In this
Shadowlands
guide, we will explain how to
change and rejoin Covenants
, including all requirements and . Leaving one Covenant to join another is very easy, as long as the new Covenant is one that you have
never joined before
or you have character above
Renown 80
. If you don't have one character at Renown 80, trying to rejoin a Covenant you've left involves two consecutive weekly quests to prove that you plan to re-dedicate yourself to that Covenant.
Swapping Covenants and Grinding Renown Optimally
How to Switch Covenants in Patch 9.2
Players can freely swap between Covenants after reaching Renown 80 with any character in their account. The achievement
Renowned
is required to unlock free switches. These switches have no restrictions; you can switch back and forth as many times as you want.
This includes rejoining Covenants you've belonged to before.
Changing Covenants is as simple as talking to an NPC. There are no quests to complete, and the change is instantaneous. Go to Oribos and consult the leader of the Covenant you want to join. The leader will ask you if you're certain. Then pick up the quest to go to your new Covenant Sanctum. If you have never joined this Covenant before, there will be a very short intro quest you will need to pick up powers and open your Sanctum.
Kyrian - Polemarch Adestres: /way 36.2, 64.2
Necrolord - Secutor Mevix: /way 43, 74
Night Fae - Lady Moonberry: /way 39.6, 60.9
Venthyr - General Draven: /way 44.7, 68.8
Before You Go: Reclaim Banked Anima
If you're planning to switch permanently from one Covenant to another, you have options for changing. you swap Covenants, your current Anima does not go to the new Covenant with you. In order to move your Reservoir Anima from one Covenant to the next, you can buy
旅行者的心能宝箱
from
奥·达拉
by the Flight Path in Oribos until you're out of anima and then use it once you arrive in your new Covenant. This will let you move 0
贮藏心能
at a time.
Unfortunately, you can't move
救赎之魂
s this way; those stay behind. However, the quest
带回失落之魂
is now repeatable, so getting
救赎之魂
s for your Sanctum isn't as difficult as it used to be.
Effects of Switching Covenants
Switching Covenants will change the following:
Covenant Hall and Hall Upgrades:
You will lose access to your former Covenant's hall and upgrades. Any Adventures on your Adventure Table running at the time you switch will cease. If you are returning to a previous Covenant, you'll regain any Covenant hall upgrades you earned prior to switching out of it.
Covenant-Restricted Mounts, Titles, etc.
: You will lose access to Covenant-restricted mounts, titles, and some other perks belonging to your former Covenant. You will gain any earned mounts and titles for your new Covenant as you reach certain Renown levels.
Covenant Class and Signature Abilities
: You will lose access to your old Covenant's signature and class abilities, and gain the new Covenant's signature and class abilities instead.
Covenant Restricted Legendaries (not Unity):
You will keep any Covenant-specific Legendaries you had, but they will do anything special if you don't have the class ability they are meant to enhance.
团结的回忆
: If you have the Unity Covenant legendary for your class, the properties will change automatically to those appropriate for your new Covenant.
Hearthstone Bind Spot
: If you had your hearthstone set to your Covenant hall, it will automatically switch to your new Covenant hall. For example, if you had your bind point in Elysian Hold as Kyrian, it will switch to Sinfall when you switch to Venthyr.
Renown level
: If you have never belonged to that Covenant before, your Renown will reset to level 1. If you're rejoining a previous Covenant, your Renown will be set at whatever level it was at the time you left it.
Reservoir Anima and Redeemed Souls:
You will lose access to any accumulated Reservoir Anima in your old Covenant's hall, unless you take steps to move it out. You will not be able to move Redeemed Souls. However, if you return to that Covenant, any remaining Anima you had there will be there waiting for you, as well as any accumulated Redeemed Souls from before.
Soulbind
: If you return to a former Covenant, you'll return to whatever Soulbind you had in place when you left it. If you have never joined that Covenant before, you'll need to repeat the steps to unlock your first Soulbind, and the second two Soulbinds will become available immediately thereafter.
Adventure Companions:
You will lose all Covenant-specific Adventurers for your Adventure Table. However, neutral Adventurers such as
考尔曼
or
肉弹
will come with you to your new Covenant, retaining their previous level.
Upgrade to Renown 60
Players who have reached Renown 80 and earned the achievement
声名显赫
open the ability for all characters on their account to purchase
掮灵的卓越印记
