Introduction to Shaman in Hardcore WoW
Welcome to the Hardcore Guide to Shamans. Shamans are a great class to play for Hardcore. As a hybrid damage / support class, we have multiple tools and skills to excel in this game mode.
Shamans in classic are generally thought of as low damage compared to Warriors or Mages, and for end-game PvE that is true. But pre-60 we are damage dealing powerhouses; expect to be doing great damage in both solo and dungeon gameplay. Our weapon enhancements add huge damage to our melee attacks, Flame Shock gives us the ability to multi-dot, and Fire Nova Totem is a great aoe spell that we learn starting at level 12! While leveling, a lucky crit or Windfury proc will just about global a mob.
For our class, before level 40, about 50% our damage comes from white hits, and 50% from spells. This means that we are not as weapon-dependent as classes like Warriors or Rogues. Being unlucky with weapon drops won’t feel terrible, but getting a new weapon will still be a satisfying upgrade! Additionally, because only half our damage is spells, we are also not dependent on mana and hard casts like Mages. The hybrid nature of Shamans play very well into the hardcore solo-style of gameplay.
Lastly, Shamans are just plain fun! Many classes can feel stale or tedious in their rotations, or completely underpowered without gear. Shamans have a great variety of spells to change up how we play, and as discussed are only partially gear-dependent. Tired of a rotation? Change it up! Spam more lightning bolts, kite with Frost Shock, use Windfury or Frostbrand even though Rockbiter is “better”. Switch to a slow 2-hander or sword n’ board. Shamans have a lot of options to keep the game feelings fresh.

Best Builds and Talents for Shaman Leveling in Hardcore WoW
Shamans have access to two DPS specializations, a caster-focused spec in Elemental and a melee-focused spec in Enhancement. Both are viable to level in Hardcore, although Enhance is usually the go-to for most players.
Enhancement Shaman Leveling Builds in Hardcore WoW
At level 40, our skill build will look like this. There is not much flexibility, with most of the talents being mandatory.
5/5
- our level 10-14 talent choice is between
and
. Shield Spec is the better choice: put simply, a 5% increase to your mana pool is simply not worth the 5 talent points required. Shield Spec gives us more survivability if you decide to run 1 hand + shield. Even if you are using 2 handers, you will want to switch to a shield when in danger, and this talent helps in that emergency situation.
2/2
- reduces the cast time of
幽魂之狼
to 1 second. This is a mandatory talent as Ghost Wolf is not only our travel speed skill, but one of our best escape tools in hardcore. If we are a Tauren, War Stomp stuns the enemy long enough for us to cast Ghost Wolf when talented. We will learn Ghost Wolf at level 20, so place these 2 talent points at levels 19 and 20.
3/3
-
is one of our best damage per mana spells, so increasing its damage is beneficial. These points are flexible, and can go 3/5 into
or 2/2
with 1 point to flex.
1/1
- Allows us to wield 2-handers. This talent is mandatory even if we are going to go full sword and board. We may always get lucky with a good drop, or choose to switch to using a 2-hand in dungeons or against lower levels mobs. This talent can be delayed if we don't get a good 2-hander at level 21.
Note: we do not need this talent to use Staves like the
锅炉搅拌器
or
新月法杖
.
Enhancement Shaman Sub-specializations
After a very rigid talent build up to level 40, we now have a lot of flexibility with how we will build to 60. Feel free to play with any of these builds - use them as a guide for whatever you want to accomplish as you head for the end game!
This build focuses on increasing our spell damage, as well as gaining access to the critical defensive talent Earth’s Grasp.
vs
- This can be a tough choice. Call of Thunder gives us a higher crit chance when pulling with Lightning Bolt, but Reverberation gives us much higher DPS overall when using shocks. Given an Enhancement Shaman's thirst for mana, it is unlikely we will use Shocks on cooldown anyway. Still, 1 second off Earth Shock's cooldown means we can kick 1 second sooner. This will be for us to make a judgement call between the two talents.
This build is much more defensive focused, with extremely beneficial talents at level 50-58 in Nature’s Guidance and Healing Focus.
Blizzard was having a real chuckle when they put 3% hit and spell hit into the Restoration tree. Nevertheless,
is a phenomenal talent, especially for leveling and most especially for hardcore where a resisted Earth Shock might end a run.
This build is also defensive, taking more points in the Enhance tree for more dodge, armor, and strength, as well as getting
in the Elemental tree.
