Holy Paladins utilize direct healing and low mana costs to sustain themselves and their allies in battle. Predominantly reactive healers, Holy Paladins focus on quickly restoring party and raid members to full life before moving to the next wounded ally. Their single-target, direct healing style is simple to learn but requires deep understanding to truly master. Holy Paladins are often a staple of raiding compositions thanks to their utility and consistent healing capabilities.
Strengths
Mana efficient
: Holy Paladins have always been a healing class that excels at being mana efficient. Almost all basic healing abilities have low mana costs and are spammable.
Excellent Tank healers
: Beacon of Light allows Paladins to passively heal the tank while healing other members of a party or raid.
Utility
: The Paladin's Blessings are tremendously useful while raiding. Blessing of Protection and Divine Shield are often means to nullify potential deadly threats both to themselves and their allies.
Reliable
: Paladins bring very steady and consistent healing due to their low mana costs.
Durable:
Plate Armor, Divine Shield, and Blessing of Protection allow Paladins to persevere a lot of dangerous situations.
Weaknesses
Low throughput
: Paladins have very little in their arsenal that allows them to heal the entire raid at once. What little area-of-effect healing the Paladin does have has a very limited range.
Immobile
: The only movement speed increase Paladins have is the talent, Divine Steed. Paladins do have a few instant-cast abilities to use when moving, but outside of Divine Steed, they move very slowly.
Low skill floor
: Paladins are notoriously uncomplicated. There are plenty of areas in which to master the Holy Paladin, but the base healing style can be considered dull by many players due to its simplistic nature.
Changes from Warlords of Draenor to Legion
The biggest change to Holy Paladins from Warlords of Draenor to Legion is the change to our

. Our new mastery increases the effectiveness of our healing based on our proximity to whomever we're healing; meaning we'll spend a portion of our time near the boss with Tanks and melee DPS. This also means that we won't have any absorption-based healing.
The second biggest change is the removal of Holy Power. We no longer have any form of builders or spenders. As such, Word of Glory and Eternal Flame were removed, but Light of Dawn remains as a baseline ability with a 12 second cooldown that is reduced by haste; though Light of Dawn has reverted to being a frontal cone like it was in Cataclysm.
Another big change to all healers is the removal of Spirit as a stat. All healers recover 4% of their maximum mana every 5 seconds. There are a few trinkets that allow you to recover mana in various ways, but we should be seeing much less change in how to manage mana over the course of the expansion.
Our only new baseline ability is Light of the Martyr, an instant-cast heal that sacrifices a portion of the healing as self-inflicted damage.
Talents
Tier 15
Raids:

is the default choice for most encounters in raids. The 5-second delay requires foresight, but this ability gives great healing for a very low mana cost.

has uses in dungeons where you can spend a good amount of time using

Raids:

is a great choice when the raid group is spread out. You can take
If you happen to be clumped for a large majority of the time and you have a specific plan for when to use it; it's not great for lots of small movement.

helps you avoid a lot of dangerous ground effects in dungeons and

has a diminished effect in a dungeon setting.
Tier 45
This tier hasn't changed very much. All of these talents help with some form of crowd control and have very few uses in raids.
works well if you take

often in dungeons or while soloing.

can be nice against groups of casters in dungeons. Choose whichever talent best fits your situation.
Tier 60
Raids:
is the best choice for raiding. Raid-wide damage reduction from

is very powerful for any heavy-hitting boss mechanic.
works as a decent raid cooldown with
光环掌握
, but the passive effect will leave you at reduced health levels for very minimal gains.
Dungeons:

is really nice for it's passive healing. Unfortunately, the

effect for
仁慈光环
is very weak compared to other raid cooldowns and why it isn't useful for raiding.
can be nice if you don't have many melee. That way you don't have to split the damage reduction too much.
Tier 75
Raids:
This tier is mostly a toss up between

is very slightly ahead in pure throughput, but
might be better for longer fights.

might be nice for burst situations that you can make specific plans for, but it's definitely less throughput than both

Dungeons:

, so it's probably better than

can be good for higher difficulty Mythic dungeons where you want heavier cooldowns for trash packs, but

is probably still preferable.
Tier 90
This is by far the least competitive tier.

out of the water for throughput and can turn
into an incredibly powerful DPS cooldown when used with

in dungeons.
Tier 100
Raids:

are both situationally good depending on the encounter or your raid composition.