. This account-bound item can also be sent to any level 50+ alt on any faction, and will raise that character's Renown with their chosen Covenant to 60.
Applying
掮灵的卓越印记
to a newly switched character will not only reward Renown 60 and all the perks that come with it, they'll also receive 4x
灌注心能的部件箱
, which will start them off with 0
贮藏心能
for building up the Covenant hall, or sending to another character. (In fact, I've used this on alts I don't plan to run past 60 -- join and switch to each of the four Covenants, go to one hall to deposit all the Anima, and purchase 4
旅行者的心能宝箱
to send 0
贮藏心能
to active alts. You can do this as soon as you can join your first Covenant at level 50).
Rejoining Former Covenants Without Renown 80
After Renown 80
Once any character in your account reaches Renown 80, all characters in your account can freely move between any of the four covenants without any restrictions.
See the sections above for details.
Without Renown 80
If you don't have a character who is Renown 80, it makes far more sense to focus on that instead of doing the rejoin quest,
which is long, tedious, and isn't worth the time. However, if you feel you must to do it without a character at Renown 80, the old process still exists.
Changing from one Covenant to another Covenant you have never joined before is simple: talk to the Covenant leader and ask to join. You will lose your Renown, any Covenant hall improvements, etc. See the section above on
Switching Covenants in Patch 9.2
above for a complete list of changes you'll experience when you switch.
The problem lies not with changing to a new Covenant: it's with trying to rejoin one you'd belonged to before and wish to join again.
Rejoining a Covenant you had previously belonged to is no small feat without the Renown 80 advantage. Since the previous Covenant feels that you committed an act of betrayal, you will be required to prove your dedication to them once again. In this case, you will need to complete two consecutive weekly quests before you will be allowed to rejoin. This is why we say it's so much easier just to get your highest character to Renown 80 before you do this.
You do not officially leave your previous Covenant until you have completed all the steps to switch.
Step 1: Talk to the Leader
Speak with the Covenant leader in Oribos of the Covenant you wish to join again (locations listed above). They will express their disappointment at your betrayal, and say that you will need to prove yourself again to them.
Step 2: Prove Your Worth Quest
The leader will then give you a weekly quest to start the process of rejoining the Covenant:
Kyrian:
证明你的价值
- Complete tasks in Bastion.
Necrolord:
证明你的价值
- Complete tasks in Maldraxxus.
Night Fae:
证明你的价值
- Complete tasks in Ardenweald.
Venthyr:
证明你的价值
- Complete tasks in Revendreth.
The requirements to complete this quest line are stiff; you need to complete a percentage bar of combined activities, including rares, rare elites, treasures, world quests, daily bosses, and dungeon bosses.
All of these must be completed within your Covenant's home zone or in dungeons associated with your Covenant's area.
World Quests, rares, etc., completed in a different zone will not count toward progress.
While you can do any combination of these tasks, the most efficient way to fill the bar is to run dungeons. Each kill of a dungeon boss in that zone will net you 12% of a bar. Dungeon difficulty doesn't matter. Complete 2 dungeons with 4 bosses apiece for 96% completion; complete one World Quest to finish. If you're a Necrolord, you can do Theater of Pain and skip the World Quest, since Theater of Pain has 5 dungeon bosses instead of 4.
The dungeons associated with each Covenant area are as follows:
Bastion - Kyrian:
Necrotic Wake, Spires of Ascension
Maldraxxus - Necrolord:
Plaguefall, Theater of Pain
Ardenweald - Night Fae:
Mists of Tirna Scithe, De Other Side
Revendreth - Venthyr:
Halls of Atonement, Sanguine Depths
Hand in
Prove Your Worth
and wait for the Covenant leaders to decide your fate (see below).
Step 3: Rebuild Our Trust Quest
Once you have completed Steps 1-2 and
a weekly reset has occurred
, the Covenant Ambassador will have a new quest for you called
Rebuild Our Trust
. Although the name has changed, the requirements are identical to
Prove Your Worth
.
Kyrian:
重建信任
- Complete tasks in Bastion.
Necrolord:
重建信任
- Complete tasks in Maldraxxus.
Night Fae:
重建信任
- Complete tasks in Ardenweald.
Venthyr:
重建信任
- Complete tasks in Revendreth.
The requirements are the same and so is the recommendation to finish this most efficiently: do your two Covenant-area dungeons and 1 world quest, unless you're a Necrolord and you can do Theater of Pain with its 5 bosses.
Turn in the completed quest to the Covenant Leader, and you will immediately switch back to that Covenant. If there is anything you had wanted to do with your old Covenant first, make sure you do it before turning in Rebuild Our Trust.