2/2
- This talent is only good for group content, but it is a massive boost to your melee friends. This can be taken if we are grouping with Warriors or Rogues often.
Which Sub Spec is best for Enhancement Shaman in Hardcore WoW?
Sub speccing into Resto will be the safest and most effective build. It gives us some extra self and group heals, extra armor through procs, and - biggest of all - adds hit chance and reduces pushback when casting heals. The last two are massive buffs to hardcore gameplay, and it's a shame that we get these talents so late. But, that just means we get them as we push to the finish line!
Elemental Shaman Leveling Builds in Hardcore WoW
At level 40, our Elemental talent build will look like this. There is a decent amount of flexibility, eg if we wish to cleave pull we can take
and
, or
for some extra crit. It makes sense for us to place 7 points in the Enhance tree for
by level 20, as the cast time reduction on
幽魂之狼
is invaluable for a hardcore run.
5/5
- at level 13, we make a quick foray into the Enhance tree. Our Enh first tier talent choice is between Shield Spec and Ancestral Knowledge. With speccing into Elemental, the mana becomes much more attractive. However, Shield Spec is still the better choice: a 5% increase to our mana pool is really not worth the 5 talent points required. In the early game, when we don't have much Int, it's barely worth one spell. Shield Spec gives us more survivability if using a shield. Even if we will use a staff, we will want to switch to a shield when in danger, and this talent helps in those emergency situations.
3/3
- reduces magic damage taken by 10% for the Fire, Frost, and Nature schools. A very valuable talent, as most incoming spell damage belong to these schools. These points can be flexible and moved into
/
.
Flexible: 3/3
- increases the damage of our fire Totems. 15% is not a game breaking amount, but fire totems can be a large portion of our damage, especially in dungeons. Move points from Elemental Warding for this talent.
3/3
- this is an amazing talent for HC. Upon being crit, you get no push back on casting for 6 seconds. Use this window to cast more Lightning Bolts or a big
.
Flexible: 2/2
- this talent can be taken to buff
and
. These aoe totems are mostly used in dungeons, but can be very effective if talented and used correctly, which is discussed more in the Rotation section. This talent is more effective when paired with
.
At 40, we have the option to respec to move the 7 points we previously put into Enh back into the Ele tree. The reason for this is that the 2 end-tree talents,
and
元素宗师
, completely change our play style as Elemental Shamans.
However! Doing so means dropping Imp Ghost Wolf, our best escape spell for hardcore. Ghost Wolf has a whopping 3-second cast time when untalented! Dropping the talent is a risk, so judge how much you value imp ghost wolf and make your choice.
As with Enhance, there are multiple options for sub-builds, and most of them are flexible and can be changed as needed.
Elemental Shaman Sub-specializations
Up to level 40, our playstyle for Elemental will not be all that much different than Enhance. After 40, specifically after the talent
, Elemental gameplay becomes much more caster-focused.
This build is for continuing to play a hybrid melee/caster style. It allows us to pick up 2-handed weapons in conjunction with
.
This build combines many of the healing talents in the resto tree with the 5% extra crit on lightning spells.
This build gets us back our the ever-critical Imp Ghost Wolf, before speccing back into the Resto tree.
This build grabs all the Enhance talents that enable our survivability. It combines the AoE Fire Totems build with the increased dodge, block, and armor talents. This build excels at burst and conserve killing mobs to keep your up-time rolling. Still, this will be a very mana-hungry build.
This build also works well without the Fire Totems build, as increased survivability is always beneficial in hardcore.
Which Sub Spec is best for Elemental Shaman in Hardcore WoW?
This is really going to depend on your personal preference, as the different builds really change the focus of your gameplay.
The safest build will be the Ghost Wolf Resto. It gives us back our friendly, neighborhood Imp Ghost Wolf, as well as the increases to healing.
Sub Full Resto is also very effective. Having earlier access to 3% hit cannot be understated, and the further increase to our crit chance is extremely helpful for killing mobs quickly.
Leveling Tips for a Shaman in Hardcore WoW
Totem management is the name of the game for Classic Shamans, and that goes doubly for Hardcore.
Always make use of
地缚图腾
and
when running away. The most important thing is to not panic in a bad situation. Drop the appropriate totem, cast
幽魂之狼
, and run away while strafe-jumping to not be dazed.
幽魂之狼
can not be cast indoors. Be aware that this includes caves, so be extra cautious entering one!
One of the best, and most advanced, bits of Shaman gameplay is the positioning of our Totems. The four totems spawn on set locations around the character model; on the four corners of a square where the model is looking.
