In Normal and higher difficulties, Socrethar can be accessed once players unlock the Nexus of Souls, by travelling south through the Halls of the Sargerei into the Amphitheater of the Eternal. During this encounter, players wrest control of the

Notable Trash Mobs
Devouring SpiritDispel this debuffThe trash in the Halls of the Sargerei is very powerful, and players should pull carefully. Crowd control may be desirable in the early packs to reduce damage, as some of the enemies cast very powerful debuffs on players that can kill nearly instantly if an unlucky player receives two stacks.

After all four of these casters have been killed, the Soulbound Construct becomes active and players can begin the Socrethar encounter.

Socrethar the Eternal Encounter Mechanics
The Socrethar the Eternal encounter is a two-phase fight; players first defeat the Soulbound Construct, then turn it against the Soul of Socrethar to defeat him. During this second phase, Socrethar will attempt to overwhelm the players with Sargerei reinforcements while he tries to regain control over the Construct by casting
驱离
. Each successful cast reduces the Construct's health by 5%, and when the Construct's health reaches zero, it will eject the player inside it. The boss will then re-enter the Construct and players must defeat the Construct again.
If the encounter is executed properly, this should never happen; players should only see Phase 1 once.
Phase 1: Soulbound Construct
The aim of this part of the encounter is to kill the Soulbound Construct and force the Soul of Socrethar to emerge.

Any of these strategies are fine. The downside of the first method is that it requires heavy raid healing, and players who are not skilled at noticing and reacting to the presence of a debuff may die to a

cast. The downside of the second method is that the tank may take fatal damage on the 2nd

, particularly if external cooldowns aren't available. The downside of the third method is that running a third tank can be a DPS loss for the raid, which may factor into the raid's success during Phase 2.

was written for groups using the first method, but the second method may be more desirable now in light of changes to the Phase 2 mechanics.
Briefly kite the Volatile Fel OrbOccasionally the Soulbound Construct will target a player with

The Construct will also target a random player for

. Three seconds later, when the

cast completes, the Construct will rush to the target's current location, then return to the tank, leaving a trail of

Players targeted by

will see a system message on their screen to alert them to the ability
The targeted player should quickly run through the Construct so that the

will travel away from the raid, not through it
This will mean the

trail will not constrict players' movement options, and the tanks can just pull the Construct out of the fire with only a few steps
Fel Prison will trap nearby playersAbout 50 seconds into the fight, and again every minute thereafter, the Soulbound Construct will summon a
邪能牢笼
near a random player's location.
Initially, a fel swirl will appear on the ground where the
邪能牢笼
will form
After two seconds, the fel energy will collapse into a rune that will trigger when any player enters the area
If triggered, a

is created that will stun the triggering player, and any players nearby, for up to 30 seconds
Players must kill the

in order to free an imprisoned ally

Finally, the Soulbound Construct will frequently bleed off excess energy by afflicting randomly-chosen targets with

. The affected targets will take heavy periodic damage, and will require focused attention from the healers to keep them alive. This is especially true if a player debuffed with

Phase 2: Socrethar and the Sargerei
Once players have defeated the Soulbound Construct, it casts

, causing the Soul of Socrethar to materialize in the encounter area. The Soul of Socrethar has only two abilities:
Socrethar will cast

frequently - approximately every 5 seconds
Successful

casts will reduce the health of the now-friendly Soulbound Construct
While only 3 players are required to interrupt every
驱离
cast, the raid may be safer assigning additional players as back-up interrupters
If the Construct reaches 0 health, Socrethar will be able to repossess it, and the raid must defeat it again
Approximately every 50 seconds, the Soul of Socrethar will cast

, dealing raid-wide damage
Healers should use raid cooldowns to survive this damage
Portals, pictured together for illustrative purposesWhen the Soul of Socrethar appears, he will create three portals in the room to summon his Sargerei reinforcements. The portals are color-coded to indicate which adds will spawn from each portal.

