Recommended Gear for Enhancement Shaman in Dragonflight
What is the BiS Enhancement Shaman gear?
With many different sources of gearing and loot scarcity in Dragonflight, targeting your absolute Best in Slot gear isn't entirely realistic; instead, we've created a Best in Slot list from the ideal Enhancement Shaman drops found in Dragonflight from Mythic+ Dungeons and Awakened Raids to help you decide what to prioritize.
While raid drops are generally the most reliable way of getting high item level gear, many other items can be just as good, if not better, so you should reference the stat priorities listed on the
stats page
to help determine your own BiS gear based on what is available to you.
Archon
can be a helpful tool for seeing what alternative gear options exist if you can't get your hands on the best in slot.
As a rough guideline follow the stat priority of:
Mastery > Haste > Critical Strike = Versatility
. As always,
Agility
is still the most important stat therefore item level increases are
generally
worth it compared to optimized stats. We still always recommended using
Raidbots
to sim your own character, as every character is different depending on the other gear you're currently wearing. We also recommend looking at the Stats page for more details about different priorities for both the
Elementalist
and
Storm
builds.
Overall Enhancement Shaman Best in Slot
While raid items are more deterministically obtainable than Mythic+ ones, there's often heavy competition for the big ticket items and you only get a couple of shots a week to get hold of that perfect piece. Don't ignore upgrades just because they don't have ideal stats on if it's a big item level upgrade, as usually you'll be leaving performance on the table. As a general rule, Enhancement Shaman focuses on seeking items that have both Mastery and Haste on them with a leaning to
Mastery for Elementalist
, and
Haste for Storm
, but ideally both.
Season 4 Note
This was already a problem in Season 3, but in Season 4 it's even more pronounced with the sheer amount of secondaries we get. It's
extremely likely
that you'll begin to hit diminishing returns on our two preferred stats very quickly. Due to this, in the overall list there are some unusual recommendations, done specifically to avoid spending too much of the budget in this territory. This means that the list is to be looked at
as a whole
, and you'll likely see different results in sims until you have the entire package.

Our big trinkets all come from

being the mainstay no matter the content. This is generally paired with

]

Note
that we are scraping
almost 3
diminishing return points at this stage with stats, hense the rise of Versatility and Crit gear.

Gear Worth Farming
Obviously you aren't going to start Season 4 with a full suite of perfect gear. Due to that, below are items worth chasing for each slot when gearing your character in each type of content.
Awakened Raid Gear to Farm
The list below is sourced from gear within the all 3 of the
Awakened Raids
, and assumes you have no access to Crafted or Mythic+ gear. It provides the best item in each slot that you could potentially acquire to fill out your gear when looking for pieces to go after.
This is
not
designed
as a list of what to wear when raiding, and instead should be used to inform you of what pieces you should look out for.

Just like in the season it was available,
]
is still not worth using and definitely not worth farming. Also, as Mythic+ has no natural source of Tier set gear to complete

Best Enhancement Shaman Trinkets in Dragonflight Season 4
In Season 4, there are
a lot
of good options available due to the addition of all 3 Awakened raids, however the Mythic+ dungeon pool is significantly weaker. Since our damage profile for
Elementalist
is an up-and-down cycle every 20-30 seconds it prefers passives, procs or things that scale with Haste thanks to
.
Storm
on the other hand is more volatile, so on-use trinkets are less consistent because of the unpredictability of
windows.
Click to Open Trinket Simulation Comparisons
These numbers are individual trinkets simmed directly against each other in a vacuum - so any synergies or clashes aren't taken into account. The differences are purely how much more (or less) is gained when compared against the baseline profile with zero items equipped. When in doubt, always sim your own gear changes with your own character profile to tailor it to you. This is limited to the
top 25 entries
, if it's not here it's weaker than those listed.
Due to Season 4 bumping our item level
even higher
, your old trinkets are likely to fade out really quickly so picking up new ones is ideal. All of the trinkets listed below are the dungeon trinkets available from the pool, and the best available trinkets (due to their availability on the
vendor).

