Welcome to Wowhead's Alliance War Campaign Guide! This guide will walk you through all the requirements and steps to fulfill the War Campaign on the Alliance side, as well as detail all rewards you will receive after completing the War Campaign.
Introduction to the War Campaign
The War Campaign is the side storyline that will follow you through your adventures in Kul Tiras, and works in a similar fashion to the
Order Hall Storyline
from Legion. This time, the War Effort will serve as a continuation for the faction war storyline for Battle for Azeroth, displaying the Alliance's efforts of setting forward operating bases in Zandalar, as well as preparing for strikes upon Horde territory. The War Campaign storyline should expand as the expansion rolls out, so we might even see more content in the future!
War Campaign Reputation Improvements
In patch 8.2.5, all reputation requirements to do the War Campaign were completely removed. You can progress through the whole War Campaign without worrying about the next stage needing reputation.
War Campaign Rewards
The War Campaign is necessary to start several systems in Battle for Azeroth. Here is a list of the rewards you will receive through the first part of the War Campaign:
Access to the Mission Table of Battle for Azeroth, as well as 5 Champions by the time you're done with the Campaign;
Access to the continent of Zandalar;
Access to the War Effort Advancements, equivalent to the

8.0 War Campaign Pre-50
The first part of the War Campaign happens during the leveling process. Although it is not required to complete this part while you're leveling, completion of the first steps is required in order to unlock World Quests and a functioning

in Kul Tiras and Zandalar. Completing these steps also unlocks access to the opposite faction's continent and Island Expeditions.
Level 35: Introduction to the War Campaign
The War Campaign chain starts once you reach level 35 and return to Dazar'alor. After being introduced to the war campaign effort located in either of those zones, on the quest

, you will receive your very first quest,

. On this quest, you're introduced to

, the resource used to funnel missions and troops in Battle for Azeroth, and tasked to collect 100 War Resources.
Before level 50, War Resources are pretty scarce, only obtainable by collecting treasure chests in Kul Tiras/Zandalar and as rewards for scattered storyline quests, so this quest might take a bit to be completed. However, this quest will autocomplete once you manage to loot all 100 War Resources. After completing this part, you return to Boralus on

Introduction to the Mission Table
The next part of the introduction is to this expansion's mission table, located atop the Wind's Redemption. On the quest

Levels 35 and 40: Establishing Footholds
The next part of the War Campaign triggers after the introduction, where you can step into enemy territory to establish your first foothold. Footholds are places in the opposite faction's continent that you can access from your faction's boat. You can unlock your first two footholds at level 35, and the final one at level 40.
The Alliance can choose between footholds in Zuldazar, Vol'dun, and Nazmir. Completing each foothold awards you with access to the zone from the foothold location and a new mission table follower:

You arrive by boat at the ruins of Shatterstone Harbor, an ideal place to set a foothold. You first clean out the Sethrak opposition on

After learning of the multiple Gallywix impersonators, we decide to focus on a possible underwater mission from the Horde. With Falstad and Feathermoon, we head down to the Great Sea on

8.1 War Campaign
The War Campaign in 8.1 focuses on the efforts on the upcoming attack to the Zandalari capital of Dazar'alor.
Part 1 - The Horde Attack
This part of the storyline requires completion of

Part 2 - The Secret Weapon
We're called to Zuldazar by the engineering expert, Kelsey Steelsparkle, in

. It is there that the gnome exposes her plan for a secret weapon: use a gnomish weapon, the Embiggifier, to convert the intelligence of the leader of the Da'kani Gorillas, Grong, into raw strength, and release him in Dazar'alor.
We first need to test the Embiggifier, which we do on one of the chickens in Xibala in

. Although the test is a success, since chickens aren't very smart, they don't grow a whole lot. We then go meet with Grong in

Finale - The Nazmir Distraction
It's time to set out a distraction in Zuldazar. In

, we go over our plan - Jaina will use the Abyssal Scepter to create a thick fog around Nazmir, and we set up a distraction attack to Zuldazar from the Nazmir border. While the Zandalari forces are busy, the Kul Tiran fleet will attack the unguarded Dazar'alor.

