Gluth drops one of the various T3 set pieces (shoulder, boots, belt, or bracers) as well as one of the other non-set items from his loot table.

We use another tactic for kiting the Zombie chow. Alliance only though, for know ;)
We have one paladin running a patch along the three grates and the raid (the raid is grouped up in the middle of the room). Goal is to throw consecrates to draw aggro from the zombies. A spawning zombie may aggro one the people in the raid first, but most of the time the paladin will get aggro. As the zombies will catch up with the paladin if not slowed down, we use a warrior shout rotation to keep them at sufficient range. If a paladin finds zombies in his path he will need a few heals, so assign a few people to that. We have found this very effective, also because the paladin can easily pull all the zombies all the way back in the room just before a decimate. Maybe it's not as good when it takes 3 decimates to kill gluth, but our raids are usually stacked with a lot of rogues and warriors, and not as many mages. We kill him shortly after the second decimate.

We accidentally managed to bug this boss on our first kill.
While the raid was wiping on 30% someone overaggroed (or tank didn't have fear ward) and Gluth tried to devour a zombie he found on the way. At the same time, the zombie was going after a hunter that was kiting it. Gluth then bugged and slowly followed the zombie, stopping just behind it, without being able to actually devour it.
You can see a video of that here:
http://video.google.com/videoplay?docid=1243886538350437285&q=balance+kite&hl=en
(bad quality)
After a 20 minutes fight we managed to kill him while the hunter had to kite the last 3%. ^^

# Mob Composition
1. Gluth
2. Zombie Chow
# Mob Characteristics
1.
Mortal Wound
* Reduces healing on the target by 10%
* Stacks up to 10 times
* Similar to the debuff Fankriss does.
2.
Frenzy
* Physical damage dealt is increased by 500.
* Attack speed increased by 50%.
* Approximately 10 sec cooldown.
* Can be Tranq Shotted.
3.
Decimate
- Every 1:45 Gluth will use this ability.
* Reduces player hitpoints to 5%
* Reduces Zombie hitpoints to 5%
* Zombies are charmed to move to Gluth.
4.
AoE Fear
- Causes nearby enemies to flee in fear for 4 sec.
* Can be fear warded.
5.
Devour Zombie
- Gluth has the ability to chow on zombies to restore health.
* Restores 5% Health.
6. Melee Attack
- A Melee attack that does ??? damage to a single target.
# General Strategy
1. Healing Strategy
- MT = The MT should should have 4 dedicated healers, one being a druid.
- Raid = Group healing should be configured to deal with the decimates.
- Kiters = A set of healers should be assigned to the kiting Paladins.
* Priests, Paladins, and non-tanking Druids
All healing classes on standard healing duties with additional emphasis on high instant heals (Swiftness) for MT immediately after Decimate.
* Cleansers
None (Fear?)
2. Combat Strategy
1. Party Composition
- Two Main Tanks to share aggro (Huhuran style - Gluth is not tauntable).
- Paladin Kiting team.
- Melee group.
- Caster/Healer Group.
2. Postioning
MT
- The Main Tanks will position Gluth such that he is facing the raid and his back side is in the doorway. This will limit the fear effect from making the melee move so far and allow the caster/healer group to get at max range for heals/dps and avoid the AoE Fear.
- The melee group will be in the doorway cubby to minimize movement during FEAR.
- The caster/healer group will be at max range behind the Main Tanks.
- A Paladin/Warrior kiting team will be set up to catch the Zombie Chow as they spawn (see Gluth diagram)

