One of the main changes The Burning Crusade brings to World of Warcraft is its PvP structures. Unlike Classic WoW, that had all its PvP based on a single system, The Burning Crusade spread PvP into different systems, reducing the barrier of entry and amount of time required to progress in the systems in general.
Brief Overview of TBC PvP
The Burning Crusade introduces and lays the foundation of many systems that veteran WoW players recognize. The main one is the Arena System, which works hand-in-hand with the Honor System to help players acquire gear.
Throughout The Burning Crusade, Honor Points are used to acquire entry-level PvP gear and PvP gear from previous Seasons as the game progresses. While Arena Points are used to acquire better PvP gear from the current and previous Seasons. You can see clear parallels from this system in modern WoW, as they are the inspiration for retail's Honor and Conquest points system.

Notes
Both Honor points and Arena Points do not decay. You can save your points for as long as you like up to the point cap.
You must be at least level 10 to enter Warsong Gulch, 20 for Arathi Basin, 51 for Alterac Valley, and 61 for Eye of the Storm. The minimum level for Arena combat is 70.
World PvP can be accessed in any contested area in the game world. Battlegrounds and Arenas are accessed through special NPCs found mainly in capital cities.
The majority of the best PvP rewards are Arena rewards, but there are many epic rewards purchased with Honor as well.
Warsong Gulch, Alterac Valley, and Arathi Basin offer special rewards starting at levels under 70.
Team size varies by battleground, and Arena Teams are divided into brackets depending on their size.
Only the Arena team's founding member has to pay the startup fee, which varies depending on the size of the team.
Honor System
The Burning Crusade Honor System is similar to the Honor System existing in Classic, where players gain honor based on diverse PvP activities completed, from World PvP to Battlegrounds. The difference now is that instead of unlocking purchaseable gear based on your ranking, you now spend your Honor Points to buy gear.
The gear available for purchase varies depending on what content is avaialble, but it is intended to cover the entry PvP gear, allowing players to gear characters without stepping into Arenas.
Arena System
The Arena System is the main way to gear in The Burning Crusade. Arenas are instanced PvP scenarios where teams of 2, 3, or 5 players face eachother until one team is completely defeated. To participate in an Arena Match, players must be part of an Arena Team. Each Arena Team has a rating attached to it, shared by all players in the team.
Arena Rating
Each team has a Team Rating. This rating reflects how well your team is doing in the Arena System; the higher your rating, the better. When you queue up for a fight, the matchmaking system uses your rating to find a suitable match. Every time your team wins a match, your rating goes up, and every time you lose a match, your rating goes down. The amount by which your rating changes depends on your team's rating compared to the other team's rating – if you win against a higher ranked team, your rating will improve more than if you steamrolled a weaker team. Similarly, losing against a weaker team will hurt your rating more than losing against superior enemies. The exact formulae are a bit more complicated than that, but the basic idea is similar to the Elo ranking system used for professional chess.
At the end of each week, your Team Rating is used to calculate how many Arena Points your team will receive for the week. Your team must have fought a minimum of ten matches per week to be rewarded with Arena Points, and a player must have been in at least 30% of all your matches to be eligible for that week's points. It is important to note that the points you receive in a given week is determined by only one team, and not from a combination of all your teams. Whichever team you are a member of that would receive the most points after accounting for Team Rating and team type becomes the sole source for your points for that week.
The transformation from your Team Rating to Arena Points starts off as a linear function, but once you go beyond a certain rating threshold, the function becomes logarithmic. This means that you will see a significant payoff increase once your Team Rating goes beyond a certain point, but the high-end spectrum of the ratings will eventually notice a decrease in how much bang they get for their buck. In addition, 2v2 and 3v3 teams are subject to a handicap where they receive less points than a 5v5 team with the same Team Rating.
Arena Gear
One of the defining features for PvP in World of Warcraft: Burning Crusade Classic is the tier sets. These class specific items match aesthetically and provide powerful bonuses to your character when worn together.