The red portal always spawns near the entrance, or the exit, to Socrethar's room, while the blue and purple portals spawn at the far ends. Which side gets the blue portal and which side gets the purple portal is random. Approximately 2:20 into the phase, the portals may swap places, as they are assigned new locations from the set of valid locations for each color (e.g. red will still always be at the entrance or the exit, and blue/purple will still always be at the far ends of the room). Blue and purple portals will always be at opposing ends of the room.
Fel Barrier prevents interruptsTwo Sargerei Dominators will spawn during each "set" of portals. The first Dominator spawns shortly after the portals are formed, while subsequent Dominators spawn every minute thereafter.
This is a high-priority add, and players should save cooldowns and resources for defeating it.
Immediately upon spawning, the Sargerei Dominator will buff the Soul of Socrethar with

makes Socrethar immune to interrupts and damage
While Socrethar is protected by the
邪能屏障
, he will freely cast

Players must defeat the Sargerei Dominator quickly to remove the

and prevent Socrethar from gaining control over the Construct
The Sargerei Dominator is immune to all CC effects, including

, and his casts cannot be interrupted
About 5 seconds after spawning, the Sargerei Dominator will cast

on random targets in the raid
This debuff lasts for two minutes and deals moderate damage to the targeted player and all allies within its radius
Players affected by

should move out of the raid to avoid splashing the damage
Approximately 30 seconds into the phase, and every 30 seconds thereafter, the blue portal will summon 6 Haunting Souls. These ghostly creatures will immediately choose random targets and cast

on them.
Haunting Souls cast Ghastly Fixate on players
Haunting Souls will pursue their

targets until killed
Upon reaching their target, the Haunting Souls will cast

, dealing heavy damage to all nearby players and horrifying them for 8 seconds
In order to avoid this, the targeted players must kite the Haunting Souls either through

The raid should position themselves near the middle of the room, but on the far side from the blue portal, so that Haunting Souls have a longer path to travel
Note that if the Haunting Souls come near the Soulbound Construct, the Soul will detonate, dealing heavy damage to the Construct with

About 45 seconds into the phase, and every 15-20 seconds thereafter, the purple portal will summon a Sargerei Shadowcaller. This caster is not tanked, and will repeatedly cast spells at random targets in the raid.
The Shadowcallers'

deals light to moderate damage to all players

can be healed through, but if a player is targeted by another stack of the debuff, it should be dispelled
The Shadowcallers' casts are interruptible, so if there are interrupts to spare, the raid can prevent some of this damage
Ranged DPS, and particularly strong AoE/multi-DoT specs, should focus on killing the Shadowcallers to manage raid damage
Much of the strategy of Phase 2 relies upon the Soulbound Construct pilot using the Construct's abilities well to assist the raid in managing the adds and defeating Socrethar. This player has access to all of the Construct's phase 1 abilities except
压倒能量
. One of the tanks should fulfill this role.

: Deals moderate damage and applies 3 stacks of

split amongst all the enemies in the effect.

: Creates a long line of

, that will slow and damage enemies passing through it.

: Creates a trap that will stun Haunting Souls or Sargerei Shadowcallers that enter it. Sargerei Dominators, and the Soul of Socrethar itself are immune.
Note that enemies trapped in the Fel Prison will take 99% reduced damage.

: Hurls a felfire orb at the target, detonating to deal damage to all nearby enemies.
While a player is controlling the Soulbound Construct, the Construct is affected by

This prevents the Construct from being able to kill the boss single-handedly, but it will still be the largest source of damage when played correctly

One tank will control the Construct while the other tank picks up Socrethar and the Sargerei Dominators
The raid must interrupt as many of Socrethar's

casts as possible; the goal is to avoid transitioning back into Phase 1
Save DPS cooldowns and resources for the Sargerei Dominators, and kill them quickly to reduce the amount of time Socrethar is affected by

Ranged DPS and healers should stack up unless affected by

, so that all the Haunting Souls will travel in the same path
Ranged DPS should focus on killing the Sargerei Shadowcallers and cleaning up the Haunting Souls if they get too close to the raid

There appears to be an enrage mechanic that begins 10:41 into the fight; the Soulbound Construct will gain

, inflicting heavy Fire damage to all players every second. Each time a player takes damage from this effect, they gain a stack of

, causing the next pulse to deal 100% additional damage. This appears to occur whether the Soulbound Construct is friendly or hostile to players, and will quickly wipe the raid.

