For Daakara's Bear Form, since he is linked to Zul'jin for obvious reasons, my group kept wiping until we got a smart healer with the answer.
Daakara Bear Form will charge the farthest member away from him and put a Surge debuff on him increasing damage taken by 500% for 15 seconds. That person afflicted has to move closer to Daakara and another Ranged/Heals will have to be the furthest out to eat the next charge + surge.
Assuming 2 ranged, 1 heal this can be kept on a nice system of rotating positions so that the one without the debuff runs to be the furthest away then back in with the debuff.
Without the rotation, the second time someone gets charged (when they have the Surge debuff) it is an instant one shot kill.

We had the Lynx and the Dragonhawk, and it was very challenging. It appears that the animal forms chosen on the first attempt are repeated for any subsequent ones, since in many tries we always got the same two. Finally beat him with one player left alive (one of his fire AoEs got the rest of us when he was one or two attacks from being dead).
The Lynx Claw Rage can destroy someone in plate armor very quickly (~2 seconds). We didn't find an obvious solution for them, apart from bubbling or timing Lay on Hands perfectly. Perhaps with higher health totals/better gear it will become more an issue of keeping everyone topped off.

taunt does work but the tank has to be like godlike in timing.. as healer you go down in less than 0.5 seconds if he claw rages you..
i find this to be some sort of random wipe boss... claw rage on healer = wipe

I taunted about 1/3 through Claw Rage and blew short cooldowns. It split the stacks between his initial target and myself, greatly reducing overall damage.

Just a note, if you get the eagle phase and it's the last phase, it's entirely soloable. Just
kill totems as quickly as you can
, and avoid the tornadoes. Also, from what I've seen, he will have either the following phase orders:
#1
: Normal * ( Note that melee has time to move out of the whirlwind. )
: Bear *( Have people rotate who is standing the farthest. Healer needs to dispel the Creeping Paralysis, especially from the tank! )
: Eagle * ( Just read what I said earlier. It's extremely easy. )
#2
: Normal
: Lynx *( Try CCing the tiger Adds if possible )
: Dragonhawk * ( Save hero/lust for this phase )

So at 85 when he goes into bear form his surge still targets the furthest player, so keep your dps rotating to distance so no one gets charged twice. And so you can keep your heals from getting hit.

I ran this last night with a full guild group. The tank was probably the least geared at around ilvl 350. The rest of us are around 354-356. I say that as way of introduction so you won't chalk the following up to being under geared for the fight.
This fight feels really bad to me right now. We got Lynx and Dragonhawk. The Lynx's
cut through us all like butter and it seemed like there was absolutely nothing we could do to avoid it. The tank taunted off, but the damage is so high that it was even ripping him up in seconds with his plate. Hard fights are fine, but this damage felt completely unavoidable, which isn't fun. We ultimately got through it by: 1)having multiple battle rezes off cooldown so we could keep bringing people up, 2)ignoring the adds to burn the boss as quickly as possible and force him into the next phase and 3)using absolutely every cooldown, potion, buff food, etc. we could to increase damage and get through the phase as quickly as possible.
The Dragonhawk felt much more doable when we got to him, but I have a gripe on that too. There were times when people in the group got killed by his Flame Breath when standing yards from where the animation showed the fire to be. I think the animation may not be aligned well to the actual area of damage.