Earth and Fire totems can be heavily dependent on spawn location. Earth spawns on our front-right corner, and Fire on our front-left. Use this to accurately place totems to maximize their benefit.
Totems can not be recalled in Classic WoW. It is not uncommon for a forgotten totem to aggro a mob, which will kill the totem and immediately sprint at us! We must keep in mind where totems were placed, and if we need to recall one we can summon it again or another totem of the same element.
A frequently asked question is “why do mobs keep killing my fire totem?” When Fire Nova and Magma Totems spawn, they immediately generate threat, and generate more on enemies that are closer. Use Stoneclaw to keep enemies occupied, and try to summon the Fire totems a bit away from mobs (but not so far that they miss!)
A niche use for our Fire totems is to pull mobs off us. Searing, Magma, and Fire Nova Totems generate threat, which can grab a mob's attention. It will only be for a moment, but it could be the separation needed to survive!
Be aware that
and
generate huge amounts of threat. In a dungeon, we can not use them unless we are tanking. Even
, as unpredictable as it is, can easily pull threat if we get multiple crits or chain procs. Shamans are very bursty and controlling threat can be very difficult.
On the topic of tanking: Yes, Shaman tanking is possible. However, this guide does not recommend it. Our single target threat generation is very good, but in dungeons we have no survivability cooldowns, no taunt, no threat-generating skills besides Earth Shock and auto attacks, very limited CC, and pre-40 we have little armor and mitigation (Shamans don’t even have parry until level 30).
Still, advanced Shamans who know their class will find tanking, especially early dungeons, to be quite easy.
Leveling Difficulty of Shaman in Hardcore WoW
Shamans are a very deep class. On one hand, we use a very small amount of our spells in our regular rotations. On the other, we have one of the highest number of spells out of any class in the game. It is easy to be overwhelmed and forget what tool we have available, or to panic and try to use too many at once. Keeping a level head is essential to success as a Shaman.
Strengths of Shaman in Hardcore WoW
Shamans are not completely gear-dependent, but also benefit from good gear upgrades.
We benefit from all stats, there are none that are completely useless.
幽魂之狼
!
Most elites can be killed through kiting.
Different playstyles to keep the game fresh. A caster and a melee dps spec, a healing spec, and even a tanking spec with the right gameplay. There's no need to put points into Restoration to heal dungeons, so we always have the option to heal.
Weaknesses of Shaman in Hardcore WoW
No hard CC. Our CC only consists of slows.
Many of our defensive and utility totems are the same Element. Specifically, we can not use
,
, or
地缚图腾
together.
Ghost Wolf can not be used indoors.
Mana dependent and very thirsty! Shamans typically don't stack int, especially when playing Enhancement. Our spells are also very mana-costly, and we can very quickly end up oom in an emergency.

血性狂怒
, Orcs are an excellent all-rounder choice, and the overall best for Enhancement DPS.
巨魔

再生
, Trolls are the best race for Elemental and Restoration Shamans, and a good choice for Enhancement.
牛头人
- with
战争践踏
and
耐久
, Tauren are a safe choice for Shamans and offer the most escape for Hardcore gameplay.
Which Race is Best?
There is no obvious choice as to which race is best overall for Shamans in hardcore mode; each race offers advantages to help enhance your gameplay.
Tauren are the safest pick for Hardcore mode. War Stomp stuns for long enough to cast Lesser Healing Wave or Ghost Wolf when talented, giving us excellent options for escaping on a decently short cooldown. Even without Ghost Wolf, War Stomp is a hard disable, which we lack. However, Tauren offer no offensive boosts to our kill times.
Orcs and Trolls are really a coin flip as neither is notably better than the other. Both give a good DPS cooldown; Blood Fury is on a shorter cooldown, but is melee attack power only and debuffs you to take 50% reduced healing. Berserking is on a longer cooldown and costs mana, but affects spells and does not debuff you. Berserking can be extra useful when we need an emergency heal as it increases our cast speed more when missing health.
Troll’s Regeneration is a small bit of health regeneration that scales with spirit. Orc’s Hardiness is valuable as the chance to resist stuns can help avoid a sticky situation.
All-in-all, Tauren are the best pick for safety, Orcs give max Enhance DPS, Trolls give max Ele and Resto speccing.
