Healbot Setup (PvP Enviroment)
Note: I don't PvE, but this guide can be used to be setup for a PvE environment as well
Hey everyone!Just a little background, been healing for a few years now and have enjoyed using HealBot. This guide is to help setup the add-on, when you first install it, it looks like a complete mess, but with a few tweeks this guide should (hopefully) make PvP fun for you and make healing more enjoyable. Some people prefer a vertical setup, but this guide focuses on a horizontal positioning. I will go through each of the menu's and explain what each option does. I use shared media in my setup, links in tab below.
HealBot and where to download, I have included a copy of my saved variables, located in the Cure section of the guide
HealBot allows for 60 key mouse combinations to cast any beneficial spell
On Use items can be added
Custom Macro can be used
Set your own custom debuff alerts
HealBot can be used as a decursive
HealBot can be used to monitor missing buffs
HealBot will sync with incoming heals with other healers
Can be used my non-healers, i.e melee can use bandages, battle res and lots more!

1. Getting Started
First off, if your a altoholic like myself, to avoid future headaches and frustration of having to contentiously setup different profiles, lets start off by creating a account wide profile.
Options > Skins > General
Type "accountwide" or whatever you wish into
New Skin
Press Save
1a
Options > Skins > General
Make sure the profile is selected
1b
2. Language
Options > General
Select your
Language
in the dropdown menu and click set
2b
3. Customizing your Bars
Being a PvPer, there is a lot going on, you need to be able to quickly see what is important to dispel. I have gone with a off-white health bar and black background, the reason for this is explained later in the Cure Section.
If you have not downloaded the Shared Media the default textures are just as good, so lets begin by changing your
texture
to whichever suits you, change
No. groups per column: 1
, change your
Height and Width
, I would go with a height and width that is easy to see 25 Raid Frames, you can test this by going to the
Options > Test
.
I have changed the
Health Bar
color to
R 1.00 G 1.00 B 1.00
and
Background Bar
to
R 0.25 G 0.25 B 0.25
, this can be done by selecting the option
Custom
in the drop down menu
Note the
Enabled Opacity
, this can be changed to 100% if you wish, what it does is basically when you are in range to heal someone, if someone who is not taking damage there unit frame will not light up, upon taking direct damage this will change to the colour you have set
Note the
Out of Range Opacity (20%)
, depending on which texture you choose to go with, you may have to play around with this setting until you find which is comfortable for you
Options > Skins > Bars
Play around with it!
3a
4. Customizing your Bar Text
Firstly, change your
Font
to whichever suits you, along with the
Font Size
option.
Because the background is set to white, I have selected
Colour text by class
"
Note - the option
Show health on bar
if you wish to use this, I would suggest using the
as percentage
option, located in the drop down menu. If you wish to use the
Include incoming heals
the addon will show a percentage estimate or health number on the next incoming heal
If you wish to use a different colour on your unit frame, deselect the
Colour text by class
option, located under the
Font Outline
is 3 Bars,
Enabled | Disabled | Debuff
, you can custom choose your own colours by clicking on the corresponding square
Options > Skins > Bar Text
4a
5. Icons
Change your icon size on the slider
Icon Scale
.
Select your
Icon Position
- Left Side means Buffs on Left, Debuffs are on Right, Right Side is the opposite, Buffs are on the Right, while Debuffs are Left
Under Opacity: Always use enabled
, You will see your
Class Options
I would suggest going through all these and disable anything that is unnecessary. You can filter all personal CD's for each class. Example I have disabled all Paladin's
Eternal Flame
as I do not wish to see these buffs, however I play a disc priest, so if you're in a group with another Priest and wish to see who has
Power Word: Shield
active, From the
Filter
drop down menu select
Priest
,
All spells
drop down menu select
Power Word: Shield
, Finally in the
Show Icon
menu select
My Class
. Note this is important, If you select Self Cast's only you will only see your own Shield's that have been cast on the group, this will cause some frustration if you try to cast a shield on someone that already has a shield active
Best thing to do is keep it clean and to a minimum, for example tracking
Pain Suppression
used by all Priests in the group,
Life Cocoon
used by Monks etc so that you do not overlap your CD's with another healer, by doing this you will effectively be able to manage your personal cooldowns
Options > Skins > Icons