There are four spirits that Daakara will use during this fight, which are:
Bear Spirit - Kinda like Nalorakk, he will charge the farthest party member and apply the
Surge
debuff, which will increase the target physical by 500%, and also deals damage. Rangeds should rotate who gets charged to avoid getting killed.
There is also
Creeping Paralysis
, which if not dispelled in 6 seconds, will stun the target.
Just stay where you are on this phase, if you get hit by a charge, just stay close to the tank, its better than assigning rangeds to calculate their range with the other ranged.
Dragonhawk Spirit - He will basically summon Columns of Fire which party members should move out, and also cast a Fire breath, which will leave a trail of fire in the ground, which deals damage per second (if I recall), you should also move out of it.
Basically avoid the fire, there's nothing more to it.
Lynx Spirit - Basically, he will summon 2 adds that dps should be killing, since they tend to fixate on a random party member and will kill them if not dealt with. Other than that, he just charges a player dealing some damage and leaving a bleed effect which must be healed.
Party members should be always topped on health during this fight due to most of his attacks being quite strong and quick.
Stay close in case you healer decides to use aoe heals, makes easier for him to track you health if you get hit by the Lynx flurry attacks and charges.
Eagle Spirit - This spirit form will summon about 3 cyclones which will attempt to follow you during this phase, they basically move to where you are, and stand there for a few seconds.
People should avoid touching them due to the damage it deals to anyone close to it. Also destroy the electrical totem that the boss summons.
Simply, destroy the electric totem and avoid the tornadoes.
Fight Strat: Basically, Daakara will begin the fight in his troll form, simply using his normal abilities like Whirlwind and Grievous Wound, which deals a high damage to low armor targets and a bleed effect that requires being healed to 100% for it to disappear, respectively.
At 80% health he will randomly choose a spirit, which you should deal with. Usually at 50% (Not totally sure on this one) he will return to his troll form, and deal the same abilities as before.
When at 40%, he will then choose another spirit and basically stick with it until he dies.

So on Lynx and Dragonhawk for Avatar....
Lynx- DO NOT KILL ADDS until after you get to 40% this concentrating all dps on boss and preventing the extra
https://www.wowhead.com/cata/spell=97672
. They are easily killed with aoe splash damage then concentrated fire on the last 10% or so of their life.
We also use Time Warp during this phase as to help save no the massive damage going out.
Mage iceblocked, Hunter(that's me) feigned death and rogue died, but was brezed.
Dragonhawk is easy phase just keep moving and do not be in front of him after he flamewhirl.
I suggest grabbing a health pot or three if you wipe and see this is your avatar set.
Persavere. This is a game and it is quite beatable.

as far as i`m concerned for the lynx adds priority goes this way : cc > kill > ignore with ignore translating into almost certain wipe
dunno why people downvoted me :)