3. Fight Dynamics
* Initial contact
The raid will have to run through a poison damaging tunnel before "dropping" into Gluths room. Gluth should be quickly moved to the doorway and turned. The raid needs to quickly get into position before the Zombie Chow start spawning.
* MT Switching Aggro
Two MT's should alternate aggro on Gluth in order to allow healing between the Mortal Wound debuffs. Fear wards should be kept on the two MT's at all times. Druids should prime a Nature's Swiftness just before the decimate and use it right after a decimate on the current MT.
* Paladin Kiting
Due to a Paladins instant AE ability, high hitpoints and armor they will be kiting the spawning Zombies in circles behind the caster/healer party. Warriors will be following the Paladins using Piercing Howl to slow the Zombie Train.
Hunters in the ranged grouped should attempt to lay down freezing traps to help slow the Zombie Train.
Paladins should continually circle and Consecrate near the Caster group and at the middle grate to draw Zombies.
The kiting of Zombies is the hardest part of the Strategy to accomplish and should be executed to perfection, which will allow for a shorter learning curve to a boss kill.
* Decimate
After a Decimate the Zombies will ignore the raid and begin moving to Gluth. Paladins should use Holy Wrath and all AE classes should begin AE to kill the Zombies. Priests should throw out a group heal and then be ready to shackle any Zombies that may get close to Gluth. Hunters should set an assist hunter who will be on the lookout for any zombies
that get close to Gluth.
* Main Tank Healing Strategy
- 4 Healers assigned to the current MT.
- A Nature's Swiftness Rotation should be set up for the decimates that occur every 1:45.
- Healers will need to switch between the 2 MT's to keep up with the Healing debuf.
* Enrage
- After the 3rd Decimate Gluth will Enrage.
* Consumables
- Swiftness Pots - the Kiting Paladins should stock up on swiftness pots for those "Oh Shit" moments they dont get far enough ahead of the Zombies.
* Important Debuffs
The following DEBUFFS should be maintained on Gluth at all times:
2.
3.
*
- Insect Swarm
- Curse of Weakness
- Thunderclap
- Demoshout
4. Special Notes
- The key to this fight will be kiting the zombies and killing them after the Decimate.
---Horde Guilds usually use a combo of Mage kiting + Earthbind totems set up in a square toward the center of the room to kinda Zombies---

the annoying zombie chow will give Gluth %5 of his health back so they can ruin the attempt. Mages and pallys make great classes to kite the zombie chow. half way through when gluth is at 50% the mages should switch with the pallys so the mages don't run out of there mana. when gluth decimates all mages and pallys have to Aoe the zombie chow all down.

Last night we had a bit of a problem with various kiters (frost mage, hunter), but eventually settled in very nicely to our holy paladin kiting the chow around, he held onto it very very well and holy wrath was just awesome for this.
We had 3 total healers so the remaining 2 healers left without him helping easily healed through the Gluth damage itself, which was very minimal as us tanks were just taunting back and forth as debuffs wore off and the hunter was tranquing him everytime.

Killed him last night and we noticed a few things to help out:
There were NO fear at any point in time
Kiting was made 300% easier with our holy paladin doing it, and having hunters and shaman AoE snare, and other 2 healers easily keep the tanks up as he does not hit hard at all, even considering we entered the instance this week with our level 70 T6/SWP gear
When you drop from the tube, pick him up and drag him strait ahead at the door, making the distance for the chows to travel to him much longer
Of all the encounters pre-Sapphiron and Kel'thuzad, He was the "hardest" along with Grobbulus to execute perfectly.

Most of these items (according to this site) drop in 2 places - Gluth being one of the bosses as well as a second boss else-where in the instance. Not having cleared through Abom wing myself, as of yet, can anyone confirm that this is true?

Guild did this recently, tried to have me (a hunter) and another hunter take adds, ended overpowering us trying to take the adds off healers.
Successful after we had our warrior (arms) through on a shield and take the adds while we lay down frost traps for the kiting of zombies (he used prot gear for it)
I dpsed, the other hunter helped with the zombies, and both of us would use traps as often as possible

Gluth is a pretty easy fight to heal, so if you happen to have a spare resto shaman, it's nice to have him run around with the kiter, dropping earthbinds and tossing heals.
It definitely made our kills a lot easier with the group comp we have.

Kited this as a death knight. I simply got aggro on all zombies using Death and Decay and whatnot, then gripped one of them to me, used consecration on him and let the others run through it. I did get occasional help from totems and one of our healers that was bored and started kiting 3-4 of them.
Easy encounter.

