The best Mage/Lock hat until Frostfire/Plagueheart.
That is all.

Mage/Lock/Shadowpriest to be honest. Although it says "mind flayer" the 2crit isn't really great for face melters as only one of their common dps spells can crit. But the high intellect and damage make it excellent for shadow priests mana problems.
Fal.

Enigma Circlet is also very good. Better stats, but +1% hit instead of crit.
Anyway, I got this and I am very happy i got it :P

This head is the best for any 60 clothies, no doubt. Screw the incase of resist for mages. Screw the 3 sec renew. Screw the 15% less shadow bolt mana cost. Get this or fail! For druid I prefer t2,5 for the extra armor and set 3 bonus. In PvP anyway

Interestingly, "Mishundare" is one of the words a player will say when speaking demonic (from curse of tongues, or a warlock using metamorphosis).

Another very good cloth head (probably the 2nd best in the game) is Crystal Adorned Crown from Azuregos.

im a priest but ive played mages and a warlock and ive looked up alot of stuff on this site and im nto here to cause strife or anger im just guna say that in truth a priest doesnt realy need +dmg and healing because tis true that there is no +dmg all +dmg is also + healing and +healing specific itms give alot ore healign about twice as much as +dmg and +healing. this is because healing is supposed to create a sizeable cure on the person that your healing while damage it supposed to chip away at enemies so the truth
mages and locks need this more than priests but its a good itm for priests, it was built however with mages and locks in mind, and maybe shadow priests cause people have been complaining about shadow priests not gettin stuff
that is quite simply the truth so stop being like "my class deserves it" and look at the facts

