King Rastakhan was the ruler of the Zandalari Empire. Rastakhan ruled the Zandalari Empire for over two hundred years thanks to the blessings of the Loa of Kings, Rezan. With Rezan's death at the hands of the dark prophet Zul, Rastakhan lost much of his vitality, and in despair, Rastakhan struck a deal with the Loa of Death, Bwonsamdi.
Rastakhan was killed by Alliance adventurers during the Battle for Dazar'alor raid, with Rastakhan's daughter,
Talanji
, risen as the new ruler of the Zandalari.

Classic WoW
Rastakhan's name was first mentioned during WoW Classic on their
Troll Compendium: Zandalar Tribe
short series.
After the Sundering, the Zandalari Trolls saw no need to leave what had become the island of Zandalar. After rebuilding their damaged society, the Zandalari Trolls continued their studies until it was noticed that the Gurubashi Trolls of Stranglethorn Vale started showing dramatic increases in power and territory, attributing said gains to the influence of the god
哈卡
.
At first, the Zandalari society, as they've always pushed towards benefitting troll society as a whole, they were happy for their jungle brethren. However, as the Gurubashi's territory increased, they researched into Hakkar and the results were horrifying: Hakkar was also known as the Soulflayer, a god that would fill their servants with murderous rage, and revel in their dark emotions.
Yojamba Isle, the Zandalari Tribe's location, populated during Vanilla WoW.
After hearing the word that Zandalari Priests were being enslaved in order to bring Hakkar into Azeroth, King Rastakhan had sent emissaries to aid Azeroth's adventurers in the form of the
赞达拉部族
, in their mission to stop Hakkar from feasting on Azeroth's living beings.
With the threat of Hakkar eliminated, the Zandalar Tribe returned to their island, leaving their settlements of Yojamba Isle empty.
Cataclysm
Rastakhan's prophet, Zul, warned Rastakhan of a terrible cataclysm, a vision of a massive dragon clenching the world with its jaws. Months before Deathwing's resurgence, Zul returned to Rastakhan with visions of the Zandalari Capital, Dazar'alor, sinking between the waves after the aftermath of the Cataclysm.
Zul advised the King and his council to unite the lesser troll tribes and seek a new island to call their own. Rastakhan, annoyed by Zul's persistence, gave him the largest of his ships for him and his followers to seek new land in case his prophecy comes to pass.
However, Zul's prophecy came to pass, and Rastakhan decided to support Zul and the Zandalari's efforts to build a new troll civilization, as Zandalar started sinking to the bottom of the sea. Thanks to the chaos ensued by the Cataclysm, the Zandalari society, previously friendly to Azeroth's adventurers, was reshaped by the desperation to not go extinct, and would now be hostile to both Horde and Alliance.
Battle for Azeroth
We see Rastakhan for the first time officially in Battle for Azeroth.
Zuldazar
In an effort to seek more allies in the war against the Alliance, the Horde approached Zandalar seeking an alliance with Rastakhan after rescuing Talanji and Zul from the Stormwind Stockades (
逃出暴风城
). Although most of the Zanchuli Council was disgusted by the presence of the Horde in Dazar'alor, Rastakhan allowed them a safe ground thanks to the efforts that went on bringing Talanji safe home.
In Zuldazar, Horde players have as their main objective to gain Rastakhan's trust.

Seeing Rastakhan as a weak and soft king, the Prophet Zul was planning to overthrow Rastakhan and create a troll empire to rival the ancient civilizations, under the guidance of the Blood God G'huun. Zul eventually exacted his plan and attacked Rastakhan, effectively making Bwonsamdi attempt to claim Rastakhan's soul (

). However, thanks to the efforts of the Loas Pa'ku and Rezan, Rastakhan was brought back to life (
洛阿神灵的意志
).
King Rastakhan says: Ugh... I can still feel de touch of de Other Side.
King Rastakhan says: My loa has called me back to de land of de living. Dere is work to be done.
Zul, inspired by the efforts of the Drakkari Trolls of Zul'Drak, attempted to drain Rezan's power, just as the Drakkari did with their loas, but Horde adventurers stopped their effort. Thanks to this, Rezan, the Loa of Kings, managed to convince Rastakhan that he had in fact grown soft and made the Zandalari King swear to take out Zul (
献祭神灵
).
Rezan says: Rastakhan, your enemies test your borders.
Rezan says: Your council challenges your authority. Your friends try to take your life.
Rezan says: There is blood in the waters now.
Rezan says: It is time to ask yourself... are you king, or are you prey?
King Rastakhan says: I have grown soft. Many have tried to warn me... my own daughter among dem. I did not listen.
King Rastakhan says: But I swear to you, and to dis champion of de Horde, dat I will not rest until I have Zul's head.
In an effort to take out Zul, Rastakhan gathered all the loas from Zandalar and launched an assault into Atal'Dazar, where Zul was known to be hiding. However, during the confrontation, Zul's forces managed to slay Rezan. Losing the protection of the Loa of Kings made Rastakhan start to age fast, and after a Blood Troll attack directly onto Dazar'alor, Rastakhan saw himself forced to make a deal with Bwonsamdi: Rastakhan asked for Bwonsamdi to become his loa and elevate him above all other loa in Zandalar, in exchange for having his entire bloodline serve him in life and death, forever.
Zandalar Forever!
As Zul landed a final assault on Dazar'alor with the C'thraxi Mythrax the Unraveler, Rastakhan called upon the powers of Bwonsamdi, who was happy to oblige. Rastakhan slew Zul, but not before the final seal on Uldir was destroyed by Mythrax, unleashing the Blood God G'huun into the world. Bwonsamdi congratulated Rastakhan on taking back their empire (