Strange that you found it so easy, it took our group several tries. None of us had really done the level 60 version and so with what knowledge we had we assigned our fire/arcane mage to the kiting of the zombies with the basic directions of: keep them following you and frost nova for distance.
Obviously, this failed. It was far too hard (not being frost spec especially) to keep them on him, but not touching him, and snared as much as possible.
After a few attempts, one with a healer assigned, I decided I'd give it a go (holy paladin). I asked our hunter to keep laying down a frost trap in the middle of the room, our tank keeping Gluth at the door to the next room and the hunter running back and forth every trap cd to replace. It took one wipe till we got it down pat.
One thing that the comments here don't mention is the stacking debuff the zombies give. It is not a disease, a magic, a poison etc but every (or nearly every) time a zombie hits it's target it applies a wound that increases physical damge taken by 100 per stack. In the end, I had 50 stacks. That's an extra 5k damage to a zombie hit (normally around 1-1.5k on a plate wearer). I had to make sure I did not get hit. This was achieved by some canny kiting, use of Exorcism and Holy Shock (for heals on myself and sometimes for more aggro) and for the love of god don't forget Righteous Fury. This worked so well I suggest any guild trying to progress past this try it this way.
The rotation was this. Drop conc and trap at same place+time. I get aggro on each zombie as it spawns as long as I can keep a conc up somewhere around the border of the trap. If I didn't aggro a zombie and it's heading to Gluth, Exorsism is your friend. Boom and the zombie is yours.
Now, unless your hunter is survival there is a small gap between frost trap uptime and trap cooldown. This is when you use your Holy Wrath. It can also help by instantly picking up any newly spawned zombies at the same time. If one of the zombies is closer to you than the others, hammer it. I had the improved turn evil glyph but DID NOT need to use it at any point.
You will get hit. Do NOT bubble even if your health is low (I had a soulstone to recover if I did die but happily, I didn't) but if you see that they are going to hit you and you can't do anything about it, use Divine Protection (our own shield wall). WIth luck you'll survive.
Keep in mind this is only for, say, 15+ stacks. If you get away ASAP you can survive a beating by a few zombies at low stacks. If you keep kiting correctly, around and around the frost trap, you shouldn't need to worry.
WIthout his heals, Gluth is a mega peice of cake. That isn't to say the encounter isn't hard; we will most probably wipe even if all our raid comes back as is, because 100% concentration is required for the kiter and if you don't have a backup plan (which for us was our DK, though he was was needed for offtanking so he couldn't have held them for long) then a few seconds of lag will destroy you.

A mage kiting technique is actually fairly doable, at least in the 10 man version. It simply requires constant awareness of your surroundings and cooldowns available. I am a frostfire mage (0/53/18) and was able to do this technique with relative ease after a couple of attempts.
Start off near one of the sides of the room on the opposite half of Gluth. Make sure you stay in this half of the room so he doesn't get healed. You should start at max range of your best insta-cast nuke (in my case, Fire Blast). Once the first spawns, hit it to get aggro on it. From this point, you will make somewhat of a figure eight kiting circuit around this half of the room. Start making a half circle around the skeleton, possibly using your Blink so he doesn't hit you. Then start running across to the other side of the room. Be vigilant on new skeleton spawns and tag them (again with Fire Blast or Ice Lance if FB is on CD). Again when you reach other other side of the room, frost nova them once they are in your range and once again start heading back to the other side of the room.
Keep repeating this using Frost Nova and Blink as distance makers and instant cast spells as the spell you use to tag. Maybe throw in an Arcane Explosion so that you keep aggro on them. If you get in a tough spot use Mirror Image to take aggro off yourself for a few seconds.
You will get hit, but hopefully after mastering it, you shouldn't get hit too much. In other words, your raid healer should be able to keep you topped off. If you get hit so much that the debuff could be potentially lethal if you are to be hit again, Ice Block to get rid of it. Finally, make sure you time your frost nova so that it hits a little before decimate. This is so that it takes longer for the skeletons to reach Gluth and so you do not get hit after the decimate.
No matter which class you do use, it will be a bit difficult to master, but it is actually pretty fun once you get the hang of it. Good luck!

As a warlock, I figured it'd be wise to start life tapping shortly before Gluth's decimate, as you will end up with 5% hp anyway, and a full mana bar is helpful for AoEing ghouls.
However, I managed to kill myself by lifetapping right at the moment of decimate. Lifetap normally can't kill you, as it will check if there's enough hp available to sacrifice. I doubt this'll happen very often, and life tapping before decimate is a good idea. At the actual moment of decimate, however, I suggest you avoid using any ability that can knock off 5% of your hp.

Gluth
- 10 man
Tank the dog, kite the zombies!
MT and OT
: Jump down from the sewer pipe and have MT grab agro on Gluth immediately. Tank him against the locked door. At about 3 or 4 Mortal Wound stacks (meaning healing has been reduced to 30%-40%), OT taunts Gluth off and tanks. When OT has the same amount of debuffs, MT taunts etc. Repeat this for the entire fight.
Kiter
: Zombies will begin to spawn in the middle of the room and must be KITED (not tanked!). If the zombies reach Gluth, he will devour them and gain health back.
Kite ALL of the zombies in the back of the room until Gluth does Decimate which reduces the health of every raid member AND the zombies to 5% of their maximum HP.
No point DPSing them down until Decimate as they will drop to 5% max health no matter how much dps was done beforehand.
NOTE
: Once you are kiting around 5-6 at a time, it become lethal for the zombies to ever reach you. Keep up slowing traps, slowing totems and if possible cycle in mage frost nova rotations. KEEP THEM AWAY FROM YOUR KITER! I recommend a hunter for this job as they have traps and ranged aoe abilities but I'm sure a mage would work just the same.
DPS
: Work down Gluth until he does Decimate, then kill the zombies asap.
Healers
: MT and OT healer need to keep up healing from the tanks when the Mortal Wound begins to stack. It will become increasingly harder to heal if they allow too many to stack. Raid healer will need to pick up MASSIVE raid damage when Decimate goes off. Also keep an eye on the kiter as they might take huge spike dmg if the zombies ever touch them.