First and foremost, I believe this item is best for a mage. Before taking up arms against me, however, here is what I believe is an accurate assessment of the item's characteristics:
The Stats
In my opinion, these stats are best for a mage and here's why: Priests, mages, and warlocks all benefit from stamina, intelligence, and spirit, but they need certain stats more than others. For instance, warlocks, especially affliction warlocks, need stamina more than int or spirit so that they can use their DOTs and outlast their enemies. Of course, they also need int for having enough mana to use their spells, but with moves like life tap and soul link, this isn't nearly as big a concern as having more stamina. Spirit is least important for a warlock of the three. For priests, spirit becomes far more important to regain mana so that they can use more heals, and this piece is somewhat lacking in spirit. Intellect is definately important for a priest since they need to have a large mana pool to keep the main tanks alive through long battles, so in that respect this piece is good for them. The stamina is far less important since they shouldn't be taking aggro, and if your priests ARE still taking aggro, you won't be killing the bosses that would drop this piece anyways :) Therefore I think the stats are decent for a priest, but could be better. More spirit instead of stamina would be preferable. The exception to this rule would be shadow priests, which, in general, are pvp priests. These priests would need more stamina and so this stat combination might be optimal for them. The problem is that if you're a committed pvp-ing shadow priest, chances are you won't be going with your guild to these high level dungeons that drop items like these since you're not holy specced and because you don't have time since you're always in the BG. For a mage, this stat combination seems best. Lots of intellect for those long battles and stamina for when aggro goes wrong. A little bit of spirit is nice, but for my mage I greatly prefer stamina and intellect.
The Spell Damage
Warlocks, mages, and priests all benefit from +35 to all damage and healing spells, but the truth of the matter is that a warlock or mage would benefit from this MORE than a priest. As stated earlier, items like the Crystal Adorned Crown have almost 3 times the +healing. In Blizzard's mind, +35 healing does not equal +35 damage from spells. Instead, 35 damage from spells equals roughly 60-70 in healing spells. If you don't believe this, then why don't you see items with +100 in spell damage? Aside from the Grand Marshal's Stave and a very few similar items, 40 is about the max +damage for spells. Therefore, this 35 extra damage/healing is significantly higher relative to alternative items for a mage/warlock and to a priest. Also, for those shadow priests that say you will make more use of it because you do damage AND heal, that's rediculous. While you're doing damage, ok you might get the same benefit as a mage/warlock, but when you're healing you're still getting that "reduced benefit" I just discussed above, while a mage or warlock would get the full benefit the whole time casting damage spells. Another thing to keep in mind here is what type of spells are being used. Mages, in general, have more spells that take 2.5-3.5 seconds to cast. The reason I bring this is up is because instant cast spells (such as many DOTs, shadow word pain, etc) get a reduced amount (Around 40% of the damage) of extra damage from +dmg gear.
The Critical Strike Chance
Once again, all three classes can use the critical strike chance, but it benefits most mages and the warlocks with ruin more than the others. The critical strike is best for those players that get 2x damage from crits, instead of only 1.5x the initial spell damage. Most mages fall in the 2x category, whether many people realize it or not. First of all, frost mages will have the Ice Shards talent so that their spells do 2x the damage on crits. Also, intelligent fire mages will have OVER 2x damage from crits. In fact, fire mages with the Ignite talent get 2.1x the initial damage from the crit (1.5 x 1.4 = 2.1), not to mention fire spells do a higher amount of base damage. Destruction warlocks with ruin also get 2x the damage from crits, so they too would gain from this. (Although in upcoming patches this is being nerfed slightly) Firstly, for shadow priests that do manage to get into a guild that are running these high level dungeons, your damage spells only receive a 1.5x bonus from a crit, unless I am mistaken. Also, for holy priests the same holds true. Crits generally do 1.5x the healing. Lastly, for the most part priests don't NEED crits for heals, except in dire circumstances. I think it would be a foolish priest indeed that let their main tank get down to 1000 hp without a heal because they were counting on getting that crit to heal to full! You just simply cannot count on critical heals in battle to save you. What happens when your spell doesn't crit? Explaining that to your raid party wouldn't be fun. Also, if you do keep up the healing and heal when they have moderate health, if you crit it's just wasted on an overheal. On the other hand, a caster of damage spells rarely over-damages a boss with a crit. This can only happen when the boss has low health and they kill it with a crit, which hardly seems like a waste of extra damage anyways. Therefore I think the crit chance helps FIRE mages most of all, with their 2.1x extra damage from crits. However, since many high level dungeons are fire resistant, frost mages and warlocks benefit equally from the 2% chance to crit.
Overall, I think this item is best for a mage. The stats, the damage, and the crit chance all line up in favor of a mage. The warlock is a close second in my opinion, followed my the priest. It's true, all cloth wearers would love this piece! Some would just benefit more than others. Too bad they aren't on sale from the reagent vendor for 40 silver :( Then we could all have one :D
P.S. - Judging an item on it's name is just silly! Just because it says Mind Flayer doesn't mean its shadow priest only. Just because the previous owner was a mind flayer (Circlet of the Mind Flayer) doesn't mean you need to be. Take Sulfuras, the Hand of Ragnaros as an example. Shouldn't all fire mages want that item? Ragnaros had it and he was a fire god! That means mages need it. That's just silly!

I guess all the other holy/disc priests were laughing too hard at all the crap getting spammed here.
Inspiration. Hey look, a holy priest talent completely orientated around CRIT HEALS. Someone mentioned it earlier and were completely ignored. Ah well.
Before you go and say it's useless to have priests crit healing and that +healing gear is better, think about if you get one priest, talent them up with inspiration, fill em full of crit gear, and get them to inspiration the MT for you. Their crit heals may end up being less efficient healing wise than +healing equip, they may end up healing less, but your main tank will have 25% more armor. Can you honestly say that'd be a bad thing?
Sure, normally +healing equip might be better for priests, sure crits for offensive casters will increase their dps in PvP, sure critting on a mage or warlock may get you insti-killed in PvE. Crit chance is damn good for a priest specced right for the specific purpose of increasing peoples AC. Don't say it isn't.
PvP, this should go to mages or warlocks. As many people have mentioned, mindflay can't crit *Crosses fingers about next patch* and mindblast has too long a cooldown to really count. Mages and warlocks will benefit more from the crit chance than priests offence wise.
PvE however, with the right build, crit heals can be great.
(Hoping people will actually read my comment unlike the other two sensible holy/disc priest supporters earlier)
Oh, and to the arse who told people they have to play a healbot if they play a priest, bullcrap. Mages are insane burst damage for sure. Warlocks can be too. Priests like warlocks can however dish out nasty dot damage. Priests often more so. Mindflay and mindblast aren't the winning moves for a priest, swp is. Unless you come up against a pally or priest, then manaburn is what matters.

