This guide covers tactics, strengths, and weaknesses for all the Advanced AI NPC teams players face on Normal, Heroic, and Mythic difficulties of Island Expeditions.
Introduction
On Normal, Heroic, and Mythic difficulties of Island Expeditions, players will be racing against a 3 member team of NPCs themed on the opposite faction. These NPCs work with an Advanced AI that makes them work completely different from other NPCs and closer to player behavior. While we don't know exactly how these NPCs are programmed, there are some very noticable difference from the Advanced AI vs. normal creature AI.
Ignore Taunt effects.
Jumping and kiting.
Focus targeting low health players.
Sneak off to collect Azerite from a chest or node.
Horde players queuing for Island Expeditions will be going against one of the
Alliance Expedition Teams
, while Alliance players queuing for Island Expeditions will be going against one of the
Horde Expedition Teams.
These Advanced AI teams gain access to more abilities on higher difficulties of Island Expeditions.
Horde Expedition Teams
The Blazing Sunhawks
Alliance Team Equivalent:
Auric's Angels

Strengths:

This team uses many crowd control abilites on players to either attempt to kill a player very quickly or steal Azerite from the players. The burst damage output of this team is very high so being caught off-guard can be deadly.
Weaknesses:

Strengths:
The Warbraves are a team with a decent amount of health and healing. It will take a good amount of damage to bring one of them down.
Weaknesses:
The Warbraves while sturdy, do not deal a high amount of damage in a short period of time.
is the most vulnerable of the team, especially if she is prevented from casting.
The Headhunters

Healer (Shaman)

Ranged Healer/Damage Dealer
Dizzy Dina uses many gadgets. A Medic bot to heal the team, turrets to deal damage, and drops decoys and vanishes often to drop targeting on her.
Class/Role:
Mixed Damage Dealer
Razak primarily engages players with his mechanostrider which charges through players and casts a Flamethrower cone dealing damage. When players destroy his mechanostrider, Razak himself will be targetable and begin trying to run away, if he lives for sometime outside of his mechanostrider, he will eventually hop in a new mechanostrider at full health.

Tally primarily channels
on players which deals increasing damage the longer it channels.
Strengths
Razak's Roughriders specialize in using many gadgets and tinkers to both distract players and place traps to damage players. Rakak Ironsides in particular uses his mechanostrider in combat and you have to destroy his mechanostrider first before you can kill him.

Weaknesses

Strengths
The Riftrunners are void elves who all possess the void elf racial to Blink around, making it hard to stay on them. They are very mobile around the Island as well, causing them to be efficient at gathering Azerite.
Weakness
The team is very tanky and hard to kill while

Very nice guild, bigger picture option would have been nice.

A couple teams have NPCs that have their roles switched.
Visara is the healer for the Nightborne team instead of Lusaris, and Skaggit uses the bombs/vanish/heal instead of Lady Sena.

After a few HM islands, seemed that the teams have also different behaviour / strategies to "win".
For example, we didn't see the tauren team at all but they were rushing for azerite. Meanwhile against the Greenbelly's we frequently found them on our way...

This is a pretty bare read tbh. Would be nice if it had more details. Like for instance, the headhunters' berserker's scaling haste and damage buff as his health decreases. which becomes an insanely powerful boon if you allow him to use his unable to die ability, which yeah the witch doctor doesn't use, it's taz-dingo from the berserker. And other stuff like that