Kited the zombies successfully as an Unholy/Frost DPS hybrid DK (Ebon Plague + Imp Icy Talons), had a Mage specc full-frost for the encounter to help slow them down whilst I kited them around at the back of the room. Ended up with a good few dozen stacks of the debuff, but it was possible. You do definitely need some sort of snare class for it, though.

Alright, going into simple math here this is the dps race you have to beat on 10 man. Gluth has 3,230,000 health according to wowhead on 10 man (haven't been there since beta). Last i remember, his enrage time is 5 minutes and he will do his decimate twice before the enrage.
The decimates will make the zombies run towards Gluth and the dps will have to kill them all.
This timing is assuming a few things that usually happen anyways:
1. You have two tanks.
2. You have three healers.
3. You kill the all zombies both times.
4. No dps on Gluth die.
You will have approximatly 3 kiters (two kiters one healer) in the back to
distract
kite the zombies. There are also two healers on the two tanks in the front along with say 3 dps. These five people the tanks and dps are going to have to work out the dps necessary.
If this were a simple tank and spank, it'd be like this:
3,230,000 / 5 = 646,000
646,000 / 60 = 10766 2/3 dps raid wide
10767 / 5 = 2153.4 dps average. (Simple math see?)
But it's not a simple tank and spank. During the decimate, there will be a complete dps stop for about 10-25 seconds. We're also assuming Gluth regains NO health during this time. So, on average I'll say, the zombies are killed for 15 seconds each.
5:00 - (:15 x 2) = 5:00 - :30 = 4:30 = 4 1/2 min
Lets see the dps in four and a half minutes.
3,230,000 / 4.5 = 717777 7/9
717778 / 60 = 11962 dps raid wide
11962 / 5 = 2392.4
It's not a huge increase in dps, about 239. But it does matter when you factor tanks in. I've seen the average tank dish out 1000 dps when trying. Good, expertise and hit capped tanks can deal 1500 dps. Half way we'll meet 1200 dps. Still in the lows but not 1000.
You need to subtract this from the original raid dps and see how much dps 3 people have to do to make up for it.
1200 x 2 = 2400
11962 - 2400 = 9562
9562 / 3 = 3187 1/3
3187 dps per dpser to take down the master Gluth. Again, this is all assumed on your raid composition and if nothing goes wrong. Doing things faster gets you better time thus less dps required. This is average though, so if your slacking a 4000 dps friends can pick up. Also if the tanks do more, that helps.
If i made any mistakes, please inform me. Also, i used easy math so anyone could get it, not just theorycrafters.

Just being nit-picky, but does anyone else find it irksome that decimate reduces you to 5% when it actually means "to reduce by 10%"? Not arguing the mechanics, just the naming.

Surprised this hasn't been posted here yet, but an exploit for Gluth has existed since vanilla WoW. You can pull him up into the slime tunnel and the zombies will never reach him. The fight becomes stupidly simple. Not saying its right or wrong to take advantage of this, just saying it exists. A Warlock's demonic circle is probably one of the best ways to get him to come up. Other than that try just mashing strafe left and strafe right when he targets you. His pathing usually screws up when he enrages.

Our guild has been worried about Gluth because we raid with no hunter. Odd yes, but we are that one guild without a raiding hunter. Last night I was able to kite the adds as a Moonkin. I just rooted the first add, and as more came I would use Moonfire to pull the towards me. The range is long enough I could use it virtually in any part of the room. As more would group up I would use Typhoon to knock them back. The 20 second cooldown might seem a little long, but it give you a chance to run all the way across the room. We had our resto Shaman drop an Earthbind Totem in the middle of the room to help slow them down. Occasionaly our frost mage would use Cone of Cold also. This method worked great for us. When decimate would hit the Frost mage would use Frost Nova and we would AOE down the group. Kiting as a Moonkin may seem unconventional, but with the armor bonus, ability to Cat Form/Dash, and able to throw Hots(which wasn't needed), it wasn't that difficult. At the end of the fight I had only 22 Stacks on the debuff. We were able to One Shot Gluth first time we saw him.
Get creative. Think outside the box, and have fun with this fight. I look forward to doing it again.
Edit: I did change Frost Trap, to the appropriate Frost Nova.. TY

The only pally in my group was our MT so we tried something a little different. We put the OT(warrior) on the boss and had the pally tank on the chows. We just had a hunter stand in the back and taunt once the OT got 4 stacks of the debuff. Worked great. This strat can also help if you have a hunter and one of your tanks dies.

