About the Author
My name is Guiltyas, I'm currently raiding in Pure-Turalyon, where I joined towards the end of BFA. I've played Feral Druid since Wrath of the Lich King when I first picked it up as a main spec, since then I've engaged in almost all aspects of the game, from RBGs, to Challenge Modes, to Arena's, and of course to fairly high end raiding (around world 100 at the moment).
I've been an active and enthusiastic member of the feral druid community since discord heralded a new era of engagement among spec communities, I'm fairly well respected as a source of information and back that up with a long record of high end feral performance, I've claimed multiple rank 1's across different fights in different raid tiers, I've obtained Gladiator in the past (legion season 1), and now have a long history of providing information and help about about Feral Druid.
I'm enormously enthusiast about the spec and you can find me talking about Feral (passionately) in a few different places,
Twitter
, my
stream
, and of course the
Dreamgrove Discord
!
I enjoy walks on the beach and this is really what makes me reliable on the subject of Ferals! I do not own a cat :( but do appreciate them.
9.1 Changes to Necrolord for Feral Druid
All existing Soulbinds now have 4 new rows: 3 new Conduit slots (1 Potency, 1 Endurance and 1 Finesse), 2 new Traits, and 1 Capstone Trait.
In addition all covenant's gain an Exclusive Legendary, for Feral this legendary is:
NEW Necrolord Legendary
:
has a 60% chance to split into two Swarms each time it jumps.
Necrolord Feral Druid Covenant Abilities
Necrolord Druid Class Ability:
The Necrolord Class ability for druids is
. This is a DOT that deals damage and also increases the damage of periodic effects. It's a pretty simple ability without a whole lot of complexity on the surface, though there is some complexity around maximizing uptime on the dot in single target.
Cast
resulting in 3 stacks on the enemy.
It bounces back to allies resulting in 2 stacks on yourself and then back to the enemy at 1 stack.
Refresh
at pandemic, resulting in 4 stacks on the enemy.
It bounces back to allies resulting in 3 stacks, and then back to enemy at 2 stacks.
Refresh it at pandemic bumping it up to 5 stacks on enemy.
Here's where it starts to differ.
It jumps to ally at 4, back to enemy at 3.
When it jumps back to ally at 2 here, cast
on the enemy, the buff on the ally should then jump back to the enemy refreshing it.
After this point you will cast it on enemy whenever it has jumped back to ally.
(NB: I refer to pandemic here,
does not pandemic in the true sense, however pandemic here is used to refer to the timing)
Here's a convenient Weakaura to help you optimise it. The button will glow when you need to press the
ability

Feral Druid Conduit Guide
Necrolord Druid Signature Ability:
is a pretty simple ability, it casts a channel, granting a pretty hefty shield, while channeling it will also provide a damage reduction.
Necrolord Exclusive Legendary for Feral Druids
NEW Necrolord Legendary
:
has a 60% chance to split into two Swarms each time it jumps.
The new Necrolord specific legendary gives necro somewhat of a niche in large sustained AOE, it can now be played in mythic+ converting this covenant from being a predominantly single target covenant to an AOE covenant. You'll now want to play by buildling up a swarm and maintaining it to maximise your AOE dot damage, both from tier set and from
.
Other Legendary Interactions for Necrolord Feral Druids
The only Legendary interaction to care about for Necrolord is that
will also reduce the duration of
. It doesn't have a significant impact but it is a small reduction in uptime.

Best Necrolord Feral Druid Soulbinds
Best Necrolord Feral Druid Max Renown 80 Soulbind
On the way to Renown 80, you'll still continue to use Bonesmith Heirmir's soulbind tree.
The below Soulbind Calculator is valid starting at Renown 60. Conduits are socketed in order of highest priority from top to bottom in order to facilitate the greatest benefit when empowering conduit rows from renown. Please see our Feral Druid Conduit Guide for more information on Conduits including Empowered Conduits.
FeralDruid Conduit Guide
Feral continues to take Bonesmith Heirmir due to gaining two additional damage traits in both the path to and the capstone trait,
, which converts some of all of your damage into a DOT (very thematic for necro feral).
In some situations dependent on gear
, may be superior to the additional potency conduit, particularly in M+ scenario's
Necrolord Feral Druid Covenant Rotation Changes
As mentioned earlier there is some optimization to using
, however outside of that there isn't really a significant impact to the rotation.

also has some prepull optimisations. This is fairly simple and is just in order to maximise uptime of the
debuff, all you'll need to do is cast
on a fellow melee player who's standing 30-40 yards away from yourself 12 seconds before you pull the boss.
To see how this all fits within the context of the entire spec, we encourage you to check the other pages in the guide related to the context you are looking for:

Necrolord Feral Druid Talent Changes
When Playing Necrolord talents actually shift quite significantly from the baseline of other feral covenants. Necrolord has significant amplifications to dot and bleed damage and this heavily changes what talents you should be playing.
Differing from the baseline talents, Necrolord Ferals will now take different talents on the following rows
Level 15
:
- Adding in another dot to juggle, this talent makes your Moonfire scale with AP, cost energy, and generate a combopoint.
Level 40
:
- A blast from the past! this talent spends combo points to apply a buff that increases damage and energy regeneration.
Level 50
:
- This becomes the best option on the final row. A chunky dot that also generates 5 Combo Points.

Necrolord Feral Druid Soulbinds Explained
Necrolord have access, across all classes and specs, to the same three Soulbinds:
Plague Deviser Marileth
,
Emeni
and
Bonesmith Heirmir
. They are the NPCs you complete the zone story with, and allow you to "attune" yourself to them to gain access to a tree of upgrades centered around your base toolkit (through Conduits) and covenant abilities (through special, game-wide traits).
This tree progressively unlocks based on completion steps (such as finishing the campaign) and your renown level with the Necrolord covenant.
We've summarized the optimal traits for each Soulbind below, along with potential conduits to slot in.
Plague Deviser Marileth grants you three impactful traits:
empowers your
by granting an additional buff when
is used meaning that it's a nice DPS bump to keep fleshcraft on cooldown whenever possible.
grants you a shield when you drop below 50% health.
The former Capstone trait in this tree,
, makes you immune to CC and heals you while channeling Fleshcraft. This can be pretty useful too.
There's not a whole lot of DPS value in this tree, though the CC immunity could be a DPS value on some fights.
An example tree to follow on this Soulbind is as follows:
Emeni provides a couple of interesting nodes:
is the first trait in the tree. It grants a little DPS bump when you use your
, this is normalized so for our incredibly short CD ability it also has a pretty low duration.
allows you to gain a small amount of extra HP when casting
.
is another trait that grants a DPS benefit from keeping
on cooldown
An example tree can be seen below, the tree focuses on getting both potency conduits and grabs a finesse and endurance conduit as side benefits.
Picking Bonesmith Heirmir grants access to the following notable traits:
reduces the CD on your Fleshcraft for every mob you kill.
gives a boost of crit after a certain number of crits. We like both crit, and more crit. So this is a natural bonus.
grants a nice boost to mastery. While this will be less relevant in raids, in Mythic+ this willr esult in a big chunk of mastery.
Double Legendaries for Necrolord Feral Druid
Patch 9.2 adds the option of using two legendaries at the same time, with the restriction that one of them is your Covenant legendary. This change empowers Necrolord Feral Druid even more. You can learn more about it in our Legendary Guide.