You will lose access to all your previous Covenant perks immediately upon switching, including abilities, Sanctum progress,
transmogs
, and soulbinds
Wait, so you will lose access to already learned transmogs from the convenant if you leave it?
Or are you saying we will just lose access to any vendors?

Hot garbage. Cant wait for the "I told you so." that we get to say when this blows up in their face and people hate it. Maybe one day we will get something that doesn't force us todo content we don't want to(Essences) do OR make it so that doing more than one type of content is feels bad(Covenants) while also being alt friendly.

I am fine with the covenants being punishing for switching, but losing your unlocked progress or at least not having it transfer over to the other covenant? That's bad, I hope this is changed.
It's not funny when you consider a person (like myself) who intends to grind weeks of anima to unlock the mogs of that covenant, or even upgrade their armour to high ranks of 5+, grinding that renown.
That is scummy.

Think of it this way, choosing a Covenant is a commitment! Just like the faction you toon is, Alliance or Horde. If it was possible for your toon to swap factions from Alliance to Horde or vise versa. I am not referring to the paying Blizzard for a faction change. I am talking like a human paladin choosing to go to the horde and staying a human! Wouldn't he have to prove his worth to the horde first because it would be thought he was a spy, then later have to do the same thing if he decided to go back to the Alliance first being viewed as a traitor. I know it is a game but it is a role playing game so use some common sense! You should not be thinking of changing covenants, because you made a commitment Especially, thinking of changing covenants frequently would be a horrible idea. I hope the punishment stays because there are consequences for your choices and actions. Remember you can have up to 50 toons on one account so take advantage of it so you can be in multiple covenants on different toons!

BLIZZARD HOT FIXES FOR RECOVERED SOULS QUEST STILL NOT WORKING. BLIZ BUG REPORT IS UNAVAILABLE AND FORUM HAS NO ANSWERS! This is in regard to switching covenants from Kyrian to Night Fae. The wowhead guide has blue posts stating that this bug is fixed with instructions on what to do. Although the quest shows complete in the log and on the map there is no npc spawned for the quest turn in. I followed the blue posts instructions by relogging and quitting the game in Orbitos and Heart of the Forest, but still no luck. Does anyone else have this problem?
UPDATE:
I APOLIGIZE TO BLIZZARD BECUASE THIS HAS BEEN FIXED AND IT HAS BEEN MY FAULT. I didn't realize the Heart of the Forest has 2 levels and Zayhad, the npc whom this quest is turned into is located on the lower level. It took a posted video on the wowhead page Recovered Souls quest to show me the way. The entrance to the lower level is on the south side.

ok so what made wow great was choice with talents to come up with certain builds and have "fun" this system punishes you for wanting to explore things
i do not like it at all, i wanted to test things on my characters and see what goes well for what situations. i decided to not do that and play cookie cutter
boring builds....good job at ruining the fun blizzard you should've made it so you have to donate to the covenant you would like to rejoin and get everything back.
maybe not too highly scaled up this would in turn create need for anima but at this point i think blizzard lack so much creativity that they are jealous of
anyone that can be so they design their game to punish exploration and creativity.

Week 1 I changed covenants to from kyrian to nightfae then immediately started the quest to go back kyrian. Week 2 I capped renown on nightfae then turned in quest to go back kyrian and capped renown but now night fae will not give me the quest to start to switch back immediately. So there is something preventing the gaming of the system.