Epilogue - The Aftermath of Dazar'alor
Clearing Battle of Dazar'alor and this part of the storyline is
not
required to unlock the Kul Tiran Allied Race.
This questline deals with the aftermath of the Battle of Dazar'alor raid. We meet with Anduin in

at Unity Square in Boralus, and go over what happened at the end of the raid in

- The Alliance kills King Rastakhan after he refuses to be imprisoned and conquer Dazar'alor, but at the price of potentially losing High Tinker Mekkatorque, frozen in an ice block undispellable by any known magics. Jaina also ended up injured when blocking the Horde from attacking the fleeing Alliance forces, but she is alright at the end of the raid.
Halford Wyrmbane says: My king, the attack on Zuldazar was a resounding success.
Master Mathias Shaw says: The Horde is losing on all fronts. The Alliance should achieve victory in a matter of weeks.
Anduin Wrynn says: Yes, but at what cost? So many fallen... including Mekkatorque, whose life hangs by a thread. And I fear the death of Rastakhan will ignite a fire in the hearts of the Zandalari.
Genn Greymane says: He was a casualty of war, Anduin. A king must be willing to sacrifice himself for his people without doubt or hesitation.
Anduin Wrynn says: I know that, Genn... as well as anyone.
Anduin Wrynn says: But our mission was to drive a wedge between the Zandalari and the Horde. Instead, we may have strengthened their bond.
Halford Wyrmbane says: More than half the Zandalari vessels were destroyed in the initial strike, and the Horde fleet is in disarray. Their remaining ships cannot hope to stand against the Kul Tiran navy.
Genn Greymane says: The Horde has never been more vulnerable. We should strike hard... before Sylvanas hatches another vile scheme.
Lady Jaina Proudmoore says: Press the attack as the Zandalari mourn their fallen king? That would make us no better than the Banshee.
Master Mathias Shaw says: She's the real problem here. I imagine she is already finding ways to turn this to her advantage.
Anduin Wrynn says: We must continue the fight. But as we push towards victory, we must never lose sight of who we are and what we stand for.

8.1.5 War Campaign
The 8.1.5 War Campaign focuses on the efforts after the Battle of Dazar'alor, which include several discoveries about the Horde's plans.
Part 1 - The Freehold Discovery
This part of the War Campaign starts with

, Valeera delivers a message to Jaina from Baine Bloodhoof, who seeks to right a wrong done to the Proudmoore family. Valeera informs that Baine would like to meet with Jaina at the Ruins of Theramore. The request initially enrages Jaina, until it is brought up that it is the safest place to meet as Sylvanas does not have eyes there.
Jaina reluctantly accepts the request and we head to Theramore with her in

. In this quest, it is revealed that Baine helped Derek Proudmoore break away from Sylvanas, and Derek is being returned to the Proudmoore family. The reunion is bittersweet, with Derek not being able to return home to Kul Tiras just yet, but Jaina mentions there is someone that might be able to help him.
Part 3 - Warfang Hold Spying
After we return to Boralus, Halford Wyrmbane mentions that Shaw has increased the number of SI:7 spies in Stormsong Valley, and sends us to check it out in

When we arrive at the waterfall cave, Shaw is fighting with a Horde agent, which we help defend. Shaw managed to find an even closer spot to Warfang Hold! Shaw then informs that security was increased beyond normal means because all leaders of the Horde are gathered in Warfang Hold. Sylvanas is way too protected to strike down right but, but we can spy what's going on

The reunion's motive is revealed: Derek Proudmoore's escape to Kul Tiras. Sylvanas calls out the traitor, Thomas Zelling, and Baine Bloodhoof jumps to defend him. Thomas Zelling is killed by Nathanos, and Baine is imprisoned by Sylvanas, not before he called Sylvanas a traitor to the Horde.
With this information, we then return to Boralus to report to Jaina. Jaina laments what happened to Baine, and hopes that maybe now the Horde will no longer see Sylvanas as the hero she once was.
8.2 War Campaign
To access the next portion of the War Campaign, you will need to progress in Nazjatar up until you get the quest,

