Arms Warrior Raid Strengths
Very mobile and able to avoid downtime which would otherwise reduce performance.
Exceptional two target cleave and strong burst AoE damage on a relatively short cooldown.
Overall damage boost during the Execute phase (<20%).
On-demand defensive talent with no cooldown can be exceptionally useful in many situations.
Arms Warrior Raid Weaknesses
Highly dependent on extended damage windows created by Colossus Smash and Test of Might, which are prone to failure when switching targets or interrupted by mechanics. Likewise reliant on increased damage during the Execute phase.
Long cooldown on primary defensive, while talents sacrifice damage output for survivability.
Lack of self-healing, which can be problematic in encounters with constant incoming damage.
Ny'alotha Bosses and Tips
Ny'alotha the Waking City is the fifth and final raid in Battle for Azeroth, in which players take the fight to N'Zoth in the dreaming city of the Old Gods! With a large gauntlet of 12 bosses, Ny'alotha contains new Azerite, several powerful trinkets, and weapons with guaranteed corruption effects which you can learn more about in our
Ny'alotha Overview
.
This page has contains Arms Warrior specific tips and recommendations for each encounter, along with the statistics provided by
WarcraftLogs
to show the most frequently used Azerite, Trinkets, and Talents in order to help you excel and maximize your performance. For full strategy guides covering every boss in Ny'alotha the Waking City, we have detailed guides written by
FatbossTV
, with specific information for handling all raid mechanics, separated by role, and broken down by difficulty; covering LFR, Normal, Heroic, and Mythic.

Choosing Essences
Each boss section includes suggested Talents and Essences, but there is a lot of leeway in using them, which may cause you to deviate depending on your particular preference or group strategy. Please note the minimum rank in the tooltip and refer to the
Fury Warrior Essence Guide
for more information.
Majors
lacks burst AoE potential but synergizes extremely well with
and
, and is the best single target and general use Essence available.
Minors
is one of the strongest minor options due to Arms emphasis on Haste for maximizing Lucid Dreams and Test of Might. It can be maintained through AoE so long as the primary target is still being hit, though can be problematic on encounters with hard target swapping.
is the other strongest single target Essence, though may be surpassed by other options until Rank 3 which can take quite some time.
It also offers 10 corruption resistance at all ranks, but that should only be prioritized when it pushes the player below a negative effect threshold (0, 20, 40, 60, or 80 Corruption).
is strong against both single and multiple targets due to being easy to maintain and the high number of non-class damage sources it buffs. Also offers a minor defensive benefit useful in fights with a lot of rot damage.
is one of the primary multitarget minors, but also very effectively in single target against aberrations.
is the other multitarget minor of choice when not also using the Major, as it is not beholden to RPPM and can stack very quickly via cleave.
is a moderate single target choice, though it loses value when multiple targets are present.
can be a very strong choice, but only when stacked with other players using it, and suffers when forced to spread out or frequently move around. With enough players, movement can be mitigated by frequency of creating new Lifeblood Shards, but it becomes a weaker choice at anything under 80% uptime on 4 stacks.

Wrathion, the Black Emperor Arms Warrior Tips
Simply walk out of the circle during Gale Blast and Charge back in. Heroic Leap can also be used, but isn't really needed.
Heroic Leap is useful for both handling Incineration as well as getting away from Wrathion at the start of phase 2 and back to the boss when he lands again. Bounding Stride will help reduce the cooldown enough to handle back to back Incinerations.
Warbreaker and Cleave are both viable options against
spawns in Phase 2, depending on the speed at which your group defeats them. They spawn roughly every 3m which lines up well with Bladestorm, but you will likely have a hard time building up Test of Might and still having a large number left to Bladestorm, likewise, if targets die too fast, you won't be able to hit three at a time with Cleave, so it may be a better choice to Warbreaker into Bladestorm early in order to hit more targets despite not building Test of Might.
During the first phase, Bladestorm will also remove stacks of
on
Mythic difficulty, just ensure the cooldown will still be available for Phase 2.

In Phase 2,
will reflect damage done back to you, so be
extremely
careful and save Die by the Sword when bursting with cooldowns. Impending Victory is surprisingly rage efficient, and can be considered as an extra heal to help keep you alive, especially during the Execute phase.

You need to both get far away from the raid when afflicted by
and quickly get away from the add once it spawns after the debuff drops, so you likely want to Heroic Leap away and Charge back.
Adds can be positioned just close enough to the boss in order to Sweeping Strikes, in which case Collateral Damage is by far the best talent choice.
There is a lot of incoming damage in Phase 3, which Arms is not very well equipped to deal with. Smart timing of Defensive Stance can mitigate a great deal without much damage loss so long as you avoid using it during Colossus Smash or Test of Might.

Lots of multitarget cleave, which makes Purification Protocol a strong minor, despite everything classified as Humanoids or Beasts rather than Aberrations.
Add waves spawn roughly every 70 seconds, which line up well with Warbreaker into Bladestorm reduced by Anger Management. Cleave can be a potential option if the targets live long enough to build Test of Might stacks and then use Bladestorm, but that will largely be dependent on your group. Purification Protocol Major also lines up very well, but may be overkill on adds and will severely inhibit Arms' boss damage.
Aside from AoE damage from Warbreaker and Cleave, Collateral Damage is a potential talent choice if prioritizing boss damage, as two bosses are stacked up for roughly half of the encounter. This may not lead to the highest raw DPS, but will
significantly
increase boss damage, if adds are already covered by the rest of the raid group.
Bosses switch between being stacked up and separated. Be aware of the timings, and don't use cooldowns right before one is going to be pulled away or back together.