Notes
S+
]
A powerhouse in Season 2 that got nerfed on the way out, it's still excellent and worth grabbing. Absolutely the best Mythic+ trinket available due to the synergy with
and now
as well with the potential to highroll. Also works great if you don't want to gamble on Brand ramping.
S+
]
Forgotten Experiments
Enhancement
really
likes secondary stats, and this provides them in bulk. We'll always be picking at least one static trinket in Season 4, and this is the most likely to have its bonus effects active within raids. You can use any of the stat bonuses, with
Obsidian
being the best to work with.
S+*
]
This is
extremely
specialized for single target, but once it gets going no other trinket can touch it. The 2-3 minute ramp time might be offputting, but you simply cannot outperform this trinket in any extended encounter. This is a lock in for any difficult raid encounter,
but should be avoided in Mythic+
.
S
]
Extremely strong frontloaded damage that comes with the added benefit of extra damage if one of your friends makes a mistake that you can whisper them about. Adds a priority cooldown and isn't far behind alternatives.
S
]
Primal Council
Icon is just barely weaker than ] due to the fact that Tanks are pretty unlikely to activate their portion of the buff, and it's a little harder to gear around. If you can get one or feel like spending Bullion here instead, it's just as good of an alternative.
A+
]
Council of Dreams
Still a strong trinket like in Season 3, it just has tougher competition up against the raw stat sticks returning from the first two raids. Still worth equipping if you're looking for a passive trinket, but not worth the bullion.
A
]
Serves as a more frontloaded (but weaker) version of ] if you want a damage trinket that's less reliant on ramp and RNG. Similary locked to only really being effective in single target relegating it to a raid only trinket though.
A- / D
]
A trinket that's nearly impossible to quantify. Has enormous uncapped AoE potential (which we lack) but also puts you in extreme danger when you press it (which we can't deal with). Has a niche, is risky, but still a consideration if you have a deathwish.
A-*
]
This is here solely in case we have another season where we need a way to survive. This effectively doubles our defensive toolkit and still brings decent damage so is always on the table.
A-*
]
Much like the above with the bonus of losing less damage and being an external, but provies a weaker shield. Either of these are worth considering.
B+
]
Nowhere near the strength it used to be especially compared to newer items. Still adds an extra cooldown into our toolkit though due to how our Mastery works, so not an awful trinket to use while you wait for Bullion.
B
]
Extremely low RPPM but provides Haste and ample Agility when it ramps. The variance and average value compared to static trinkets hurt this but one of the better dungeon options this season.
B
]
Adds a direct damage effect that also grants a bulk of Crit that we can often overlap with cooldowns. It's fine as a midrange effect, but the minimum range can be obnoxious to play around, so it's more of a stopgap option until you spend bullion.
B-
]
Not a
bad
trinket compared to what it was, but it's a weaker direct option than alternatives, has ramp time and the payoff can fizzle alongside being mostly single target coded with a meteor effect.
C+
:8793]
Jewelcrafting
Idols are the only crafted trinkets worth considering, with the advantage of being able to select the stat you want to boost. Its biggest downside is needing sockets on gear to support it, making it hard to rank higher especially when by the time you reach that point you've probably picked up something better.
C
:8793]
Alchemy
Both Alchemist Stones are extremely basic boosts that, while not awful, just aren't strong enough to pull their weight compared to alternatives, and especially not enough to justify a spark. They've only dropped in performance thanks to the relative power of
remaining the same throughout Dragonflight.
C
:8793]
Inscription
Similar to the Inferno card, it deals solid on demand burst to a target and some negligible off-healing. Its one advantage is that it can Critically Strike, making it the better of the two cards. You should craft this with an
.
C
]
We have no major cooldowns to align this with, it lacks primary stat and the decaying effect plays counter to our more sustained profile, so isn't worth it.
C-
]
The variance in what each proc can contribute alongside the low RPPM makes this weak
and
inconsistent which makes for a bad pairing.