As a hunter kiting 10 man Gluth, I was able to solo the zombies circle strafing around a stationary frost trap slightly off-center. Start with the frost trap, then as the zombies come, pull them off the healers (Arcane usually works, and if not, Distracting) about when they reach the middle of the room. This will pull them towards you, and thus into the frost trap. Usually, you can get into a rhythm of strafing - with Cheetah, you can just about make a full path around the trap for each zombie that spawns.
The tricky part is when the frost trap expires. It isn't so much a problem with a decreased cooldown, though BM hunters will have to place their trap on the side closer to the center. That is, if your trap is slightly to the left, kite until the adds are on the far left side, then run to the right side (as close to the center as possible) and wait for the cooldown to expire. This should allow enough time for 1) the trap to activate and 2) the adds to not come close enough to smack you in the face. Keep it up until Decimate, and you should have a nice rounded up pack that is remarkably easy to AoE (go volley!).
Short version: Run around in circles around the frost trap, make sure the adds are on the other side when the frost trap expires, grab adds when they are on the other side of the frost trap, whether its past the frost trap or not, and try not to get hit.
Quick note: Cheetah is not necessary, but it does help if you are nowhere near the adds. A daze will mess you up, so jump in Dragonhawk if you have to. With that extra dodge, you can run through a pack of zombies and not get clobbered completely.
Hope this helps. I was able to pull about 2000 DPS, mostly on volley, and nobody else had to touch the adds (though any extra help is great).

Just thought I'd comment as it seems all of you have been doing the kiting. DONT BOTHER!
The zombies do a debuff that is easily heal throughable on a pally tank or dk tank.
On 10 man have a pally/dk tank the adds behind the raid and another tank MT the boss. Just get anyone with a taunt ability(Paladin/Warrior/DK/Druid(of any form/Hunter) taunt the boss at the point of 7~ stacks of the mortal wounds debuff. They only have to hold the boss for 15s roughly. When they have the boss have them sheild wall/barkskin/deterrance else disengage/run away for a while. The boss does not do all that much damage on normal so is easily healthruable. The add tank will need bigger heals just before decimate. As the adds are being tanked it makes decimate a lol part of the encounter as a mage frost novas and you just aoe all the adds as they are tanked in the same place. Heal assigns are 1 healer MT 1 healer add tank but healers rotate cooldowns on decimate to keep the MT alive(the tank can use a stone or health pot to achieve the same effect)
On 25 man. It's better to have 2 pally/dk tanks on the adds(but not essential i might add). But you will need 2 tank geared ppl for the boss himself(we have a fury warrior put his tank gear on as you dont have to gen threat as the OT) as he hits significantly harder on heroic. But other than that its same story as 10man. Heal assigns are 2 healers for MT and OT, 1 healer for each add tank else 2 healers for the single add tank. Any more healers go on heal whoever needs it the most duty.
If you do it this way there is so so much less to go wrong and it makes it a lolboss(which it is anyways) Enjoy!

As a holy paladin, I usually kite the Zombie Chow in the 10 man version, and just do the (lol)tank healing in 25 man. Tank healing's pretty straight forward - heal the current aggro target. Too easy.
However, I'll explain how I kite for any holy paladins who haven't yet done so and are a bit nervous about how they go about it.
Firstly, it's pretty self explanitory, but turn on Righteous Fury. Seeing as you'll usually have it off, it's easy to forget that you need it for aggroing the zombies.
Secondly, Enlightened Judgements (+30yd range to Judgements, +hit), while not necessary, dramatically helps pick the zombies up when they spawn. However, this shouldn't be a problem as in just about every standard holy build this talent is picked up.
Finally, try to keep Sacred Shield up all the time. Whilst you don't want the zombies to hit you at all if possible, if they do, and then a second hit comes (after Sacred Shield has procced a bubble), you won't get a debuff (provided the bubble absorbs all the damage) - this is very handy for those odd times you have to brush past one or two zombies to get in range of the new one.
In any case, the main difficulty I found in kiting was picking up the new zombies whilst maintaining a large enough kiting path to prevent as many hits as possible. However, with Enlightened Judgements, it's a snap. In the 10 man version every zombie spawns in the one spot (the centre great) so while you're running keep an eye on it. As soon as a zombie appears, cast a Judgement (it doesn't really matter which). Due to RF and the fact that healing aggro from the other healers is spread across all the targets, that alone should make it stick to you - if not, then throw in an Exorcism to seal the deal. Besides this, lay down Consecrates behind you to solidify aggro.
Besides this, there are two times you want to save Holy Wrath for - firstly, if you've got a group of zombies bearing down on you and you need to cut a corner in your kite path for whatever reason (ie. to get in range of a fresh chow), then bite the bullet, run into them, and when you hit the front zombies, Holy Wrath and carry on through without breaking stride. Secondly, you want it to be up when Gluth casts Decimate, so you can AoE stun the group of zombies if they start to get close to him. Due to this, don't cast Holy Wrath within 30 secs of the Decimate timer, unless you really can't avoid casting it earlier.
On the topic of Decimate, one final note - when there are about 10 secs left, start heading to one of the back corners of the room, just to give your dps that little bit of extra time to get them down. Whilst you may not need it, it always helps to do it at the back and have lots of breathing space, rather than at the front and causing panic attacks.
With all that said and done, have fun - I personally love kiting; while I do enjoy healing, this fight is a great change of pace and makes sure I'm not doing the same old monotonous thing throughout Naxx. ^_^ Good luck and have fun!