Here’s a bit more of an In-Depth guide for those still having trouble with this encounter.
The Idea
Daakara has 4 possible animal forms in 2 possible combinations – Bear/Eagle and Lynx/Dragonhawk. At 80% and 40% Daakara will change into these forms. These combinations will not change once you start the fight – so if you wipe, at least you know what to expect next time.
Troll Form
Starting the pull he will be in troll form with a few adds to AoE down. This is pretty much a straight tank and spank fight – just watch out for the Whirlwind. However, he does have one move the healers should watch for, the Grievous Throw, which will do 7500 damage per 5 seconds up until the player is restored to full health; this is nothing serious but can become a problem if you don’t heal the player up quickly.
Combination A: Bear, Eagle.
Bear Form
– in this form there are a few things to watch out for.
First, he will Surge at the furthest player doing just over 30k damage and causing a debuff increasing damage taken 500% for 20 seconds. Its important here that anyone with the debuff run in so as to not be surged again. If everyone is in, it’s important that someone without the debuff run out to take the next one.
Secondly, he will do a paralysis ala Ozruk. It’s a magic effect, and your healer has 6 seconds to clear this off as many people as possible before it stuns and does significant damage. Priority is of course tank, healer and anyone with low health.
In this form Daakara also has a unavoidable blow that does 115% his normal attack damage to the tank. While not super damaging, it's important for healers to stay on their toes here.
As a side note, due to the next forms mechanic you’re going to want to try to top everyone up before he completes the change.
Eagle Form
– This time there are 3 main things to watch out for. An important note though, is that if things are done right this fight is not a DPS race. It’s about taking the least damage possible.
During this fight, you get a debuff that will cause every spell cast to do 12k Nature Damage to you. This means you need to take as little damage as possible, as having to heal you is going to damage your healer in return. Given that the nice little mana efficient heals tend to do less than 12k healing, your healer will also have to be using large, mana devouring heals and will go oom quickly if they have to heal you any more than required. (If you’re a caster you may even want to break out a wand on this one to avoid the damage).
The next thing you have to watch for is the Lightning Totem. This needs to die. The new ones he puts down also need to die. These periodically zap you for roughly 20k damage. Aside from this damage being bad, also recall that healing this damage zaps your healer.
Next, you get to dodge tornadoes. If these hit you they’ll deal out some nasty AoE. They’re fairly easy to avoid, moving every few seconds to wherever you were standing last. Just keep on the move and you should be fine with these.
All in all success in this phase involves you taking as little damage as possible. If totems are burned ASAP and tornadoes are avoided, there should be next to no healing required. This phase is easily completely with half the party down (or even all the DPS down), if the remainder are avoiding damage correctly.
Combination B: Lynx, Dragonhawk.
Lynx Form
– This is probably the form I see the most pugs having trouble with. He has 2 main abilities and will spawn a couple adds that can be dps’ed down with ease (and they should be dps’ed down as they will persist into the next phase, otherwise).
The main ability people seem to have issues with here is the Claw Rage. The boss will fixate on a random player and chain off a series of hard hitting, rapid fire attacks. This is not interruptible and will down anything less than a plate wearer. The trick here is to split the damage between the tank and the victim. At 3-5 stacks in the tank should taunt the boss. All remaining stacks of damage will go to the tank and the damage is effectively split and easily survivable by both parties. Your tank may also try to taunt earlier, and blow a damage reduction cooldown, but this cooldown is usually much better saved for if the boss actually uses this move on the tank himself. You should have warning this is coming, as the boss will change targets moments before starting this move. This is not something you can generally heal through no matter how hard you spam flashes, surges, etc, if the tank doesn't taunt off the victim.
The boss will also rush about with Lynx Rush, causing about 10k damage and 50k in bleed over 10 sec. Not much can be done about this other than to heal through it. It is however another reason you do not want either your tank or Claw Rage victim taking full Claw Rage as this bleed can easily finish off the little health left by the rage.
During this part of the fight it is largely up to the tank to make sure people live by splitting the damage. However it also tends to be healing intensive. If you get lynx form, it is suggested that you blow Heroism/Bloodlust and any other DPS cooldowns to make sure this phase lasts as short as possible.
Dragonhawk Form
– This form is all about avoiding fire. If you have resistance auras or totems, use them here.
First there will be a fire AoE called Flame Whirl. Not much to do about this but heal through it. Fortunately it is relatively minor damage, however it also increases the fire damage you will take.
Secondly the boss will occasionally spew out a line of fire in front of him. Get out of this ASAP as it hurts a lot (it’s possible to take as much as 150k or more from this if you don’t move – more if you’re affected by Flame Whirl).
Thirdly there are columns of fire the boss will randomly target players with. These also hurt and should be moved out of ASAP. They will not follow you, so strafing out will work just fine.
Avoid enough of the fire here, and you will win. Not much more to this fight than that.

Is there any lore behind this guy? Zul'jin was a pretty cool lore character from way back (and one-armed to boot!) This guy shows up with basically the same mechanic. Who is he? Where'd he come from?
At least I could kinda figure out the Jin'do/Hakkar thing and sort of liked it. Back in the day, we'd take out Hakkar and then wipe on Jin'do a few times and call it a good night. Point being Jin'do was a force to be reckoned with and the idea that he had enslaved Hakkar I could buy.

When in the eagle phase, the cyclones move whenever he finishes a cast of Sweeping Winds. They move to wherever the player was when your client registers that the cast is finished. Just something for DPS to be aware of, that can help the healers avoid damage.

His Dragonhawk phase seems to be a bit buggy...
Even with 0 lag, if you are not moving before that flame line is cast, you will take 150k+ damage...
After every whirl is about to end, start moving... hopefully you don't run through a line so you take very little damage...
From what I was seeing, Basically if his fire line hit anyone with less then 125k health, they died.
Not sure if it's intended, or possibly a visual/combat log problem (Perhaps damage is being dealt before the graphic appears to hit you).. or perhaps the servers still having problems (even at 5am in the morning) -- while reporting less then 75ms pings.