is excellent when both tanks are taking damage; specifically if there are a lot of adds that the off-tank has to pick up, or on any fight where the boss cleaves onto both tanks.

has the added benefit of increasing your mastery's effectiveness and increasing the healing of
黎明之光
, but you will have to manage swapping your Beacon onto the tank that is taking damage.
Dungeons:

is an amazing addition to our toolkit for dungeons. Holy Paladins have been given a little more area-of-effect healing, but it can still be really difficult to keep an entire group alive when everyone is taking consistent damage.

is amazing for these situations. For those who are delving into higher levels of Mythic+ dungeons, you might need to reconsider which Beacon talent you choose based on the specific affix. Some affixes require much more tank healing and you should take
光明使者的道标
instead.
Gameplay and Priority List
In previous expansions, Holy Paladins have been able to stick to a fairly rigid rotation for healing; this isn't the case in Legion. Some abilities' cooldowns are affected by haste while others aren't. This means that having a set rotation is impossible and we have to rely on a general priority list with a few exceptions. Similarly, without our absorption mastery, overhealing is just overhealing and a waste of mana. We are incredibly mana efficient healers, but you will still run out of mana if you're careless. With the exception of
神圣震击
, don't use cooldowns just because they've come off cooldown. Use them efficiently.

- Use on cooldown without exception. If there is absolutely no damage on the raid and nothing to heal, use
神圣震击
as damage instead.
黎明之光
- Use as often as possible.
黎明之光
has a small radius around you as well as the frontal cone effect, so you don't have to worry about everyone being exactly in front of you as long as you're very close to them.

is much less powerful than it has been in the past, but it's still a strong and consistent tool to help with area-of-effect healing.

) - Using this effectively will take some planning and practice, but it's incredibly mana efficient. The easiest way to use this ability is on a Tank, but it can also be used on yourself before you start using

- This spell is an oddball. If you know you aren't in any immediate danger of dying, using

is our highest single-target healing; however, this doesn't mean we should use it all the time. It's a good ability to use during movement and in high-pressure situations, but the damage inflicted makes the net healing (healing done minus healing needed to recover our damage taken) very low. Do not use this if it isn't necessary.
If these abilities are on cooldown (or not needed because the raid is taking minimal damage), you should still always be casting something. If the raid is taking heavy damage, use
圣光闪现
. If the raid is taking moderate to low damage, cast
圣光术
. If the raid is taking very little damage, cast

and
审判
.
Using Beacons Effectively
If you're able to be in melee and both tanks (or at least two people, not necessarily tanks) will take consistent damage throughout the fight, take

.
If only one tank will take consistent damage at a time (swapping mechanics), take

If you're forced to be with range (grouped or spread). take
光明使者的道标
.
These are general guidelines; not all fights are that straight forward. If a fight requires you to spend some time in melee with both tanks taking damage and then spread out with range, use your judgment to determine what part of the fight needs the most healing and use the appropriate Beacon talent for that situation.

are both very close for throughput, so you should never feel like one is going to make you lose HPS. Your best job as a Holy Paladin is keeping tanks alive. How much overall healing you do doesn't matter if the tanks are consistently dying. Take the talent that lets you do your job the best.
Using Cooldowns Effectively
Treat cooldowns similarly to your normal healing abilities and use them efficiently. Without our absorption mastery and infinite mana, we need to be much more thoughtful about when we use
and, if talented,
神圣复仇者
.
- When paired with
圣洁怒火
,
makes
神圣震击
an absolute monster. You should still treat
as a personal cooldown and not as a raid cooldown. You will be able to heal the raid more effectively, but you still have a limited toolkit to deal with spread damage. Save this for when you expect damage. It's fine to hold on to this cooldown for a while as long as you have a plan for the next time you'll use it.

(if talented)
- This is a good cooldown for a fight with lots of small burst windows. Don't use this if
神圣震击
is on cooldown, wait for it to come back up so you can get off at least three Holy Shocks.

