This guide provides tips and strategies for defeating the Il'gynoth, Corruption Reborn encounter on Normal Difficulty in Ny'alotha, the Waking City. Changes to the fight for the other difficulties are listed below in their respective sections, including tips and strategies for dealing with the new mechanics introduced in these difficulties.
Il'gynoth, Corruption Reborn is a two phase encounter. During phase one the raid must fight Il'gynoth directly, which involves kiting his gaze spells and dodging his frontal beam. Once defeated, the raid enters phase two, where they must defeat one of three
腐化器官
enemies whilst spreading out with debuffs. Once an organ dies, phase one starts over again. This is then repeated until all three organs are dead and Il'gynoth has been defeated for the fourth time.

Il'gynoth is a boss that is unlocked after defeating Drest'agath and Shad'har. After defeating Il'gynoth, Ra-den and Vexiona, the Carapace of N'zoth encounter is unlocked.

Il'gynoth Quick Tips
Phase One
Tanks: Make sure that no other players are hit by the
恩佐斯之眼
frontal beam directed towards you.
This is most easily done by standing at the far side of the area the raid is currently fighting in.
DPS/Healers: Kite the
腐蚀者的凝视
beams into low traffic areas, ideally around the edges of the room or over areas previously covered by beams.
Phase Two
The raid should move to an
腐化器官
and kill it as soon as possible.
Interrupt the
脉动之血
ability cast by the
腐化器官
.
One small team of interrupters should move to each organ that is not being killed this phase, so that they can kick the
脉动之血
cast.
Move away from allies when afflicted with
诅咒之血
. Players without the debuff should stack up to give others space to spread.
Kite, crowd control and kill any
尼奥罗萨之血
adds that accidentally spawn during this phase.
Dispel any
轮回噩梦
dots applied to players who are melee hit by the
尼奥罗萨之血
adds.
Later Phases
Keep kiting and killing the blood adds that inevitably spawn from dead
腐化器官
adds.
The raid should be stood around the area where they are going to fight the next
腐化器官
.
Il'gynoth Phase One
恩佐斯之眼
Every 25 seconds, the boss will cast
恩佐斯之眼
at the current tank.
This is a large beam directed at the tanks location which deals a large burst of shadow damage whilst increasing the damage taken from this ability by 75% for 45 seconds.
The tank wants to position themselves so that the beam is not going to hit any other raid member.
This is most easily done by having the raid loosely spread in one area whilst the tank stands to the far left or right of that area.
After ever 2

casts, the tanks should taunt swap as to keep the damage taken debuff below 3 stacks on any given tank.
Phase the
恩佐斯之眼
beam away from the raid!

If you are targeted by
腐蚀者的凝视
an orange swirly appears underneath you.
Throughout the phase, the boss will occasionally mark a location near a random non-tank player with a swirly orange circle.
Moments later a beam will appear at that location and chase the player for ~8 seconds.
As it chases the player it spawns patches of
腐蚀沼泽
which deals high shadow damage every second to anyone who stands within them, whilst also pacifying and silencing them.
The
腐蚀沼泽
patches do not despawn, so placing them correctly should be a high priority for all players.
Ranged players should be loosely spread towards the edges of the encounter space. When
锁定
d, they should kite the beam along the wall to keep it out of harms way.
Melee players should be loosely spread, as this will help them identify if the beam is targeting them. When
锁定
d, they should attempt to kite the beam to a low traffic area, or in a small circle as to try and overlap the patches spawned by the beam.
Kite the beam away from your raid!
Once the boss reaches 1 health, he will sink into the ground and will no longer attack the raid. Phase two then begins.
Phase Two
腐化器官
As soon as Il'gynoth sinks into the ground, three
腐化器官
enemies will appear, one in each alcove around the edges of the room.
These organs do not melee hit players, nor do they need to be tanked, instead they will cast
脉动之血
.
This long interruptible cast will spawn a
尼奥罗萨之血
add if it is successful.
The raid wants to avoid spawning these adds, so all three organs should be interrupted at all times.
Once an
腐化器官
dies, all other organs that are still alive will heal to 100% health and the phase will end.
This encourages the raid to nuke down one organ whilst the other active organs are interrupted to prevent adds from spawning.
Organs of Corruption must be interrupted!
The raid should separate into three groups.
Two of the groups should consists of two players, each with short cooldown interrupts (15 seconds or less).
These small groups should each go to a separate
腐化器官
and interrupt the
脉动之血
cast on a rotation.
Good candidates for these groups are tanks and shaman healers, as they do not do very high damage but can interrupt the organs often.
In theory, a Protection Paladin can solo interrupt an organ by alternating between using their Avenger's Shield and interrupt ability, allowing for more players to be part of the main group.
The last group should consist of the rest of the raid. This group still needs to interrupt their organ but they will be actively killing it at the same time.