Ignoring the adds until after the boss has been forced to shift forms definitely does not mean a certain wipe. I have been in many groups that have successfully ignored adds to focus DPS on the boss. Like many fights in this game, there are multiple strategies you can use to win, and which is best on any given attempt will depend a lot on your group makeup and gear level.
I suspect you got down rated because you claimed to have confirmed something when all you were really doing is offering your opinion.

nah i`m just telling you that those adds hit the tank and the tank gets clawraged the tank WILL DIE... since they got an attack similar to the bear mounts that reduce armor by 50% and STACKS !
so the 2 adds combined reduce the armor by 100% which means clawrage on tank = tank dead so yea kill the adds or you have a 1 out of 5 chance to wipe each time he clawrages and he does that about 3 times.

I've just tried cutting water to prepare myself for what this instance will be like, and it was incredibly hard. Every time the knife passed through the water just moved around it, and it stayed together.
Then I tried a different approach and froze the water first. Complete disaster, I couldn't manage to get the knife through it at all, and when I tried to force it, it slipped and cut my hand.
So if your experience was like mine, you came out of this instance frustrated and with a bleeding left hand.

Wiped a few times on the Lynx form and noticed a large, red AOE spot on the ground where the tank was standing when he died. What is the cause of this effect and what damage does it do? Another member ran to stand in it and it killed him as well. Don't see any mention of this in the forums.
Thank you.

The fight is broken down like this:
p1:
100%-80% is a fairly easy phase which involves removing grievous throw, and avoiding cyclones.
The remainder of the fight is broken into two animal phases. It can indeed be any 2 animals of the 4. Someone above said that you get bear/eagle first then lynx/dragonhawk. This is wrong due to the fact that I got the oh so fun privelidge of getting lynx-dragonhawk a few times in a Pug. These two animals are different but always the same. This means that one time you clear an instance it could be bear-dragonhawk. Another time it could be eagle-bear. However if you were to say get bear-dragonhawk and wipe, until you killed him or entered ZA as a new instance it would continue being bear-dragonhawk until wipe. Knowing this helps you figure out exactly what to do in a Pug if you happen to wipe.
P2:
80%-40% First Animal phase, as soon as he hits 80% he starts heading to the middle of the platform and transforms.
P3: 40%-0% Second Animal phase, as soon as he hits 40% he heads to the center and transforms again.
Here is what to do for each animal:
Bear: Have an alternating rotation of 3 people switching who is furthest away from the boss taking a charge. World markers are very helpful for this. One of the easier animals.
Lynx: He gets two adds to come help him which should be burned quickly, also tank should taunt boss every time he tries to go nom someones face open. One of the more difficult animals.
Eagle: This animal form involves a whirlwind twirling around trying to kill people and people taking damage when they cast spells. IMO one of the easier animals.
Dragonhawk: All of your previous instances have given you the knowledge to stay out of the fire. So yeah, do that. Pillars of flame, Fire breath on the floor, etc. Just don't stand in it. Along with lynx one of the harder of the 4.
So yeah hope for good rng on which animals you get and if you do get screwed over with which two you get, don't ragequit, just kill stuff.

Just in case you are curious...
He
does
have a hard enrage timer. I was just in here with a random group on my warrior and we got bear->eagle. Frankly, I was overwhelmingly happy at the fact it was bear/eagle because my healer was ilvl 340 equipped, didn't know what the hell he was doing, and wouldn't have been able to keep me up on Lynx.
ANYWAY.
The ability isn't listed here on Wowhead, and sadly, I do not have the Wowhead uploader running on this computer, but
here
is the recount from the fight. You'll notice the encounter lasted from 17:12:05 to 17:22:45, which is 10 minutes and 40 seconds. Part of the reason why we didn't die in a whirlwind of chaos and destruction is because... the hard enrage does nothing for him in eagle form. The enrage was a similar effect to
Blood-Queen Lanathel's
in that it gave him 500% extra damage, increased attack speed, and immunity to taunt. Thing was, he doesn't attack you. He just summons totems and directs tornadoes. Whoopie. The totems only have about 10k hp, so a shield slam and a devastate was all it took to get rid of them.
Hope this brightens up someone's day, and I hope at least someone with the Wowhead uploader walks in there with his/her guild and gets the ability on there, lol.
p.s. you may want to add this to the guide.