6a. Headers
I have chosen to combine these sections together as they go hand in handFirst off lets look at
Header Options
Change your
Bar Colour
and
Text Colour
by clicking on each of the bars to whichever colour you wish.
Next choose your
Texture
,
Height
,
Width
,
Font
and
Font Size
. If you wish to have a
Font Outline
, press the option in the drop-down menu.
Note if you disable
Show Headers
using the
Frame
options you will need to provide a name for your custom unit frame shown in pic 6c, this will only apply if you wish to setup your own healing groups
Options > Skins > Headers
Play around with the options to suit your unique look!
6a
6b Frames
Lets say you are in a BG or even a Raid and you would like to create your own groups specific to roles, i.e tanking group, healer group, focus target etc as shown in pic
6b
As shown below, if you have disabled
Show Headers
, you can create your own name for the group you are creating
This is just a example on how to create the a Healer group as shown above, you can play around with the extra frames and create your own unique healing settings. I prefer everything In one neat square, but the option to create focus frames etc is a great addition to the options available in this addon. For example you are doing a RBG and someone is defending a base, you could add them to your list of targets with custom debuffs enabled explained in the next part, you can instantly tell he that defender is in trouble - i.e Sap or getting nuked (default keybind for this is alt+scroll wheel down). I suggest playing around with the different options you can create, this example shows
Group
and
Healer
I am using
Frame 1 + 2
for this example, with
Frame 1
selected, change your
Frame Scale
,
Font Size
etc
Next do the same for
Frame 2
(accessed via the drop-down menu) make sure to assign the
Frame anchor
s the same, otherwise they will pop up in different places on your screen
Next Click on
Assign Heal Groups
or alternatively you can access this at
Options > Skins > Healing
Using the
up/down arrows
, move your groups as you please, using the drop-down menu, assign
Frame 1
to
1:Group
and
Frame 2
to
2:Healers
. Note you will have to be in a group with some peeps to test this that have selected a healer role, or just go into a BG if you don't want to bother anyone.
You will notice that both these frames have taken to your settings you provided in
Options > Skins > Frames
, its a extremely nice feature to have, just play around with it to suit your needs, if you're a Raid Healer in a Guild, you always have those 1 or 2 people that never move from fire, Create a Group, Call it "Nubs that stand in fire", Fraps it, and shame them!.
Options > Skins > Frames
Add your own name at
Frame Title
6c
Options > Skins > Healing
Organise your group by using the
Sort feature

7 Cure
I have left this till the end because this part is the most time consuming to setup. You can skip this if you don't PvP, but it's worth knowing how to use it if you wish to be able to dispel in a PvE environment.
This section totally depends on your playstyle, I use the in-game unit frames combined with healbot to check for debuffs, however I have set it up that it lights up like a christmas tree to react to certain abilities used
You will need a layout in mind and a color display of what you would prioritize to dispel and or other abilities like stuns, aoe silences etc, for example giving a player
Hand of Freedom
as he/she is caught in some roots, but only to have wasted it as you didn't realise that player was also
Feared
at the same time, meaning instead of wasting your Hand of Freedom, you could of used your Dispel and then gave the player Hand of Freedom to counter the Mages roots who is still trying to kill your team-mate while you go off and CC that Priest/Warlock or for example your up against a Frost Mage/Affliction Lock, your team mate has has the following debuffs on him
Frost Nova
and
Unstable Affliction
, I dispel only to get a
Silence
from the UA, my team-mate is straight into a
Deep Freeze
so setting up a Deep Freeze priority list and dispelling all 3 at the same time will result in better dispel management
My way of dealing with this was too
Set up a Priority 1 "I must dispel this straight away, or when I can" ie - Deep Freeze, Fears, Shadowfury, Polymorphs, since these are dispel-able abilities, I want the unit frame bar to turn a certain color - blue for Priority 1 magic dispels, however I also would like to know if my team-mate that is defending a base is ok, i.e - I would like to be alerted if that player has been
Sapped
or
Blinded
, I would still put these into Priority 1 but changing the bar color to Red for a instant alert on my frame so that I can react and or tell a team-mate to rush to his/her aid before we loose that base, I also have Silence debuffs set to Priority 1 such as I can tell instantly when people are standing and rooted in a
Solar Beam
For my Priority 2 setup I choose to go with alerts for that caused AOE debuffs such as
Earthgrab Totem
,
Shadowfury
, I also wanted to be able to see for example if a player might be stuck in
Asphyxiate
and or
Necrotic Strike
For Priority 3 I went with just the usual magic dispels
Priority 4 tells me when someone is suffering from a Disease effect, DK's dots etc. I did however put
Devouring Plague
on my Priority 1 list, if the Priest is spec'd into
Insanity
you're better off to immediately dispel this to stop that burst
Priority 5 are Poison's
Priority 6 are Curse's
Priority 7 is set to other - i.e
Dark Simulacrum
This is just my way of thinking when I PvP, you do not necessarily have to go about it this way, but having a plan in mind in what you would like to show up will help you in the long run, as the addon will only display
1
debuff at a time. Having lists will help
I will include a copy of my saved variables if you wish to just use my list instead. Check the tabs for the list of debuffs that I use to track
If you wish to use my saved variables
this will over-ride any of your settings you have just done
copy and paste the list into -
World of Warcraft\WTF\Account\AccountName\SavedVariables\Healbot.lua
- ignore the Healbot.BAK file.
List of Spells I have added to my debuff list
Psychic Scream