For my guild's first 10 man we ended up having our pally tank handle the adds, as pallys are exceptionally well suited to handle them, and used a hunter (me) to taunt the boss when he had around 8 secs left on his 3rd stack of the debuff. The debuff on the tank lasts 15 secs and is applied every 10 secs. The tank could have handled a couple more stacks without too much trouble, but this gave us a bit of lee-way if things went wrong.
The pally tanked the adds on the left center of the room, with a shaman keeping earthbind totem down and healing him. And I hugged the right wall to keep him away from the adds while clearing the tank's debuff.
All in all an easy two shot of the boss (first attempt our resto shaman dropped earth elemental for some reason--- fail).

I've seen a Mage/hunter combination that was great for for kiting Zombie chow.
The hunter keeps a frost trap down while the mage kites them around the trap using blink and frost nova.
If exeuted right theres a really high chance nobody will ever take damage from the zombie chow.
Theres a full guide at
www.worldofstrats.com
that is helpful as well.

FYI: Using "Small Spice" from cooking dailies helps quite a bit too. This allows you to take Gluth's large circle and shrink it to about 1/4th of it's size. helps when a zombie gets a little too close to him.

I have been able to kite gluth two times, with no fails as an Unholy DK.
First time I had a shammy with me, who kept earthbind totem up 100% of the time. I just dropped D'nD where the the zombie chow's spawned. I had never done this before, we did not have any hunter or pally or any form of kiter in our group. So I had to step up and do it. No problem at all.
Second time, we didn't have a shammy or a hunter or any form of helpful CC. But what we did have was 3 healers. So one of the healers paid alot of attention to me and healed me when I needed it. I used the same strategy as before; dropping D'nD where the zombie's spawn and run around alot in circles. But this time I had to run in HUGE circles to avoid the zombie's. I needed some healing, but not much. Very doable, but requires alot of timing for when to drop the D'nD.
All of this were done in the 10-man version of Naxxramas.

The best combination our 10-man group came up with for the chow was a hunter/mage combo. Our mage respecced frost and used all his icy abilities to hold aggro while keeping them slow enough to not get hit. The hunter kept down frost traps for extra safety and misdirected any chow as necessary while still being able to tranquilize and DPS Gluth. If a dedicated healer is necessary it may be wise to throw a shammy back there if you have one to throw down earthbind totems for a larger "slow zone". It's all dependant on group make-up and finding the right combination. If you have these classes available, this method may work for you. Good luck!

There seems to be a bug with gluth when he uses his decimate it will kill you instead of it taking you down to 5% health. our guild was trying to do immortal run and this happened and was the first time it did happen. it killed 2 warlocks and 2 mages

My guild finds it pretty easy to have 2 DKs alternate kiting (25 man version). Similar to the Pally kiting technique just have the DKs go into frost presence and lay DnD and run around the room. Had a resto shammy laying earthbind and healing occassionally. Works really well with unholy DKs but we've done it successfully with every spec.

Did ten man the other day and nightmare, the MT DC'd at the end of the tunnel, leaving me the OT to solo tank him, actually managed it for 5 mins before we wiped on 40%, got him down straight away the next time with the MT returning!
I'm not too well geared (had titansteel helm, and Argent Crusade chest on when fighting him before)

So just goes to show that you can survive the mortal wounds even if a tank drops suddenly mid fight.