The DPS legendary ring effect should be used to quickly kill Sargerei Dominator during Phase 2.
The healer legendary ring effect should be used to help heal through

in Phase 2. It can also be used early in Phase 1 to heal up the

damage.
The tank legendary ring effect can be used in Phase 1 to split damage from
回旋打击
while the soaking tank has high
粉碎防御
stacks. There is no particular mechanic in Phase 2 that causes heavy tank damage, but the tank who is not inside the Soulbound Construct will take the most damage while holding the Sargerei Dominator, so the ring effect could be used here. It is not clear how the ring effect will work while the second tank is inside the Construct, though.
Looking For Raid Difficulty
There are no mechanical differences to the encounter in Looking for Raid difficulty.

Mythic Difficulty
Note that on Mythic difficulty, during Phase 2,
Sargerei Dominators spawn once per portal phase
, rather than once every minute as they do on Normal/Heroic difficulties.
Apocalyptic Felburst
Apocalyptic Felburst - run awayOn Mythic Difficulty, the Soulbound Construct gains

, which summons a large orb of fel energy at the targeted location. This orb slowly falls from the sky and will detonate upon impact with the ground.

It also deals heavy damage to all players in the raid, mitigated by distance from the Felburst's landing zone
Note that the Felburst spawning graphic is shared with the

graphic, and either spell can be cast on the melee

impact zone, but it is not necessary to move more than 10-15 yards away
The Soulbound Construct retains this ability after players take control of it, and it can be used against the adds in Phase 2

occurs about 30 seconds into the fight, and every 30 seconds thereafter until players have defeated the Soulbound Construct. To mitigate the high damage from the Felburst, healers should consider using raid CDs (or the legendary ring effect) and players should use their personal defensive cooldowns when available.
Voracious Soulstalker

adds to aid him. The first of these adds is summoned 20 seconds into the fight, and additional adds are summoned every minute until players defeat the Soulbound Construct.
Socrethar summons the Voracious Soulstalker at a random player's position; a dark purple swirling effect appears at the spawn point a few seconds beforehand
Once summoned, the Voracious Soulstalker will fixate on the nearest target, casting

The Voracious Soulstalker can be handled in one of two ways, but both involve a designated player picking the Soulstalker up and kiting it around. In order to achieve this, the raid must be aware of when the Soulstalker is about to spawn, and watch carefully for the spell effect that marks its spawning location. The designated kiter - typically a Hunter - should run to within 5-10 yards of the spawn point and all other players should move away.
Voracious Soulstalkers cast Eternal Hunger and DevourOnce the designated kiter has the
无尽饥渴
effect, players can prevent the kiter from dying to
吞噬
by periodically stunning the Soulstalker.
One option for managing the Voracious Soulstalkers is to simply kite the adds until Phase 2 begins, then kill them with the Soulbound Construct.
Because Voracious Soulstalkers have the
索克雷萨之咒
debuff, these adds can be quickly killed early in Phase 2 by the player-controlled Soulbound Construct
Voracious Soulstalkers do not appear to take quadruple damage from
末日邪爆
, but they take very heavy damage from the Soulbound Construct's melee and
回旋打击
effects
The strategy allows players to focus all their damage onto the Soulbound Construct to end Phase 1 more quickly
However, it does keep players occupied with kiting duties, and requires a lot of coordination of stun effects
Soulstalkers can be trapped in Fel PrisonThe other option is to kite the Voracious Soulstalker into one of the

s created during Phase 1, and keep them trapped for the rest of the fight.
While stunned by the
邪能牢笼
effect, Soulstalkers are unable to cast their