just got this comp tonight, 12 wipes or so, before we finally downed boss. (lynx then dragonhawk)
was me, an ilvl 346 feral tank,
and the undergeared resto sham
and the undergeared hunter
and the undergeared dk
and the undergeared rogue
Lynx kept eating healer's mana pool. When we finally killed Dakkara here's what we did; we have the DK pop army going into lynx, so his ghouls took care of the adds. IDK but they might have eaten some claw fury. Then later when Dakkara used his claw fury id wait until they were at 20% or so and taunt. We also popped lust in lynx phase. Dragonhawk was wiping us before because we'd get there with an oom healer.
I have to say, lynx is a *!@#$. It's all up to the tank on how close the healer is going to get to being oom. I had to time and save my taunts and defensive cooldowns very carefully on lynx. blow a taunt and someone dies to that claw ravage move. do it too late or early and i take too much damage and healer loses mana. and the adds... gotta be tanking them , stray adds kill healer's mana too. honestly lynx is the only scary form this guy has really. i bet everyone agrees.
dragon hawk after lynx blows because dragonhawk is basically group damage, not hard on tank at all, but after lynx, even the best healer will be hurting on mana. Unfair combo!

There are several groups of 2 mobs with a amongst them, just before Malacress. Mages: Spellsteal
板块重构
off one then invis.
You will then have the spellstolen quake buff for this encounter with about a minute duration left. Have the tank position the boss in the middle of the blue rectangle on the ground where he would run to when transforming, then melee the boss until the quake procs. Have your tank tank him in the earthquake graphic till it fades, melee the boss again, repeat. If you get Lynx form first, the two adds get utterly destroyed by the 30K/sec damage per mob. I generally popped images the moment the adds spawned since it was impossible for any tank to maintain threat over the damage, but both adds died in 10 seconds with this buff up making the phase trivial.

I would like to note that the Bear form ability
Creeping Paralysis
does ~70-80k damage after six seconds if not removed. Wowhead does not list a damage component, but it is there. CP is cast right as Daakara changes into Bear form and again after every three Surges. You can lose a group member pretty quickly if this is not removed--I recommend dispelling at least the tank and the party member who will take the next Surge.

For anyone wondering, Blood DK can solo the eagle phase, so if your group wipes, don't give up. What I did was just run around in a circle so his tornado didn't hit me, but even if it does, you aren't tanking any damage anyway. Probably possible for other tanks/DPS to solo this phase as well.

If you're doing the quest Warlord of the Amani, you won't get the kill for Daakara if you die before the boss is killed. I don't know if it was always like this or if this is a bug, since I don't PvE much, but that is some heavy bullsh*t. I died literally 3 seconds before my group killed him. And I spent nearly half an hour on this raid.

Death Knights can use their Icebound Fortitude to break Creeping Paralysis, and/or become immune to the stun component.
More often than not is it also useful against Claw Rage... use it!
Icebound Fortitude is a skill that saves your ass, but also helps your healer out.. use it wisely.

Why are we trying to kill Zul'jin? He's a good guy from Warcraft II!

GG LORE NEWBS!
Vol'Jin came to Durotar w/ Thrall in the beginning of WCIII. He plays a vital role in lore atm because he's technically the leader of the Darkspear Trolls, whom inhabit Sen'jin island.
Zul'Jin was a hero in WCII. He had some kick-ass throwing axes and a sweet veil. In the trailer, we're apparently trying to fight him because he hates us, the Blood Elves are his sworn enemy and they have been allowed into the Horde ranks.

well no one mentioned that the playable trolls say when you say
/charge you say "For Zul'Jin!" and as for people being killable get used to it, Arthas is next :P

Zul'Jin was a hero of the Trolls.
When the Alliance stormed the land that the Forest Trolls were on, the Blood Elves were with them. They took him, beaten him, and cut his eye out. Then, when he was imprisoned, he cut is own arm off to escape. Then, he realized that the Blood Elves were with the Horde. Zul'Jin was allies to the Horde, until he saw that the Blood Elves were allied with the Horde. So, then he hated the Horde and the Alliance. Therefore, that is why Alliance and Horde can kill him.