Did a 10-man run tonight, and we had 3 tanks, two prot warriors and a druid. Sent the druid and one warrior to tank Gluth, and the other prot warrior and a death knight kited the zombies in back. Both the kiters were in about 1/3 Nax-25 gear, the rest heroics and Nax-10. The kiting worked like a charm, with the Prot warrior thunder clapping and running the zombies through Death and Decay, then using Shockwave to stun them en masse.
We'll probably just tank them next week, but I imagine this strategy would work with weaker geared players as well.

For the past two weeks my guild has had a rough time on Gluth in 10 man. We've tried one hunter, one hunter and a mage, two hunters, you name it. We were about to wipe last week, so I figured I'd go mess around with the zombies. I'm a prot warrior usually playing OT. While doing this I realized I'd have a much easier time with the zombies than the hunters. Our frost Death Knight who was DPSing threw his tank gear on and took my spot as OT for the fight. Using thunder clap, shockwave, and cleave I was easily able to keep all of the zombies on me and we downed Gluth without a single chow getting to him.

On 10man, this guy hits like a little girl. We were able to manage the tanking by having our dps Deathknight offtank, and having our pally tank kiting the adds.
Warrior MT tanked, with one healer on him, and stacked up to 3 Mortal Wound debuffs. When 3rd hit, he'd call for the DK to taunt off and healer would focus on him. After the stack of wounds fell off the tank, he'd grab Gluth again. DK only had to tank for about 10 secs each 40 secs or so, and the healer was able to keep him up easily.
Key to this is having the healer pay attention to the tanks' Taunt calls. He has to switch tanks in time.

If the kiter has a PvP set, then he might want to use, as he will get less critical hits and more stam.
10man:
Also, you might want 2 kiters and 1 healer, but it's doable with 1 kiter. It's just that everytime gluth calls decimate, it end up I keep all my stacks, making the jobs harder for the healer. Other than that, it might take 1-2 wipes for the kiter to learn how to kite properly, but in the end, this boss will be your favorite ;).

FYI, it is entirely possible to single-tank this fight; when the debuff reaches 10 stacks, it will stop being reapplied until it falls off; massive healing when you're at 9 stacks and defensive cooldowns when it hits 10 will keep you alive until the debuff falls off, then you start over again. Useful for guilds trying for

Gluth can be a MAJOR !@#$block for unexperienced/unequipped raids. I'm not bad or unexperienced cuz I've done this guy in 25/10 many a time, and I've got some good equipment, but my 10man naxx group in my new guild is having some serious trouble completing Gluth. The DPS is just simply too low on the boss, but the enrage isn't the problem, it's the fact that the big dog eats adds almost every decimate completely wiping up the raid everytime.

Here's a thought for groups having trouble with Gluth:
I believe it's possible to apply Minus Healing debuffs like Mortal Strike, Aimed Shot, Wound Poison,etc, to Gluth to reduce the healing done by the Zombie Chow. If so (this is easier on 25 man because you'll have more of those debuffs to go around) then here's the math behind my theory:
Each Zombie heals Gluth for 5% of his HP: divide that by 50% (MS) and that's 2.5% per Chow, another 50% (Aimed Shot) is 1.25%, and another (Wound Poison) is 0.625%, and my last example is a Fury Warrior talent (don't have name) to finally reduce the healing don per zombie to 0.3125% per.
On average, 18 zombies spawn per Decimate: 18 x 0.3125= 5.625% which isnt too bad. Gluth Enrages after 4 Decimates, therefore most groups will get about 3. 5.625% x 3 = 16.875%
Gluth has around 8M HP on 25 man, therefore is we add around 17% to that, it will hardly compare to Patchwerk's 13M, and they both have the same Enrage Timer (a Decimate goes off every 90 secs, therefore 90x4=360 secs=6 mins)

Here is my problem: I am a survival hunter with my hit rating capped and 3 points in trap mastery. However, every single time I lay down a frost trap and the chow touches it, it simply disappears.
I know that, after the release of 3.1, if a target is immune or resists a trap now, it won't spring at all. However, I have laid my frost trap down no less than ten times on these guys and it has yet to spring. The word "Immune" never comes up, so obviously they are not immune. How is it that these mobs are resisting my frost traps every single time?

Mortal Qound stacks to 10 and then runs out because no new stack can be applied by gluth and the duration is not refreshed.
Tanked hin today alone with protpaly but I used Shieldwall and/or a Trinket to survive 10th stack (about 15 seconds of no-heal) each time.

