Priest is the fastest toon I have leveled and I have 14 90s and 5 other toons that are 87 or 88.
3 of them are 90 priests
Before we start you will see me say things like "quest here" without expanding on that. With the redesign in cataclysm almost every zone in the game follows a very linear chain. If I say "quest here until you hit level 78", I mean to do every quest you get in that zone until you hit the specific milestone.
Levels 1 - 20:
At level 3 you get
SW: Pain
this spell with heirlooms (get
Power Torrent
on your
BoA Weapon
, it scales WAY better than MoP chants) you can walk into an area with tons of mobs and cast SW:Pain on ALL OF THEM and just
BUBBLE
and
HEAL
until they are all dead. you can go from 3 to 10 in 15 minutes. once at 10 you choose DISCIPLINE and then at 15 Q for each and every dungeon one time to do every dungeon quest. Once the quests are all done, the exp is not as good as smart quest hub plotting due to the dungeon mob exp nerf. The only exceptions here are speed runs in
Stockades
and
Ragefire Chasm
with a smart tank you can do the entire dungeon in 3 - 4 pulls. With this strategy you should be 20 within 90 minutes played. Maybe 2 hours if you got unlucky dungeon Queue times. Just Queue as heals and DPS as much as you can while keeping the tank up, I find "Focus Macros"(/target=focus /cast: *spell*) then all you have to do is target the tank and type "/focus" is the best way to do this easily.
After 20 Tips:
You just keep on like this. at level 38 damage you do will
also heal party members
, you will constantly do #1 damage and keep everyone at full health. Avoid long drawn out dungeons more than the one time to do the quests. Dungeons like
Wailing Caverns
are too long to re-run but
Sunken Temple
can be done in 5 pulls thus becoming more exp/hour so re-run the short ones as often as you want. You will find out which ones are worth re-running and which ones aren't the first time you do them.
Levels 20 - 54:
It doesn't matter where you quest as long as the quest level is at least yellow in difficulty. Every zone has been redone and the quests are all really linear. I like to stay a level under my zone with BOAs on giving the fastest kill times & maximum survivability. If the mobs in a zone are 36 - 38, I will go there at 34-35 and stay no longer than 40. Don't stay in a zone you out level by more than 4 levels or so. Zones I would not skip: Both Plague Lands, Burning Steppes, Searing Gorge, Swamp of Sorrows, Duskwood, Northern Stranglethorn, Arathi Highlands, Hinterlands & The Blasted Lands.
Levels 54 - 58:
Go to The Blasted Lands. do all the quests you can until you hit 58(don't forget about new dungeons as they pop up for the quest exp). This zone is FILLED with quests. Tons of quests that will allow you to DoT up many mobs and kill them in packs for faster exp gains.
Level 58:
**NOTE** Before you go to Outland, go to your capital city and learn
Expert Riging
from your flight trainer. This will allow you to fly in Outland and Azeroth decreasing travel time
go to your capital city and learn flight training in the note above then take the portal back to the dark portal. This portal is found in the Mage Tower in Stormwind and in The Cleft Of Shadow in Orgrimmar. Then go directly through the dark portal. About 50 yards in front of the portal on the Blasted Lands side is a quest giver asking you to go
through the portal
and talk to a dude, do this as you're going there anyways so you might as well get the free exp. Any other quests outside the portal can be skipped.
Levels 58 - 65:
Chain run
Hellfire Ramparts
with a solid tank if you can find one, it can be done in less than 7 minutes and the exp/minute is better than questing from 58 - 62.at 62 knockout as many quests in Hellfire as you can find, which will put you at 65.
Levels 65 - 68:
Now go to Nagrand and have a 90 carry you through
The Ring Of Blood
for 2/3 of a level in 5 minutes then do the Nagrand quest chains which should bring you to or very near 68(if you hit 68 before finishing the Nessingwary's Chains, go ahead and finish it, fun and great exp.)
Levels 68 - 72:
**NOTE** Before you go to Northrend, go to your capital city and learn
Cold Weather Flight
from your flight trainer.
Queue for
Utgarde Keep
as healer and do all three quests there then go to Borean tundra and quest til 69 then do
The Nexus
and the 5 quests there plus the dungeon itself should put you at or near 70 at this point go to Howling Fjord and do the quests there. they are faster and easier than Borean Tundra is after the initial quest chain. at 72 you can do 2 more dungeons so do them.
Levels 72 - 75:
At 72 move to Dragonblight and do those quests til you are 74 (At 73 you will get
Mind Sear
this is a game changer, when you are questing switch to Shadow Spec and DoT as many mobs as you can then bubble and Mind Sear. You will destroy massive packs of mobs). at 74 you can do 2 more dungeons, do them and you should hit 75. If you are not yet 75, continue Dragonblight questing until you do.
Levels 75 - 80:
Have a 90 carry you through the
Amphitheater Of Anguish
in Zul'Drak which will take care of most of 75. After the AoA go to Grizzly Hills. 75 - 78 will happen here and it will go FAST. at 76 you get another dungeon. At 78 you get 2 or 3 more dungeons do them all for the quests (Occulus is not the cluster f**k it used to be, people get it for the most part) once the dungeons for wrath are done at 78 you should be at or near 79, at this point chain Q for Black Rock Decent and do the quests and get all the gear you can use from here, its going to be REALLY big upgrades in some departments. Do this until 80.
Levels 78 - 80
(optional)
:
You can also head to Sholazar Basin. This place is A GREAT quest hub but for the reasons of rare battle pets, rare hunter pets and tons of ore, it is a VERY busy zone and if it is a PVP server, you will hate your life here.
Levels 80 - 83:
Go to Mount Hyjal. Vash'ir is a joke when it comes to speed leveling. Very cool zone but it takes forever. Hyjal quests are easy, fast, and provide tons of gold and items that sell for upwards of 30 gold each. You can make 2k - 3k gold in this zone alone. Also once you hit 80 don't forget to Queue for The Throne of Tides instance, no quests but a GREAT dungeon if your tank is smart. A handful of dungeon runs (with all dungeon quests) and the clearing of Mount Hyjal should put you at level 83
Levels 83 - 84:
The same farseer that sent you to Hyjal now has a new quest that will send you to the malestrom to talk to Thrall then to Deepholme. Once in Deepholme quest like a mad man. you will hit 84 in no time flat. Do all the quests here you can until you hit 84 and if you are really enjoying or just want to see a particular chain through to the end, go ahead but don't stay too long, basically get all the quests you can, look at the map and do them in order of what is closest to you at the time. This zone was designed wonderfully!
Levels 84 - 85:
Do the pre-quests in your faction's home city (
Org
/
SW
) and go to Twilight Highlands. Once there, find a group or a 90 friend to do the
Crucible of Carnage
(the third of the ring of blood things) you will get a weapon you won't need but it sells for 35ish gold. It will however get you about half of your 84th level. It won't take but another 45 minutes or less here to hit 85 and then go back to your home city (Org/SW) to be sent to panda land but before you leave for pandaland...
**NOTE**
BEFORE YOU GO, look in the AH for level 83 - 85 gear over iLevel 363 you can put on to replace your BOA and Cata gear. Sometimes these items are priced at 200+ gold. Screw that. Don't buy that stuff. Get what you can (iLevel 415 gear would be best but get what you can. 415 rings and necks are usually cheap and there are iLevel 440 purples that drop from rare pandaria mobs that sell REALLY cheap now. I got the 440 purple pants for my ret pally last week for 90 gold... It is worth checking the AH.
Quick Gear-Up Trick For Pandaria
Once you get to panda land, if you are alliance you will have an advantage. Alliance can run to Pearlfin Village and go to
Silkweaver Rui
He sells all iLevel 372 gear for every slot of every spec of every class. If you are Horde you can also get this gear as soon as you land too but you have to either complete the first 50 quests or so OR run to Dawns Blossom (which can be kind of a pain in the booty) and see
Singegruff
a panda in all white who has the same gear.
**NOTE**
The AH will have up to 390 iLevel green gear for level 85s, the blue gear is 415 and then there are the shields/pants/chests that are purple/440 and if you have the money or find a great deal there are 450 blue helms you can buy on the AH too
Levels 85 - 87:
Once you have your starting gear for pandaland do both the dungeons available for the quests and then only if you have a great tank who can power through it all don't bother with the dungeons other than to complete the quests as they aren't as efficient as smart quest hubs. Now starting with your entry to Pandaria (started in your factions capitol city) just do all the quests you get remembering to do the ones closest to you before traveling for any distance.
BONUS EXP:
In Pandaria there are many rare spawn items. These items are usually a grey quality item that is worth upwards of 100 gold and gives a MASSIVE hunk of exp. When you land in Padaria Horde has access to two of these very near the starting area. Alliance have one. (either faction can get all of them but running for 10 minutes to get one won't be a boost due to the wasted time)
HORDE ITEM 1
HORDE ITEM 2
HORDE ITEM 3
ALLIANCE ITEM 1
ALLIANCE ITEM 2
Get these items as soon as you can, best to grab on your way to pick up your gear mentioned above.
Level 86 Weapon Upgrade
(optional)
:
MOST classes have an iLevel 450 weapon sitting on the ground they can go get. For priests, get in the water in Jade Forrest and run around pandaria towards the Dread Wastes. (if u have a 90 that can go get this its much faster) go to the south side of the island and pick
this bad boy
and u are set til 90 with weapons. Going on your level 86 toon will slow you down since you will be in areas with level 90 mobs and will be unable to fly but I am a min/max kind of guy and if I know there is an iLevel 450 weapon sitting on the ground waiting for me, I will go get it. This 100% not needed but is an option for those that feel like I do.
Levels 87 - 88:
When you ding 87 go to Valley of Four Winds and turn in
This quest you get at Dawwns Blossom
which will kick off the quest hub here, skip the quests
offered by this group of NPCs
just stick with the innkeeper, Chen, Mud Mug and Li Li until you ding 88.
Levels 88 - 89:
At 88 go to
This little grummle
and get his quest to run up the stairs, do as he says except on the way you want to make two pit-stops one at the Stairway to Nowhere and pick
THIS HAMMER
up for a free 400,000 to 500,000 exp then back on the road will be a panda with 2 quests to go mess with the Sauroks nearby. Do them. easy and fast. after this continue up to Brewmaster Boof and complete the quest and do the next one landing you in Kun-Lai Summit.
Stay in Kun-Lai until you hit 89 doing all the quests in order as you get them. if you want to cross the water and do the
Jinyu quests
you can they are good but they wont speed up or slow you down. While they are Jinyu, both factions can do these quests.
Levels 89 - 90:
At 89 take the quest in your
factions respective "main base" in Kun-Lai
that sends you to Townlong Steppes to talk to Taran Zhu. Do the shado pan quest chain until you hit 90, which if you have done everything correctly should be at just about the end of the shadow pan quest chain. If you finish that chain early, do the last 2 dungeons you became eligible for at 88 until you ding which won't be long.
Then, of course, take the first
Chromie-port
to
Obama Island
and collect your free raid gear! (lol)
Ive done this on multiple toons and it never fails to be incredibly fast, easy and profitable. I hope you like it.