Part 1 - Baine's Rescue
After the Alliance gets a place to stay in Mezzamere thanks to the hospitality of the Waveblade Ankoan, King Anduin personally summons us together with Jaina in
. Arriving at Stormwind Keep, we learn that Baine is being kept prisoner in the Underhold in Orgrimmar, and Sylvanas has ordered his execution.
Jaina understands that she has a debt to pay to Baine for bringing Derek back into the Alliance, as well as him being the only hope of a peaceful end to the war against the Horde, so we embark in a journey to Orgrimmar with Shaw and Jaina in
.
In a new scenario, we're ported to Orgrimmar. Before finding Baine, we find some Azerite weaponry being developed by the Bilgewater Cartel, and we destroy them before moving on. During our way to Baine's location, we find Thrall and Saurfang, who also want Baine freed. Although there is still bad blood between the Alliance and the Horde because of the Burning of Teldrassil and the Battle for Dazar'alor, everyone agrees to unite and save Baine.
After we reach Baine, it is revealed that he's being held with the help of The Sunreavers, who knew the Alliance was helping Saurfang free Baine and are looking for revenge against Jaina for forcibly kicking the Sunreavers out of Dalaran during the events of Mists of Pandaria. After struggling against the Sunreavers, Baine is successfully freed and Jaina ports everyone to safety.
After the scenario is over, we return to Nazjatar, where we report to Greymane what transpired in Orgrimmar, and Jaina talks about changing their focus against the Horde to work together with them against Azshara in Nazjatar, as this would also give Saurfang time to establish his rebellion against Sylvanas. Greymane is confused but understands the order, mention that they will pay if they betray them.
Genn Greymane: Good to have you back, Jaina. Why did King Anduin summon you?
Lady Jaina Proudmoore: Sylvanas ordered the execution of Baine Bloodhoof. Anduin sent us into Orgrimmar to rescue them.
Genn Greymane: You risked your lives to save a leader of the Horde?!
Lady Jaina Proudmoore: After what he did for Derek, I felt I owed him a debt. We received some unexpected help from Saurfang... and Thrall.
Lady Jaina Proudmoore: We had a common enemy. Sylvanas wanted us at each other's throats. Perhaps that's what Azshara wants, too.
Genn Greymane: Hold on... are you suggesting we lay down our arms and fight beside them? After all they've done?!
Lady Jaina Proudmoore: No. Merely that we direct our efforts against Azshara instead of the Horde. That could buy time for Saurfang's rebellion to take root.
Genn Greymane: Very well. We will focus on defeating the naga queen. But if the Horde turns against us, they will answer for it.

The basics of getting this opened up BEFORE warfronts:
Do all the WQs, even the ones for other rep (they still give 7th Legion rep, the other rep is EXTRA).
Do your island expeditions.
Use the DMF tophat buff.
Be human.
Most of all:
Get the app and check often for rep missions when you aren't in-game. Seriously, by doing this at bathroom breaks, before and after meals, in between meetings at work, etc. I was able to pick up about 1.5k rep in one week JUST from the app.

you bearly get any reputation at all for the doing the war campaign quests (the orange quests). most of these award a whopping 0 reputation. all the reputation seems to cme from side quests in the outposts (such as jani, helping nesingwary and the tortollan and the wanted posters). don't mislead people by telling them you get reputation simply from doing the warcampaign. most of the quests that give you reputation are either not related to the campaign at all or little side adventures.

Rep grind is painfully slow after completing the war campaign. So is time walking currency. You wait in que 30 mins just to get maybe 15 time walking badges.