Zul'jin=/= Vol'Jin
Zul'jin=one-armed, one-eyed troll boss, see the trailer for details
Vol'jin= horde boss in thrall's throne room.
not that hard to see the difference.
VOL=/=ZUL
Vol=2 arms, 2 eyes
Zul=1 arm, 1 eye
get it straight... im seein people posting their complaints about it despite the fact someone has already answered the question 1 post or 2 above them.

I hate how people say that the when you get a quest to kill someone that they die in the story line... Lets not forget that in WoW things can go either way sure sometimes they get beat and sometimes they dont however I dont think that WoW will affect the lore or storyline in the long run. If they ever make a Warcraft IV I believe many of the things you may be successful in doing in WoW wont turn out the same way in the storyline

It is somewhat tough to say whether Zul'jin or Malacrass is the hardest 10-man boss in the game right now, but I believe Zul'jin is, for his fight requires the most coordination and spot-on execution. Even t6 geared guilds wipe to him occasionally (like us... though we fight him with alts most of the time), so I'll provide a personalized strat for all those attempting him.
Zul'jin has 5 phases. He starts in his human phase, and when you take him down to 80%, he'll start his Bear phase. At 60%, he starts his Eagle phase, at 40%, he starts his Lynx phase, and at 20%, he starts his Dragonhawk phase. The difficulty ranking of these phases are as follows (most difficult to least).
1)Lynx
2)Eagle
3)Dragonhawk
4)Bear
5)Human
Note that he drops aggro completely after each phase.
Phase 1: Human form (100-80%)
Zul'jin's human form is rather simple, he has only 2 abilities besides his hard melee.
-Whirlwind: From time to time he'll start spinning in place and a countdown cast will start. When he finishes with this "cast," he'll cleave most melee for 6k damage. Since his hit box is pretty big, the melee dps should hit him from as far away as possible and then run out as soon as he starts this ability. Run back in afterward to dps.
-Grievous Throw: He'll occasionally throw a huge knife at a random target (possibly melee, and the knife is HUGE). It'll deal an initial 2-3k damage, and then continue to tick for 2.4k every 2s until the target is healed to 100% hp, similar to the boss in Slave Pens. It'll tick forever if the target never gets topped off, be warned.
AOE down the adds at the beginning of the pull, making sure that when you make the pull, everyone's inside the outer fence for a flame door spawns. Have your tank tank him at the bottom of the steps, and the ranged dps should spread out in a semi-circle around him. The melee should of course be behind him. All of his abilities in this phase are very weak, including his melee. As long as your melee dps watches out for his whirlwinds, it's as simple as a tank and spank to 80%.
Phase 2: Bear Form (80-60%)
At 80%, he'll run to the middle of the platform and change into a bear. The fight becomes somewhat simpler, but the danger level increases.
-Creeping Paralysis: On a set timer. He'll occasionally put this on everyone in the raid. It's a debuff that will deal 4.5k damage after 5 secs if it isn't dispelled off the target. The target will also be stunned for 4 seconds. If you have one or two priests in your group, simply have everyone stacked on top of each other and have the priests cast mass dispel. If no priests are available, have your other healers dispel themselves and the tank and leave the debuff on the dps.
-Overpower: Exactly the same as the warrior ability. It'll hit up to 6k on plate, and due to this and his increased melee hits, your tank will be taking spike damage. Make sure the tank is always topped off.
Like I've mentioned above, as soon as the phase starts, have everyone stack on top of each other for mass dispels. The melee shouldn't worry too much about this for they could easily live through it, but if possible (and without taking too much healing off the main tank) dispel everyone.
Phase 3: Eagle Form (60-40%)
The most annoying phase of the whole encounter. When he reaches 60% hp, he'll run to the middle of the platform and fly up into the air. There'll be no damage coming from Zul'jin himself at all in this whole phase. Instead, 4 tornadoes will spawn that moves around the platform.
-Tornadoes: These will CHASE after people and deal around 1k to anyone that's close enough. It'll also deal a knockback. Once they hit someone, the tornadoes usually go after someone else. Be warned that it is possible to have multiple tornadoes chasing the same target.
-Energy Storm: This is a debuff that Zul'jin puts on everyone once the phase starts. It cannot be dispelled by any means. Whenever someone casts a spell that uses mana, he/she will be dealt 1250 damage from the tornadoes (some hunter spells not included).
Everyone should be constantly moving around the platform to avoid the tornadoes. Due to the energy storm, any class with a dot should put it on Zul'jin right at the beginning of phase transition when Energy Storm hasn't been cast yet (locks could CoD around 70%). Use your biggest heals if possible to make every cast count. Prayer of Mending works wonders in this fight. DPS casters should also cast their biggest casts, but wanding should be a big chunk of their dps in this phase to save healer mana. Do not get cornered and do not stay on the stairs; these places negate the knockback ability of the tornadoes and might make you take multiple tornado hits in quick succession. As a bug, it is possible for someone to get knocked over the fire door. He/she cannot get back on the fight, so avoid this at all costs by staying away from the entrance.
Casters could trick the debuff into thinking that only one spell is cast if he/she follows up a cast with an instant cast (for example, a prayer of mending after a greater heal). He/she will only be hit once, but he/she will be able to squeeze in two casts.
Phase 4: Lynx Form (40-20%)
This is the most healing intensive phase of the fight. A lot of people will be taking a lot of damage at once, and very very quick heals are needed to negate his Claw Rage ability.
-Claw Rage: Occasionally Zul'jin will target a person at random, charge, and hit him/her 12 times in 6 seconds. The first hit deals 500, and the subsequent hits deal 150 more each hit (650, 800, 950, etc). This damage is not mitigated by armor, so the target will be dealt 16k damage in 6 seconds. This is a lot of damage, and if all the healers don't target the person being hit and spam heals on him/her, that person will die 100% of the time.
Lynx Hush: Occasionally he'll charge around your raid, dealing 2k on 9 targets and putting a debuff on them that ticks for 1.5k every 2s over 10s. Combined with the Claw Rage, there's a lot of healing that's needed to be done.
This phase is basically a test of your healers' skills. The debuffs that he puts up deal a decent amount of damage. While the debuff is ticking, Zul'jin charges at a target that MUST be healed very fast. There's no way to negate his attacks except with quick efficient heals. Having your ranged dps at max range helps too for it takes a while for him to reach a ranged.
Note that it is very easy to pull aggro in this phase but it must not happen. Your tank won't be tanking him a lot due to his 2 abilities, so watch your threat.
It is possible for the Claw Rage targeted player to vanish, ice block, bop, or divine shield out of it. Zul'jin will instead unleash the remaining Claw Rage on the person highest on aggro, hopefully your tank.
Phase 5: Dragonhawk Form (20-0%)
Essentially a tank an spank. This is a test to see if enough people survived the previous phases and is a dps race to the finish.
-Flame Whirl: He'll do this about every 12 seconds. It at first deals 1k damage to everyone, but with each whirl everyone will get a stacking debuff that increases flame damage taken.
-Flame Breath: A frontal cone attack that deals 2-3k fire damage.
-Fire Columns: He'll spawn this at random on top of people. They look like fluxing holy fires, and deals 900 damage per second to anyone standing in one.
Note that all of his fire abilities increase in damage over time due to the debuff that he puts on everyone.
Basically spread out, move out of the fire columns, and dps as hard as you can without pulling aggro. If enough people survive the previous phases, this phase will be very easy.