Season 1 Arena Sets
are the first PvP tier that can be acquired for Burning Crusade Classic PvP.

Arena Special Rewards
One very cool aspect of the Arena System is the introduction of seasons. Each season lasts several months, and at the end of a season, the top ranked teams are rewarded with some unique prizes such as special mounts, titles, or anything else the season's promoters deem worthy of the best gladiators.
The top 0.1% of Arena teams in each region will receive a Swift Nether Drake at the conclusion of the Arena season and a permanent Gladiator title based on each Season. This awesome mount travels faster than most normal epic mounts at 310% flight speed!
Besides mounts, at the conclusion of each season, members of highly-ranked teams receive special titles to honor their achievements:
Season Gladiator (Top 0.1%)
Gladiator (Top 0.5%)
Duelist (Top 0.5% - 3%)
Rival (Top 3% - 10%)
Challenger (Top 10 - 35%)
These titles last until the end of the following season, at which time they are removed and redistributed to that season's top teams. Reaching Season Gladiator awards players with a permanent title, depending on the Season. Season 1 awards players with the
Infernal Gladiator
title.
Arena Gear Catch-Up
The start of every Arena season is accompanied by an all-new set of Arena rewards that are slightly more powerful than those of the previous season. For example, at the start of Arena Season 2, new Arena Season 2 rewards became available for purchase from the Arena vendors. Those who had arena points saved up at the beginning of the season could have purchased some of the new items right away. The previous season's items are still available to purchase at a slight discount. For the onset of Arena Season 3, Season 1's rewards are purchasable with honor points instead of arena points.
Open-World PvP Objectives
Scattered throughout Outland will be areas of strategic importance to both factions. Controlling these areas will often provide tangible benefit to those who fight for their faction in the form of zone-wide buffs. There will also be plenty of material incentives to join in these conflicts – powerful weapons, armor, jewels, and recipes are among the rewards that will go to the valorous.
Hellfire Peninsula
World PvP in Hellfire Peninsula is centered around three primary areas: The Overlook, The Stadium, and Broken Hill. All three locations are just west of Hellfire Citadel in the center of the zone. The objective of each faction is to control as many towers as possible, as the side that controls all the locations receives a zone-wide buff of 5% increased damage. This buff applies to everyone of the controlling faction presently in both Hellfire Peninsula and the instances of Hellfire Citadel.
As you defeat players of the opposite faction, you will receive Marks of Thrallmar or Honor Hold. These marks are the currency for the Hellfire Peninsula PVP rewards. You may redeem your Marks for these rewards from your quartermaster NPC in Thrallmar or Honor Hold.
Zangarmarsh
Zangarmarsh's serene pools and streams, and the soft phosphorescent glow emanating from the native flora and fauna, combine to create a soothing atmosphere – a perfect contrast to the epic battles soon to rage there. In their war efforts, both factions seek to control the Draenei structures known as Twin Spire Ruins for their strategic importance within the region. Twin Spire Ruins are comprised of three buildings which are located on the southern shores of Serpent Lake. The area within and around Twin Spire Ruins is designated as another World PvP zone in which Horde and Alliance players will fight over its control. In order to occupy the area, one side must capture the two beacons on the east and west sides, and then bring their flag to the center tower. Once the tower is under your control, the graveyard at Twin Spire Ruins will be usable by your faction's side, a zone wide buff will benefit your faction, and you will be able to purchase token-based rewards from special NPCs.
When one side has successfully captured the center tower, they will gain access to the graveyard at Twin Spire Ruins. Additionally, all players of the controlling faction will get a zone wide +5% damage buff. All honorable kills that take place within the sub-zone Twin Spire Ruins, will be rewarded with a single token for the appropriate faction. In turn, these tokens may be turned in to the Field Scouts for special items. These are the same tokens that are earned in Hellfire Peninsula World PvP (Marks of Thrallmar and Marks of Honor Hold), so they can be redeemed in both locations for rewards.