C-
:8793]
Inscription
Very basic effect that's both volatile depending on the card drawn when you want to use it, and entirely single target. This just struggles to keep up with much stronger offerings as the seasons have gone on so I wouldn't recommend wasting sparks on it. You should craft this with an
D
]
There's a lot about this trinket that's just obnoxious. It has a variable RPPM and the amount of real time you need to invest training it to direct the procs doesn't justify the power level. Avoid.
D
]
Even with a buffed proc rate this is inconsistent and deals low damage when it does show up, alongside having the chance to fizzle if things move out of range.
Best Gear to Spend Bullion on for Enhancement Shaman
Season 4 introduces a weekly currency in
that can be exchanged for powerful items found in all previous raid tiers and dungeons introduced in Dragonflight. These items can also be fully upgraded to maximum item level, so they are highly valuable as a way to purchase the strongest possible items (including very rare drops!). Bear in mind that trinkets are at a premium here because the dungeon trinket pool is
terrible
, so raid trinkets are really the only way to go. You can click on the notes icons next to each item for a rundown on the reasoning:
]
First priority of any new season is grabbing a max item level weapon for our main hand. Unfortunately, there's not a wealth of things to pick from and this is the only cantrip weapon on offer. Despite having a drop in secondaries making it a little less valuable than it could be, the proc is still better than the raw stats. The value of this mostly comes down to just how valuable weapon Item level is,
this is always the first pick if you don't expect to get a 528 weapon anytime soon
.
Top Prio
for Raid,
High Prio
for M+.
]
Due to being an item that will be incredibly hotly contested and that it provides a damage bonus that puts it above and beyond any other option, grabbing this with Bullion seems like the easiest route. We have no issues triggering it, and while it's only a single target benefit making it much more suited to raids, it still brings extra value in Mythic+.
High Prio
for Raid,
Mid Prio
for M+.
]
This trinket was incredible in Season 2 and, while it was nerfed on the way out, it's still great for us again. It's much more suited to the ebb and flow of Mythic+, but it's absolutely still an option for raiding so if you're looking to do both types of content and want to efficiently spend Bullion, this should be a priority pick.
High Prio
for Raid,
Top Prio
for M+.
]
Enhancement loves passive stat boosts because its damage is so erratic, so making sure things blanket our unpredictable damage is perfect. The full suite of buffs is likely obtainable in raids (less so in Mythic+) and the pure stats put this up there as a solid pick, and the best part in Season 4? You can pick whichever buff you want, they're all about the same!
High Prio
for Raid,
High Prio
for M+.
]
*
Still as strong as it was in all of Season 3, this is a powerhouse once it ramps up. It's a purely single target trinket but for raid situations there's really nothing better, it just has no real use case for Mythic+ at all meaning you're really wanting to specialize if you pick this up.
Top Prio
for Raid,
Avoid
for M+.
]
*
This is a bit harder to evaluate but it's an excellent extra burst tool that can squeeze in hidden value from those deaths, and it's
much
stronger the weaker your gear is due to its value being so weighted toward the on-use effect. It's something that adds extra texture to your toolkit that you can't find anywhere else, and considering it's really not that far behind other options it only takes one reset over the course of a raid encounter to push it ahead. If you're looking to push damage, consider it (especially because everyone else is going to be rolling on it anyway).
High Prio
for Raid,
Mid Prio
for M+.
]
We have survival issues, that's the bottom line. This is the only real item that directly alleviates that and so grabbing this for the free extra shields it provides makes it useful in any type of content, but especially Mythic+ where we're expected to survive on our own more.
Mid Prio
for Raid,
Top Prio
for M+.
]
*
This is awkward because it does give a meaningful damage bump that you can't otherwise obtain, but it comes at a massive stamina loss to get there. Depending on how comfortable you are in raids and whether or not you feel the survivability hit will be a problem, this is worth it, but don't bother in Mythic+.
Mid Prio
for Raid,