- In a raid setting, this should almost always be paired with
. Use this to mitigate heavy-hitting boss mechanics. The harder a mechanic hits, the more beneficial
光环掌握
is. Coordinate with your other healers about when to use this.
圣盾术
- Immunity to
most
mechanics in the game. There are certain debuffs that you can no longer remove with
圣盾术
, but it will save you from dying in most situations.
牺牲祝福
- This is our Tank cooldown. It's very powerful as a mitigation tool, but it's also very risky. Use this only when it's necessary; using it without any of the other healers knowing could result in you dropping health incredibly quickly and having to use
圣盾术
.
圣佑术
- Learn to use this often. Like
光环掌握
with
, mitigating damage has the exact same overall outcome as healing and you should treat it that way. Use this if you plan on using
殉道者之光
heavily or
牺牲祝福
.
Gear and Stat Prioritization
As a Holy Paladin, you should always be using Plate armor and prioritizing Intellect where possible. In Legion, the only place where you really have to choose between primary stats is on trinkets. These are the best trinkets you can find from dungeons:

from Wrath of Azshara in the Eye of Azshara

from Glazer in the Vault of the Wardens

from Harbaron in Maw of Souls

from Blood-Princess Thal'ena in Violet Hold

was incredibly overpowered, but is now just a nice addition to area-of-effect healing. It might not be the best anymore, but it's still a good trinket. Unfortunately, ranking trinkets is too difficult with Warforged and Titanforged possibilities.
Legendaries
None of our Legendaries are all that spectacular, but some are still worth using over normal pieces.
黑曜石肩甲
- This is really the only Legendary that is actually decent. You should use this even if it breaks up your 4-piece set for Tier 19.

- Not all that great as it will only allow you to use Lay on Hands twice if you use it fairly early during an encounter. Do not break any set bonuses for this.

- Will give you a shield sometimes, but not all that useful. Can be nice for dungeons.

- This is only going to increase the healing of your next two casts and isn't worth using over any of the previously mentioned Legendaries.
There are two other Legendaries that Holy Paladins have access to, but they aren't worth using unless they provide a higher item level and you don't already have your maximum legendary requirement filled.
Artifact Weapon: The Silver Hand
It's important to spend Artifact Power carefully. Each point you put into Tyr's Hand increases the amount required for the next point at an exponential rate. The most efficient use of Artifact Power is to go straight for Shock Treatment and then Power of the Silver Hand:

3/3 Knight of the Silver Hand
3/3 Shock Treatment
1/1 Vindicator
3/3 Deliver the Light
1/1 Power of the Silver Hand

can be a very strong trait but not something you should try to build up for the sake of getting a huge heal. If you're keeping

on cooldown, you won't have to worry about losing the buff with it. The only issue you might run into is using
神圣震击
as damage and then not having enough time to use
神圣震击
again before the buff wears off. While it may be fun to keep track of how much
白银之手的力量
is going to heal for, it would most likely just be clutter on your screen.
For dungeons, using the
白银之手的力量
buff can provide incredible group healing with
美德道标
. All Beacon abilities have a slight delay between a heal going off and then transferring to your Beacon targets; you can make great use of this by pre-casting
圣光闪现
and then immediately casting
美德道标
as soon as it goes off. Follow this up with
黎明之光
and
神圣震击
for amazing burst healing for your group.
Next you want to go straight for Protection of Tyr to the right:

is nice to have, but it's not all that great. We typically don't want to be healing our Beacon targets because then we don't get much out of our Beacons. Unfortunately there isn't anything else that spectacular left for us to spend Artifact Power on, so you might as well pick it up on your way to

Stat Prioritization

Haste
Critical strike will be our best secondary stat due to it's interaction with
神圣震击
and
圣光灌注
. Versatility and mastery are both very close, but mastery can be unreliable on fights where most of the raid is spread out. Versatility has the added benefit of providing damage reduction, but mastery will still outweigh those benefits when your group is stacked, so you should try to maintain a balance of both. Haste is lower in priority; it gives the less benefit per stat and has the downside of increasing the rate at which you use mana.
Stat scaling and item level
In Legion, secondary stats will scale at a slower rate than they have in previous expansions. Item level gains will increase our primary stat (Intellect) by more than any secondary stat. This means that item level gains are going to be more important than the specific stat allocation on an item. This won't always be the case, but it would have to be a very specific change in secondary stats (e.g.: crit and versatility versus haste and mastery) to make even a small item level increase not be worth it.

Is incorrect as of a few days ago. Now it has a 12 second cooldown but it is reduced by haste.