Ok heres the deal straight from Blizzard!
"During the First War, the Horde offered the forest trolls a place in the Horde. At that time Zul'jin refused, for he felt that his people needed no assistance in battling the elves. He only agreed to join the Horde's ranks when the orcs proved their worth by rescuing a group of trolls shortly before the Second War began. Yet Zul'jin grew furious when Warchief Orgrim Doomhammer not only failed to destroy Quel'Thalas, but also abandoned the siege against the high elves in favor of an attack on Lordaeron. The forest trolls stayed behind and kept fighting. Zul'jin slaughtered countless elves, but even so, he was captured. Chained to a crumbling pillar, he endured hours of torture that cost him his right eye. When his captors were attacked by a small troll warband, the resourceful Zul'jin capitalized on the opportunity, using a fallen spear to cut off his own arm and secure his freedom. Returning home, he began rebuilding his army, and even as he remained behind Zul'Aman's walls, his legend grew.
Years later, as the trolls slowly recovered from their devastating defeat, Zul'jin learned that the high elves had nearly been annihilated by the Scourge. He planned a final campaign to end the bloodline of the elves permanently, but soon thereafter many of his mortal enemies (now calling themselves blood elves) joined the Horde. Furious at the Horde's latest betrayal, Zul'jin was pleased when the witch doctor Malacrass approached him with a devious plan to crush the elves once and for all. Malacrass had studied the Zandalari high priests and their ability to call upon the favor of the animal gods. He also knew that the elves had magically bound one of the mighty naaru, using it to channel the power of the Light into their own ranks. Malacrass had devised a similar plan: to seal the power of the animal gods within the bodies of the Amani's strongest warriors. Zul'jin quickly approved the plan and lent his full support. Malacrass experimented tirelessly and succeeded in imbuing four warriors with the essence of mighty animal gods: the lynx, dragonhawk, bear, and eagle. Some adventurers fear that Malacrass may have bound a fifth, even darker essence within his own soul...."