Avoid
for M+.
As an alternative you also have the option of
]
, but the bonus effects are less likely to be active considering tanks don't really want it putting it behind . There's also a few other very niche items that might eventually see play such as the powerful (but dangerous) AoE trinket
]
and the two survival trinkets
]
and
]
, but until we see how what shape the season takes they're more of a consideration than a recommendation.
Best Items to Upgrade with Dreaming Crests for Enhancement Shaman
A continuation from the system added in Season 2 and expanded upon in Season 3, the upgrade system using
Crests
and
Flightstones
continues in Season 4 (explained in this guide). Due to the more powerful items requiring the limited currency of Crests on a weekly lockout, it means your decision making early on can be difficult. A general rule for these upgrades are items you're spending your
on, items you expect to be carrying forward for a long period of time, or slots you don't expect to be acquiring from a higher difficulty or replacing with
crafted gear.
Bullion Purchases -
Quite simply you're purchasing items from that vendor for a reason - because they're the best items available to you in those slots. They're almost always worth upgrading to the max item level as a priority.
Strong Trinkets -
Thanks to this system, no matter the situation if you get hold of something such as
or
, the chances of seeing these on Mythic early are pretty low due to the 3 raids cycling around. It will also free up the crest requirement if you want to invest in some new options for more specific situations if you get hold of them, so is the safest bet for early investment.
Main Hand Weapon -
This is your first priority to get high item level, but you do have an alternative option in crafting if you wish. If you get hold of a good enough option here, it may be better to do this and switch your
priority accordingly.
Lowest Item Level Pieces -
Following key pieces, bringing up the item level of pieces you don't expect to get hold of at a higher item level in the near future to remove the Crest requirement is best. Ideally you should do Helm, Chest and Legs first due to their stat budget, but after that go off sims.
Best Gear to Spend Sparks of Dreams on for Enhancement Shaman
Your
items are required for crafting some of the most powerful Dragonflight equipment, so you should spend them wisely aiming to craft them at the highest possible item level. Note as well that you can always use the recrafting system later down the line if you want to upgrade pieces so there's no need to hoard them if there's something big you can get now. Similarly, you can also use the same recrafting system to change your Season 3
crafted items to Season 4, allowing you to bring them forward with the new
. Much like in early in Season 2 and 3, these are time gated, with you receiving one every two weeks, and can be upgraded all the way up to
Item Level 525
.
While there is a section below regarding
Embellishments
, your
crafts should aim to craft the highest impact item that's least likely to see a replacement from other sources due to their scarcity. Every craft you perform should aim to use a
to guarantee
Haste and Mastery
, unless the piece has fixed stats already present or your stat balance leans you toward a different recommendation.
Recommended Crafting Order
]
- The strongest single embellishment available.
A Crafted Piece (e.g. :8932:8793])
- use
(or
).
Any Low Item Level Piece -
After getting priority crafts, use
to fill out holes in your gear to bring up your overall item level. It's best to simulate your character using the
Droptimizer
to pick out good upgrades.
It's also worth noting that if at any point you're really struggling to pick up a
main-hand weapon
and you have a spare spark, that will always be the strongest immediate upgrade available. If you do, make sure that it's NOT an intellect weapon, a sword, or a dagger as we can't use those. An example piece is - ]
Crafting Notes
]
- everything about how this cloak is designed is something that we'd generally aim to pick up because of the added survivability,
HOWEVER
, the numbers simply just aren't there and it can't be justified.
It still provides a small defensive benefit and an emergency shield (though now very small), and the passive Versatility does make it more relevant in AoE. Unfortunately between how little it really impacts us and the low tuning there's no room to fit this in.
]
- these do sim
very
well and can be paired with