For the quests at Warport Rastari, if you have the

I strongly recommend doing each outpost quest as soon as it becomes available, don't wait until you hit 120. They give reasonable xp for not a lot of time invested and actually save you some time later. Benefits are gaining the followers early so you can start getting them xp, whilst also opening up more mission completion opportunities early. By the time you get to 120 you'll have starting flight points in each zone for world quests and your followers should be well on their way to epic.
Just be careful running around doing your outpost quests at lower levels, as only mobs in your immediate quest areas are scaled to your level. Wander too far off the path to grab some herbs or ore and you'll find yourself facing 120 mobs :).

I haven't seen it mentioned anywhere else but the new chapters released in 8.1 for

are reputation gated. If you're using the same main character as you had when you first levelled in BFA, you're probably already exalted and so won't be affected by this. If you have an alt, are a new player or have recently returned though, you're going to have to grind out quite a lot of rep to catch up.
Part 1: The Horde Attack (

) doesn't need any more rep than the Finale of

so you can do this right away.
Part 2: The Secret Weapon (

) you need 7000 rep through revered.
Part 3: The Abyssal Scepter (

Obviously, if you're only doing these now, have changed mains or are playing an alt then these are going to be some serious rep grinds as the stages are far further apart than they were for the 8.0 part of the story. You do get 2000 rep for completing each part though so you'll 'only' have to grind 15000 rep which is 176 7th Legion world quests if you use a

To earn this new achievement, you’ll need to have completed A Nation United, Zandalari Forever, Tides of Vengeance (Alliance), and Tides of Vengeance (Horde).
Well, I wont be getting this mount. I have never played Horde and I am not going to level one from 1 to 120, and then rep grind to get it. In my opinion, it is silly that a mount is gated in such a way.

You should note that Part 1 - Blood in the Sand of the 8.0 War Campaign begins with the quest "Overseas Assassination" that you get on the boat in Boralus. I searched everywhere for how to start it and didn't realize it was this quest the whole time. The guide says it "becomes immediately available" but doesn't indicate that this is the breadcrumb that kicks it off.

Okay I literally made an account to post this, if you get done with all the footholds, DO THE DYING WORLD QUEST, This is the actual quest to continue the achievement/quest. This took me and my friends two days to figure out.

If you you're trying to get onto this quest chain at Blood on the Sand as Alliance, but after skipping Legion and BfA, try the
Earthen Guardian
near the Inn in Boralus 74.9, 15.0. He will give you "A Dying World" and tell you to head to Silithus to find
Magni Bronzebeard
. There is a portal in the Boralus portal chamber, nearby.
The WOWHead link for this guy still shows him outside the Great Seal. It needs to be updated.

Question about War Campaign 8.1: so I boosted 1 character to lvl 50 in Shadowland and came back questing to unlock Kul Tiran. After "Ready for War", I found Caption Mathias Shaw to start "The Calm Before". However, he no longer had the quest to start, instead now he just gave us follower's quests and i can not proceed with the guide anyfurther.

Hello! Returning player here from a nearly decade long break. I am coming at this guide with a newbie-like perspective, and I have a few tiny details and corrections I wanted to point out:
1. Two Sides to Every Tale does not
just
require

. It also requires that you complete A Nation United.
2. The guide says:
Level 50: Uniting the Nations
After completing all 3 footholds for your faction, at level 50, you'll receive a new mission from Halford Wyrmbane/Nathanos Blightcaller, Uniting Kul Tiras. These missions require you to get Friendly reputation with all the factions in Kul Tiras (Proudmoore Admirality, Order of Embers and Storm's Wake), as well as completing the quest The Heart of Azeroth.
But the wording here is misleading. It honestly lead me to believe that I could find and accept this quest which would then require that I get Friendly rep with the factions as well as complete Heart of Azeroth. But it should be noted that you need to complete these
in order
to unlock this quest.

I think there is an error (alliance, 9.2). If you have all the footholds, but you can't get the quest "Uniting Kul Tiras.", you should be able to get the quest "A dying world" in boralus which sends you to Magni. Once you got the hearth of azeroth (takes like 5minutes) you can go on the ship on bolarus and get the quest "Uniting Kul Tiras".