This has been changed and was not documented as far as I could find. If you complete Rebuilding Our Trust quest (the second week portion), you CANNOT pickup Prove Your Worth (the first week portion) again in the same week, you have to wait an extra week before you can pick it up, therefore the "gaming the system" portion above is false, I made this mistake because I was having a covenant crisis identity. Now I am stuck in a covenant I hate for another 2 weeks

"You will lose access to all of your previous Covenant perks immediately upon switching This includes abilities, Sanctum progress, transmogs, and Soulbinds, as well as any Renown associated with that Covenant."
Does this mean if I fully complete everything in a covenant and then switch to do the same in the other 3, and ultimately come back to the 1st one, None of the upgrades and renown etc. that I did originally with that covenant will still be there? essentially starting over? It sounds like it but I just want to confirm.

what kind of bad joke is this?
imagine that guy saying "well done" to whoever brought this additional "wait/commitment time" idea to the table. I guess paying money to transfer was too much, but to be expected.

Heres a question I havnt seen yet. Will you be time gated if you switch covenants? Or can you grind all the way to where everyone is at currently?

You lose your deposited anima when you leave a covenant, so make sure to spend what you can.
Spend even if you don't want the items, because I've found that you can then join a new covenant, and refund the anima there.
I bought
活力献祭的回忆
for 250 anima at the Kyrian quartermaster (had 2 hours to refund it), left Kyrian, joined Necrolord, then refunded it to the new quartermaster. The 250 anima is now in my new reservoir!

After changing Covenant, you can catch up with renown by running the dungeons linked to your new covenant. At the end killing the last boss you gain 1 renown.
Best of luck!

I switched from Necrolord to Night Fae. It was my first switch so no "punishment". I hadn't done anything for the Necrolords so was still at renown 1. It's been a few days to a week, but I haven't received any callings since... Is that a thing also? I keep wondering when they will show up. If anyone could explain or shed some light I would greatly appreciate it.

Side note - I changed from Night Fae to Venthyr after I had bought the hearthstone toy for night fae and it still works for some reason, not locked to the covenant.

If you plan to switch your covenant and want to take your ( already stroed ) anima with you, here is how I did it:
I had about 8k anima stored in my old covenant.
I bought
温西尔罪碑
that costs 750 anima ten times. After I switched and unlocked my resevoir I simply sold them ( 2 hour limit ).
I now have 7500 anima in my new covenent resevoir

This is amazing! I can start with the covenant I least like, working my way towards my 4th and final covenant. This way, I can see every single quest per covenant and still end up playing my fav one. Theres never a rush in WOW so I can take my time with it, Soo cool.

Just a bit of info from my experience.
I swapped to Night Fae from Kyrian; I just wanted to try out "The Hunt" for some Arena. Initial swap was instant, as outlined above. Also, I picked up the "Prove Your Worth" for the Kyrian covenant immediately as I planned on swapping back for Mythic+ push week.
I waited until AFTER Tuesday's reset, then I turned in the "Prove Your Worth" quest. Around 48 hours later, the "Regain Our Trust" became available from the Kyrian covenant (my first time to rejoin a covenant).
Once I completed this quest, I immediately picked up the "Prove Your Worth" from the Night Fae covenant in case I wanted to swap back. After the most recent Tuesday's reset, I turned in the "Prove Your Worth" quest to rejoin the Night Fae covenant.
However, I still haven't had the "Regain Our Trust" quest pop up yet for the Night Fae covenant -- more than 5 days later.
I submitted a ticket to Blizzard, but they just auto-responded that I could submit a bug report or search for more information on wowhead.com. I am just waiting... I'll update this comment once I can do the "Regain Our Trust" quest again.
Good luck!
Edit -- check the thread below for a great explanation of how this seems to be working now.
Confirmed that you can swap once a week but you MUST turn in "Prove Your Worth" before each weekly reset.