Stat Analysis for Shaman in Hardcore WoW
Before 40:
Str > Stam > Spirit = Int > Agi
Enhance - After 40:
Str > Stam > Agi > Spirit = Int
Elemental - After 40:
Int > Stam >> Spirit > Str >> Agi
Before level 40, both specs play in a similar fashion. The damage we deal is hybrid, about 50% white hits and 50% spells. As such, we value all the stats.
Strength is the best stat for auto attacking. Although Agi does give crit, point for point it simply does not increase dps as much. After we get the talent Flurry, agility’s weight increases. Even after Flurry, Agility will be valued lower for Enhancement Shamans than Strength.
Elemental Shamans after level 40 will switch to almost a full caster-playstyle. Intellect becomes the most valuable stat, with the melee stats dropping significantly. Given how rare Spell power and Spell Crit is on leveling gear, we don’t worry about it until much later. That being said, they are by far our best stats for Elemental. If we find a green “of Nature’s Wrath” piece, it’s likely we will use it until 60.
Comparing Intellect and Spirit is difficult. On paper, Int gives a good amount of mana compared to the mp5 Spirit gives. But while leveling as Enhance, the time we spend letting Spirit regen run is high, and the time we spend at max mana is low. So Enhance can weigh them equally, or Spirit higher. For Elemental, the comparison is much easier. Because of the time we will spend hard casting, Spirit will not be highly valued. Still, it is not worthless as we will still spend some time melee-ing.
Important Spells for Shaman in Hardcore WoW
Totems
The most unique aspect of the Shaman is our Totems. Totems are units summoned by the shaman that can provide buffs, do damage, or provide a number of other benefits. All totems benefit the Shaman and our party members.
Totems are separated into 4 groups, representing the 4 classic elements, Earth Fire Water and Air. You can only summon one totem of each element.
For the majority of totems, we'll want to place them strategically to affect us while we fight multiple mobs. Totems can cost a good amount of mana, and each is summoned separately on the GCD, so getting the most use out of each placement greatly helps our efficiency.
- Generates threat on all enemies in range. One of our most important totems, Stoneclaw is an emergency button to use in hardcore. Think of this as a poor man’s Target Dummy; use Stoneclaw to occupy additional mobs as we kill the first or to create space as we run away. Despite what the tooltip says, Stoneclaw does not literally taunt. It casts an aoe spell that generates threat, and unfortunately a small amount at that. One pulse is enough to pull if we’ve generated no threat (like face-pulling), and tow or three pulses is enough if we’ve done minor damage (like a lightning shield proc).Stoneclaw has many more uses, like keeping mobs from killing fire totems, as fire totems generate threat both through their damage and when summoned. It can also be used to group up mobs to then slow them with Earthbind.
地缚图腾
- Pulses an aoe slow. Another utility totem that is an emergency button in hardcore. Every 5 seconds, Earthbind casts a slow debuff in a 10 yard aoe. The debuff lasts 6 seconds and slows for 50%.The biggest thing to note about Earthbind is that it pulses. Enemies are not automatically slowed when in range, they need to be in range when the totem casts.
战栗图腾
- Pulses an aoe dispel that clears Sleep, Charm, and Fear effects. Although niche in its use, it is incredibly valuable when up against mobs with those debuffs. Often these mobs are in dungeons, where a fear can easily cause a chain pull. If you’re not sure, drop Tremor to be safe!Similar to Earthbind, this totem pulses its cast, casting the dispel in a 30 yard aoe every 5 seconds.
- Attacks a single enemy. Searing totem is our most mana efficient damage spell. The attacks are weak, but over its 1 minute life it does a significant amount.Note that Searing Totem will attack red enemies, even if they're not aggroed! Keep an eye on it, it will turn and start charging an attack. Re-summon it or another fire totem to stop it.
- Redirects a spell casted at you to the totem. The usefulness of this totem in hardcore can not be overstated. Blocking a spell allows you to completely negate the danger of mobs that nuke, stun, poison, root, or slow us. Between the short cooldown on Earth Shock and Grounding Totem, we can essentially never be hit by a mob’s spells.Note: this totem gives an aura that affects all party members. A spell cast on someone with this aura will go to the totem instead. It will not redirect physical abilities that can be dodged or parried like Rend or Hamstring.
Shocks
Part of the Shaman flavor is the unique interaction of our Shock spells. Shocks are instant cast spells with a 20 yard range, and a shared 6 second cooldown. This means that casting one shock puts all the others on cooldown.