Thanks to all that have read this. I need to make some cosmetic changes and a few other minor changes and I will be soon. It was my first guide so there was a lot of experimenting going on!
Thanks again to all that checked it out.

Nice! I actually understood all of this. I'm not sure why, but I found this guide very easy reading, easy to follow. I had to scroll back up and check, yup, no pics at all yet it didn't read like a wall of text. Can't put my finger on what's different, but ... I like it!

Thanks for the feedback guys. I have reformatted the guide to make it less of a wall of text and more of a "click what you need at the time" type of thing.
I hope those changes are better.

If you are a miserly player like me, the idea of spending money on gear while leveling is a little bit of a stretch. I know it is just a recommendation, but many people follow advice from guides. I wanted to add my advice to this as well.
From a horde player perspective, on the point of purchasing iLvl 372 gear by running to the vendor in Dawn's Blossom. If you are averse to purchasing gear, be patient. I don't think it even took the mentioned 50 quests to have 90% iLvl 384 gear. Plus, the guide says to do the quests here. Might as well just do the quests and get up to average iLvl 350-360 pretty quick.
Just my two coppers... which I really only give you on loan... with interest.

What about the talent points? It's not written, at least not for level 15 so far

Maybe I am overlooking it, but I not seeing what talents/glyphs to take as you hit those levels?
Also for BOA do we want 1h + oH or the staff?

A really nice guide.
Have you thought of a tab table instead? I think it would look prettier.
Some pics of your awesome Priest doing damage would be cool too.

The fastest 1-100 guide that I've tried and created, and it's updated for WOD 6.1 I did on stream... 1-100 took me about 14-ish hours.
85-90 is 20 minutes / level average.
I don't want to post links but u can find this method either on my website umren.tv or on my youtube channel umrentv.
There is a video playlist as well and this 85-90 is part 5 in the playlist... It's pretty easy to follow.
For any issues please ask or post comment and I will try to answer asap :)
Brofist! :D

Picked up the Hammer of Folly. It gave no exp to me at level 88. Sold for 100g.
