consider it the price of convenience...

30sp for the plan (if its even in stock)
30sp (roughly) for a return trip to BB from IF
20-30sp in repair costs from being ganked multiple times

you got yourself a decent deal with no mess or fuss

Also, if you get ganked your equipment doesn't lose durability, so there's no cost there.

NEVER buy a white schematic from the AH, unless it's very cheap.

I'd rather spend gold and have it now, return to grinding and make more money in the same amount of time one would travel to and from such a shop... it's also possible during grinding that one could find an epic world drop. I have yet to have that happen to me while flying about.

Its so true... I hate getting to hard to get to vendors and finding them empty, or worse... with double plans of what you already know to rub it in. :)

Here's additional info for those trying to get to these NPC's.

As you can see by the image posted, the Orge Mound is north of where the Engineering NPC's are located.
You might encounter a few lvl37 Gorillas while on your way to this location. Just head toward the ridge and run along the ridgeline til you find an opening that will take you to them.

Start due west of the spot, from the road that you take from Booty Bay and pick your way along the edge of the camp.

I don't know WHY WoW tucks some of these guys off in the hills. Same thing in the hinterlands.

But being a rogue - I was able to stealth and finally find the way up.

Thank goodness BOTH recipes were available!

The vendor in Burning Steppes is very easy to reach, even at level 1!

Just go north from Lakeshire into Burning Steppes. Get killed (very easy, and cheap if you left your gear at the bank). Rez at grave yard. Talk to vendor inside the cave next to the gy. Hearthstone.

While you're here you might want to corpse jump into Searing Gorge (through Blackrock Mountain) for no additional cost. Having the SG flight point saves you some trouble later in the game. The FP in SG is next to the grave yard.