Shamans have 3 shocks, listed below:
- This is both your main nuke and interrupt spell. It is a 2-second interrupt on a low 6-second cooldown, but remember that casting any other shocks will put this on cooldown. Be aware whether a mob will cast a spell that you need to kick, and save your shocks so Earth Shock is available. It benefits us to keep rank 1 Earth Shock on our bars as a low mana option to kick spells.
- While not as much up-front burst as the other two shocks, Flame Shock deals the most damage and has the best mana efficiency if the entire duration runs.
- With a debuff longer than its cooldown, we can slow a target for as long as our mana holds out. The damage and mana efficiency are similar to Earth Shock. It benefits us to keep rank 1 Frost Shock on our bars as a low mana option to slow.
Weapon Enhancements
Our weapon enhancement spells imbue our melee weapons with the power of the elements. Four separate spells add a unique weapon imbue to our weapon with a duration of 5 minutes. These imbues take the slot of other imbues like wizard oil and Rogue poisons.
- our first enhancement, this gives a flat amount of attack power and therefore dps. While basic, the amount of attack power is no joke. At level 16, we learn rank 3, which gives 118 attack power, equivalent to 59 strength!
- This is a spell damage based imbue, adding spell damage to our white hits. This is a separate instance of damage that scales with spell power and spell crit.
- Gives our weapon swing a 20% chance to add two additional strikes with increased attack power. Everyone who knows Shamans knows Windfury. Windfury is a massive albeit inconsistent DPS increase.
- the oft-forgotten imbue, Frostbrand is another spell based imbue that adds a chance to generate damage and slow the target by 25%. It is on a proc per minute mechanic, with a ppm of about 9-12, which works out to about 36% (varies with weapon speed).
Which do I use?
Rockbiter is technically the best. It adds more damage on average than Flametongue and Frostbrand, and less damage but is more consistent than Windfury.
In a dungeon, if we are DPS, we need to
not
use Rockbiter as the extra threat will pull mobs off the tank. Windfury gives the most damage, but the burst damage it provides can also pull threat, something that should be avoided in hardcore.
Against high armor mobs, Flametongue or Frostbrand can do more damage than Rockbiter or Windfury. But even so, when we crit, we will crit the entire damage bonus of Rockbiter or Windfury. The spellpower imbues, as separate damage instances, have their own crit rate (the spell crit rate, which is lower than melee while leveling).
Frostbrand is often thought to be less damage and less use than the other three, but with a good base damage and a high proc per minute, the overall damage is similar to the other imbues. It has its best use among mobs that flee when low health. The slow is a mana-free way to stop the mobs from getting too far and chain pulling.
Windfury does add more damage on average than Rockbiter. Plus, because Windfury hits count as melee hits, they can crit and proc Flurry. Ie, Windfury effectively increases Flurry uptime.
Windfury is inconsistent however. It is not uncommon to kill a couple mobs without it proccing. Windfury also has a major issue with overkill: if it procs when the mobs is about dead, the damage is wasted. This is especially noticeable when using slower two-hand weapons. A good proc will almost kill a mob, but the kills without a proc and the overkills will feel much worse.
All-in-all, Rockbiter is the best to use outside of dps-ing dungeons.
Utility Spells
For Hardcore, it is of the utmost importance to understand and utilize our utility and escape spells, which are detailed below.
星界传送
- A free hearthstone on a 15 minute cooldown, what’s not to love?
,
,
,
- We have at our disposal personal spells and totems that cleanse poisons or diseases. The totems are water totems that pulse a cleanse every 5 seconds.
幽魂之狼
- A massive QoL spell, this is also a great escape tool when we need to run from mobs. Be aware that this is only usable outdoors, so stay away from caves!
- A valuable ability, many mobs have buffs that add damage, defenses, or effects. A common one is the mage’s frost armor, which will slow us when we damage them. Purge the buffs off so that we don’t get slowed, which helps us avoid emergencies.
Spells to Avoid
There are a number of spells that are of no use to us on our Hardcore journey. Shamans have
a lot
of spells, so save the money and leave these un-trained.

Leveling Rotations for Shaman in Hardcore WoW
Rotations for Shamans are not static; playing involves front loading spells and then auto-attacking to play around the 5-second rule. In general, we will look to utilize the spells that offer the best Damage per Mana Efficiency (DpME). This will include
,
,
, and
.
