dont just stuff around and hope you piss off hakkar enough that he will stay on you the whole fight.
Hakkar is an excellent lesson in creating threat. He is un-tauntable. You have to sunder, revenge, sheild bash, demo shout, and heroic strike from the go. I've tryed tanking him with:
-2.30speed, 36.5dps axe (No stats
-2.60speed, 39.5dps sword (No stats)?
-1.90speed, 35.0dps axe (+4aAgil, +11Stamina)48
Since the +4Agil and +11Stamina gives the 1.90axe an advantage, i changed some gear around so i had 1 less Stamina and 1 more Agility using the axe over the 2 swords.
The 2.60sword is IMPOSSIBLE to generate rage with.
The 2.30axe is better, but not ideal.
And the 1.90axe is perfect. And it has a good deal dps less then the other weapons.
You dont have to be a warrior, or know anything about threat to realise that
A) Thunderfury (1.90speed)
B) Bloodlord's Defender (1.90speed)
C) Quel'Serrar (2.00speed)
are all similar speeds for a reason, they are great tanking weapons. not because of dps, because of speed.
...this is a FANTASTIC PvP weapon. Slap Icy Chill on it, works for me!
impressive weapon..whish it gave + stamina and +strength, i would put crusader on it if it did, otehr than that not worth puting crusader on, will most likly last u a week or 2 depending on how much u play and what u do, acceptable for tanking
defo needs an enchant for ice damage cause 1 - 5 dont cut it for me :P
This just says adds 1-5 Frost damage. Does that mean an enemy is slowed down (movement and/or attack speed)? I say this cause Frost stuff normally does affect it, but typically it's stated specifically so I'm thinking this just gives a nice'n frosty dmg bonus. Anyone willing to answer?
BTW- Procs are overrated in my opinion. I always prefer a consistent stat bonus than something that only pops up every once in a while.
Wish I could get one to drop, Ras drops the shield everytime. :(
This dropped for me (warrior) and I greed rolled it.
I'm using Timeworn Mace for tanking.
Sure it has that little bit of frost damage and a little more DPS, but there's no stats.
Don't understand why hunters would want this for the same reason.
I GOT MINE TONIGHT.....yay, and i got a silent fang in the same run LOL, funny huh?
I love the patch, allows more leniant loot rules, people are much kooler about drops now

rofl how did you manage to put a troll texture on a tauren?
where to get the matching pink slippers/hoof warmers?
I got this axe last night and thought it would be cool to put an icy weap chant on it (had all the mats and it just seemed fitting for the weap) and it was cool for awhile... then i noticed i wasn't getting a message in my combat log about frost damage on attack (from the weapon itself, not the weapon enchant). I assumed it would have my normal white damage, yellow holy damage (seal of righteousness), and then a small bit of frost damage and maybe the enchant proc. I wasn't seeing any frost damage but the axe was hitting a good it harder than my nearly same speed 1 hand healing mace (Simone's Cultivating Hammer). How is this frost damage calculated in the weapon damage? Is a random 1 to 5 damage just added to the top and bottom end damage? If so, is it done before str and +attack power gear is factored in?
Any info on this would be greatly appreciated.

The weird thing is, my guild is farming these for ouro. There's a phase in that fight where you need to deal ice/frost damage to him.
Hence why we are farming these axes.
It's actually kind of annoying but I read that the ouro fight itself is quite fun so that may make up for it.
same graphic as the annihilator...-.- shame on u blizz!
I am single handedly making this drop % go down. 30runs, and not yet.
But i want it so bad...
This axe is sweet! Got mine yesterday from Ras Frostwhisper. Pretty nice for tanking!
got this, ancient bone bow, magisters belt, thorium box, vigorsteel vambraces, and helm of valor...all in my first run GGthx
got this last night along with the ace and 5 of warlords the ancient bone bow, windreaver greaves and a bunch of scourgestones, happy me, got +15 on the axe ( why cuz its my melee weapon and not my ranged stats weapon) and my alts a major DEing machine BTW had the mats already, dont buy the mats from the AH, make those overpricing noobs learn, make a lvl 1 alt and just DE the crap out of stuff send what you dont need to the guild and keep what you might like i did. It would of costed me over 100G for this chant if i bought the mats from the AH. God im smart. AND NO ITS NOT THE BEST AXE BUT ITS WHAT I GOT
That's the texture for Troll feet.
hmm have taken scholo three times dropped very time :P have gotten one
Wish I could get one to drop, Ras drops the shield everytime. :(

Pretty much all of these types of weapons don't do any additional frost damage or other school of damage, only physical. I've tested this multiple times in prep for
, I did have the frost bolt proc weapons prior to that and they work fine.
This means you don't get frost dmg added to a weapon that states it does additional frost damage.
I do remember a bug back in Wotlk with an axe from Storm Peaks rep that caused multiple embue's to proc twice which these weapons may of been effected during the hotfix during 3.0.3
item: brunnhildar axe
These are the weapons i've tested so far with no additional frost damage outside of the proc itself there's no base +5 frost damage.
"We wanted to take a moment to clarify that the extra elemental damage from weapons such as
are behaving as expected in WoW Classic and do not actually cause additional non-physical damage to the target. They do however still inflict extra damage in the amount specified in the tooltips. This is not noted in the combat log separately and is simply calculated as additional physical damage added to the weapon’s attack.
That being said, it has been noticed by players that when using an elemental barrier such as a nature/frost/fire protection potion or a shield that absorbs a specific element, you will see an “absorbed (X)” message in the combat log. This is also correct and working as expected, and such effects will reduce the damage of attacks by such weapons by the amount of extra elemental damage specified in the weapon tooltip.
Ultimately the way these weapons function is a very old quirk/bug with how original World of Warcraft was built. While definitely strange and unintuitive, these weapons are behaving exactly as they did in the original game and we have no intention of changing them to behave differently in WoW Classic.
I hope this helps provide some clarity around this very odd quirk inherent to these types of weapons!"