We had a shortage of skilled kiters in a heroic run this weekend, so we put a prot paladin (me) with lots of block value along with a prot war with even more block value on the adds, and since the warrior wasn't all that good at kiting, we tried just standing there and tanking them. It worked great, we each stood in the middle of the two outside grates, taunting, ranged attacks and hunters MD'ing to the war when he didn't have something off CD to pull with. Instead of running around like headless chickens, we had 3 healers on us and used our AoE stuns (shockwave, Holy Wrath) as much as possible, we were ready with shield wall and other damage reducing cooldowns as well, by the first decimate, we each had about 65 stacks of the debuff, by the 2nd decimate we both had 99, and were getting hit decently but still nothing more than our healers could handle. So you don't really need a skilled kiter, just a few tanks with decent mitigation and be sure to blow your AoE stuns every chance you get.

The kiting is extremely important on this fight. My guild usually has 2 kiters on this. Frost DK with tank gear on, and shaman to drop Earthbind totem and heal the other kiter. For a Frost DK kiting make sure you use frost or unholy presence (both have worked pretty well for me). Put on all the tank gear you've got, spam DnD/any other AOE attack you've got, and death grip/taunt any zombies that manage to slip by you. Hungering cold is also quite useful if you're getting too many debuffs and the zombies are getting a bit too close for comfort. Remember that the objective is to keep most of them on you and off of the healer,
not
to DPS them since that would be pointless until decimate rolls around. And, last but not least, decimate is the ONLY time you may ever stop moving. If you stop running while kiting, the zombies will hit you with the stacking debuff and you will die. If the kiters die too early, the raid will wipe.

I just solo'd this as a Blood DK, it's just a dps race. The boss spawns an add every 5-10 seconds or so and eats it, gaining 5% of its hp. All you have to do is do more damage than that 5%.
I had to do this in full dps gear. The damage taken wasn't at all a problem, blood shield still stacks even with the full healing reduction buff, so you shouldn't ever get below 90% or so if you ever take any damage. He doesn't decimate when there are no adds up, and since the adds are never up for more than a second or two, the ability is never used.

If you ignore adds and let him heal you need about 17500 dps to kill him on 10 man.
You need to kill him before the enrage timer at 8 minutes. A total of about 40 adds will spawn during the encounter, each healing him 5% for a total of 200% healed. 2.8 mil pluss 200% in 8 mins works out to 17500 dps.
It seems the 5% zombie heal is wrong. My bear is just able to kill him at the enrage, and I've recorded every kill. It consistently shows 43 zombies spawned and eaten before the enrage, and a ~6.2% heal per zombie eaten (possibly 1/16 of his health).
The correct calculation is then 43 zombies healing him for 6.25% of his health each for a total of 268.75%. 2.789 mil plus 268,75% in 8 mins works out to 21.4k dps. If you are able to survive his enrage for a while, or if you are lucky and kill him right before he snacks on a zombie, you can get away with about 1k less dps.

Ok, soloed this one at 10 with my blood dk in 381 dps gear, also using a flask of titanic strength and a golemblood potion (1200 strength for 25 sec, I think I used it near the end, cause I was quite sure to get him and that without it I would've died).
He enraged (8 mins enrage, don't trust DBM, says 6) at the same second he died, lol.
As gear improved I didn't use the potion any more, then not even the flask and now I can kill him in 5 mins 30 unbuffed in 393 item level.
21-22k dps should be fine to outdps his healing, I had 21.430 the first time I got him and he enraged when he died, so this should really be the limit.
By the way, don't count on having maxed vengeance all the fight, he hits like a little girl; till zombies put you enough stacks of debuff, you WILL NOT have max vengeance, this means less dps.
To counter this you can stand in the tunnel, take poison damage till you are vengeance capped, used this trick in my first kills.
Don't worry about his healing debuff which stacks to -100% healing, if you keep blood shield up he will rarely even hit you, blood shield still absorbs like 10-11k damage (in my gear) even if DS heals for nothing.
First kill:
http://imageshack.us/photo/my-images/35/85dksolosgluth381itemle.jpg/
Last kill:
http://imageshack.us/photo/my-images/259/gluthsoloin5mins30.jpg/
At 25 he is not soloable unless you are a night elf, cause zombies heal him 3x the amount, so you might need over 60k dps to deal the amount of damage you deal at 10, as in 3 millions, so more like 180k dps to kill him within the enrage.
By the way, at 25 he hits harder, in dps gear I wasn't even able to survive, he breaks my blood shield, lol.

Just a note to any Death Knights trying to solo this, using Necrotic Strike will NOT absorb the healing from Gluth eating the adds whatsoever. Just tested this by stacking Necro up to about 150k, the boss still healed to full and the Necrotic stack didn't go down at all.