Best advice I can give is to make an assist macro for the healers on phase 4 for the claw rage. Something like
/tar zul'jin
/assist
/cast <name of heal>.
Also make sure you have enough physical damage for phase 3 to take him down without too much difficulty. We had a hunter, rogue and our prot warrior doing damage and it took a while. Another hunter would have made it easier. One note about the electric shock from using mana abilities: this is not true for all abilities just most of them. I have a personal theory that it uses the silenceable abilities table since a warrior's shouts will get him zapped, but a druid shapeshift will not.
If you're using the same crew that took out all the other bosses in ZA to take on zul'jin, you have plenty of dps for this encounter and I found that this fight is more about surviving to phase 5 than anything else. We leaned more toward stam/pvp sets for this fight since it helped our survivability.
We took him down for the first time 2 nights ago. Our raid consisted of:
1 warrior: prot
1 rogue: combat
1 hunter: BM
1 paladin: holy
2 shaman: both resto
1 priest: holy
1 warlock: aff
1 mage: fire
1 druid: balance

on eagle phase, phase 2, have every1 stand in a large circle around him, not to close to the walls, and do not move they will come for u, hit u once and bugger off, stand close to a wall u will get hit to many times and die, run from it u will bump into other party members and have them take 5k dmg, now thats quite a bit of mana taken away from the healers coz some1 was acting retarded and ran into 5 people, make sure you have one healer (prefereble one with hots) looking at where the cyclones are going then put hots on the people they are going to, i hope this tactic helps you as this is the phase were most wipes will happen because of to many players being killed, then with the hardest phase right after(lynx) their is a low chance of surviving, my guild got him to 1% 2 times because of to many players going down during eagle phase because all the healers got knocked back, once again hope this helps :)

To clear up part of the Voljin Zuljin thing.
There are 5 troll races.
Island Troll: The playable ones, rescued from murlocs and an evil sea spirit on thrall's way to kalimdor. Now they are the darkspear, and are led by VOL'jin.
Forest Troll: Non playable green trolls. More brutish and bloodthirsty than Island Trolls. They are lead by ZUL'jin.
Ice Trolls: Dark blue skinned unplayable trolls that live in northrend. Leader is unknown
Dark Trolls: Purple skinned trolls that are unplayable. Dark trolls are just groups of trolls infused with demonic energy. These monsters are in Warcraft III, but not seen yet in WoW.
Sand or Sandfury Trolls: The capital of the tan-bage colored Sandfury is the troll city of Zul'Farrak. they have few other settlements. The Great Sundering split the trolls' territory, which left the Sandfury in the desert of Tanaris.

Traditionally, trolls can regenerate lost limbs and the only way to kill a troll is to burn it to death. I'm not sure if that applies to WoW lore or not; maybe his arm was severed with a flaming weapon?

Zul’jin is the last boss of Zul’aman Instance. He drops 133 & 138 level items. Zul’jin will be able to draw upon the ghostly spirits of each of the four liberated animal gods from the instance and change his own shape to assume their powers. Every 20% of his health, he switches form.