Terrokar Forest
Just south of the rebuilt sanctuary of Shattrath City is the ruined, blasted expanse called the Bone Wastes. This area will be the setting for the world PvP in Terokkar Forest. There are 5 shattered towers surrounding the ruins of Auchindoun which can be captured in a way similar to the Hellfire Peninsula process described above. The towers' close proximity to the towns of Stonebreaker Hold (Horde) and Allerian Stronghold (Alliance) in combination with the two towns proximity to each other, will make this region's combat lively to say the least.
The faction that is able to successfully control all 5 towers will be granted a zonewide buff called Blessing of Auchindoun, which increases XP gain by +5%, damage by 5%, and allows for the capturing of Spirit Shards within Auchindoun. Spirit Shards are a 100% drop off of boss monsters within the 4 wings of Auchindoun, and each player can loot their own shard from the boss. These shards can be turned in at Spirit Sage NPCs in Allerian Stronghold and Stonebreaker Hold for PvP based rewards, including valuable Meta Gems.
TBC Meta Gems
Nagrand
The deceptively quiet near the unassuming town of Halaa, and the air is charged with nervous anticipation – like the calm before the storm. The contested city is of key strategic importance for both factions in their efforts to gain a foothold in Outland. As a result, Halaa is sure to change hands many times over the course of their struggle. The effort and focus needed to capture the city will only be matched by what it will take to subsequently hold the city from invasion. However, the occupying faction will gain a substantial benefit in the form of help from powerful NPC guards, as well as access to vendor NPCs who will offer a selection of purchasable rewards. The currency to purchase these rewards will primarily consist of tokens earned from defeating enemy players in the Halaa region.
Battlegrounds
On top of the existing maps of Warsong Gulch, Arathi Basin, and Alterac Valley, The Burning Crusade adds a new battleground: Eye of the Storm.
Eye of the Storm is an exciting new Battleground located in the Outland zone of Netherstorm that combines capture-and-hold style gameplay with capture-the-flag. The game pits up to 15 high-level Alliance members against 15 Horde counterparts in a battle over two floating land masses. These aerial islands are connected by three bridges. Additionally, four towers overlook the battlefield and serve as focal points for the skirmish, while a single, capturable flag spawns in the center of the map for the teams to fight over.
Horde and Alliance teams of up to 15 players compete to control the four towers spread throughout Eye of the Storm and capture flags.
Each claimed tower generates victory points for the controlling team. The more towers your team owns, the faster your team gains points.
The first team that gains 2,000 victory points wins the match.
Players also earn points for their faction by capturing and returning a flag, located in the middle of the map, to a tower controlled by their faction.
Both the winning and losing team earn honor after completing an Eye of the Storm Battleground, as accumulated victory points translate directly into bonus honor for players. Even if you don't win the Battleground, you earn honor from earned victory points.
As players compete, they will earn Eye of the Storm marks of honor, which are used as a portion of the purchase price for various honor rewards.
Unlike other battlegrounds, The Eye of the Storm does not have an actual entrance portal connecting it to the outside world. The only way to enter this battleground is to speak with an Eye of the Storm Battlemaster in one of the major cities.
PvP Itemization
Unlike Classic, gear obtained through PvP in The Burning Crusade has a new stat called
Resilience
.
Resilience is a new defensive stat that has the following effects:
Reduces critical strike chance against you
Reduces critical strike damage against you
Reduces damage over time effects' damage against you
Reduces the magnitude of mana drain effects against you
With its addition, if you aren't using PvP gear in PvP situations, you will be prone to take way more damage as if you were using PvP gear.

Just a lil update. The cost of the blue honor gear (5 piece set) is cut in half in phase 2. You can also get similar items from various outland factions, but it won't be as good.