If a
脉动之血
cast goes uninterrupted, a
尼奥罗萨之血
add will spawn nearby and will immediately
锁定
on a random player.
Once they reach the player they will melee hit them. Each melee hit applies
轮回噩梦
, a 40 second debuff which deals high magic damage every 2 seconds.
This debuff will stack if a player takes multiple melee hits, but it can be dispelled as it is a magic debuff.
A player
锁定
d by an add should kite it, ideally towards melee players. All DPS should focus on killing it as soon as possible.
Crowd control spells should be used to stun, slow and root adds near melee so that they can be quickly cleaved down and killed.
When an add dies it will cast
出血
, dealing a burst of magic damage to the entire raid.
The raid must be careful not to kill too many adds at once and they must make sure that the raid is healthy before any adds die.
Kite, crowd control and kill the
尼奥罗萨之血
adds!
诅咒之血
Around every 18 seconds throughout this phase, several players will be afflicted with
诅咒之血
.
This 8 second debuff deals low shadow damage every 2 seconds.
When it expires, it deals a large burst of shadow damage to the player and all other players within 11 yards.
Players with
诅咒之血
should spread away from their allies before the debuff times out.
All other players should stack up near the current organ, so that there is more space for people to spread into.
As this debuff can be applied to the small 2 player interrupt teams, a healer should be assigned to look these players throughout this phase if needed.
Move away from allies when afflicted with
诅咒之血
!
After defeating an
腐化器官
, any other alive organs will heal to full and become inaccessible.
The boss will then respawn in the middle of the room and phase two will begin again.
The only difference in this phase one is that the dead organ will remain active, spawning Blood adds at a steady rate for the rest of the encounter.
There is no way of stopping a dead organ from spawning adds. The raid is instead forced to deal with them until the fight is over.
This includes subsequent phase twos. The raid should entirely ignore this organ as it cannot be interacted with in any way.
These adds should be dealt with in the same way, by having all DPS switch to them when the adds come into range whilst crowd controlling them to help prevent any
轮回噩梦
debuffs from being applied.
After each phase two the raid will have to deal with another dead organ spewing out adds, eventually leading to three add sources during the last phase one.
Overall Il'gynoth Strategy
There are several different strategies the raid can use to defeat this boss, however on normal and heroic difficulty the simplest strategy is usually the best to follow.
Even if the strategy listed below isn't the most effective in theory, in practice it probably would be, as any raid could follow the strategy easily.
The raid should start on the left side of the room and kill the organs from left to right over the course of the encounter.
This is very easy to follow, just always go clockwise around the room to the next organ each time you leave phase two.
This will always take you to an area where there are little to no
腐蚀沼泽
patches as the raid has not entered this area during phase one before.
After killing the third
腐化器官
, the raid will then end up at the entrance to the encounter space which is entirely free from any
腐蚀沼泽
patches.
This area is also the furthest point from each Blood add spawn location, giving players a chance to react to the incoming adds.
This last phase one is the hardest part of the encounter so the raid should use bloodlust and DPS cooldowns as to get through it before they are swarmed with too many
尼奥罗萨之血
adds.

Heroic Difficulty
腐蚀者之触
On a timer during phase one, the boss will apply
腐蚀者之触
debuffs to two random non-tank players.
This debuff charms these players for 1 minute. During this time these players will run towards players and cast this spell, attempting to spread the charm to others.
腐蚀者之触
is removed when the afflicted player has their health brought to 30% or lower.
Crowd control and bring charmed players to 30% health to free them!
As soon as players gain this debuff, the raid should look to crowd control them as to stop them from spreading the debuff.
Ranged DPS should then nuke the players out of their charm as soon as possible.
Melee DPS must be careful if they want to help free the players, as they will need to get close enough that a successful
腐蚀者之触
cast will spread to them.
Once the players have been freed, healers should heal them back up as soon as possible, whilst also dispelling any harmful spells on them if possible and safe to do so.
PTR note: Tremor Totem did break this charm instantly during heroic difficulty testing. During later mythic difficulty testing it had no effect. It is unclear whether the Tremor Totem just doesn't work on mythic, or it was hotfixed not to work on the mechanic entirely.

The mythic change on this encounter is the addition of the
诅咒之血
mechanic, which will apply the debuff to seven players each time it is cast. This debuff will change in size, indicated by the visual circle around the player. The larger the circle, the more damage the debuff does, and vice versa. The intended way of dealing with this debuff is for healers to dispel it when it is at its minimum size, which will deal the debuffs damage to the entire raid. However, with the following strategy none of the debuffs will be dispelled.
The second addition on Mythic is the
Clotted Corruption
add which spawns during Phase 2. The
Clotted Corruption
will

towards the furthest player in the raid, dealing damage to anyone in the line. If the
Clotted Corruption

, it will instantly kill it, but gain a 10% damage increase buff which will stack.

Any suggestions for handling phase 2 with a 10-man raid group? If we put two interrupters on each add we're losing a lot of dps on the one we're killing. Is the room small enough for one healer to reach 2nd and 3rd adds to 2-heal? Can non pally tanks solo interrupts on 10?

Running this on heroic tonight
touch-of-the-corruptor
was being cast on 4 people not two. Must scale to raid size as we had 21 people in our raid. Hope this helps