abilities
The first
邪能牢笼
is spawned approximately 50 seconds into the fight, so the designated kiting player will need to use stuns and speed-enhancing effects to stay alive until the Prison has formed
The friendly Soulbound Construct can continue to cast traps on the two Soulstalkers for the remainder of the fight
While either option is viable, the trapping option is tricky
if
your raid is not going to kill Socrethar with a single Phase 1.
Reverberating Blow
Another change in Mythic difficulty is that the Soulbound Construct's
回旋打击
now applies 6 stacks of
粉碎防御
each cast, instead of 3. Using 3 tanks will allow each tank to solo-soak one cast of
回旋打击
, taking 5 stacks of
粉碎防御
(which is the cap). The
粉碎防御
will fall off before the 4th
回旋打击
, so a rotation of 3 tanks will never require any other players to assist in soaking the stacks. The damage from this is very manageable with the tank's own CDs, since no tank is ever taking a
粉碎防御
-buffed
回旋打击
. Alternatively, raids can use healer external CDs to allow the same tank to take all casts of
回旋打击
, or to split the duties between both tanks; this does not require a third tank.
The rest of Phase 2's mechanics and strategy are identical to the Heroic version of the fight. Note that because the Sargerei Dominators have much higher health on Mythic difficulty, Socrethar will successfully complete more
驱离
casts, and each successful
驱离
cast depletes 15% of the Construct's health. This means that the Construct can only take 6 casts of
驱离
; a seventh will ensure players re-enter Phase 1, which will be difficult to recover from. However, the second Sargerei Dominator spawns while Socrethar is casting
天启
, and should be killed during that cast, such that no further
驱离
casts go off.

For Shattered Defenses, the written part of the guide says it increases damage from Reverberating Blows by 100%, yet the text says it increases damage by 200%.

6/27 - Updated the portal swapping information, the Dominator timing, and removed the bit about Shadowcallers being immune to traps since that got hotfixed recently.
Adding this here as a comment because it's how my group did it, and it seemed to work very well, but I'm sure other groups have methods that work well too.
Phase 2: Construct and Adds Management (Updated for 6/30 Dominator spawn hotfix)
The goal of this strategy is to make it effortless to kill the adds and to preserve health on the Construct.
At the start of phase 2, we pulled Socrethar to the red portal, so that when the Dominator popped out, we could start damaging him right away.
We had the ranged stack on melee, except for the players with Gift of the Man'ari.
The Construct would use Felblaze Charge along the imaginary line drawn from the red portal to the blue portal. This positioning meant that ghosts coming out of the portal would have to travel all the way down this fire line, getting slowed and taking damage the whole way.
He would continue to drop fire along this path so that the ghosts were basically killed by the fire.
At the very start of the phase, though, he'd also put a Fel Prison over there. That's because there wasn't enough fire yet to kill the ghosts outright (or get them super low). Subsequent fire lines have to start closer to red portal and end further from blue portal to avoid the Construct going through ghosts and taking Soul Dispersion damage.
The portals swap sometime after the 4th ghost spawn. So once the 4th set spawns, the Construct can stop putting fire along the existing red->blue line, and wait to see where the new red and blue will be.
When portals swap, the raid can again drag Socrethar to the New Red Portal, so that DPS can immediately pounce on the Dominator when he comes out.
Again, the Construct would trap the first set of ghosts from New Blue Portal, giving the raid time to get the Dominator killed and get into position.
With this tactic, phase 2 felt very controlled! We only rarely had to divert our DPS onto the ghosts, and whenever they approached we could just use knockbacks, Ursol's Vortex, stuns, etc., to make sure the ghosts never reached their targets.
We had multi-dotters/ranged swapping off of Socrethar and onto the Shadow-callers when they got near. And players with Gift of the Man'ari would stand between red and purple portals, so that if they were targeted by ghosts, the ghosts would have to cross through the raid to get to them, and hopefully would pass over most of the fire line.

6/30 - Updated the Sargerai Dominator spawn timer to reflect the recent hotfix. Two Sargerai Dominators will now spawn during each portal phase, and raids will have to deal with a Dominator every minute.

7/5 - The Sargerei Dominator now casts Gift of the Man'ari much earlier, so raids can't kill him quickly and avoid the mechanic outright. Looks like it's about 5 seconds after he spawns.
Also made improvements to the Reverberating Blows/Shattered Defenses section, and updated the Mythic guide based on logs of Mythic Socrethar kills.

In LFR, the construct does not have all the abilities. Specifically the Fel Prison and Felblaze Charge. This actually makes the fight harder in LFR than in Normal.