.
Rank 3 Ripple in Space minor can be surprisingly effective due to frequent movement and target switching, which can't always be covered with Charge and Heroic Leap alone. Well coordinated groups might counter this with group movement speed buffs, in which case any minor essence of choice can fill the final slot (Breath of the Dying, Crucible of Flame, or Memory of Lucid Dreams; avoid Iris due to frequent target swapping).
The boss cannot be damaged effectively unless debuffed by
, adds should be focused until that time.
The amount of short term target swapping and constant movement does not favor Arms emphasis on long damage windows, but it could be an effective boss damage dealer, so is likely a better candidate for picking up orbs than taking down adds.

is still worthwhile, due to free cleave between the boss and Ascendant.
Warbreaker will lead to greater Cultist damage, but they aren't particularly important or difficult to kill, making it mostly pad. The majority of the encounter will have two near-constant targets, however, so Collateral Damage will

Lots of priority adds and a lot of movement throughout the encounter.
Warbreaker and Cleave both look attractive, depending on how well adds are stacked and how quickly they die. Warbreaker has better mass burst potential, but as long as three or more are together for extended periods of time, Cleave can easily pull ahead.
Essence of the Focusing Iris is a weaker pick in Phase 1 due to frequent target swapping, though it is possible to maintain the effect if initially stacked on the boss and it is continually hit with AoE.

Collateral Damage would appear to be the best choice due to continually stacked targets in Phase 1 and 2. Iris is again a weaker choice due to the frequent target swapping, though it is possible to maintain it during Phase 1.

Notable Ny'alotha Gear
Ny'alotha includes several pieces of gear of have special effects that may influence your gearing or gameplay as discussed below. Make sure to visit the
Arms Warrior Gear Guide
for the full Best in Slot list including Azerite.
Corrupted Gear
Corrupted items
can be obtained from all content rather than only Ny'alotha, but play a big role in optimizing performance, as many of the effects can be very powerful at the cost of potentially debilitating side effects. Dealing with these effects can also play a major role in encounter strategy, so pay particular attention to your level of corruption and reference the boss tips listed above.
Exactly how much corruption you want to stack or what corrupted pieces you want to use is dependent on what you have available to you, and you can read up more about Corruptions, how they work, and which are best for your Fury Warrior in our
Fury Warrior Corruption Guide
, but here are a couple Corruptions to watch out for:
/
- Both are currently overtuned and inordinately strong, making them very useful for the time being.
- The best statistical corruption, which works well in all forms of content and synergizes extremely well with Test of Might/Lucid Dreams.
- Has a fairly poor Corruption:Damage ratio in Single Target, but ramps up considerably against multiple targets, making it very good to use in Mythic+ Dungeons, Islands, and other content with constant multiple targets. Highly recommended to have this Corruption on a piece of gear that can be switched depending on the type of content. The Ny'alotha raid weapon
always comes with a Tier 3 version of this corruption.
Ny'alotha Weapons
Besides random corruption effects, weapons from the new Ny'alotha raid also have exclusive effects on them, which can be quite powerful. Similar to random corruption effects, if you obtain a weapon with a subpar effect, you can always cleanse it. As a Fury Warrior, you can obtain weapons with the following effects:
always comes with Tier 3
, which can be strong in AoE but doesn't have the best damage to corruption value in single target. Because the weapon drops from N'Zoth, it is 10 item levels higher than other raid gear of the same difficulty, making it the best main hand weapon in the game, though you will most likely want to cleanse it and take better corruptions elsewhere.
always comes with
, which post buff is roughly equal with Twilight's Devastation in terms of damage per corruption. Useful for Mythic+, or if you don't have any other competitive corruptions, but not as useful for Warriors as Blood Death Knights.
Finding your Best Next Upgrade
While it is important to know how your gear should look like at the end of the tier, the next step is almost as important. With that in mind,
Raidbots
have created a tool to allow you to plan for your near future: the
Droptimizer
. The Droptimizer simulates your current gear against every single other piece of gear in a raid or dungeon, showing you which pieces would provide the largest immediate DPS upgrade for you.
That said, it is not a tool focused on finding your best-in-slot items from the new raid. The Droptimizer only looks to one item at a time, finding you which pieces are the largest upgrade, compared to your current gear. With that, the Droptimizer also calculates which bosses offer the best odds in providing you with a strong upgrade.
Note: the Droptimizer ignores Titanforging mechanics
.
Simulate your Character with the Droptimizer
Note that
SimulationCraft
,
Raidbots
, and the Droptimizer are community tools created and maintained by players like you and are only functional for DPS purposes.
Raid Tools and Analyzing Your Performance
There are many ways to getting better at raiding, and while understanding the encounter and your specialization's role within it is one of the most important ones, being able to review your performance will help you better understand what is happening, what went right, and what went wrong.
Logging is a powerful tool which allows you to make a record of everything that happened during an encounter.
WarcraftLogs
uses that record to create analytical charts detailing the positioning, damage dealt and taken, who had which buffs and debuffs, even a full real-time replay of the entire encounter. Check out our full
WarcraftLogs Guide
to see what the number one raiding resource can do for you.
WoWAnalyzer
is more personal. It uses the same WarcraftLogs report to create a detailed analysis of a single player's performance, with less emphasis on what happened during the encounter and more tailored to improving that specific player's rotation, cooldown use, survivability, and role (tanking, healing, damage dealing). Give our
WoWAnalyzer Guide
a read, and find out how it can help you improve.
Raidbots
is a simulation site, which allows you to simulate your character under a variety of conditions, create stat weights, compare gear choices, talents, and much more. It is a web interface for SimulationCraft, a long-running simulation project maintained by prominent community theorycrafters, made even more accessible through the simplicity of Raidbots format and dedicated servers. See our detailed
Raidbots Guide
to learn more.