for strong single target damage. The reason this isn't recommended is because unlike some of the other toxic items, a 10-20% movement speed penalty is not only noticable but very dangerous. Since it locks you out of an embellishment slot and may get banished to your bags if you keep dying, that makes it a craft that's at your discretion or for later into the patch cycle.
] -
(Mythic+*)
The tinker slot provided by this lets us get access to
, so the utility of having a combat res when we can use
ourselves is extremely valuable for these situations. The problem is, they clash with ]
so
only
craft them if you
don't
intend to use these
. Use a
or
and
when crafting.
]
- While these have previously seen use, this mostly came down to the set bonuses from
amplifying the follow up window on
so much. Given that builds now (especially
Elementalist
) rarely even play this talent to activate it, it's
not
a recommended craft anymore as there's other options that will more consistently get you value no matter the content.
Best Embellishments for Enhancement Shaman
Using the optional
Embellishment
items when crafting your gear provides small extra benefits to the item should the craft be successful. These effects are often quite minor and mostly considered a cherry on top, your decision on what to craft should (
generally
) be dictated by the slot rather than these effects with some small exceptions. They are limited to
two
, so putting one on for your early crafts is free added performance. Details about each are as follows:
] -
The strongest single embellishment available to us, as both stat procs can trigger independently. Its only downside is that it blocks you from using the
Engineering bracers
for access to the
Combat Res
.
* -
The sheer amount of extra Mastery this provides at this point means the uptime we need to justify using it is often as low as 40% - something that's a lot more achievable than previous seasons. While it's very easy to have it knocked off by self damage effects and boss chip auras, considering some sustain items like
]
are making a return this is the pick of choice. Also does something in AoE compared to alternatives.
]* -
While a
solid
good option, this comes with a requirement of extra gem slots, which means this takes time to get rolling. This is only competitive as a pick with
at least 6
Elemental gems
equipped in your gear, but not before.
(
armor pieces only
) -
just provides a consistent single target damage boost throughout an encounter, but not particularly interesting or gameplay altering.
The
Horizon Strider's
Set (
Belt
and
Gloves
)
- This gives a large amount of bulk Haste, but since we already stack it we're far beyond comfortable diminishing returns in Season 4 gear, meaning it's no longer competitive. Pair that with the 2 spark requirement making it more of a commitment, it's better to pick up the single craft options.
]* -
While on paper flat Versatility and an emergency absorb shield sound great, it's simply far too undertuned to use, even though the effects are very appealing.
(
armor pieces only
) -
This grants a small amount of a random secondary stat with a (roughly) 40% uptime. The amount is simply too low to compete with alternatives and has no strong use case.
(
armor pieces only
) -
This gives a small amount of Critical Strike after stacking. When you drop below 70% you're also locked out of this bonus for 30 seconds, so given it already struggles to keep up with other picks it's not a worthwhile consideration.
] -
Trading out stats we don't desire but can't avoid (Crit or Vers) for Haste or Mastery is a really good trade and this has a fairly good uptime requiring only one Embellishment slot that works in all situations. Unfortunately, it's just not as valuable as other stat procs so generally isn't recommended, especially with the added factor of diminishing returns.
-
While this technically gives no combat benefit, it
currently
does
not
cost an Embellishment slot (despite being added in the same way). Having this helps maintain your food buff in scenarios where you may not have the time to re-use it (dying and ankhing, or Mythic+ as examples) so is worth sticking on something.

How useful are the Bloodmallet-charts for trinkets by now, if I look on the page itself they use Night fae, with elemental blast and elemental spirits, and Wolf Bones as there Legendary.
I play as Venthyr with Forceful Winds, Ascendance and Doom Winds, according to sims thats what talents I should go. But well with the number of possible builds how useful are the charts, does anyone know or should I just ignor Bloodmallet and sim every trinket?