).
Battle for Dazar'alor
King Rastakhan is the sixth encounter of the Battle for Dazar'alor raid, and the third and final encounter of the Alliance wing of the raid. Horde players experience this encounter thanks to a flashback system that temporarily turns them into Alliance races, the story being told by the perspective of a Horde scout.

Upon reaching Rastakhan's room, players are greeted with a dialogue between Rastakhan and Greymane, with Greymane asking for the Zandalari King to surrender. Since Horde players experience this dialogue from the perspective of a scout who witnessed what happened, they get different, more aggressive versions of Greymane's speech, proving that the story is being told by an unreliable narrator. It is left unclear which version is the real one.
Rastakhan's response is the same for both versions of the dialogue, with him refusing to surrender, mentioning Greymane's status as an exile, and that the Zandalar will stand long after the Alliance is dismissed.
Genn Greymane: King Rastakhan of Zandalar... On behalf of the Alliance, and in the name of King Anduin Wrynn, I hereby request your surrender.
Otoye: Like hungry predators, de Alliance monsters closed in on their prey.
Otoye: De heartless Alliance stormed de throne room. Our noble king defied them to de very end!
Genn Greymane: King Rastakhan of Zandalar... I order you to submit! You will bow before your new master, King Anduin Wrynn, and you will deliver your daughter to us as a hostage!
King Rastakhan: You... an exile without a homeland... you dare invade dese sacred halls and demand dat I turn my kingdom over to you?
King Rastakhan: De Zandalari built an empire dat would endure for over ten-thousand years... while your barbaric ancestors scuffled in de dirt.
King Rastakhan: WE conquered this world. WE brought it glory. You... you are nothing. Merely de latest in a long line of savages seeking to undermine our greatness.
King Rastakhan: No, I will not surrender. Because no matter what happens here today... Zandalar will stand long after your Alliance has crumbled to dust.
King Rastakhan: But if you are so eager to meet Bwonsamdi... den step forward. De Loa of Death awaits!
King Rastakhan: Zandalar forever!
Genn Greymane: So be it. Heroes... you know what must be done.
Genn Greymane: So be it. Heroes of the Alliance... strike him down! No mercy for this savage!
Rastakhan starts the fight accompanied by advisors, but as they fall, the King calls upon Bwonsamdi to aid him in the fight. However, not even the Loa of Death's power is enough to stop the Alliance adventurers, with Rastakhan being defeated and left for dead.
After Horde players defeat Rastakhan, a cinematic starts, showing that Talanji managed to get to Rastakhan, although she was too late to stop the Alliance. Rastakhan is on the brink of death as Talanji arrives, and he dies asking Talanji for forgiveness as the powers from Bwonsamdi's deal pass on to her. After Rastakhan dies, Bwonsamdi appears to finally claim Rastakhan's soul, and Talanji finally learns of the bargain he struck with Rastakhan.
The King's Death
The Battle for Dazar'alor ends up in a sweeping victory for the Alliance, with King Rastakhan dead, the Zandalari fleet in ruins, and not as many casualties for the Alliance side. The leaders of the Horde pay respects to Rastakhan as they prepare for retribution against the Alliance (
大王之死
).
Shadows Rising
While most souls that die after a certain point are sent to the Maw, Bwonsamdi was able to save Rastakhan's soul from that fate, and has it in his own realm.
Rastakhan's death and legacy weighs heavily on his daughter Talanji, who struggles to cope with the pressures of being queen, especially at first. Talanji asks Bwonsamdi to bring Rastakhan's soul to her, to let her speak to him, but he refuses. However, after a particularly difficult battle where Talanji helps to save Bwonsamdi, he finally allows her to see Rastakhan for a very short time. During the visit, Rastakhan's spirit wavers, and he feels something wrong - something unnatural. Bwonsamdi explains that there is something unpredictable going on with the Other Side, which is why the visit has to be so short.
Rastakhan tells his daughter that he is proud of her, and encourages her when she speaks of her mistakes. He tells her that no leader is perfect, and her mistakes will be forgotten and replaced with victories. He urges her to be brave, and tells her again how proud he is of her.

"Rastakhan asked for Bwonsamdi to become his loa and elevate him above all other loa in Zandalar" Slightly missleading, He asked him to grant him the power to recover his kingdom in exchange for elevating Bwonsamdi, not himself, above all other Loa.