Up today I started as Night Fae and went to Kirian for a while. Easy enough switch.
I then started the process of switching back as of last week. Did the first quest, waited 2 days and got nothing. It seems that it's 2 days and the next reset. Someone else I know did this switch before me. He started the switch on Monday but got the 2nd quest on Wednesday after the reset not on reset like I did cause I started mine the Thursday before reset. So it seems like "Rebuild Our Trust" makes you wait a minimum of 2 days AND for a reset to cycle.
As for what it's like to come back. I have all my renown I had when I left and I tried to buy hearthstones cause I had 1500ish anima so I could buy 2 and resell them to make back the anima in the covenant I am joining and this still works. I bought 2 and got my 1500 back after selling them back to the new vendor. Another note I kept my Night Fae forms I unlocked before I switched also.
So switching back really isn't a pain IMO. You just have to wait a minimum of 2 days or till the week resets. The time waited is the only annoying part.

One question that isnt answered. How often can you jump to another covenant?
Like if joining Night fae on a thursday and wanting to leave for Venthyr the following week if you already left them once. Starting the prove your worth for venthyr after joining Nightfae to rejoin the Venthyr. Or do you have to wait to weekly reset for that?

I'm a frost mage that orignally joined venthyr then switched to night fae as I was possibly gonna change to fire spec with frost being nerfed so hard. Ended up sticking with frost as I just prefer it, so have switched back to venthyr. Started it Tuesday, did 2 dungeons and a wq to complete the first part, logged in Wed to find the next part was ready to pick up and complete after the weekly reset, so it is defintiely just gated behind the weekly reset. If you plan to change, do it the day before your regions reset and it will only take you a day :)

Please update this article with the correct information about rejoining a covenant in which you already have renown progress. I feel as though that information should be in this article instead of just in some unverified comments. I had trouble actually finding the correct answer as I was googling this issue.
"You will lose access to all of your previous Covenant perks immediately upon switching This includes abilities, Sanctum progress, transmogs, and Soulbinds, as well as any Renown associated with that Covenant." Is very misleading as you actually don't lose any of those things, they simply remain as progress with your previous covenant, and are not carried over to your new covenant. However after switching back to your old covenant, you pick up from where you left off.

If you have progressed your companions/followers mission table campaign and you decide to switch covenants, you will retain that progress on your new covenant. For example, I switched from Night Fae to Kyrian after having progressed my followers' campaign with the Night Fae to 11. When I unlocked the mission table with the Kyrian, the campaign progress was still at 11 (there are addons and some macro that can show you what level you are in).
Also, followers like Croman and Meatball (not sure if there are others) will move with you to your new covenant and retain their level.

Be aware, If you are switching covenants and buying items from your old covenant to sell for anima in your new covenant, any pets you buy are covenant exclusive.
You should definitely sell them back and not think "Oh, it's so cute I'll keep it and have this nice pet." because you will not be able to use the pet once you switch.