Options > Cure > Debuff
Make sure your Dispel ability is selected and check members option is set

Adding your Debuff
All I can say is keep them organised, with so many debuffs to keep track off you will end up accidentally putting in the same debuffs twice, use the drop down menu - i.e
M-N
for me represents Mage/Monk
To input a debuff, find out the exact name and spelling and type it into
New debuff
- press save, choose the
Priority
,
Color
, and if you wish to have the bar change color when that ability activates, click the
Bar Colour
option
Keep them organised
7b
If you are using Debuffs that colour your unit bar, stick to a
color scheme
, this will familiarise youself with what is going on and help you in the long run, write down the RBG values and use the
color picker
to help you stay organised
Keep to a color scheme
7c
Your unit bars will change color if these options are enabled, you can also have the option to display your debuffs as
message warnings
Options > Cure > Warning

Almost Done!
Apologies if that section gave you a headache, but if you've set it up good job! All that's left is for you to choose your Spells
8. Spells
This is straightforward to use, on the drop-down menu
Button
is your mouse layout. Apply spells to a click as you see fit
The
Auto Target
functions as a /target "name" command, this is helpful if you like me watch the blizzard player frames, you can have this selected for whichever spell you choose. If it is un-selected you will be keep the same friendly | enemy target selected but you will still be able heal your target that you are mousing over on Healbot
Auto Trinket
will function when you cast a certain ability, works great with on-use trinkets, i.e you could make assign
Divine Hymn
with your on use trinket, or make your own macro and combine it with a potion and assign it to your spell list
Options > Spells
Customise your mouse

If you made it this far reading this, thanks! :D
The other options available that I have not mentioned, ie "Aggro" it is extremely easy to customize if you wish to add it in, I choose not to include it as I don't PvE, but thanks for reading, I hope I've helped in someway and encouraged you to tryout healing, feedback is welcome and criticism, this is my first guide I have written on wowhead, hopefully it won't be my last! I will try to get together a guide for Grid next, another favorite addon of mine :) please excuse the spelling mistakes, I have been writing this guide in the late morning where I should be alseep which I am about to do!
Happy Healing!

Ty so much for the guide, really awesome!
Can you share your new cure settings with a little bit of guidance on what your colors mean? That could be a guide on its own, because frankly I do not know what dispels to prioritize (still a newbie).
The health bar and background color you suggested (Health Bar color to R 1.00 G 1.00 B 1.00 and Background Bar to R 0.25 G 0.25 B 0.25), not sure if that is an option any longer. I used 255 255 255 for white and 0 0 0 for black.

Great guide, even for someone who has been using the addon for over 5 years.
I needed a better way to track my debuffs and this guide gave me exactly what I needed. The default UI is great on healbot, but customizing it is just sooooooo much better.