This dropped from Nefarion for us.
It went to a mage. Why would a priest gimp themselves with +healing/damage when +healing items are much more efficient? When healing for fights like Nefarion, you don't have time for damage.

Be wary of the priest after that patch. The roll of the priest is going to change. No longer will the lines merge, he will either be a healer or be able rip your heart out through your arse.
You dont have to fear him but you WILL respect him from now on.
Just like a shaman.

fyi, we have a shdow priest in ourguild, he is always #1 on the DPS meter, he out dps all rogues... well all classes, our shadow priest will go to BWL, and will roll on that, and holy priests will roll on that to, imo its just as good for priests as it is for any other cloth wearing class
and its our guilds decidion who gets to roll, not the people posting comments on thott...

It's great for the new Holy Damage build that priests can spec for with 1.10
Of course, right now our guild is ran by mostly mages (Conspiracy?) and doesn't allow priests to bid for damage peices like this unless no Warlock/Mage needs it. (Conspiracy!)
Ah well, I'm just happy I have the ability to do damage AND heal effeciently.

This dropped last night, and a mage got it. Made sense. Anyway.
Chillax guys. I know on some servers guilds have an arsenal of priests for dps - primarily shadow but also holy with the advent of 1.10.
As such, it can be mathematically shown a dps priest can output as much dps as another dps caster class with the same gear.
So, a priest can wear this, as if they're providing dps in a raid, it would rock.
I'm not so sure about holy priests - the crit argument is nice, but end game blues can give you 18% crit, and then you have liek 4% crit from int, and then you have 8/8 PoH 25% crit from Prophecy, and 5/8 2% crit to Holy from Prophecy, and then Inner Focus for 50% crit.
Stop freaking out about who rolls on what, if your guild is a Nef downing guild, this'll drop more than once if you attend raids :)

#1 Went to a priest, one that is not shadow specced
#2 Went to a warlock
#3 Went to a druid (specced moonkin)
... I have to admit he may be the ONLY druid in the game to have this item. It's pretty funny actually.
WHY may you ask is this the case? All the mages want 8/8 NW, Most of the warlocks in my guild have spent their DKP on other non-set items and have their T2 helms already, and finally because the priest and the druid's attendence to raids are awesome.
Don't believe me? Check out Staghelm send tells to Drongbar (the priest) or Scryed (the druid)

That took more months than i care to mention to get this to drop. For the amount of drama in this thread about who this item goes to. No one in my guild wanted it except me. The reality is the people complaining on these threads dont even raid.
Now for that mace..

Although the desire for this item went out the window with every other level 60 epic once BC landed, we can take comfort in the fact that it was immortalized in the song "Purple Monster":
I'm sittin' on a ton o' DKP,
Mish'undare Circlet's lookin' good on me.
Hell no, I'm not goin' to pass,
Mages and warlocks can suck my ass.

Just posting to get rid of rumors. We got a blue post on Skullcrusher forum explaining the crit. At lvl 60 crit changes. When one reaches 60 there is no longer a default crit chance. All crit is through int, and it is 59.9 int per crit. So, if you have 300 int and no + to crit from items, you would have very nearly 5% crit. I don't care if you think otherwise, I am just saying what a blizz rep told us on Skullcrusher, and it seems pretty damn accurate with my dmg meter.
On a side note, I got this helm last night. Since I had Scarlet Cap it didn't improve my crit, but it added some nice dmg and spirit. Keeps me steady at 24% crit and very near to 1k frostbolts. Be afraid horde...be very afraid.