This needs to be updated. There is so much confusion on how this works and even Blizzard's support site on this doesn't seem to be correct.
"Late in Beta and early in Shadowlands, there was a method by which you could game the system so it could take under 24 hours to switch to a previously-joined covenant, based on gaming the weekly reset. However, this mechanism has been removed, and it will take longer to rejoin."
"After you have completed your quest Prove Your Worth, you will be told by the faction leader that they need to discuss your worthiness to rejoin. Until then, the next quest, Rebuild Our Trust, is not available. This is at least a 2-day wait, by reports of players who have done this, but incoming data is not yet clear on exactly how long this is. Please comment below if you have any data to report on this."
"While these are weekly quests, they are no longer tied specifically to the weekly reset, but rather have an internal timer of their own. Thus, raiding on the day before reset and switching your covenant in time for a Mythic+ the next day by gaming the weekly reset is no longer an option."
I can confirm this isn't true, and the quests becoming available are tied to weekly reset. Whatever they changed they reverted it apparently. I know from multiple players who do a lot of covenant switching that they do Prove You Worth on the day before reset and get Rebuild Our Trust the next day. I also put in a ticket because I was getting so much different information when I rejoined the Necrolords and support told me the quests are tied to weekly reset. So there is no 2 day waiting period for anything it seems.
This is what Blizzard support has on there help page:
"If you would like to rejoin a covenant, speak to the emissary of the covenant you'd like to rejoin in Oribos:
The Kyrian of Bastion: Polemarch Adestres
The Necrolords of Maldraxxus: Baroness Draka
The Night Fae of Ardenweald: Lady Moonbery
The Venthyr of Revendreth: General Draven
After speaking with the emissary, there is first a two-day waiting period while the covenant decides whether they'll give you the option to take you back.
"Once they have decided to re-accept you, you'll need to prove yourself to that covenant again by completing a weekly quest chain starting with Prove Your Worth. These weekly quests must be completed to officially leave your current covenant.
When you start proving your worth to a covenant, you will not be able to choose a different covenant again until you complete the questline for the first one you chose.
If you were unable to accept the quest Prove Your Worth due to a full quest log, clear out some quests and return to the emissary.
Consequences
All Covenant specific benefits of the current covenant will be lost when joining a different covenant as they do not convert. this includes abilities, appearances, soulbinds, and Renown.
Renown earned with a covenant does not convert to your new covenant.
If you are returning to a covenant you allied with before, you will continue gaining Renown from where you previously left off with them."
So I am not blaming Wowhead for not knowing everything going on because Blizzard doesn't even have it right, and that says it was updated 6 days ago. There is no 2 day waiting period after you talk to the NPC before getting the Prove You Worth quest, you don't lose all the things you got when you leave, you just can't use them but get them all back if you decide to rejoin, AND alts have access to them if they join that covenant. It also says you talk to Draka which isn't the case, even Wowhead has this wrong here it's actually Secutor Mevix. Blizzard doesn't even mention Rebuilding Our Trust.
Sorry for the long post, but rejoining a covenant became a super frustrating experience for me because every thing I read, and was being told by different players was different. This isn't a Wowhead flame post, because like I said, Blizzard's own support site doesn't even have the right information. Hopefully this helps. This is the kind of thing that upsets players when Blizzard doesn't give players a clear path or even tell them at all how some of these systems work, so it makes places like Wowhead even harder to correctly and accurately made guides for players.

In regards to your recommendations for how to Reclaim Banked Anima, it's worth noting that people who have just turned level 60 will not be able to do this. The covenant hearthstone and armor are locked behind Renown level 11 and Covenant Campaign level 3 respectively. Unfortunately, any deposited reservoir anima cannot be used for any purpose at all and is simply lost for those who wish to change covenants immediately upon turning level 60.
This is seriously bad game design. Anima is a currency. If you take the Choose Your Fate option, they give you lots of world quests that earn anima between level 50 and 60. However, you're not allowed to spend it because there's nothing to spend it on. The only purpose your covenant serves between level 50 and level 60 is a place to store the anima. The covenant serves no other purpose at all. Having stored it, this currency disappears upon switching covenants.
Blizzard could have handled this a number of different ways. Your first quest at level 60 could take you to Oribos where you would reconfirm your original choice or switch without a penalty. Or there could have been temporary storage in Oribos until you finalized your covenant choice after turning level 60. Or they could simply treat this currency like all other currencies and switching covenants doesn't matter at any point. Any way you look at this, encouraging players to earn anima from 50 to 60 then taking it away without even allowing it to be of an benefit at all makes no sense.

If you are
switching covenants in 9.1
,
the two-resets requirement starts afresh
. So you get an instant switch to each covenant, even if you've previously defected from that covenant in patch 9.0.
So for me that means I have just returned IMMEDIATELY from Kyrian to Night Fae where I had been Renowned 40 in patch 9.0 but defected, and I've had no need to do the Prove Your Worth and Rebuild Our Trust quests spanning one reset. From here though, the covenant NPCs in Oribos are requiring me to do the Prove Your Worth quest to return back to Kyrian (since I defected from that covenant in 9.1 not 9.0). Meanwhile, yes, everything in my original covenant Night Fae is how I left it (Renown L40, Anima still there, Redeemed Souls still there, etc).
I learnt the hard way, thinking I was just doing the week 1 of the process and have now got one more week of achievements left to do on my other covenant!

Moving the goal post after folks have selected a cov, did the hard grind for reknown, conduits and conduit levels and even cov specific legendaries is flat out garbage design. I know this post is not helpful or productive, but it is in line with such system design so here we are.