Rotation (before level 40)
Start with
Pull with 1-2
/
if the mob needs to die quickly
Enh Rotation (after level 40)
Start with
Pull with 1-2
风暴打击
/
The use of Searing Totem and Flame Shock vs Earth Shock depends on how long the mob will live. Earth Shock with the Stormstrike debuff is still less DpME than Flame Shock, but the burst will sometimes kill a mob before the Flame Shock dot runs out, especially if we get lucky with Windfury.
Unfortunately, Stormstrike is fairly lackluster. At 21% of your base mana, it is expensive to cast, has a long 20 second cool down, and only does the damage of a single melee attack. The DpME of the spell will be quite bad, especially with faster weapons. The extra damage to Earth Shock and/or Lightning Shield does not make up for it.
Stormstrike is a melee attack, however, and as such can crit and proc flurry, or proc Windfury (if we are using it). So it is difficult to say with certainty how valuable it is compared to its mana cost. My personal rule of thumb is that with a weapon 2.4 or slower, it is worth using.
Ele Rotation (after level 40)
Start with
Pull with 3-4
地缚图腾
or
- Run a bit during the gcd
1-2
/
if the mob needs to die quickly
All the above rotations are very simple, but there is a lot of nuance as to when to cast our spells, when to hold them and just auto-attack, and when to use our totems, in order to maximize our efficiency.
One approach is to have a "burst" rotation and a "conserve" rotation. When we have more mana, use
,
/
, and even
to kill the mob quickly. When we have less mana, use
and
to steadily kill mobs, giving more time for our spirit regen to run.
Ele Cleave Rotation
Pull mobs with
幽魂之狼
or Rank 1
/
off cooldown
It is possible for Elemental Shamans after level 40 to cleave down 2-3 mobs, but doing so is very mana-intense. We will need the talent
to make it work, as the reduced charge time on
will make it cast in conjunction with the Chain Lightning cast. Talent builds are discussed more above.
We need to put down Stoneclaw before Fire Nova Totem, because the mobs will kill the Fire Totem otherwise. Stoneclaw also keeps the mobs occupied while we cast Chain Lightning. When we pull, it can help to not have Lightning Shield active, as the extra threat will keep the mob on us and not on Stoneclaw.
Fighting Elite Mobs
When fighting a difficult mob like an Elite quest mob, we need to take into account the mob’s own abilities.
Most mobs can be kited with
地缚图腾
and whittled down with
. Place the two totems, and then run the mob in a circle around them. Take care not to bring the mob out of range of Earthbind, and use
as needed.
Mobs that can’t be slowed, use ranged attacks, or have a gap closer like charge can not be engaged this way, and we will need to out-level them to solo them.
Best Professions for Shaman Leveling in Hardcore WoW
Herbalism + Alchemy
Alchemy is the best overall choice for Shamans in Hardcore. The amount of stats, choice of stats, and the ubiquitous usefulness of Health and Mana pots can not be overstated. Shamans have a number of escapes, but all of them require mana: the last thing we need is to be oom and unable to cast Stoneclaw or Ghost Wolf.
Engineering + Mining
Engineering is very useful to every class, and Shamans are no different.
Grenades like
铁皮手雷
give us a much needed disable (as Shamans only have slows).
Additional escape tools like the
活动假人
Extra damage from bombs like
致密炸弹
for us to use in dead spots in spell use, which Shamans definitely have.
Engineering requires more effort compared to the ease and immediate benefit of Alchemy, but is equally or maybe more useful to our hardcore journey.
Leatherworking + Skinning
Although not quite as beneficial as Alchemy and Engineering, Leatherworking is still a good profession to pursue. Skinning requires almost no effort to level, compared to mining and herbalism. Leveling Leatherworking is also quite easy, especially compared to Engineering.
The gear it provides is not great, however. The trainer-recipes have mostly Agility and Spirit, with Strength-based items mostly as world drops. Agi and Spirit are good stats, but still unfavorable compared to Strength. Still, there are plenty of pieces that are great to have, such as the
山地护肩
(at a time when everyone else is happy to have gray cloth shoulders).
Tailoring
Although it sounds questionable, Tailoring is a semi-viable choice for a Hardcore Shaman. Bags are a obvious benefit, but moreso Intelligence gear is very useful if we want to heal dungeons or play Elemental. An unconventional choice to be sure, but one that can work.
Blacksmithing
Blacksmithing is simply not recommended. Shamans can not wear mail gear until 40, and crafting the weapons is too difficult for too little pay off. Unlike Warriors, only about half our damage comes from our weapon; we simply aren’t as reliant on our weapon slot to justify this profession.
