General Information
When gunning for a Gold medal in challenge modes, there are certain class abilities that can use a boss or mob's spells against them! This guide will outline strategies in each dungeon to potentially shorten encounters and trash packs significantly.

Notes about the following data:
Some of the following abilities, especially on trash, will do some damage but not a massive amount. As such, it's useful using your reflective ability if you are positioning mobs or have no other significant instant casts to use, but otherwise it usually isn't worthwhile interrupting your DPS rotation.
The abilities where the use of reflection results in a MASSIVE benefit are

For each spell listed in the charts below, an ability that is tested and will work is marked with a "Y" (Yes). Any ability that is tested and will NOT work is marked "N" (No). If there is uncertainty about whether an ability will work (i.e. hasn't been tested that I know of), this is signified by a "?".
All damage is listed for Challenge mode values - these are often higher than tooltips indicate (tooltips on Wowhead typically list Normal mode values).
The damage done by abilities can be variable in practice, so the numbers listed are simply rough estimates based on Wowhead spell data.
The comprehensive list of abilities that can be reflected or copied is much more extensive than this guide covers! I have only researched and listed the spells that do a decent amount of damage.
There are other spells (particularly for trash mobs, but also with bosses) that do small amounts of damage that you could potentially use these strategies for.

Grounding totem is by far the most effective ability for this - it is the only ability that reflects damage from the whole party, with a duration of 15 seconds.

The other obvious advantage to using

is that no one has to move for 15 seconds, allowing more sustained DPS time when the

can be dropped pre-emptively to avoid having to move for a little bit longer.

With the
Recount Damage Meter
Addon, you can determine how much damage is being reflected. At present, it doesn't seem that Skada has the same capabilities.
Below is a step by step walkthrough on how to do this.
Click the gear in the Recount window to open the "Config Recount" panel. Make sure you are in the "Data" tab at the top.
Before engaging mobs or bosses that you want to log, check the 4 boxes under the Record Data column corresponding with Trivial Mobs, Non-Trivial Mobs, Bosses, and Unknown
This will record damage data for NPCs, and not just players.
At any point after completing an encounter with these settings, check the appropriate boxes in the Show column to display data in the Recount window
In the example below, the "Bosses" checkbox is what revealed the damage done by

阿里奥克·杜古
and
妮莎·诺克斯
(from the Grimrail Enforcers encounter in

) in the Recount window on the right.
To look closer at the data, simply click on the name of a boss/mob in the Recount Window to open the Detail Window and look at the damage done.
In the case pictured below, clicking on
马考格·烬刃
revealed that the

spell he performed did 255 ticks of damage at 7.5k damage each, totalling 1.91 million damage.
By clicking the side arrows at the top right corner, you can tab through various data sets.
The "Makogg Emberblade Damaged Who" pane reveals that the 1.91 million damage (and almost 95% of his total damage) was inflicted to
himself
(via the reflected
岩浆扫击
).
Scrolling a couple more panels forward shows the "Time Spent Attacking" data
This information is most useful for seeing how long a DoT was active. In this case,
岩浆扫击
ticked on
Makogg
for close to 63 seconds.
In some cases, reflected damage is not from a spell directly cast by the boss, but rather is redirected from a ground effect. In this case the damage is not attributed to the boss, but is noted server side as being done by "No One" (literally). To see this damage, you would have to page through in the Recount Window to "Damage Taken" rather than "Damage Done".
An example of this is the
荆棘之地
spell, cast by
塑地者特鲁
(from the Ancient Protectors encounter in
永茂林地
). As shown below, when looking at "Damage Taken" and clicking on
塑地者特鲁
for details, the "Earthshaper Telu Took Damage From" pane opens up. Looking at the results "No One" did 930k damage to

, and mousing over "No One" reveals this damage was from the Bramble Patch (DoT) that was reflected onto him.
Incidentally, this panel also shows

Another point I thought I'd mention is that that these guides are some of the most entertaining to watch!
Asmongold

Asmongold provides full run Challenge mode guides that are a great adjunct to other guides. He particularly points out mobs and abilities to watch for. Note that these guides date from late 2014, but most information from them is still relevant.
Incidentally, if you happen to check out his channel, Asmongold has dozens and dozens of other WoW videos on a number of other topics.

Hamlet is very meticulous in pinpointing each and every mob, with specific abilities to watch out for, and strategies to handle them. Of all the guides, his are the most detail oriented, and allow you to learn an instance very well. Unfortunately, some of these guides are somewhat old, although Hamlet has in many cases provided annotations and/or update videos to keep the strats relevant.

These are the most current full guides available. Method does a good job of describing certain abilities to watch out for, etc. They aim to provide strategies that are usable by any group/composition; however, some of the strategies they use are not very viable without a DK and strong AoE DPS. Some tips are unique to these videos, so they are worthwhile seeing.

These guides are not full Challenge run throughs, but 2-3 minute excerpts and outlines of the the trash pulls and bosses that you will face. There is no comprehensive discussion of individual mobs for the most part, although some time saving mechanics are discussed in brief.