This article states that you have to wait until the weekly reset for Rebuilding our Trust, however a quick search of bnet says you have to wait 2 days.
"After speaking with the emissary, you will have to wait two days for the Covenant to decide if they want to take you back. Once you are accepted back, you'll need to prove yourself to that Covenant again by completing a weekly quest chain starting with Prove Your Worth."
Does anyone know which is accurate?

If you have Grateful Offerings you can also buy the armor pieces that cost 3500 Anima and 10 Grateful Offerings. You get it all back when you sell it to the new Covenant vendor, including the Grateful Offerings. I had to move some 50,000 Anima to a new covenant and buying 100-Anima pieces wasn't possible because of bag space. But buying the 3500-Anima pieces meant only 14 bag slots and 140 Grateful Offerings (all refunded later).

Certain followers ALSO move to the new covenant at the same level they were in the old covenant. So if you have them at level 60 your new covenant's troops will immediately and forever also level 60 before you even earn a single level 1 follower in that covenant.
The two that I know follow you to the new covenant are Croman and Meatball. So get those two to level 60 as soon as possible, no matter what covenant you are in.

please @Wowhead check the "Reclaim your banked anima" thing, because i don't think that works anymore. Just did it, and the new covenant vendors wouldn't buy back the stuff i bought in my old covenant. they would give me gold, and not anima, for the armor, and wouldnt buy me the hearthstone toy at all, not even gold, so i think you should re-check that.

Whilst the guide is relatively up to date with what works and doesn't, here are the most important aspects when swapping in short:
Covenant currencies (souls/Anima) are
per covenant
but do stay.
Sanctum upgrades stay and continue progressing.
Missions are
not
retained and the board changes, with the exception of special missions (Maw/campaign).
Covenant quests are removed.
Tl;dr, only mind your missions and possibly Covenant quests when swapping. Anima per covenant can be circumvented via
旅行者的心能宝箱
: there's no reason not to put all Anima in these, and you can unlock Sanctum upgrades leisurely as you're only limited by Anima (which, mind you, is a lot in total).
After swapping around some more to do the other three minigames (I've maxed out the Ember Court pretty much) I noticed that single time quests, weeklies and dailies were consistently removed. The only quests that seem to remain are the 'unlock this minigame to this level'. Worth of note, given you probably don't want to swap if you're halfway through a quest that forces you across whole of the SL.
All of this was tested in the current live version by myself: I have all four Renown on 80 and I just took the leap of faith to swap around whilst the sanctum upgrades and minigames were in progress.

Uh-huh. And exactly where does one find these mysterious NPCs in order for one to dump a covenent one didnt want but was tricked into taking because there's never a warning at the top of idiotically named quests like, 'If You Want Peace'?
As unbelievably wordy and irritating as Wowhead is, one would think it could at least manage to give relevant details instead of vague, wafty mentions like 'just go to the npc'...and useless info like 'anima caches' and 'effects of switching covenants' and 'signature abilities' and blah blah blah.
New players haven't got a freaking clue what any of that rubbish is - as I've just discovered for myself trying to help one out.
No, it's no good asking Activision - they literally haven't got a clue - they turn to wordy wowhead for answers.

Guide needs to be updated. 9.1.5 made it so you CAN use transmogs after switching. Does this apply to Mounts as well?
Players who reach 80 Renown with any Covenant will be able to freely switch among any of the four Covenants without cooldown or restriction. In addition, cosmetic rewards that have been earned from a Covenant with which the player has reached 80 Renown may be used even if that character is currently a member of a different one. Both the Covenant switching and the use of cosmetic rewards will also apply to alts once the Renown threshold is reached on any character. Example: A player with a Night Fae Druid at Renown 80 can use appropriate Night Fae cosmetics on their Rogue, even if the Rogue is a member of the Necrolords.

As of 9.2.5 (time of this post) the leaders are no longer in Oribos after you picked your covenant. There is no longer a way to switch.

After grinding Avowed rep to Exalted on my main (Kyrian Renown 80), I was able to switch in Oribos to Venthyr without taking any quests, wander over to the Avowed Quartermaster, buy the mount and the ensemble, then run over to the Kyrian rep and switch back in minutes. My soulbind in Kyrian was reset to Pelagos (first in the list) rather than Mikanikos, but everything else appears to be just as I left it.
